Dr. Koos removed my wisdom teeth yesterday, and I don't think I've had a better experience at a doctor. From the first consultation, where he explained every little detail of what he was going to do and answered all of my questions (no matter how dumb they were), to the procedure, which was quick and relatively painless, I was amazed at how efficient he and his staff are. They do everything they can to make you comfortable - one big plus being you can play whatever music you want (not that it matters if you're under general anesthesia, like I was). He even called me at home last night to make sure I was doing ok, and gave me his cell phone number with instructions to call him if I had any problems at all while the office was closed. I'm going to need an implanted tooth later this year, and Dr. Koos will surely be my guy for that too. He's the best. read more

By far, the best dental studio I have ever been to. I have been to both the Wicker Park and South Loop locations. I love the Wicker Park location and the fact that Dr. Thurston will always be playing great music, because I don't think anyone can even comprehend what an incredible difference it makes, at least for a total music nerd like myself, when you are listening to Kings of Convenience, Royksopp or Sigur Ros while you are in the dentist's chair... it makes it sooooo much less nerve-wracking and so beautiful. The South Loop location was where I wound up having all 4 wisdom teeth removed, and let me tell you I was terrified, having never undergone general anesthesia before. Dr. Koos did a great job to calm my nerves, and it was a great experience overall. Unfortunately the music was not what I had hoped for after my experience at the Wicker Park office... but when nitrous is being administered to me and then the next minute I am fully unconscious, do I really have time to think about the fact that daytime television and top 40 music are pretty much my all-time pet peeves?? I woke up with my mouth full of blood and gauze of course which is never too pleasant, but was prescribed some painkillers and was told to ice my very swollen face. I spent the next couple of weeks recovering at home. The best part though, was that Dr. Koos actually called later that same night around 8 pm to make sure that I was doing alright! 2 and a half weeks later, well, I still have massive holes in the back of my mouth (yeah, it's pretty disgusting) but I think that's pretty much par for the course. I am just so happy that I have not developed dry socket! I figure it'll be about a month or so until I can eat solid food again (anyone eating steak and potatoes the day after they got their wisdom teeth out is either lying, or going to develop some complications that I don't wanna think about...) but again, that's pretty normal for wisdom teeth removal since the holes are not stitched up but left open. I can only hope that the "heroin chic" look will come back into style at some point, lol... read more

After reading the reviews, I decided this is the place to say good bye to all 4 of my wisdom teeth. After the visit I can say, it was a VERY pleasant experience. When scheduling my appointment, they were able to see me asap. During my visit, i was put to sleep while he extracted all 4 of my wisdom teeth. I woke up and felt no pain. I was sent home with a cleaning kit, a cold pack, and a prescription for pain meds. The doctor also called later that evening to make sure i was feeling okay. My dental insurance was blue cross/blue shield. After my insurance picked up some of the tab, the bill was a little costly, but they were able to set up payment arrangements. After hearing the horror stories of getting your wisdom teeth pulled, I can say my experience was the best. If I didn't move to California, I would still be coming to ORA. read more

