I went in to get a pedicure for french tips as well as acrylic French tip on my hands the lady that did my feet did an amazing job I love them but for the lady that did my nails not so much I would assume French tip would be an easy design but I guess not the lady who did my hands was rushing and did a terrible job I payed 125 for both my hands and feet I left feeling disappointed and called the next morning to see if they could fix it which the man replied to come in so I did I was expecting them to like redo them but no she just retraced the lines and sent me on my way I even showed her the picture of what I wanted and of course it was the same lady that did it smh I feel like the women in there were also talking about me in there own language and I felt very unc I definitely can say it is a lesson learned and I will not be going back ever again read more

Have been coming here for 5 years, but will not be back! I came in requesting a manicure, was asked if I wanted a gel manicure, to which replied, NO. I was given one anyway. When I came back for another manicure, she insisted again on a gel manicure. What I got was a sloppy manicure and the cold shoulder! I even had to ask for Amy to carry my handbag to the drying station. Good bye and good riddance from my 2 daughters, 3 sisters, 6 nieces, numerous friends, as well as myself! If I wasn't so embarrassed about how terrible my pedi is I would upload a picture for you. I was in the area and needed to kill time so I decided to get a basic pedicure. I kid you not, this may be the worst pedi I've ever paid for. I had to stop the lady from cutting my toenails that were already cut too short, the "massage" was her rubbing my legs for 5 mins without touching the actual foot at all, the hot towel smelled like mildew, and the polish was unbelievably sloppy and uneven. I actually didn't realize just how bad it was until I had already left and went to my other appointment or I don't think I would have paid much less tipped anything at all. I am now in my usual nail salon getting my nails painted again within the same day. A waste of $22 plus $8 tip. Don't waste your time read more

If I could give this place less than a star I would. When I first sat down the owner tried to make me take all of my nails off for a fill in in which I constantly told him didn't need to do so because I just got a fresh set two weeks prior. After talking to the tech to fix my nails he tells me a day to come back, I come on scheduled day and he isn't there. Terrible experience. After 3 days of trying to get my nails fixed Huey proceeded to tell me it's not his fault it's my fault due to the choice of nail Polish. Huey told me I was picky simply because I was informing him of his errors. Which as you can see the outcome of my nails which are still clumpy, sloppy and bumpy. After growing tiresome of feeling as though I have to explain why I am not satisfied with my nails he continued to remind that he did a good job on my nails which he didn't. When I requested for him to soak off My nails because I wasn't satisfied he told me it's $40 dollars because I am picky and he will get someone else to do it. I did feel as if it he was being rude. This was my first and LAST time here. He didn't buff my nails correctly nor did he tend to cuticle. If you have another option for a nail salon please go to your other option!! read more

Would not recommend! I usually go to the part-time gentleman that sits in the back. He really knows how to do nails. 3/1/24 I had to go a little early had a 3:30 appt. for a refill. I was assigned the lady who sits in the very front on the very right hand seat. I knew from the start that my nails were gonna look like crap, she was rushing. Color was very pretty however, the shape of my nails was off, she cut them way too short. Nails were previously coffin shape. She filed them very straight up and down on one side and then slanted on the other. No coffin shape. I still paid for the service and tipped of course. I love how the part-time technician does my nails, but I will never be back here. Nail tech needs relearning on her nail skills, form, technique and shape. On a hilarioud note - I got in the car, looked at my nails and bit the tips off, then went home and used my own drill to drill them down some so I could take them off and figure it out from there. i am a very picky person with my nails and feet!!! i have been a beautician for 33years so that may explain some of why i am so picky. but i moved to north east, md. a yr.ago and tried to find a nail tech well needless to say i have been to 5 different places and this last one i couldn't believe how this girl did my nails!!!! unbelievable!!! i had to file my own,and then she bitched because it took her too long to do my feet!! i almost died!!!! when did pedicures change?? i thought when u get a reg. pedicure u get ur feet soaked w/ a drop of blue cleaning tablet or powder ,scrubbed,all the dead skin takin off with callus remover or by hands or razor,cuticles removed,toe nails cut then filed,legs lotioned,possibly a message if they want an extra tip and then cleaned up anything extra they might have missed before polishing!!?????? o and then the polish!!! no polish on the skin!!!??? welll.... i didn't get half that and she bitched & embarrassed me,then i had to file my own nails o hell no!!!!! so i googled & yelped sunlight salon, llc and saw they had almost 5*. so i didn't care how far i had to go at this point cuz i just wanted a nice, clean,relaxing,respectful and people that remembered wat it was like to give a real pedicure! so i called and they take walk-ins and apts. so i went in and received the best ever spa pedicure by tom!!! the place was busy but so quiet! it was so darn clean i was afraid to use the bathroom, lol-lol!!! the bottles of polish were not all dirty!! they were very nice!! they even sang to me!! lol-lol!! i definitely recommend this place for all ur spa needs!!! they were wonderful!!!!thank you tom,thank you sunlight salon!!! see ya soon,danann read more

