Orchid's Nail Salon took down their price list which I thought was strange. I also called to make an appointment a week in advance, and a certain time was given to me which was fine, but then they called me the day of my appointment to tell me my time was changed from 10:30am to 9:00am in which I was very distributed of why my appointment time was changed, in which I received the call of my appointment at 9:00am. Also, they let two people to do your nails, and one to do your feet, so that they both can get tips. This is not acceptable, and very unhappy with that kind of service. read more

Got an acrylic set with gel and regular pedi and I love how they turned out! The staff is very kind and welcoming, and they take the covid precautions seriously. Prices are also reasonable. Only thing is that I wish they knew how to do more complicated designs, but I'm also a fan of this simple style so I'm not mad about it! read more

Every time I come to this nail salon I am pleasantly surprised! I usually keep my nails pretty short which most nail places usually don't like, but the girls at Orchid's acted like it was no big deal and gave me an awesome gel manicure and gel pedicure! And because of how short my nails were, the owner even told me while painting my nails that if I had a chip or anything over the next week, I could still come back in and get it touched up! I went to this nail salon after reading the reviews on yelp. A part of me knew that I wouldn't be satisfied with my manicure results but I tried it out anyways (I'm new to Newark area). The first thing that I realized is that this salon was missing basic essentials at each station such as lamps, elbow pads for client comfort, some type of covering on surface area, and fans for nail drying. I asked for my old acrylics to be removed and a regular polish mani. The older lady was very sweet but it was the worst experience. Typically, when removing acrylics a thin blade is used to pop the acrylic off of the nail bed, however this lady asked me to soak my fingers in acetone for minutes at a time about 5-6 separate times. After each soak she used her tools to buffer the acrylic off. After the forth or fifth soak she began to shape my nails without asking which shape I liked (so she decided I was doing square).... okay fine. No big deal. Than she cleaned the cuticles. I noticed that there were still a significant amount of acrylic remaining on my nails so I mentioned it to her. She AGAIN asked me to soak them in acetone (which was pretty painful after cuticle cleaning). On the final buffer to remove the acrylic... she just kept going over my nails which thinned them our very badly. Then she filed and shaped them again which shortened the nail length I wanted. Next she polished my nails horribly. Polish was all over my skin... and as mentioned previously they didn't have a fan at the station so she just layered my nails with polish without letting the layers dry. Then she had me sit at a community fan area for about 10-15 minutes. FINALLY I WAS DONE OVER AN HOUR AND $21 LATER!!! And the polish was still wet. Not even 30 minutes after leaving the salon I had two chipped nails and the polish was rippled and smudged. I just gave up... I went home and took off the polish and cut my nails short. My end goal was to have the acrylic removed but god this was just not a pleasant experience. I don't plan on ever going back.... not to mention that my fingers smelled like acetone the entire day. read more

Seriously. I LOVE Orchid Nails. This is the only place worth going to get your nails done in Bear. The ladies there are so kind, so genuine, so fun, and it's just obvious they care about their clients. Customers come in and the ladies at Orchid know them by name. They chat like they're old friends. I have never seen that at any nail salon, ever. It's usually a lot of awkward silences and chatter in their native tongue. But 90% of the conversations in Orchid are nail technician to client. That would be enough in itself, but these ladies do really quality manicures. They take so much time even on just a basic manicure that you feel like you're really being pampered. I was actually so impressed with them after my first time in the salon that I went and got my nails done here 2 days before my wedding. I was having trouble finding exactly what I wanted, and one of the ladies (not my technician) really helped me AND the lady doing my nails did such an amazing job. After my last review she contacted me about the issue apologized for the inconvenience, and even offered to do my next full set personally at no charge to me. This was very professional and I can tell she was genuinely concerned about resolving the problem. She really takes pride in her business and cares about her customers which you don't see at many nail salons. Anyways I took her up on her offer I went in yesterday 4/1/16 I got a pedi, full set w/gel polish (wide variety of gel and reg polish colors) and eye brow/lip waxing, all of my services turned out great I have no complaints I will defiantly be back. read more