My dentist referred me here for my wisdom teeth extraction because he said the surgeons here are great and the location is convenient for me as well. He did my xrays here and gave me a copy so I wouldn't get charged for them again. He gave me a referral for this place and I went home and made a phone call a few days later to schedule a consultation here. At first, no one picked up the phone and I had to leave a message, but they did get back to us at a reasonable time. I also want to mention that sometimes when I call and leave a message, they didn't return my call and I had to call back a day later. Most of the time they did return my calls promptly. When I arrived for my consultation, I was surprised that they have free parking for their customers in the South Loop location. I was prepared to pay for parking, so this was a pleasant surprise for me. +1 star for that! Also, when you walk in, the reception desk and waiting room is decorated beautifully. They offer complimentary coffee that you make from the Keurig, which was nice. This is one of Chicago's only green oral surgery practice. +1 star for that! My consultation couldn't have been any better and it was a great experience overall. Dr. Koos was my dentist and I recommend him to anyone. He explains everything thoroughly and tells you exactly how long the process is going to take. He also tells you how he was going to do the procedure. He answered all of my questions and I was on my way to schedule my oral surgery. Although I provided them with my xrays from my dentist, he did another for me without charge because their xrays is 3D and it is pretty much more accurate. +1 star! During surgery, I came here and I had to wait 10 minutes more than my scheduled appointment time. No complains though because this place was packed. I was called and brought into the surgery room towards the back. The room was really nice and they play relaxing music and they also have a nice sky design for you to look at. I felt really comfortable and I wasn't nervous at because the room was so cozy and nice. I was put to sleep on sedatives by the assistant and the last thing I remembered was Dr. Koos walking into the room and putting the IV on me. Next thing you know, I was lights out and I woke up 45 minutes later feeling out of it. I didn't remember a thing! I was brought to the recovery room and stumbled a bit, but then left after 10 minutes later. He prescribed me all the medication that I needed and more, so I never had to call him back for something stronger. I was in very little pain afterwards, but my jaw was stiff for the 1st few days. After about 4 days, I stopped taking my pain medication. I am writing this review 11 days after my surgery and I am feeling pretty much 90% now (no pain, just a little jaw stiffness left). Another thing about Dr. Koos is that he calls you the same night after surgery and ask you how you are doing. He gives you his cell phone number, so if you have any questions, you can call him directly. +2 stars! read more

After a ridiculously traumatic experience getting my bottom 2 wisdom teeth out at my regular dentist (all I need to tell you is 4 hours, no anesthesia/gas, and 'complicated' teeth that he wasn't prepared for), I waited 4 years to get the other two out. Oops. I'm also terrified of needles despite being covered in tattoos! Long story short, Dr. Koos let me listen to Bohemian Rhapsody while they knocked me out with nitrous and twilight anesthesia and he was done in 20 minutes.. my boyfriend even brought his video camera in hopes of catching me acting a fool after the surgery, but no dice. I was totally fine (& I'm not AS terrified of the dentist anymore). Best ever experience with a medical professional, highly recommended. read more

I'm extremely irked right now. If you read my review before, you know that I was a little irked that I had a random dentist "consultation" with me on my final Invisalign retainer and I was brushed off to make an appointment with MY dentist 5-weeks later (ended up being 8-weeks). That meant 8 weeks of re-wearing my "last retainer". MY dentist isn't at this location on weekends anytime soon so I had to take a half-day to come here on a weekday. (I keep emphasizing MY because the other people keep telling me that only MY dentist can go over the specifics of my progress...etc) When I finally came in, I found out that I was continuing for another 11 retainers (meaning 22 weeks longer). I also found out that they're putting 2 fasteners on my front teeth. During my first time here, I told them that I didn't want fasteners on my front teeth and they were very accommodating. I would have repeated this at my "consultation" but I couldn't have since I just found all of this out when I got here and the retainers are already molded for the fasteners. I left realizing that I never even saw "MY" dentist. Why the heck did I need to take a half day off?! (this review doesn't reflect the lady who attended to me. She was very polite and nice). Dr. Koos is amazing! I just had all of my wisdom teeth extracted. Dr. Koos' bedside manner turned what I was expecting to be a very scary and painful experience into a calming & relatively low-pain experience. He has a very calming nature that just made me feel comfortable and confident that the surgery would be fine - and it was. If you are nervous about your extraction as I was don't worry. I even tried to cancel my procedure because I have never heard of a good wisdom tooth story. My bottom tooth was impacted which meant I had to go under sedation. Stephen (Dr. Koos), and his team are simply amazing the office is beautiful and modern and the team were very nice. I can't say I remember much but my surgery took about 45 min and I was out the door. I took a short nap when I got home but was back to it. He thoroughly explained everything I would need to know at the consultation appointment, and the receptionist gave me an accurate and detailed estimate of what my insurance would cover. Had all my wisdom teeth extracted and this was the most pleasant experience and atmosphere ever. Dr. Steven Koos and his staff makes makes sure you feel calm and ease any worries you many have. Between a few years of not having insurance, procrastination, and general avoidance of dentists, it'd been an embarrassingly long time since I'd last seen a dentist. But thanks to everyone on Yelp that pointed me in Ora's direction! I had my first appointment yesterday, and the entire staff was great - they made me feel comfortable (well, as comfortable as you can feel when you've been avoiding dentists for years), and now I don't have to be afraid of going to see the dentist. Yay! As everyone else has mentioned, the office is beautiful, and Ora has the latest everything - instead of filling out paperwork by hand, you'll be given a laptop. The X-rays are all digital, and Dr. Kralj, Dr. Koos, and the assistant were great about explaining what I was looking at. The cleaning was less scary than I remember it being at other places too. Everyone was friendly, and I'm relieved that my teeth are nowhere close to falling out (seriously folks, I've had nightmares about this). After all that time, I just need to fill in a couple of cavities, and they recommended that I get my wisdom teeth removed. Whew! When I was done with my appointment, the office manager sat down with me to explain the treatment plans and their costs with my insurance - this was extremely helpful, and I now know exactly what to expect from future bills. read more