Visited Sunlight Salon in People's Plaza for the first time yesterday. Believe me, it won't be my last visit! This gem of a nail salon is a real find. Heiu did my nails perfectly! He was friendly, respectful and took his time. The salon was clean and well organized. The other nail techs were all friendly with the customers (not just with each other). I am very disappointed in my nails. I called before time and had an appointment and it took them 45 minutes to get me back even though it was slow. Also I had a very aggressive nail tech. He was polite but aggressive with my hands and made me bleed when he was filing my nails. I asked for regular nail polish and he kept asking me for liquid gel. I told him no multiple times but he wasn't listening to me. He kept asking me if I wanted extra things when I specifically said what I wanted from the beginning. read more

I started coming to this location a few months ago. I was interested in them because they were in the same plaza where I worked and the fact that they took walk-ins was convenient. The wait time can vary, even if you had an appointment. Frequent customers that they had would just walk in and go to the station where their favorite nail tech was, by-passing all of the other waiting customers. Whether they had an appointment or not, no one knows. Anyways, the only nice nail tech that was actually good at his job was always booked up. I'd get lucky and come when he was free, but he was always usually booked. That was always unfortunate because he was the only one that wouldn't mess up my nails or do them half-assed. Whenever I'll come in, the only one available to do my nails was a younger woman. She's quirky and funny, but her nail technique is terrible. She usually always got the shape right, when it came to curing the nail polish... it was always done so quickly. I've had to come back three times because my gel polish had peeled off in the shower or while I was sleeping! And every time I'd come back in, I was always asked "What did you do?" as if it was my fault. The owner, Annie, is a snide woman that takes zero responsibility for anything. If I come in, as a paying customer, and tell you that your nail tech messed up my nail, wouldn't you try to fix it? Instead, she said "The girl's back there. Just go." Really? I could also get into how I was over-charged every time I'd get my eyebrows waxed (and wouldn't get a straight answer from anyone), but this review is already long enough. They do not have enough OPI colors to choose from, so I have been going elsewhere until they get more colors. I could just bring my own, but if I am paying for it, I should not have to supply my own OPI. read more

I had been to this location once before for a pedicure and it was enjoyable and decided to return again in the future for a gel manicure. When I went again I went with a friend and allowed her to go before me. I waited in the waiting area for a while and i think the other nail techs assumed I was just waiting for my friend and ignored me while others someone else came in after me and was assisted right away. I was a little upset but the nail tech, Tom, was almost done with my friend so I just waited. Tom finished with my friends gel manicure and started mine. he had asked if i wanted any other services and i said that i wanted to get my chin and eyebrows waxed that day. He asked if i wanted to do my lip as well and i said no. The manicure was fine and he was nice throughout it but the manicure was done too quickly and as I got up to get my waxing done I noticed how uneven the paint was and that there was a smudge on one of the nails. I contemplated not saying anything but decided that for 27 dollars I needed to. I asked the lady who was doing my eyebrows and chin who I could speak to about getting them fixed she looked at them agreed they were done sloppily and she told me to speak to the manager and to ask to have them fixed. Meanwhile she was waxing me and after doing my eyebrows started to do my lip. Keep in mind that I had paid for all the services after getting my nails done/ before the waxing. I did not pay for the lip, only chin and eyebrows. She started putting wax on my lip and I had told her that I needed my chin done she nodded and said ok. I think there was a miscommunication between Tom and her who had told her what areas I wanted waxed. I had started to say I did not pay for my lip but by that point she had already done my lip and I went with it. As I went to find the manager to ask about getting my nails fixed he was friendly and had Tom do a touch up with more paint. Tom asked me why I went to the manager and not to him instead with my concerns. He then stated that he thought I didn't want to do my lip. I told him I didn't and that the lady just put wax on and did it fairly quickly and that there was a miscommunication. He looked concerned and then told me to make sure i brought this up with the manager. He fixed my nails and he started explaining the waxing mix up with his manager. The manager seemed agitated and as I was pulling out a few dollars to tip Tom for fixing my nails the manager started lecturing me for not paying for the service and not saying anything he told me he should have made me pay but would not this time. I was embarassed and annoyed and less then one week later my nails chipped bad. Not impressed save yourself the money and go elsewhere. read more

I needed a last minute appointment and they were able to accommodate. Due to Covid 19, they took the temperature of each customer and had barriers between the client and the nail technician which was great . Huie did my nails and he did an AMAZING job. I'm very picky about my shape and prefer coffin which he did very well. They were not too thick and were evenly shaped. When I told him I didn't like the color that I initially selected he had no problem with changing it and even suggested a better color. All of my nails are shaped differently, my dip powder is still sticky (which it never should be sticky), and there's divers in my nails because they weren't done properly. Do not get your manicure done here. They are lazy, sloppy and do not care about the final result. Of course, like most salons, there are going to be a few staff members who are talented and great. However, the husband and wife who own and run the salon are the sloppiest nail techs I've ever experienced. I get acrylic overlay on my natural nails, and if you are familiar with this then you know how frustrating it is when the acrylic is slabbed on, thick and chunky. Its not unusual for myself (or a handful of my friends, who also go there on occasion) to have to return again to have them fix the sloppy job. This takes more time out of another day and isn't worth it. Save your time and frustration and go somewhere else for a manicure. (They do have fabulous pedicures though. Most of them take their time and for $22, you get a great experience.) read more
