Our friend Kathy retired Thursday, April 30 and we wanted to send her celebratory flowers. She lives in El Sobrante, so I checked on Yelp for florists in the vicinity and Stems and Petals came up. I called Thursday morning and spoke w/ Pierrette, who was very sweet, helpful and patient w/ the fact that I was not particularly organized in the morning. I told her our price point, and asked that it be delivered Friday. After some searching I found Kathy's address and phone number, and told Pierrette to use her artistic judgement as to the flowers and design. Tonight our couples book group met via Zoom. Kathy had the floral arrangement behind her so we could see it and it was indeed gorgeous. She was pleased w/ it and so were we. I'm so happy that I went with Pierrette for our wedding flowers. My friend recommended Stems and Petals to me while my venue recommended another vendor. Pierrette was very friendly and responsive in person, on the phone and through email. Her rates are very reasonable and she accepts credit card. She didn't require a minimum order amount. I also saw her work in person at a wedding fair and her flowers were beautiful in person; she doesn't have a lot of photos of her work online. She was willing to accommodate our limited budget without belittling us, and she was also willing to accommodate my desire to use succulents from my mom's garden in my bouquet which also saved on costs and looked beautiful. I could tell her what I would like to spend and she'd come up with creative ways to meet my budget. I believe she also only takes one wedding a day or weekend so she's dedicated to your job. I spoke with other vendors who were only willing to accommodate our limited budget because they had another bride with a larger budget the same day, but that bride's work and schedule took priority over ours. Pierrette also belongs to a co-op of other wedding vendors so she can also rent props for you. She has accumulated a lot of props of her own too in all her years in the wedding vendor business so she can provide props for a reasonable fee for her floral clients, or for free for couples that hire her for wedding coordination too. Her fee for day-of wedding coordination was reasonable as well. If I didn't already have a coordinator, I would've hired her too for day-of wedding coordination. She is super organized and has a detailed event order form that even specifies what everyone is wearing and how the florals will match their outfits. I liked having everything organized in one form. On our wedding day I delighted to see Pierrette arrive with my bouquet that included all the colors and flowers I specified plus my mom's succulents; it was even more beautiful than I imagined. She took care to get the specific ribbon colors that I wanted without charging me extra for them. I loved my bouquet and the flowers for the sweetheart table. After dropping off the flowers to our ceremony venue she went to the reception venue to set up the sweetheart table and helped my wedding coordinator set up other items too. Everything looked beautiful in person and looked like I spent a lot more than I did. The only minor issue was the best man's rose in the boutonnière broke off the stem when we were taking photos early in the day, but our photographer was able to pin the boutonnière back together. Overall I was extremely happy with all of Pierrette's florals and service. read more

Day of coordination: Pierrette was organized, asked great questions leading up to the day, and the day of was a wizard! I used Stems and Petals for my wedding in August 2008. Stems and Petals was a Faculty Club recommended vendor. I had contacted many florists but few would work with the budget I had. Pierrette not only worked with me, but she gave me a range of prices and options for the bouquets and arrangements so I could decide if I wanted to go high-end or low-end or somewhere in-between. Having done a lot of events on the Berkeley campus, she was quite sure on how to pull off the blue and gold theme we were looking for. The pictures of her past work were gorgeous and her flower ideas for my wedding sounded so beautiful, I hired her shortly after meeting her. Also, included in her price was a free tossing bouquet, an extra groom boutonniere and free use of her two vases and stands for the ceremony. I thought our flowers turned out gorgeous. I loved my bouquets. The flower girl bouquets she made were the cutest things! She delivered our personal flowers at my house right on time and the ceremony flowers were set-up well before I arrived. Another big factor in hiring her was that she was located the next town over from my parents in Pinole. Her house was a little over 10 minutes away so it made returning the vases and stands a snap! A long overdue review for Pierrette at Stems and Petals in Pinole. Pierrette is super artistic, understanding and professional, full of creative ideas, and very helpful when it comes to all the budget and design questions that seem to revolve around wedding flowers. Her email follow-up throughout the whole process was great, and she was easy to talk to and full of suggestions and examples when my mom and I met her in person. She took the foggy ideas for a fall wedding of corals, greens and browns and made some of the most beautiful and long-lasting arrangements and bouquets I've ever seen -- full of great ideas that were beautiful and unique without being just being different for different's sake. When it turned out we couldn't work out one of the plans that we originally discussed, she came up with a way to make the same idea work on a smaller scale, and she offered three different centerpiece ideas on the same theme at different price points to work with us on the budget side of things. She even worked in a way to use pumpkins in the fall without giving things a hoe-down sort of feel. When the big day came she was super organized and thought of all the little details (like ribbon and extra boutonniers for the guys) and gave us plenty of time to get the rented items back to her. One of my bridesmaids kept her bouquet and it still looks great dried six months later! I highly recommend Pierrette's work for any event. :) read more

Pierrette is an amazing florist and such a good friend! She did the flowers for my wedding on 7/2/2016 and they were perfect! I had my first consultation with her about a year before my wedding. Initially, I had really wanted to have a bunch of blush peonies for my flowers, but after finding out how ridiculously expensive peonies are, Pierrette helped me to make substitutions that would get me the look I wanted but for a more reasonable price. She also helped me to come up with good ways to save money, by reusing my ceremony flowers for the reception. She decorated our arch with a garland and a bunch of bouquets. Let me start off by saying that I was a very hands on bride-- Not exactly a "bridezilla"-- but I just wanted it the way I wanted it. :) During the initial consultation, Pierrette took the extra time to find out which flowers had special significance to me and she made intelligent suggestions about flowers that were in season and those that would complement the location of the wedding, which was on Mare Island. She created beautiful bouquets tastefully delivered in a woven basket. The autumn-inspired table arrangements incorporated around the towering hurricane candle lanterns made the tables look so elegant at our outdoor evening reception. One of my favorite elements were the gorgeous eucalyptus pew wreaths that reflected the eucalyptus in the grove outside the chapel. I have used her business several times since my wedding.