I was referred here by my dentist. Obviously they choose to push extra and unnecessary costs on their patients because of their extravagant, Eco-friendly office. What a joke. First Dr. Koos tells me i need all my wisdom teeth removed when I was told by my dentist I only need one. No matter what you have to get put under. Then when the receptionist goes over costs and to schedule an appointment they tell me my insurance covers only 50%. I had called my insurance that morning and told the girl that it's covered 80% and she proceeded to argue with me! She said "well I called this afternoon." really? Like I my insurance changed in the past 3 hours. They quoted me over a thousand bucks. I went to Dr. Zagrer and paid $120. ORA is a rip off. Unless you have money to blow go somewhere else. Follow up: In response to my above comment, and Dr. Koos's subsequent reply I do believe Dr. Koos thoroughly explained everything about having a wisdom tooth removed. He seemed very knowledgable. I did not intend to imply otherwise. Had it not been for the cost and the receptionist who argued with me about what MY insurance benefits are I am sure I would have gone to Dr. Koos for my wisdom tooth extraction. I think the proper attitude for the receptionist when i told her what my insurance covered would have been to tell me she'd follow up again with the company. Whether I pay or insurance does the office gets the money so I don't understand not wanting to be more cooperative. With that said, I'm sure Dr. Koos does a great job; it's an unfortunate reality that the people who work for you are a direct reflection of you. Aside from her, if I had more money or full dental coverage I'd come here based on Dr. Koos and for that I'll add another star. read more

I got my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Koos last week and it was a fantastic experience. I was a bit uneasy about getting a dental surgery done by someone I had never met before but after my consultation appointment I knew I was in good hands. During my consultation appointment, Dr. Koos thoroughly explained the procedure and what it would entail. He answered all of my questions and was very reassuring. I had no trouble scheduling a surgery appointment and the staff were wonderful in accommodating my needs. On the day of the surgery, I waited a very short period before I was taken back to begin. They gave me laughing gas, put in my IV, and I fell asleep within what felt like literally 3 minutes. The whole procedure took about 40 minutes! I woke up in the recovery room with my friend who happily took a few snap chats of me looking out of it. Later that night Dr. Koos even called me to check up on me and see how I was doing. I was really impressed. So far the recovery has gone well and I have had minimal pain compared to what I have heard from other people who have gotten theirs out. Overall, I have truly had an ideal experience getting my wisdom teeth out. I would recommend Dr. Koos to anyone! read more

Dr. Koos was a phenomenal oral surgeon. I got all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed under deep sedation. The whole process was quick, informative, and enjoyable. After my procedure I was given a package full of things to help my recovery as well as literature. Everything was very helpful and reduced my swelling and general discomfort. I am terrified of the dentist, always have been. I'm on day two after removing 3 of wisdom teeth.. and I feel almost completely normal. Except for the normal soreness that is expected after surgery. I'll admit the across-the-street location is what ultimately made me pick this place as my dentist. Additionally, in the two years I have been coming here for my bi-annual cleanings, the experience has been efficient and largely positive. Unfortunately, yesterday I received a call saying that my appointment I had scheduled half a year ago was going to be cancelled because a "dentist was not in". The sad part is that this has happened before, and I had to re-schedule the appointment in that instance as well to accommodate the dentist. Being on the road every week means only having availability on Fridays and Saturdays. The receptionist told me over the phone yesterday that a dentist would not be in on Fridays and Saturdays, and that she could "add me to a list to call if a dentist was scheduled to come in". She cited Illinois state law in pointing the blame, but honestly it comes down to why did ORA suddenly decide that they would no longer have a dentist in on Fridays and Saturdays when they are open for business on those days? I get that this location has a huge amount of clients, as is evident by calling in and realizing that their appointment calendar is booked full months in advance, or evident in how the dentist rushes in, says hi, and then runs back out at the end of your cleaning. There is a lack of any sort of personal relationship here with the dentist, but then again, I guess their job is first and foremost to keep your teeth clean and from falling out as long as possible. Willing to give them another try, if I can somehow be in town during a weekday. For everyone else, I would just be aware that your "set" appointment is subject to the "availability of dentists" -- i.e. not guaranteed. read more

