My best friend came here and got me an orchid for my birthday. I picked out the Golden Yellow moth orchid which had the prettiest clean golden yellow color I had ever seen on an orchid. The leaves were light green and very healthy. Most orchids here are 45 dollars. There were many orchids but most were just nicer versions of what you can find at cheaper places like Whole Foods. There were some exotic ones that looked like giant three feet tall yellow orchid trees with sprays of tiny yellow orchids. Since the moth orchid is easy to care for, I opted for the moth. Note that the orchids priced at 45 dollars don't come with pots. The orchid is displayed in a pretty pot but the plant doesn't come with it so be prepared to dish out more cash if you want a pot too. Since I have many pots at home, we just purchased the orchid. The purchase came with a tip option which is strange since it's not a service or restaurant. The florist did tuck it nicely into a box and some tissue paper. He gave us plenty of good instructions like make sure the orchid is bone dry before watering again (every 2-3 weeks). He advised a small amount of fertilizer with each watering and no fertilizer during the winter months. After a five dollar tip for his orchid tips and taxes, my unpotted orchid in a thin plastic container came to 55 dollars. I would say that this is a great place to get orchids for a seasoned orchid lover but you can definitely buy very nice ones for about one third of the price at the local supermarkets like TJ's or Whole Foods. They also carry really exotic ones you can't find at supermarkets though I don't know how hard it would be to keep them healthy. In any case, I'm already thinking about going back to check out the tree like orchid and to talk to the florist about how hard it would be to own one. Felipe is an orchid master. And a gentleman. When the orchid that our children had purchased for my wife began showing signs of deterioration, which turned out to be under watering, he showed us what was wrong and the technique to remedy it. And all of my orchids look better now. That orchid is now healthy and strong. And then when an orchid that she purchased for me for my birthday died within a month, still not sure why, he gave us another one. Felip was WONDERFUL to work with as I came to him about two weeks before my Zoom-Covid wedding in June 2020 asking for a peach and green rustic bohemian bouquet, a centerpiece, and a chuppah. He and his team went to the Temple the day before to set up as well as coming early to set up the chuppah. His team stayed during the ceremony and helped when wind tried to knock down the chuppah--above and beyond. The flowers were truly show stopping--he captured my vision of succulents and peach roses and ranunculus and added in orchids and so many others. We got so many compliments on the flowers from over 400 guests watching on Zoom, and he sent over a complimentary bouquet after the wedding to apologize for the chuppah--which was the wind, not his, fault! I absolutely loved working with Felip, and his floral arrangements made my wedding at the Brazil Room look stunning. I have to admit, I wasn't a big fan of spending a lot on wedding flowers that we'd just throw away the next day, but I am so glad that we did. Felip is a genius when it comes to flowers. The flowers for my wedding turned out to be stunning. We had worked for a few months on the design, and they came together beautifully. While I didn't really care what kind of flowers I had, I knew I really wanted to incorporate feathers into all the bouquets and arrangements - and Felip was the only florist I spoke with who could make that happen and seemed to share my vision. I will say, however, that he is not the most responsive. I felt that unless I physically went into the shop, I couldn't get answers from him. As the wedding got closer, I would try to call with questions or to clarify something, and would often get no answer. Emails would go unanswered for a week, or only part of my email would be answered or responded to, and there was a lot of back and forth at the very end (up to 2 days before the wedding) over the final contract and costs. In the end, the flowers came together BEAUTIFULLY - so much better than I could have hoped for. Felip is expensive, but in my opinion, it was worth it! read more

Felip at Orchid Florist did the ceremony and personal florals for our wedding at the Berkeley Country Club in April 2018. He and his team did an AMAZING job and EXCEEDED our expectations!!! Felip was easy to work with - we met once and gave him an idea of what we were going for (a few photos and some color / flower choices) and the end product was so so wonderful. Ours was a relatively small order, including: bridal bouquet, personal flowers (boutonnieres + corsages), some aisle decor, and the chuppah. Our reception centerpieces were succulents (made by another vendor), but Felip incorporated several succulents into the chuppah decor and into my bridal bouquet. If you are planning a Jewish wedding ceremony, Felip has a rustic birch chuppah that you can rent for a very reasonable price (rental + install/breakdown). We didn't really know what to expect for the chuppah because we really only gave him some basic design / color ideas, but the final setup was amazing. I was really in awe standing under the chuppah during our wedding ceremony. We used a family heirloom as the chuppah canopy, and Felip and his team were very careful and respectful of this item while assembling the chuppah. read more

I didn't know much about flowers, but one sunny Saturday I walked into the shop and Felip was there. I received the Phalaenopsis orchid (Moth Orchid)--listed on the website as the "Lush & Elegant White Orchid") for my wedding anniversary today. The gift was a complete surprise; despite having lived just off Solano for over ten years, I had never noticed the Orchid Florist shop. I certainly wish I had discovered it earlier! Delivery was extremely fast (according to my husband, who ordered the flowers) and they arrived in a lovely light-green planter. The orchids were in full bloom, without a single brown edge or spot; the plant is clearly bursting with health. Felip is amazing! I was getting married at The Brazilian Room in October. I am not a super femme lady. I was so unsure and really didn't know much about flowers except what I thought was pretty. I would have to say I was a more unconventional bride and I was worried that someone would either go too dark or just give me pastels or something horrifying like that. I walked into Orchid Florist and it had so many beautiful flowers and accessories for making beautiful displays. I was nervous and intimidated. Felip was so patient and he told me that he "got me" and saw my vision. I was so shocked because no one "gets me" that quick.
