I love supporting small businesses and have heard great things about this florist. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty chill. The floral spread was set up outside but it looked dark inside the building, so I wasn't sure if they were open or not. I opened the door and some sweet lady greeted me with a warm smile. The flowers were so big and beautiful. I bought a bouquet of what seemed to be jumbo red roses. Told her my partner doesn't like baby's breath, and she made such a pretty bouquet for me without it. It was Christmas morning and I was in the area, intent on visiting Ghost Ship - because not everyone was able to be home for the holidays (and they deserve to be remembered). This flower shop was open surprisingly, and I was greeted warmly. I told the lady I wanted to pay my respects and bring flowers, paying at or under $20. Because even though I didn't know anyone who passed personally in the fire, the feeling of knowing thirty-six families are without their loved ones, and that it could have been friends, or me, resonated. I would have been fine with a deposit but there's no way I would pay over $200 for flowers I can't see. And on top of that, they say "we cant guarantee the flowers will be the same as what you are requesting". Had bad attitudes and bad customer service. I would never pay so much for flowers and you cant even guarantee that you'll have the flowers for me and they do not even offer refunds if the flowers they give you aren't correct! read more

Poor presentation, lack of clarity in policies, impatient customer service. Very few flowers or arrangements on display and you cannot enter the shop to get a good look. The florist started helpful, but became irate when asked questions about pricing, alternatives to flowers, and flower identification. She said she could order the flowers because she didn't have any in stock (surprise, surprise) but refused to order the flowers without a full no-cash payment upfront. There were no signs or any indication that cash payments would not be accepted, I feel like the implication was that she made this decision based on judgement. Of age? Color? The audacity of a customer to ask about policies on products and services? Suddenly, when I ask what the policy was is a customer is unsatisfied with flowers (or any product) that she demands full payment for upfront - oh she didn't want to do business anymore and walks away. Completely unprofessional. How dare a paying customer want to know there options before making a purchase! Go here if you want to give money to a terse, judgmental person who can't handle exercising a modicum of patience. I'll take my money to a friendlier, more customer service oriented business that allows me to see at least a sample of what I want to buy. read more

My daughter and I wanted to get flowers for my wife for Mother's Day. I called La Vie en Rose to order the Parrot Tulips bouquet ($52). The woman who answered the phone said that she would need to substitute because she didn't have those tulips. We wanted tulips because we had lived in The Netherlands and my wife has grown to really like tulips. But if I could wait a day and pick up on Mother's Day, she would have the Parrot Tulips for us. I agreed to this plan. Today, on Mother's Day, my adult daughter went to pick up the flowers at the scheduled time. The woman did not have the Parrot Tulips and didn't have any flowers ready for us at all. The woman said she would "put something together". So after a 20 minute wait the woman came out again with a thrown together bouquet of different tulips (not Parrot Tulips) and that was that. We won't use this florist again. read more

I would be VERY careful. She charged me twice for the same bouquet. When I confronted her, she apologized and said she'd give me a refund. A week later and no refund, I contacted Visa and got a refund. Then, when Visa contacted her, she apparently told them it was two orders, and Visa reinstated the duplicate charge. Blaming on my friend who was the one who wasn't home and offering me a credit. I refused it because I was so appalled with the Customer service, and she hang up on me on the phone! I had a bad experience with this florist. I bought an orchid from the shop's owner. Two days later one of the blossoms withered and fell off which indicated the others would do the same because it was not a fresh orchid. I called the owner, she told me when she would be at the shop, but she did not show up to see the plant after agreeing twice to meet me. She finally just said she would not exchange the plant or refund the money. I even wrote her a letter asking for an appointment to show her the plant but I never heard a word. This is such an amazing little flower shop. Although there are several florists in the Solano area, this place is my absolute favorite. The woman that owns/works there is so incredibly sweet and does such a phenomenal job taking care of all the flowers. That may not seem like a big deal, but take my word for it. You won't find dull or dying flowers here. You can rely on getting a wide array of FRESH cut flowers that will continue blooming beautifully over the next couple days in your presence. Or you can buy an exotic, healthy orchid amongst the many different orchids that are there as well. All the potted plants especially, are watered and cared for with so much love. You can tell because there is never inches of dust on the leaves of the different plants. Its the little details that matter when looking for the right arrangement. Its fun picking out a different bouquet of unique flowers each time I go there. You can be sure to find the right match for any occasion. It is a bit pricey, but considering the business is on Solano avenue, I can understand. Also, you are paying for quality, rarity, and style. Ultimately, the best part about this place is all the nuanced loving detail put into every arrangement by the owner. I appreciate art and talent when I see it. Go crazy with colorful ribbons, themed tissue paper backing, or different presentation styles. I saw Christmas table table arrangements on a display stand outside the shop and decided to support a local business and buy one. On closer inspection, I saw they weren't so interesting, and I ought to have walked away, but I still had the intention to support a local business. Then I realised that none of the items had price tags so I had to ask how much they cost. They lady in the shop said she didn't know and would have to call the owner. I ought to have walked away, but stayed while she called 'the owner'. She talked in Spanish and I did not understand the conversation. The price for 2 pieces of wood in a basket with a cheap velvet bow was $35! I ought to have walked away. But I did buy something that I now regret. It's my own fault. Caveat Emptor. Buyer beware. And I realised only later that I have seen the same lady in the shop every time I pass the shop and she certainly acts as if SHE is indeed the owner. I feel I've been had, but I can't blame anybody but myself. read more