I had a bridge implant done here. The doctors and nurses are absolutely top notch. You will be extremely well taken care of, and they are the ultimate professionals. The problem is the office staff. In September 2011 I called to make an appointment. Someone took my insurance number, and said she had to contact United Healthcare before I came in. A week later, Ora called and said that United didn't recognize the policy (never had this issue before). This went on and on for nearly 2 months, even AFTER I said I would just pay for the initial visit to get the ball rolling. I was so frustrated, that I asked for her email and took pictures of the front and back of the card and sent it to her-this solved it for some reason. The problem now was that we were leaving in a few weeks for Christmas break, and there wasn't enough time in the calendar year to start the surgery, and for me to take advantage of my $2,000 that my insurance would have covered. Fast forward to 2012. Surgery went great, dealing with the staff and insurance did not. My husband has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years, and he says he has never had such issues with a healthcare provider. So far he has experienced 4 instances of the Ora staff saying they sent an email that he did not receive. He gets email every day without issue. He also has had multiple instances of the Ora staff saying they contacted United Healthcare about one thing or another, and United telling my husband that that wasn't the case. I want to reiterate that I was very, very pleased with the care I received from the doctors and nurses. The office staff is friendly, but that's about it. read more

I was very worried about getting two of my wisdom teeth out under general anesthesia, but Dr. Koos and the staff at Ora made everything as easy and painless as it could've possibly been. Dr. Koos has a very calming presence and is a good communicator. He also has a good sense of humor. He even called me the night after I got my wisdom teeth out just to check up on me. What a joke... I read the reviews of this place and it seems legit. I called to get an appt for an emergency wisdom tooth extraction and was told I have to wait 2 weeks for a "consultation" and from there could schedule an extraction. When I mentioned that I just saw a dentist and it was an emergency, I was told they do sedation and need to go through insurance to see whats covered. The ENTIRE dental industry is like trying to buy a used car, but with PAIN and a lot of wasted money for simply procedures. I am from Indianapolis, Indiana and I have so little trust for services businesses in this city. Really considering driving back to Indiana to have a simple tooth pulled. read more

