So after hearing that there are new owners at the Orient Pearl my husband and I decided to go today. It was fabulous. Tina our server was awesome and very attentive. The food was actually the best Chinese we have had in a very long time. Everything was extremely fresh and the portions were huge. I hardly ever get any dish that has shrimp because usually the shrimp are small. We had a shrimp dish and the shrimp were huge. Even the shrimp in the house rice were larger than anywhere else we have had it. The crab Rangoon were stuffed perfectly with fresh ingredients. Everything was served hot and delicious. (3) of us went to $15.95 lunch buffet at 1 pm Friday afternoon. Only one steam table in use. Other steam table held empty sushi boat. Ate (1) full plate, very good but when check came we were charged for sushi (none of us had any as there was none to be had and there was no signage stating sushi was an additional upcharge if we did), also charged for "tall" Mai Tai's which none of us asked for or ordered, waitress justified it by stating "people usually order another drink so she made it a "tall". Each of us paid approximately $36 with tip. When we asked the manager about the additional charges, he called the waitress over and she claimed she didn't add those charges (but they were clearly shown on the receipt). This was followed by a back and forth exchange in Chinese and a promise it would be "taken care of". Summary: Good food, but watch the charges. None of us wanted to spend $36 each on lunch and I don't like the subterfuge. read more

The first time we went, we sat inside. We loved this food! the rice and the egg rolls were not greasy at all, yet very tasty. the service was very friendly and helpful, and the seating was comfortable. plenty of leftovers. since then we order take out and it is always ready and the order is always correct. no issues at all. Since the new ownership this place has gone down hill. Althought he is trying, I think the focus is not on the correct needs of local customers. To list a few things: 1. The drinks are awful!! They need a real bar tender and not serve the pre-mix scorpian bowls. They taste like Hawiaan Punch. Literally - did not get even a slight buzz after drinking two of them! 2. The food was cold and appeared to be sitting around in the kitchen. Nothing tasted fresh. The ginger and hot mustard even tasked old!! It's too bad - it's a great location, but the time and energy needs to be put into the food first and then the atmosphere..... On a good note - the sushi is fairly good. read more

Good restaurant in a nice area. The food was well prepared and presented, and the restaurant is in a very easy to find location, right on the Calef Highway. The ownership/management recently changed, but the quality of food and service have remained high. Definitely recommend this restaurant, and can't wait to go back. read more

