I've bought flowers from Flor on Fourth over the years because they're next to Stained Glass Garden, where I take classes, and they have a nice selection. But after an incident this weekend, I won't be purchasing from them again. I broke my toe a few months ago and still have trouble walking. After class, I stepped outside with my lunch for some fresh air (and to avoid eating around glass shards and lead). I briefly set my lunch on Flor's empty outdoor table--just long enough to open the container before holding it to eat. Immediately, a staff member came over and scolded me, saying it was a "working table." Before I could even explain or move, she gestured across the street and told me--quite pointedly and passive aggressively--to go eat at those tables instead. For me, with an injured foot, that was a long and painful walk. I wasn't quite sure how to react and on the verge of tears because my foot was in pain and I didn't want to walk further. Other students who saw this also commented on how unnecessarily harsh it came off, even without knowing my limited mobility. Even if their flowers are fine, I don't want to give my business to a shop that treats people with such mean-spiritedness. They didn't just lose me as a customer forever--they lost the goodwill of others who witnessed the interaction as well. read more

Beautiful selection of flowers. Really nice staff. I told her we have a humidity issue in our home and the tulips my daughter brought home for Mother's Day didn't last long. She advised that I try roses. It's nice to see they have Veronica flowers also bc it's my name and you don't see them all the time. Are you kidding me!? Maria, the owner, went above and beyond with a bridal bouquet I ordered (for my sister's civil wedding). First off, I was supposed to meet/discuss with the manager the day before I needed the bouquet to select flowers since they procure fresh flowers from a farm and the selection changes on the daily. Long story short, there was a miscommunication and the shop closed early and I panicked. Maria learned of my situation and drove to the store to build the bouquet herself. She genuinely cared about the quality and didn't want to add flowers that were older, and asked what my sister's overall style and demeanor was so she had an idea on the design. I gave her a budget and she started the build and it came out way more gorgeous than I expected. I thought it was going to be a simple and classic bridal bouquet, but nope--it absolutely exceeded my expectations. I usually only review food places, but this place was too good to me so I have to give credit where it's due. I was eating around the area and decided to walk in because the decor looked gorgeous on the outside. All the staff members were very friendly as soon as I walked in. I'm someone that can't keep a plant alive for the life of me but my girlfriend loves plants, so I wanted to get her something nice. Staff members were able to help me pick out a beautiful plant after asking me some questions like the type of lighting this plant might get. I can tell they were dedicated to making sure client satisfaction as well as the longevity of the plants. The owner was very knowledgeable and was more than happy and patient to help me pick out the right plant to thrive in a low lighting and humid area. If I'm ever in need of plants and flowers, I'll know where to go. These flowers of course are way better than what you'll find at your local grocery store or any other big businesses. You can tell each one was treated with love and care, and a lot of thought goes into arrangements. read more

I love Flor on Fourth Street - shopped there many many times, gotten great flowers, great creativity, great advice. But not today (Octo20). The young woman working there could have been working at the DMV (no offense to the DMV) - disengaged, unhelpful, barely disguised eye roll when I was looking around and maybe could have used her advice or help. Given their track record (and the other reviews) this seems like a very unusual day and I hope not typical at all (I can go to Berkeley Bowl if I just want to pick my own flowers and check out at the checkstand. read more

This flower stand has a beautiful selection of fresh cut flowers that you can't find anywhere else! There was a wide selection of carnations that came in a variation of colors. There was a nice bunch of eucalyptus that I took home to put in my shower. The customer service was on another level!! The staff gave helpful tips on how to care for the fresh cut flowers once they become a beautiful arrangement in your home.
