Highest review possible. Janet is truly an artist. The flower arrangements Janet put together for us were exquisite. She assembled a combination of colors and textures I never would have seen in my imagination myself, but worked beautifully together. Add, this was for a memorial, which is an occasion that leaves very little time or emotional energy for family to think about pink (?) or yellow (?) or who cares (?). Instructions were "something colorful, not white," and aside from that, we left the floral design to Janet. What arrived to the venue was artwork, perfectly matched to the spirit of the person and occasion. The colors were seasonal, so perhaps accidental, but somehow colorful enough to brighten the dark wood walls of a Bernard Maybeck hall, but muted enough to be appropriate for the occasion. Leftover bouquets filled our homes for at least 2 weeks, brightened our days, and left us smiling. I would not hesitate to work with Freshly Cut Florist again, and will. read more

First, this store is one of the most beautiful flower shops one can walk into. They feature a tastefully curated selection of not just flowers but also seasonal branches and fresh fruit for lovely decorations. And their bouquets are perfectly packaged for presents. So, why am I giving them two stars? First the flowers are outrageously expensive. Yes. the quality is excellent but $7 for a twig? C'mon. Second, for some reason they always seem to make me feel that I'm good enough for their flowers. They never say anything rude, mind you. I can't say enough positive things about this shop. I came in from out of town to take care of some wedding details including finding a florist. I went to another shop first and their first question was "Do you have an appointment?" I've never been married before and had no idea that this was an appointment type of situation. They were not accommodating and very unprofessional, so I went back to Yelp and found this shop. I called the shop to ask about an appointment and explained my situation. Her response was "Well, you're here now so just come on over!" Her kindness made me so happy! When I got to the shop I was greeted by two very friendly, welcoming, and energetic ladies who were beyond enthusiastic. She saw my inspiration and was so excited and began rattling of her ideas. When the flower talk was over it was like we were hanging out with some friends and they offered up suggestions of what to do next in Berkeley, where to find the best ice cream, and that our reception venue is across the street from a popular club so we might want to check if there are any events going on there on the night of our wedding. We have the real estate office across the street where shoppers in the area park, since we have a few extra spaces to share. I bought flowers for mothers day. I don't know my flowers well, and they were not helpful. I selected by look and was astonished how expensive they were! But since they were not gracious, i didn't feel comfortable undoing the bouquet. The worst part was the flowers didn't last long at all! They died quickly and my mom was really disappointed.