I am editing this review and updated the rating for Ora because of a phone call from the manager of Ora. About an hour after I wrote the original feedback, she called me to apologize. It was a very sincere apology and I felt like I am no longer being ignored. The person handling the insurance was named Kate, and she gave me a call back as well. Overall, I wish that the process did not involve so much stress, but the staff at Ora did make up for it with their timely responses. Again, I love the dentist and dental hygienist, and I definitely think that it's one of the best dental offices I've ever visited. Below is the original review. This review is not about the dentists at Ora Dental Studio, but rather, about the reception/billing staff. I had a cleaning and went in with new dental insurance. The receptionist took my new insurance card to the back and I assumed that she went into the system and updated my information. WRONG! She did not update my information at all. This wouldn't be so bad if the only thing I had to do was the cleaning. Unfortunately during the cleaning Dr. Mark found an old filling that need to be refilled. I got an estimate from the front desk and decided to go with it. It's a 2 part procedure: 1. Get the old filling out and make a mold of the cavity. 2. Insert the custom-made filling which had to be ordered and won't be ready for 3 weeks. So I got the first part done, got a temporary filling and paid for everything up front. During the time between the first and second appointment, I got a bill from my old insurance. Turns out everything was billed to them instead! The worst part of this whole ordeal is that I called Ora 3 times inquiring about this issue and had to give them my new dental insurance information again and again! 2 days before my second appointment, we still don't have this sorted out. I first went to ora with a terrible tooth ache and ora was very accomidating to my schedule and the urgancy of my situation. I met with dr. mark and then with the surgen steve. I have never felt so comfortable with a dentist office and the entire staff was amazing. I can actually say that I want to get back to keep up on my dental work. Which has never been the case in my entire life. I highly reccommend ora for any of your dental needs. It feels great to have a dentist you are comfortable and confident in. Oh, and the office is really clean! AND the dentist even called me later in the evening to see how I was recovering. Definitly looking forward to heading back in there with trust in the dentist. After waiting two months for an appointment and hiring a baby sitter, I arrived at the office to find out that my appointment had been canceled without my knowledge. The reason, all appointments are subject to cancelation if they haven't been confirmed. Per them, this was my responsibility. The office suggest that I could wait in the office and hope there would be a no show but otherwise did nothing to correct their error. Two months was about the maximum amount of time that I could have waited to see a dentist. They knew this and couldn't make any accommodation other than to schedule me again in several days. I love, love, love Dr. Kralj & the entire staff. The decor, great massage chairs and green dental practice have already been covered, but there is so much more! Every single aspect of this dental office is well thought out. The technology adds so much to the visit, I got to see a 3D image of my mouth & teeth, every tooth was checked several different ways and documented electronically for future reference. The technician, assistant and dentist all made a point of explaining each and every step of my cleaning and my fillings. They even have gloves that are scented/flavored so you don't get that crappy latex taste in your mouth. My dental tech had grape gloves! When I went to get my cavities filled Dr. Kralj had the most gentle touch! I am a wuss and HATE novocain shots, but Dr. Kralj went very slow and it was painless. The rest was a breeze! I also must make a point to credit Kasha for the excellent service she provides. I had to reschedule an appointment and she was very helpful. She didn't give me crap for rescheduling and very quickly found a new date & time for me. She also looks up all of your insurance information while you are being worked on so it is ready for you when you are finished. She provided a detailed invoice and walked through each procedure, the cost and what was expected to be covered by my insurance. One last thing. When I checked out their website I was a little worried that they would want to redo my entire mouth to make it picture perfect, but there has been no pressure to get a lot of work done! Dr. Kralj has made a few suggestions, but I don't feel the least bit worried about not doing them. I have never hated a dentist, but this is the first one I loved! I had three wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Koos, two of which were impacted. This office truly exhibits a gold standard in patient care, which I would summarize as follows: 1. Technical/medical. At our consultation, Dr. Koos explained the risks of keeping wisdom teeth in place beyond cosmesis, but still honestly stated that the procedure is elective. I'd never had anesthesia before and he detailed every step of sedation, down to the crazy things I asked him like names of every medication used, as well as the necessary interventions if things didn't go as planned. Afterwards, Jasmine (apologize if misspelled) went through the itemized costs for the procedure, how much my insurance would cover, and I left with zero confusion. The day of the procedure, Unetta (again, apologize if misspelled) did a great job of ensuring my comfort. The only part I "felt" was Dr. Koos placing my IV, which was barely a pinch (especially impressive because I have notoriously difficult veins). The procedure took about 40 minutes. After the procedure, the instructions for postoperative care were very clear. I had numbness for about 7 hours, with very minimal bleeding. Pain was also minimal - I only took high-dose Motrin (ibuprofen), though more potent pain medication was prescribed. I was also prescribed 10 days of oral and topical antibiotic. 2. Professionalism. Dr. Koos has a very calm bedside manner. I work in medicine and thus had a lot of (too many?) questions, which he answered with patience, logic and detail. The communication between myself and the office was exceptional. I received two reminder calls for both the consultation and procedure visits, with reminders to bring what I need. Jasmine answered my questions about insurance coverage even prior to the consultation visit. The evening of the procedure, Dr. Koos called me to check in, and made clear that he was very available should red flags arise. 3. Office. Cleanliness/beauty/perks of this office aside, everything there is highly functional, from the exposed area that shows where equipment is sterilized, to hooks on the walls of patient rooms so you can hang up your stuff, to a large screen displaying my images, where Dr. Koos anatomically pointed what was wrong and how it would be addressed. Not a huge fan of Dentists. Not so much the actual dentist him/herself, but the anxiety of having work done on my teeth is not my idea of fun. Ever since I've been a kid, I've always had a hard time with my teeth--cavities galore. Long story short, I was super overdue for a cleaning, knowing I'd have to have fillings for cavities, if not a root canal. Made the appointment for the cleaning, and unfortunately the dentist was stuck in Nashville...the most excellent part is that his brother filled in for him so I didn't have to wait for a dentist to examine my hot mess of a mouth. Luckily, someone canceled for the next day and I was able to sneak in for some fillings. Granted only 2 out of the 3 got filled because of time and location of my cavities. All of the dental staff were friendly and attentive and didn't mind that I asked them to stop a few times because my jaw was achey, the novicane didn't take all the way for a back molar and spit build up/dry tongue. The best part was that when I checked out the day before the fillings (the cleaning), I was informed what my insurance would pay, and what I owed, letting the sticker shock of it all after I'm all numbed up sink in. What can I say. I'm a sucker for a swanky office! I have referred friends to Ora and I keep going back myself, but I have come to expect a few errors and quirks along the way. The good Sweet office and brand. Dr. Goran is very laid back and tries to make you feel like he's happy to see you. He listens to concerns and takes time to explain his answers. I have never felt rushed by him or his staff. The bad Two appointments ago, the XRay machine was broken. They asked me to come back another day but they told me everything looked great so I didn't bother. When scheduling my last appointment, I gave them new insurance information. Kate (I think?) said everything was fine, then at around 7pm on the night before my appointment, I get a call from her asking if I was going to pay out of pocket tomorrow. No, I have insurance. "Well it's not pulling up as a valid policy." So here I am at a networking cocktail event and I have to step into the hallway and loudly repeat my social security number and insurance information. She told me they were off by one digit on my social and everything looked good for tomorrow. I would hope so, as it was after 7 and I'm guessing there would be no way to resolve this before tomorrow's appointment lol. So, you know. Checking these things is good. Checking them the night before is a little late. A number transposition happened to a friend of mine who I referred here as well. Also, when you call in to make an appointment, expect to be placed on hold at least 3-4 times while you're trying to schedule a date and time. This happens every time I have called the office. Maybe juggling too many calls at once is how people's insurance information is getting transposed? I really like them. I just hope their office staff can be a little more precise and prepared in the future. read more

