I have been going to Dentologie since 2017 and have come to trust them greatly. I've been treated by at least 4 different dentists, all excellent and also offering good advice without pushing unnecessary procedures. The hygienists are gentle, but thorough. Bottom Line - Unethical treatment resulting in costly, intrusive care. This is a dated review in that I went to Dentologie for 7yrs (2015-2022). Prior to going to Dentologie, I had one cavity in my lifetime (30yrs old). While at Dentologie, I was told I had 5 separate cavities that required fillings (which I had done) and I ultimately received a Crown as well. Unfortunately, I was naive in that I did not seek a second opinion - I had trusted that a dentist and the office staff are ethical in recommendations to meet the expected standard of care. Something always felt off as a patient - it's a very chic office, growing like crazy - but I just assumed they were taking on dentistry with a new, modern approach. I've been with a new dentist for 3.5yrs with no teeth under watch, no cavities. I just learned that my crown, that is 4yrs old, is cracked. My current dentist indicated the crown that was put on was not adjusted properly for my bite resulting in pressure over time that would yield a fracture. Reflecting on this dentist, I'm realizing that I was led to believe invasive work was required. I've read additional reviews and conferred with friends --this is NOT an isolated incident at this office or any other location. This practice is unethical and lacking quality of care - they will push expensive work at the expense of the patient. I'm very glad to have moved on, but unfortunately still dealing with consequences. read more

I originally went in for a cleaning and was told i may need a root canal. I didn't want to do this and was convinced that before getting a root canal we should do the cleaning. I asked them to confirm with my insurance. Called my insurance and they said as long as it was necessary i was fine. I have MET life. Almost 1 year and a half later i have received a bill that it was NOT covered by my insurance due to it not being necessary. My sister who recommended me had the same issue and went to another dental office to which they agreed that dentologie was just trying to charge her insurance. That majority of things they recommended to my sister was NOT necessary. I would not go here. Also this was one of the most painful cleanings i have ever had and i was previously getting my dental work while enlisted in the military. read more

I received a bill from Dentologie five months after my procedure for $150 that was never disclosed in my original estimate. I financed the quoted amount through Affirm and was told my balance was $802.30. After insurance processing, I was never notified that an additional amount would be due. Now I'm being threatened with collections unless I pay within five days. I have emailed multiple times requesting clarification and documentation and was told they "haven't heard from me," despite my documented replies. Patients deserve transparent billing, timely communication, and accurate estimates. This experience has been frustrating and disappointing. read more

I've been using Dentologie South Loop for years. Lately I've noticed a decline in the overall experience. Staff are no longer friendly, you don't the little goodie bag after a visit, and it's hard to reach the office- sometimes when you call, the AI assistant hangs up. read more

Please be careful when fillings and crowns are recommended. Make sure to check with your own insurance first prior to agreeing to any type of procedure or get a second opinion. Currently dealing with a huge bill from Dentologie regarding crowns that were done 2 years ago and may be medically unnecessary, therefore insurance denied it. Giving two stars because I have had decent experience when it came to the routine washing and dental checks, but for anything going beyond that be careful! read more

1. Hygienist-Melissa at your south loop location was very abrasive with the cleaning. I have been attending annual cleaning for over 20 years and this is the first and unprofessional hygienist experience who sprayed cleaning water all over my hair, face and clothes and was very violent and abrasive during cleaning. I have a picture of my entire top covered with stinky disgusting water everywhere. This is very unprofessional and poor service for a well known company like yours. Returning to work after my oral cleaning in drenched clothes and hair messed up is a first for me and very unprofessional and poor service by your hygienist and company. 2. My appointment was rescheduled for an earlier date by a member of your customer service team however when I reached south loop location on my appt day , they weren't able to locate my appt and I had to wait several hours to get placed with a new hygienist. Clearly there is a disconnect between your own systems and communication to your offices. This leads to frustration because people like me are taking PTO from work to come for appointments from our busy schedules. This is very inconvenient from your office staff leading to additional PTO time of mine and scheduled events that I had to cancel for pushing out my time. I'm a local here and have been coming to Dentologie for years however, this was a very awful experience and a poor service and mistreatment I experienced from Dentologie staff! read more

Finally got a chance to check this place out (and sadly, I finally went to a dentist lol) but was pleasantly surprised. This dentist office is aesthetically pleasing; modern but comfortable furniture, well maintained office & patient rooms as well as very friendly staff. Things to note: please check to make sure your insurance is accepted because this place isn't cheap, but isn't cosmetically expensive. Also, the office can get very busy/loud because of the amount of patients coming in, lobby traffic can create a bit of a wait as well as the working on patients in the back. I can honestly say, that they were kind and patience with my previous painful dentist experiences lol; they walk me through everything that I needed, as well as reviewed my teeth. The cleaning was well done. Their patient rooms are clean, comfortable and have flat screens to entertain (and/or help) distract you. read more

After checking that my insurance was in Network I made an appointment and submitted all of my information including insurance, 1 week before my appointment. I walked in to be told my insurance was Out of Network which still makes no sense. And that I would have to pay for everything in full. I was upset that no one called, texted, emailed to let me know ahead of time. As if the expectation was that I would just resort to paying in full. Keep in mind this was an emergency visit. I definitely felt like the intention was to scam me to just pay the full amount rather then being transparent. read more

