Really awful experience after many months of going to Zen for pedicures! My original tech was busy so they gave me another tech, the gel polish started to peel and chip off the same day. I notified the salon and explained what happened; they requested I return asap to have it fixed. I didn't end up making it until much later than expected and they refused to correct their original mistake. I've luckily found a new salon down the road, rather than the 30min hike I was making to Zen! Everything happens for a reason! I have been using Zen for years and I have always had a quality experience and my nails usually last much longer than any other place I ever gone. This past visit on October 18 leaves me very dissatisfied within a week and a half my nails were starting to pop up from a brand new set. They are wiggly and I am really unsatisfied. Needed a pedicure and decided to check this place out. I got there right when they opened. I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of color choices! Once I picked my color out my technician got started right away. I was offered a complimentary drink of wine, soda or water , but I declined. They do offer upgraded pedicures, but I opted for just a regular gel pedicure. I am glad I arrived as soon as they opened. The salon was packed as I was leaving. If you schedule an appointment, you still have to wait sometimes 15-20 minutes. I got a gel manicure and pedicure and my manicure has already chipped after only 4 days and I do not work with my hands. I'm a teacher. Gel is supposed to last at least a week. Before my fingers were done, the lady doing my toes showed someone else my hands and they started laughing seemingly at my nails. I have not been to Zen in a few months but they almost always do a good job. To my surprise some recent renovations have taken place creating more space. I happy for this because they now can accommodate more technicians and of course my customers. I enjoy the pampering and the luxurious experience. Alcohol and Nonalcoholic Beverages are offered when get a pedicure. I was happy to have two technicians working in my nails simultaneously. Karla did a great job in my gel pedicure. Unfortunately prices increased substantially and the nail techs are becoming extremely unprofessional. I've seen staff treating polite customers with disrespect. I'm writing as a boyfriend to a wonderful partner. My partner had visited The Zen Nail in Newark, DE where it can understandably get very busy. My partner scheduled an appointment to receive a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure went really well, but the manicure did not... At first! I'm unsure of the nail tech, but from my understanding it had started off well, but became rushed towards the end of my partner's service, leaving her nails improperly cured and without the requested chrome finish. I then spoke with the managerial staff, as these nails were meant for her graduate school graduation, and Chloe did an amazing job with getting us in with a nail tech who took my partner's requests seriously! After each step of the service, he checked in with my partner to see if she was satisfied with that step, and if not he restarted the step without complaint. Huge let-down I was really excited to get a mani/pedi here with my wife after being on the road for six hours. Reviews looked great, and it was along our route to NJ. I called to make reservations for both of us, and confirmed we wouldn't have a wait once we got there. When we walked in, the place looked nice. We were greeted by one of the techs giving a mani, and asked to sign ourselves in. We were about 10 minutes early to our reservation. Half an hour later, we were sat down in massage chairs to start off with pedicures. My wife's pedi started then. I was left waiting another 20 minutes though before someone checked to see what kind of pedicure I wanted and start. I let them know I wanted the men's sport manicure ($31) and to add extra massage to it. They seemed confused by this. They told me it would be an extra $5 for five minutes of massage. I asked if it would be $36 total, and they told me multiple times it would be $41. Confused, I settled on just what was listed in the menu for the regular men's pedicure. I saw this place on Facebook and I decided to try it out! I'm very picky about where I go, but my home nail salon was closed and I had a broken and painful acrylic nail. I did a walk in and as soon as I walked in I was seated after sign in. The vibe here was so chill, they play calming music, the asthetic is giving and it feels very upscale. They have a bar and offer complimentary cocktails of which are super cute and taste so good! I Definitely felt bougie with my margarita! The girl who did my nails name was Holly and she was super sweet and quick, yet efficient. I was so pleased with my nails and the atmosphere. It was super busy consistently, but that can be a good sign. Holly made my nails look natural and not super thick acrylic layers, which I appreciated. There were realistically a few cons to this place and one was was the prices, I got a FILL and it was 52$, they up charged for very small things, but I didn't complain because the drink was cute and tasty, I assumed that's where the rest of it came from LOL. There is someone that comes up to you in the middle of your service to tell you the price of your nails, and there is a an up charge if you're using a card which I found strange. I was surprised to see the changes at this place having been to this location when it was a different name under different ownership. This place looks very upscale and the new renovations are beautiful. The pedicure area in the back is so relaxing with low lighting and spa music playing. The last 2 time I've been there were amazing but my 3rd visit was painful. Everything was fine until I got PARONYCHIA (formation of pus). This usually happens when bacteria gets inside the nail. I went on Wednesday April 17th 2024 and was seated and a male was my technician. I didn't ask for his name but I do remember he had tattoos all over him but besides that the service (full set acrylic $70) felt very much rushed and I think that's what lead to me getting this infection and have had it for the past 3 weeks.
