We've been coming to this place for the last 10 years because this place used to be good. The last few times we've been here, we've noticed both the quality of the food as well as the service has considerably decreased. The fish on the nigiri was warm, the cuts of the fish look like it was buttered, and the amount of rice is ridiculous so much so that the fish didn't even cover the rice. We won't be back. read more

The sushi they have coming from the sushi bar is very good! We opted for the AYCE option and C got his at half price. Follow up review since we were craving sushi. We both got the all you can eat sushi. $27.95 not bad. Well as long as the food is good. Started off with a rainbow roll, tuna roll, and an avocado and salmon roll. It did not disappoint. All were very delicious. Fish was colorful and tasty. Not smelly or dry at all. Rice was cooked well and not mushy. Only small complaint was that some of the rolls weren't tightly rolled so they fell apart. Finished off the meal with a bowl of edamame. A little mushy but ok Once again this place made it worth the long drive from westgate. We will continue coming here as it's one of our favorite sushi places. This restaurant is a great spot for a get together, because the vibes are friendly and lighthearted. The AYCE sushi and the lunch combos are both really good deals so they're my go to. My japanese mom was surprised by the quality of fish, she told me she liked the chirashi. The entree food comes in large portions, i had plenty to take home to eat for lunch the next day. The server and host was very friendly and fun to talk to. The owner of restaurant was very sweet also!! The prices on yelp are all a dollar or two more expensive than the menu so don't let that discourage you from trying some of the best sushi in the valley!!!!! read more

Came to Orient Sushi Grill for lunch and it did not disappoint! I specifically came for their all you can option which has a very good variety of sushi, appetizers, and food plates. For the price of $23 it is definitely worth it! We only got sushi this time around with 2 appetizers (calamari and gyoza). No complaints on any of the rolls. The gyoza was good and the calamari was good but I wasn't a big fan of the breading. It appears it's butter fried which I don't know if that makes a big difference compared to actual bread crumbs or how I normal have eaten fried calamari. Other than that everything was amazing and will definitely be coming back! They also have a normal menu without the all you can eat option which is listed in the pictures. read more

We have been going to this restaurant for years and it use to be very good food and service!! It is also close to our home. Now the only server that is very good, which is ( Tony ) and he does not work on Wednesday. I took my family there on my Granddaughter birthday on Wednesday and had the worst service from a older Asian lady that forgot everything and than had to be reminded her several time about our dinner and drinks. She forgot to bring out several of our orders and had to let her know about it. She act like she is mad a the world and lost in space. After the terrible service, she charge my credit card a 20% tips on a $200+ bill for crappy service we got from her. She did not ask me if it was OK to do so! The owner said that anytime there is more than five people in your party, that they charge the tip even if you get crappy service. I ready like the owners, but they need to changes there servers and policy on how to take care of their customers. If I go back to this restaurant I will leave if the put her with my family again. I do not minded paying someone a good tip if they earn it by taking care of us. read more

Ordered tempura and fried rice from them yesterday. Another person and I got really bad food poisoning from it. Had diarrhea and vomiting all night long. When I called the restaurant, the manager (he said his name is Win) said, "Go get a health insurance and go to a doctor. We never had any issue of food poisoning from any customer. Every time I come in, I typically have larger parties, and they do an amazing job accommodating us. We do all you can eat every time, and the food is always flowing fast. From the moment you put a food order in, they are very quick at bringing out the food that is ordered. The quality is the best I've had in Arizona, and when I try other sushi places around the country, they never compare to Orient. You can have it delivered directly from them on their website for less than the food delivery companies (within a certain mile radius). Their sushi portions are huge! Vegan reviewer here! I've eaten at this spot many but I went in a couple months ago for the first time in a couple years with my entire family of 15 (adults and kids) for my post graduation dinner. We called in a reservation a couple days before stopping in on a Friday night. We were seated immediately and our order was taken maybe 15 minutes later. The food comes out as it is made so don't expect to all eat at the same time. I ordered the avocado roll, cucumber roll, the avocado salad and garlic edamame all modified vegan (stating no butter or mayonnaise just in case). My appetizer arrived shortly after and they accidentally brought out regular edamame but replaced it quickly. Once corrected, the garlic edamame was delicious! My salad and sushi rolls came out quickly and wow! They load that thing with avo. It was also a lot larger compared to normal maki rolls you can find at other sushi spots. Everything was fresh and didn't taste fishy or cross contaminated. I have some picky eaters in my family and everyone was really impressed with their meals. We ordered a pretty good variety of food: appetizers, salads, soups, entrees and sushi. I'm glad everyone in my family, including the kids, had no complains about their meals. They still have their all you can eat sushi deal for $23 which includes A LOT of options including vegan options. The sushi quality is still on point as I remember. This sushi place knows how to make good sticky rice! The rolls are all so yummy and plenty to choose from. The baked roll was my personal favorite they pack a lot of fun fish/seafood in their and the sauces make it. The Cali roll- we get one at every sushi place we go- you just have to rock the plain one to make sure the basic ones are good. Super fresh and delicious, good portion sizes too. The rolls are usually cut small enough so I'm not stuffing my face and having trouble chewing. We actually ordered another Cali roll because I just loved it! First time trying this place after having seen it in a strip mall. First things first: seating Seating is typical booths and tables with benches. The benches are very uncomfortable for big and mid-sized bottoms so given the choice, go for the chair! We arrived right at 5p and place was pretty empty. We each decided to get the AYCE sushi which was a mistake. I ordered 3 rolls and the table shared two appetizers. There was NO way I could eat more than 30 pieces of sushi without needing medical assistance! Now to the eating portion: I'm just gonna say this-my opinion is that it's not the best place to eat sushi. We ordered different rolls, an assortment of fried and classic sushi and not many of the selections stood apart from my favourite place SushiHolic. The appetizer of fried calamari was excellent, so don't miss this when you get there. There was one standout though, the Las Vegas roll. I don't like fried rolls and this one guaranteed I wouldn't be ordering anymore fried rolls. This roll was mushy and a bit runny. Too much cream cheese I think because it had the consistency of thick, mucus-like yuck. There's a pic attached, see for yourself. All in all the servers were patient and attentive, answering all questions about the menu and pricing. Out shopping on a Friday night and got hungry. One website said that Orient was open until 10PM so we went in at 9:15PM. We were expecting a wait because usually we have to wait 30 minutes. To our surprise there was no wait and we were seated immediately. We didn't want anything too heavy so the hot and sour soup with a Caribbean Roll was the choice for the night. THE WALNUT SHRIMP!!) There is a generous portion of perfectly steamed broccoli on the side, and the SAUCE and CANDIED WALNUTS are absolutely MAGNIFICENT! I definitely recommend not getting the super California roll because it's a California roll only with masago on top and that's it! Had dinner here tonight with two other people and the food was great, however our waitress was incredibly RUDE. We had to ask her a few times to refill our water and at the end of the dinner when it came to paying for the bill, I added tip to my card AND left cash on the table to add to it. The waitress looked at the amount we gave her and asked us "was your service bad? Was there something I did wrong?" As if $15 wasn't good enough? I was shocked at her comment because I've never experienced a waitress ask that before. This was the second poor experience here when it came to their staff. This is my favorite sushi spot in the Gilbert area! The food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious! I first tried this establishment when I first moved to the Valley and fell in love. Since moving to the East Valley this is our go to "eating out" spot! During quarantine, I'm pretty sure they knew us by name (face palm). I've ordered to go and eaten in the restaurant and have had great experiences each time. The customer service is also great, which always makes any experience nice!
