somehow,I would not recommend this restaurant . Have you ever had a experience when you wanna try out new food in a Friday night and you spent $70, and you got treat really unfair? I saw the picture and decided to try this restaurant tonight, the restaurant was ok ,and I had a appetizer and entree. The appetizer was good and entree sea bass was ok . After I sat down , my server didn't take away the rest three empty plate on my table ,and there were a couple sat next to me ,he took away empty plate and setting for them ,my server just let me keep 4plates on my table :) In the end ,I don't know he might be feel like I don't look like the person who will tip decent or he might think his service deserves more ,he add 18% to my bill .that moment I feel really bad ,also is it legal to add tip on one person's bill? Not end yet , I went out to take my jacket, another man ask me for three dollars, I gave him $20to break ,he gave me $15back and said he doesn't have a change ,he didn't even bother to go back to cashier ask for a change . I told me to keep change. Hey boss! I had a sushi in Seattle , I tip them 20for $50 meal , that was because I feel good I wanted to tip them good ,do you really think your service and everything worth that . Ah ha , I guess I won't be back , it made me feel bad .why on the earth would I spend $70 on a restaurant has worth service than normal ?why would I bring friends here ?they don't treat you with respect:(bu read more

I came here for my friend's baby shower. The first impression walking in thy had really nice decor, a big room and a sushi bar and small bar in front. It happened that it appeared a few other events were going on that day, another baby shower and a wedding. We were set up in the middle. The meal was served family style and as always with plenty of food. First courses started off with a few variety of salads and appetizers. I liked the salad with fresh strawberries which was very refreshing. The second course they had these Russian style fries and mushrooms which were so crispy and delicious it was a big hit at our table. Their short ribs were also very good as it was so tender you didn't need a knife. The dessert was also very good as mini pastries with coffee and tea were served. Service there was overall very good. Both servers made sure that everyone was fed and had their glasses full. The only criticism is that the bathroom was a little odd. The womens bathroom had two toilets but no stalls separating it. I thought that part was a bit odd. Maybe awkward as well. read more

Over the top, huge portions and all the possibilities you can think of! I came here for my boyfriend's niece's first birthday and I left feeling like I would be full for DAYS. Started off with their nicely cut, fresh sushi, then went to their meats, desserts, seafood galore! The servers were very attentive to all of our desires and were fantastic to us. I live in North Jersey so it was a little bit of a hike for me, but if I ever have the chance, I will definitely be coming back! read more

Very negative experience with manager Andrew . I have called them several days ago to book my husband Bday party for 15 people without ordering a banquet . He told me " yes" and advised to call 10 days prior reservation to order some appetizers and leaves deposit . I just called 3 days later to reconsider to banquet and he tells me that there is no space for our party . Very unprofessional , I have invited people already and now it does not look nice at all . I think the owners should come out from the sky to earth . The food is very nice there but the management just sucks :( read more

Just a fair warning, if you are planning to have dinner here, then reservation is a must. Most people get a banquet; which is like a prefix on steroids. It's pricy, but if you never went to a Russian restaurant then you will be pleasantly surprised, because there is no other place that will give you this much food excerpt a Russian restaurant. We came in on a Friday at about 6 pm, and the place was empty. Most people make reservation for 8 pm. The music begins at 9 pm, and by 11 pm most people are crowding the floor with vodka fuelled energy. If you are a sushi lover, then you must try this place, because they really do an amazing job on special rolls. Most rolls are $16, but a normal special roll is only a dollar or two off, and you get double the amount of food in these rolls. I honestly can't wait to go back to this place. read more

I'm going to say it straight out. If you're not Russian, they don't want you here. What others below have said are correct as well as what friends of my father's have repeated. They can't kick you out without a discrimination lawsuit but they will treat you like garbage for even thinking of eating there. The place looks like a tumor in this neighborhood. Why would you have an exclusive to Russians 3 star restaurant in a middle class Asian and Italian and not to mention mostly residential neighborhood? Couldn't find something in Brighton Beach or deeper into Bensonhurst? How ghetto can you get when you have people dressing up like its The Ritz and right next door grandma's doing her laundry, eyeballing you like you're crazy? read more

Preface: I really want to give it two stars because the food wasn't bad (but overpriced). I just had dinner with a good friend of mine since it was in my neighborhood and i had purchased a voucher a while back, which in fine print stated that it does not expire. For dinner, we shared 3 dishes between the two of us and had a couple of drinks. The service was OK but slow because the waiter seemed to be new on the job or he just didn't have any answers to our questions about the food. But the two of the waiters did do their best to work with whatever they had. So now the fun part: PAYING THE BILL WITH THE VOUCHER. As we were ready to pay the bill, we presented a print out voucher from Restaurant.com, but it was rejected. The manager, Fhurruch, told us that they discontinued the contract with Restaurant.com as of April 2012. Even though my voucher was purchased over a year ago and stated "CERTIFICATE DOES NOT EXPIRE," the manager still did not honor the voucher. I tried to reach Restaurant.com's customer's service at the time, but it was after business hours. The manager obviously seemed more worried about getting the bill paid then to keep a new business relationship and did not try to budge or be helpful. I wanted to come here to experience a cool dinner spot in the hood, but apparently the service just didn't live up to it. It was a Thursday evening, and my friend and I were the ONLY patrons there. Who knows how long they will be around, esp. with the customer experience they demonstrated tonight. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ORANGE GRILL: Slow service, Overpriced food (for Brooklyn), Unhelpful Manager. read more