Horrid!! The worst!! I spent 29 dollars for a REGULAR pedicure just so it could get fkd up less than an hour later and I had to remove the nail polish myself because it just got all scraped up and atrocious. First off since when does a regular pedicure cost 29 dollars? It's not like I got a French pedicure or something fancy. Second, I had a feeling this wasn't turning out well since the lady that was doing my pedicure kept removing and reapplying the coat. I don't even know how many coats she ended up putting on but it was definitely the reason why the nail polish wouldn't hold up. I gave enough time for my toenails to dry so it couldn't have been me. Granted I put my socks and sneakers back on since I didn't have sandals on but at least one of the nails already had tiny holes in them and the rest looked like a shit job since she left traces of nail polish slash nail polish remover adjustment all around. Just wow. 29 dollars spent for nothing and now I gotta redo the pedicure from scratch once I get back to New York. Ridiculous. read more

The salon itself is old and run down. Does not seem very sanitary. Do not see anything to sterilize tools out front. The nail file and heel scrubber seems like it has been used one too many times. I got a gel manicure which was ok. No hand massage really, they just apply lotion. Pedicure took almost 1hr and 15 min, it was painti and nails kept digging into my skin the whole time. Nail polish was not very neatly applied. Lastly, the massage chair sucks. I don't know how this place has such high ratings. Will not be returning. read more

The environment was lovely and the employees were very sweet and talkative, they had lifetime movies playing so customers could watch. I give it 3 stars for the actually service. I had an older lady do my fill, first off she put powder acrylic on top of my gel (I wasn't aware there was a difference since this was my first fill). While it was nice she took her time and helped me pick a color my nails have a few bumps in them and the technician did not start close to my cuticles. I would try this place again just with a different technician, the owner seemed super fast and her regulars loved her. If you're going here, ask for her! read more

I read the reviews and decided that I would try them. What a mistake that was. After 2 1/2 and $80.00 later I was hugely disappointed. My pedi took over and hour and half and the tech did not speak English at all. When I finally made it to my mani the girl was terrible. I had to tell her to fix my nails over and over again. I was to tired of dealing with her I left because I was going to blow a gasket. My nails are crooked among the other things that are wrong with them. The charge was $40.00 just for the mani. It was not worth the $40.00 I paid for them. I hate it when I am put in the position to get nasty with anyone and continue to tell them how to do their job and that is why I chose to leave. I normally don't go to this nail salon, but I thought I would give it a try since it was closer to my house then the one I normally go to. I got a pedicure and a gel manicure (french), and my total was $64. I was a little surprised at the total, apparently the pedicures are $28 and the gel manicure was $31 + $5 for the french tip. I get the cost for the gel manicure, that sounds about normal and she did a good job. I wasn't really impressed with the pedicure for the cost. She didn't trim my nails nor did she file them down, just shaped them....who wants long toe nails??!!! Also, this salon doesn't do the scrapey thing, you know like the cheese grater thing.....which I think is the part that really gets the job done. I just don't feel like overall $28 for a pedicure was worth it here. The decor is so-so, and there aren't any extra's to make it feel high-end either (I know it's in a strip mall, but some salons do paint and accessorize the salon for that lux feel). I will say that the women working there were very friendly, and the clientele there is just as nice. I did not like that they kept pressuring me to "like" them on Facebook while I was getting my pedicure, they really could have saved that for when I was checking out. Additionally, they were taking pictures for their Facebook and would not accept my request to NOT have my picture taken, and then they proceeded to place it on their page. I thought it was rude and disrespectful. The bottom line is that I would not return here. There was nothing "special" about this salon for them to justify a $28 pedicure, and while the staff was very pleasant, I really could have gone without them shoving their social media down my throat while I'm trying to get a relaxing service done. read more

The staff was very friendly and professional, however the woman that did my mani/pedi was terrible. Her techniques was horrible my nails were crooked and she did not do a good job on my cuticles at all. I'll never go back to this salon. I started going here years ago & at first I loved it but it's changed over time. Back in October I went to get my nails done for a wedding I was in, French pedicure and French full set. They raised their prices, when I was told how much it cost I was in shock. $90.. Just insane. Went again, walked inside and wasn't even acknowledged. One of the workers even looked right at me and just walked away, no hello, no I'll be right with you. Nothing. The place wasn't even busy. So I just stood there and minutes later someone finally asked me if I needed help. I finally just ended up walking out. I'll never go back. Not to mention one of the workers was doing some type of painting, arts and crafts on the floor while I was waiting. Is that what you're there for? To paint a banner, or to help customers? The girls used to be personal but I've noticed over time that if you aren't a regular or one of their favorites, you get treated like a nobody. Shouldn't all customers be treated the same way? Over the last few years, anytime I was there, there was only maybe one or two other customers that were there as well, obviously not getting much business for a reason.