DISGUSTING! Had a terrible waiter and we waited almost an hour for our food! Ordered boneless spareribs, GROSS! I don't know what was on them, but it was not Asso sauce! And it came as a little pile on my plate the pieces were about 1/2" in size. My beef Teriyaki was practically raw! Crab Rangoon was not bad, and my chicken fingers were good. My husband got a Sushi plate, that was a ball of hot rice with some kind of spice on it, about 6 tiny pieces of tuna. It had more garnishes on it than food! And it was $25.00! The waiter came to our table with 2 bowls of Miso Soup, one bowl comes with Sushi. He puts it on the table, and I said, I did not order that, I don't even like it. And then I saw him remove it from our check. My husband likes it, but said it was disgusting, really salty. Total rip off! We used to go there a lot and loved it. Under new ownership and I don't think they will be in business long. We should have known, not one person at the bar and there may have been 15 people in there counting us. My plate the waiter gave me was dirty it had food all over it! I asked for another one from a girl that walked by because our waiter had disappeared, she gave me a plate with a bunny and easter eggs all over it. That was all worn out! Guess what, it was dirty! And the plates were plastic all worn out! What kind of restaurant uses worn out plastic plates? Plastic glasses for water. I have never seen a restaurant use plastic glasses for water! They had paper tablecloths on the tables, which is ok if they were throwing them away after each customer, but they didn't there was a girl cleaning them after customers left with a wet dish rag! We used to come to this place regularly before the pandemic, so we were anxious to return. I called to make sure they had the buffet. They do, but it's different. And twice the price! Where the deserts were, they now have sushi for an up charge. So I picked up a plate to go at the salad bar and a waiter took it out of my hands and said that he's serve me. He said that his top priority is serving the best food around, and he is definitely doing that. So, we've never had a bad experience here before, until now. My fiancée and I ordered out tonight. Got home, and realized pretty quick that the chicken was literally rotten. First bite you could taste the decaying rotten chicken. Then I broke open one and smelt it. Ughh.. . Horrid smell. The crab Rangoon too you could tell was reheated and rubbery. We drove from Gilford down to Epping specifically to try this fine Chinese restaurant. We were very pleased with the service. Tina was outstanding, and the food was prepared with perfection. We've eaten Chinese food in the Phoenix area and Las Vegas for the past 40 years and nothing has come close to the quality and taste as what we experienced at the Orient Pearl. Always very clean. A plus for any restaurant. The staff lurk over you and it is very awkward. If a person leaves without paying the server has to pay the bill. Being that this is the case I can understand the reason they watch every move. This is a tone at the top issue since the servers are not the ones seating people and should be held partly responsible. This place is insane on Christmas Eve, delays so long that the servers bring you the food that is cooked, NOT what you ordered. This statement is 100% factual. The food has been great on each of my visits to Orient Pearl, which is a full service Chinese and Japanese restaurant and bar. I've stopped in here for lunch takeout a few times if I happened to be driving through the area. The service has been prompt at the front counter placing my orders and receiving my food in 10 minutes or less. I've ordered off the Chinese Luncheon Specials menu, which are served with pork fried rice and choice of appetizer or soup for $6.25 plus tax. The Shrimp Lo Mein was very good, which tasted fresh with a mix of tender shrimp (cleaned), vegetables, and firm noodles. The pork fried rice was cooked fresh and one of the best I've had in NH, which has a mix of peas, carrots, onions, egg, and tender roast pork in fluffy rice cooked just right (sometimes sprouts are added). The Shrimp With Vegetables was also very good, which tender jumbo shrimp (cleaned) and fresh vegetables in a flavorful sauce. The Hot & Sour Soup was great which had a mix of egg, pork, vegetables, bamboo, fungi, & scallions in a spicy broth. I can't wait to return to Orient Pearl for lunch! We heard the Orient Pearl was under new management and decided to give them another try today for my mother's 75th birthday. We got take out for 20 people and it was fantastic. Some of the best we have had in a very long time. It was ready in 20 minutes, even with our large order. Everything we ordered was fresh and cooked perfectly. Our guests were also very happy with the food. The new owner/manager was extremely personable and welcoming when my husband and son went to pick up the order. We will be back soon! read more

This was my go to place but the last 2 visits made our stomachs turn. The sweet and sour had pineapple in it that was rancid and stopped us from eating another bite. The second time I did the buffet and my wife got a vegetable dish. It was near the time the buffet was to end so there was slim pickings on the buffet. I went to get some chicken fingers in the corner when the waiter came over to the buffet and started picking vegetables that were there for some time and places them on my wife's dish. He didn't notice I was there and saw him going over food that was obviously not fresh. I returned to the table and was sick to my stomach once again. My boyfriend and I enjoyed this place. The atmosphere here is wonderful! They have glowing lights by the tables and the red and black interior is a nice touch, and they have nice wall decorations. As for the food, our shrimp tempura sushi was nice and crispy, but on the smaller side compare to other sushi places. The Tahiti fruit punch was very sweet. Our pupu platter was very good. I really enjoyed and recommend the crab ragoon here, the best I've had in the area. Our waiter was nice, but didn't seem that enthusiastic to be at work today. I have no idea about safety or indoor dining, I'm here to review their food. I've had takeout there twice now, first time it was really good it might've been a fluke so we went back. First night of takeout was Christmas, pick up was ready when we got there, the crab Rangoon was the best I've ever had! The garlic chicken sauce was absolutely delicious. The Lo mein was good, nothing special but good. Everything I've ordered has been good or great, I've eaten at Asian Breeze, mei's kitchen and like both but Orient Pearl is by far the best!! read more