5 pentagrams for the all around experience. That experience was my big 45 with 22 of my closest friends and un-chosen family (u cant choose family, they come either way). We booked the private room in the back on a Saturday nite. We booked about a month in advance with Alex (who BTW gave us great options and substitutions for the veggie and non pig crowd) and took the $95 package with a BYOA option with no cork fee. My fam and friends are big scotch and vodka people, so the BYOA was a mega plus. You have no idea how much easier it is to pour from your table than hassling the staff each time for a drink. But as a warning to some, when you pour your own drinks you are bound to start not remembering things. I was no exception. My mantra is all ways the same - realize what you are getting. If you go during the week it will be D-E-A-D like Walking Dead but not as scary and no one is trying to eat you or suck out your brains (no sexual intent at all). That is the nature of the place, they make their $$$ on Friday and weekends. Any whooo - I had good food and good drinks and I had a great time, with great friends, great family and a great venue. read more

In a search for the orange mood during the last summer days and in a sake of experience of what the Russian nouveau cuisine is, I decided to finally visit "Orange Grill". Surprisingly there was a plenty of parking spots, which was a great convenience and set up in a good mood even before entree ring the place. Place was empty. Which is a red flag for any NYC spot. But I decided to give it a try. The waiter Arsen was very entertaining and helpful, providing the details on every item on the menu, he also recommended to try the top sellers which we did. So our feast contained: pan seared sea scallops, Boston & California rolls, prince edward mussels, octopus carpaccio, espresso scented rib eye steak with truffle mushroom sauce and filet of Chilean sea bass. I know gluttony is a sin. But I'd rather be a sinner, when he food tastes that good!!! That steak....mmm...is to die for! Incredible flavors and texture and that truffle sauce served as a cherry on top of the dessert - making the dish - magnifique! The food was accompanied with the fresh baked bread loafs that had the butter and garlic inside. Something hat is definitely worth trying. The drinks are pretty strong and like the real mixologists creation can enlist various technics of preparation. I've tried couple of the drinks - but my sweet tooth decided to stick to the chocolate martini. By the end of our dinner, there were few other tables taken. The ambiance was pretty nice - relaxing lounge music and Victoria secret angels catwalk on tv. As for the bathroom. I had a shock when I got in. I've experienced the Sochi déjàvue. Two toilets in the same stall!!! am i expecting a guest? And as I walked in - some babushka started reading the fairy tale on the sound speaker. So I was just staying there for like 10 mins - to find out the end of the story:))). Curiosity trap. All in all the experience was pretty nice. Definitely, he food and the whole experience is worth trying read more

Typical Russian restaurant in Brooklyn. Don't go here if you're aren't Russian - I was invited (as the only American) and would never have gone out of my accord. Very crowded dance floor, and the strobe lights sort of gave me a mini-seizure. Coat check guy couldn't break my $10, so I wasn't charged. Whatevs. Food was awesome though. Like, really awesome - from the fish (sushi and tuna tar tare) to the potatoes (kartoshka and mashed potatoes) to the escargot to the dessert (an abundant fruit platter and dessert sampler - I had the most amazing chocolate cake*). *Said chocolate cake could have been so amazing due to the copious amounts of tequila I consumed prior to digestion. read more

Seriously beyond a neighborhood gem. Portions are huge, food is outstanding. We got the skirt steak salad, oysters, and filet mignon bites for appetizers. All so good! The steak salad was exceptional. (I can't tell if it was the marinated steak or the dressing) for meals we got the stuffed salmon, Chilean sea bass and lobster tails. Literally have never seen portions like this. Normally it's one lobster tail for $32 in the city but here it was 2. Stuffed salmon was huge, probably at least 10 ounces and then stuffed with crab meat. Chilean sea bass was delicate and delicious. Service was top notch. Our waiter was Michael and could not be better. He was so attentive and his suggestions were on point! Side note : Take out portions are equally huge. Will be back again and again and again. read more

A place for Russians by Russians, should be their motto. Went here on two different occasions. For a place located in what seems to be a hybrid of Kurt Russel's escape from NY, and a dump for a Hollywood set, the prices are far too liberal. The interior is nice, but lacks any personality. Do all the russians go to one interior designer? The food leaves something to be desired. A FYI, gold flakes on sushi do not enhance your palate or your tastes, and it doesn't warrant a 25.00+ price tag. Save yourself some money, make fondue, grab some sushi elsewhere, cook at home or find another place. read more