I really don't understand why some other florists think that I want drab, wilting flowers on my table. I'm sorry, but hiding those ugly ones in the back aren't going to trick me. I've recently started to get flowers for my dining table on a regular basis, and after three visits to La vie en rose, I'm very happy to say that I think I've found the best local flower shop for my needs. The prices are reasonable, and their flowers are always so bright, fresh, and gorgeous without a single wilting petal in sight. I went to La Vie En Rose last night to get some last minute Valentine's Day flowers for my wife and daughters. I knew that Gloria, the owner, took extra care in doing her flower arrangements and that these would be much better than a run-of-the-mill flower shop, but I had not yet experienced this first hand. I needed to get three different arrangements, one for each person, that were each different and fit their personalities and preferences. Gloria created a unique arrangement for each, and they all came out fabulous! My 14 year-old daughter was thrilled with her "pinks", and my wife commented on the stunning beauty of her "tropicals". It is VERY difficult to find a florist open on Sundays. I was very excited to find this place that said on Monday that she would be able to fulfill my hydrangea order to be picked up on Sunday. I pay upfront and agree that the flowers will be ready at a designated time for a very important event. I arrive Sunday at our scheduled time, and the owner acts like she doesn't recognize me and doesn't even know what I ordered. I show her my receipt (thank goodness I had foresight to request one) and she says she doesn't have the flowers and that I should choose from the other ones. I explained, this was not our business agreement and these other flowers are not what I designed for. She says all the hydrangeas are wilted but I can get my money back. I immediately request my money back. While she takes 20 minutes to handle a refund, I realize I am now becoming late for my event and must leave, but will return later for the refund. I end up purchasing flowers at the grocery store, unfortunately to say Safeway had fresher looking flowers than this florist. The next day I return to finish my refund, and she says it was complete on Sunday (which contradicts what she said on Sunday). A whole week later and I have not received a refund for flowers that the florist agreed to, but ultimately could not provide. Bad business and I do not recommend this florist. read more

I was not a picky bride about flowers--we only starting working on getting a florist about 6 weeks before the wedding this past summer. We went in and talked to Gladys at La Vie En Rose. The first meeting went fine, we received a reasonable quote and picked this flower shop over "Flowers by Anne" because we wanted to support a local shop (the prices were about the same). On the second visit, I realized she had some of the details wrong, so I corrected them. There were two things that I really wanted above all else and expressed them to her explicitly: no yellow flowers (at all) and my bride's bouquet needed to be true white--not off-white, not beige, not yellowish, not yellow---white! Well, on the wedding day, she showed up carrying a huge alter piece and asked where I wanted it. I didn't order an alter piece!! Now I was alarmed about what other details were wrong. I took a look at my bouquet--it was made up of different types of flowers (which is what I ordered), but the majority of the flowers were an off-white/yellowish color. I pulled out my bridesmaid's bouquets--they had some of the same flowers, but their flowers were white. I showed Gladys the different colors of "white" between the two bouquets and she told me they were the same. She acted confused (which I realized she does throughout the whole process when you point out something that is wrong/negative about her services), but I got nowhere with her. My wedding was going to start, so what could I do? My maid of honor then pointed out to me that La Vie En Rose included big stickers advertising their business on the buffet table flowers. What an elegant touch! We asked Gladys to remove the offensive stickers; she acted confused and asked us why we didn't want them. The stickers were holding on the ribbon that was part of the design and, since Gladys wouldn't help us to remove them, my maid of honor turned the ribbon so the sticker was facing the wall. Finally, on her way out, I find Gladys talking to my incredible cake maker/decorator Catherine (Black China Bakery). Catherine is beautifully arranging flowers on my cake (Gladys provided the flowers) and Gladys is asking her to send her digital photos of Catherine's work. It was then that it all clicked for me--do not trust the photos that La Vie En Rose shows you at their shop! They are probably other people's work--I got the impression that Gladys wanted to add Catherine's work to her own portfolio. Overall: -They got the details wrong and would not admit it (alter piece that I didn't order and yellow flowers bridal bouquet). -They use big, unattractive stickers to advertise their business on the flowers arrangements. -They act confused when you voice dissatisfaction about their errors. -They may take credit for other's work in their portfolio as they were asking my talented cake decorator to send digital pictures of her work with their flowers. I would never go to La Vie En Rose again. I had very low-level requirements and they were not able to meet them. If I had been a bride whom needed everything absolutely perfect, it would have ruined my wedding, plain and simple. read more

My husband bought me a mixed bouquet here this weekend that cost him about $40. There were a few high end flowers in it--a couple of roses and lilies--the rest were cheaper looking filler flowers--baby's breath, etc. Honestly, it looked like a $6 bouquet from Safeway, and the roses started to droop the next day. While I appreciated the gesture and I love fresh flowers, I was irritated that he wasted our money at this place. read more