Went to Ora for some oral surgery. For oral surgery, good work, kind of expensive, but hey it's surgery. No relationship. The front office and dentistry aspect is poor. No, sucks. On Dec 20th, left a voice message to have someone return my call re how to transfer records to another dentist. It's Jan 1st, still no return call. Lots of platitudes from the front office as well as Dr Kroll, but when it comes down to basic dentist office response, people don't bother. They apparently don't, why should a paying customer give a hoot. Fancy building, environmental claims galore, but if you're apparently not 'in' with the front office staff, .... So I'll call maybe this week and go through the routine of my request again. What ever happened to service? read more

I truthfully cannot fully express what an amazing place Ora is. I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Koos, and I literally almost want to do it again. The staff is uncommonly kind, grounded, intelligent, receptive to needs, and prompt with responding to inquiries- This is all a direct reflection of Dr. Koos himself. He's everything you will want in a surgeon. And as everyone's probably already noted, the studio decor is amazing as well. The only thing I remember from my surgery time was sitting in the operating chair hearing the sounds of a rain forest and looking at a beautiful LED(?)-lit ceiling, which I believe had moving trees, clouds, and birds (and then waking up numb and happy). One thing I was obviously worried about was the pain I'd endure after the procedure, but you can rest assured that this office will make sure you feel absolutely no pain throughout your entire recovery process, regardless of how long. read more