Orange Grill is open all week, but it's perfect for parties. The place is beautiful. They have a dance floor, live shows, and very intricate decor, which always changes with the occasion. You can tell that it was designed with care and passion. Most important however, is the food. They probably have the best quality food in Brooklyn, and can easily rival most upscale Manhattan restaurants. It's a little on the pricy side, but the quality of the food and service more than makes up for it. Coming here is definitely an unforgettable experience. As far as parking, it can be hard to find a spot, but they do offer valet parking. If you are coming for a party, you probably shouldn't drive anyway. I've been here several times, and it's been amazing each time. I would highly recommend. Definitely go here. read more

I have been here only two times and both times were for birthday parties (one was my own). Service: Attentive, they always prefer to serve you the food and will pour you your hearts desire! Food: I am a big seafood person and well... they make really eccentric and unique seafood dishes. am I a fan of all of them? no! but I really enjoyed almost everything, but one or two items. That is a huge deal because I am usually disappointed at these "russian" banquet restaurants. I did not have many meat dishes...so I cant speak for that, but I do not remember being dissatisfied either. Drinks: Even more awesome, as all "russian" restaurants you're allowed to bring your own alcohol! I brought 10! Music: mix of top 80's, 90's, and today's top 10. It is also played by a live band! crowd: younger than your typical "russian" restaurant. Over all I would return here! *As for as the other reviews of them being "racist," I can not say that I had this experience even though I had hispanic, Philippino, and brazilian friends as guests at my party. It could be because there were also russian guests at my party or because I did not notice it, as I am used to it, but non the less, no one pointed it out to me either. read more

Before this, use to be one of my most favorite place to celebrate anything at, food was great and so was service, until few days ago. Met andrey " the manager" who we agreed on the position of the table and the food with. and confirmed 3 times and deposit was made, we specifically wanted a certain table. after a morning confirmation, we showed up and were pointed at a totally different table which was not supposed to even be there, we argued and argued and still nothing was done. asked to show to contract and the staff used whiteout for INITIAL agreed contract.Funny business ended up leaving and relocating all the guests NEVER AGAIN read more

Love it! Love it Love it! Had a best time in my life! Food was really amazing, really! I did a birthday party for my girlfriend and all our guests was pleased and happy! its very rear when you can please everyone-but we made it!(of cause with help of staff and musicians). First of all we had so much food: cold appetizers, hot appetizers, meat, fish, sushi and it wrapped with amazing sweet table... Second of all-service...wow,guys! We never even have ask for anything-they were really there for us and it was so professional and extremely fast. Another big plus-music... yes, a lot of it(40%) was Russian, (but my girl is russian, so it was fun), the rest of it american and europian. It was mix of dj sets and actually LIVE singers! Really cool. So far, its my best experience in Russian place- thanks you, guys! read more

Find myself here again! Love this spot! Can't say enough nice things about this place! So some of my favorites: sushi amazing like no other, iceberg salad (sounds bogus right, but so tasty) burger is scrumptious ( would never usually order a burger at any other place. but here I simply must), oysters always fresh, frisée salad, roasted quail stuffed with risotto, and the lamb chops I simply can't refuse. Wine list had been revamped considerably. Amarone is one of my favorite reds! Elegant and fragrant on the smell, yet robust on the tongue. For me, it's about the food, and they hit the mark every time. Well done, Orange Grill! read more

Past Saturday we celebrated our sons 13 birthday @Orange Grill. We booked a private party room, ordering $125 banquet menu. Even though we've been to this place before, this experience exceeded our expectations. The décor, the food, the service were absolutely outstanding! The main waiter (Lesha), and other staff, were accommodating to any requests we made prior, or during the party: move tables, rearrange food, provide outlets, help to setup for our own music equipment - no problem. And we danced, and we had a really-really good time. "What else can we do for you, sir ?" - I been asked throughout the dinner. And it was not shtik! No Russian restaurant, and we been to many, can even remotely, come close to quality of service, to which Orange Grill have provided. We are very pleased with our choice for this party, and will become regulars at OG. Anatoly. read more

not a fan in the slightest, came in and there were people and kids screaming for 30 minutes.

Came here for the New Year's Eve dinner. Having been to a few Russian restaurants celebrating the New Year I have to say this was the best experience by far. Although a small restaurant compaired to the rest of the catering hall looking places around Brighton Beach it was perfect because no matter where you sit you are able to see the stage. It is beautifully decorated. The service was top notch! The food was amazing, presented with such taste and everything was delicious. One of the best spent New Year's eves in my life. It amazed me to find a restaurant at this part of Brooklyn which serve foie gras! The food tasted great. The service was limited. Enjoyed the food a lot. Although the live musics were a bit too loud, but still enjoyed it. Just as what one of the previous yelper wrote, "a place for Russians by Russians, should be their motto".