Went to Dr. Koos. He was a very kind doctor and took time to explain things to me. Appointment waits were a little long, but it was worth it for such a good doctor. After my procedure he always kept me in the loop and I was able to call him whenever I had after surgery issues. And boy did I have a lot! I was able to reach him when he wasn't in the office and that was very nice especially when your health is on the line. I cannot explain how comfortable my visits were. The technician that worked on my was fantastic and very thorough! No doubt that their technology is state of the art, but their client services is lacking. It's 2 stars because the front desk staff is a huge part of the experience from start to end and follow-ups and in my experience are not very client service oriented. Bad enough that so many retail places treat their clients/customers as cattle, don't expect that type of treatment from a place that I should build a comfortable lasting patient relationship, fortunately in a city the size of Chicago there are so many options for practically every type of business that one doesn't have put up with poor service/treatment. I had received 2 voicemails from the front desk staff (1 the week prior to my appointment and then a couple of days prior to my appointment) stating that they were confirming my appointment. The day of my appointment I got a call stating that they were rescheduling because I didn't confirm, even though the message left simply stated that if I could not make my appointment to then call to reschedule, it did not ask me to call to re-confirm what they were already confirming I had scheduled. Since I have to schedule time off of work to keep my appointment, it's not very convenient to do so, just to have my appointment rescheduled after it's been confirmed by Ora and then wait another 3 months (or more) for another appointment. I've never experienced this anywhere else. Funny that I've been in the neighborhood a few years now and no one has recommended this place to me (only tried it because I walked past it and figured it was close), and the times I visited the waiting room was virtually empty...guess I should've seen the signs. Then I get a bill 14 months after my last appointment stating that it's a 90 days overdue, so I tried calling (put on eternal hold 5 times) and finally got a person to explain that the statements are computer generated but couldn't see where there was one generated and there was no known reason that it hadn't gone out. Still waiting on the copy of the statement. read more

I just had 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled here this morning. At 28 years old, I had been putting off this procedure for a looooong time. Had I known it would be so easy, I would have done it years ago! I wish every dental procedure was so good! I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. Everyone was so friendly. The office is beautiful and clean. I was a little worried about the IV because I have tiny veins, but Dr. Koos handled it like a true pro. The next thing I remember, I was sitting in their cute recovery room with an ice pack on my face. 9 hours later, and I have zero pain. ZERO. I haven't even needed to take any of the ibuprofen they gave me. Miraculous! If you have to get this done, go here. read more

My husband went here for an implant a couple of months ago. They were incredibly nice and professional. The actual procedure took less than 30 minutes and my husband had very little pain afterwards. I am so glad we went here!! Our normal dentist office (Dental Salon) brought in an oral surgeon and he told us that "if your face stays numb, come back in because I might have to back the implant out a little bit... I may have hit a nerve". Ora took time to take a 3D x-ray to calculate the exact right depth for the implant without any accidental nerve damage. read more

Great experience with all professional staff. And, bar none, that's what you should want primarily at a health provider of any kind. I did go to another ora, on Randolph, for my night guard because what they provided here was a tray- not a true, heavy guard. The room for improvement- after 3+ years as a patient I haven't seen the same office staff twice and the customer service experience has reflected that. I had very poor experiences with being on the wait list, billing issues, appointments running over an hour late, and appointment confirmations coming for different dates from what was scheduled. A stable front office would make this office nearly perfect. read more

So far, I have had only one appointment. But let me tell you just how awesome that one appointment was! Back story: I stopped going to a previous dentist because they no long took HMO. So I found one @ 122 S. Michigan Ave. Really great people. But I told them that the reason I was back at the dentist was to not only have healthy teeth, but mainly to get my teeth straightened. After fixating on this one tooth of mine (root canal, now they want to do some expensive minor surgery to make room for a cap on that one tooth and then pull out my wisdom teeth), I just got really irritated. I really just want my teeth straightened. And the way they keep having me come back is annoying. Just do what you have to do in a day so I can move on with my life already. So I took matters into my own hands and found a place that does Invisalign. That is when I happened upon Ora. So much closer to home too and free parking. It was already starting out to be awesome. When I got in I noticed how amazing and modern the place looked. I liked it. Even the private rooms had t.v.s on the chairs! Then my new orthodontist (Dr. Patel) came in the room and she was awesome. She saw how eager I was to get started on my Invisaline treatment and got me started right away. She even filled in a blue filling that my dentist put in to keep me coming back that day! They took the scans and pictures and I was out. Today I go back for them to tell me the time frame that Invisalign has set for me. The 1st set of trays should be in by next month. Unfortunately I can't switch to this location for my full dentist needs at this time because they accept PPO not HMO. But I'm really considering changing once my teeth are gorgeously straight.