I got up and walked out after she fumbled with the x-ray gun, the scanner, and poorly polished my teeth. She hardly flossed me. This dental office places far too much emphasis on becoming social media famous and not enough on clean, ethical dental practices. The front desk is consistently confused and slow. I have visited this location twice, and each time there were payment issues. I was quoted one amount initially, then presented with a different charge afterward, despite no additional procedures being performed. I went in for a routine cleaning and X-rays, and when I left, there was still blood and grime all over my mouth. The office itself was unclean and outdated. When my insurance company requested my X-rays so I could transfer care elsewhere, the office stopped responding. I also personally requested my X-rays and never received a reply, which is illegal. They mixed up my X-rays, were unsure which tooth required treatment, and attempted to upcharge me over $100. Despite ignoring my requests for my records, they continue to text me repeatedly to schedule a new appointment. They will ignore my messages about my X-rays, then reach out a day later asking me to book another visit. This experience has been extremely unprofessional and concerning. read more

I've been a long standing patient at this clinic, but this clinic has billed my insurance without my authorization. Stay away from this clinic! They would call me the night before my appointment and told me that my periodontal maintenance would not be covered by insurance due to frequency, which I was completely fine with. I paid for my service after I was done with my appointment and then two weeks later, I would get an invoice from Dentologie stating that I owed them money due to coinsurance. Not sure why they would bill my insurance when they charged me out of pocket. read more

Scheduled a dental cleaning and rcvd an email confirming I was scheduled to see a dentist for "New Patient, Doctor Exam, X-Rays, Teeth Cleaning." Additionally they added "We've reimagined dentistry to put you first--comfortable, modern spaces, expert care with no judgment, and a team that makes every visit seamless and stress-free." My experience did not live up to the hype. It was not seamless or stress free.I arrived and was taken to a room where I was told they could not do my teeth cleaning on that visit. "What?!" I thought because I literally booked a cleaning and was off of work to make the appt they confirmed. They told me that they were having plumbing issues and only a few of the rooms had suction so they couldn't do my cleaning but could do my x-rays and I could schedule another slot for the cleaning. This was very frustrating and greatly inconvenient. I asked why they didn't call and cancel patient appointments if this was the case and they said it literally just happened. The front desk however seemed to confirm that they had made some cancellations much earlier that morning. I was very put out by paying for an Uber to arrive for an appointment they clearly should have cancelled via phone prior to my arrival. The manager, Stephanie was very customer service oriented and offered to get me an Uber home and a gift card to cover the Uber there earlier. Nice people but so far i've only experienced inconvenience with this location. Will update review if they fix their plumbing and I actually choose to get service. Please note allegedly some of the rooms did have suction but those were reserved for other patients ( perhaps having procedures). It did feel like a bait and switch to arrive and be taken to a room where they announce we can do your x-rays today but not the cleaning when I literally booked a cleaning online. They should be more considerate of client's time. UPDATE-Stephanie, the manager, went above and beyond to make up for the challenges the office had when I attempted my first visit so I updated my stars for her customer service skills. I'm seriously going to pull my hair out with these guys. I can NEVER get the office when I call. The call always goest to the concierge and they call me back, of course, at an inconvenient time for me. Why am I chasing them??? Seriously, don't waste your time. There are plenty of other dentistry offices to choose from. I've been a patient here for 5 years+ and sadly this place has gone downhill. The space and staff onsite are still great. The issue is you can never get an appointment and never get anyone on the phone. I've been waiting for my permanent crown to arrive for nearly a month and every time I call, I get the concierge service and have to leave a message, which I may or may not get a call back. And you better make your appointment for cleaning when you're on-site because if you wait, you'll be pushed out months. After 2 years I visited this shady practice. I finally visited a real dental office 'forever dental'. Dentologie said i had 13 cavities, 1 year later i had 3 cavitites at another office, didn't treat it to yesterday visiting forever dental who showed me all the Xray saying I only had 1! Going from 13 to 1 is extremely concerning. What a money grab Dentologie is doing. Telling patients to perform treatment that do not exist and are completely unnecessary and even damaging to your teeth. PEOPLE BE AWARE OF THEIR EXAM. When I first moved to Chicago and needed a new dentist, I looked at reviews on Yelp to find one. This practice had glowing reviews so I had to check it out. Since then, I've been a patient for several years. The office is beautiful and is always very clean. Everyone on staff is friendly and welcoming. They play awesome music, and each dental chair has 2 tvs- one on the ceiling for when you're reclined, and one on the wall for when you're upright. They let you choose what you want to watch, an added bonus. The distractions are nice when you're going through uncomfortable dental procedures. Through the years they've upped their services and technologies. They recently added a new system that takes 3D images of your teeth and mouth. They also recently added the ability to make crowns, same day, in-house. No more temporary crowns- woohoo! I've had a few problems in terms of care quality which is why I am giving a *3.75* star rating instead of 5. I've had to go to another dentist for 2nd opinions for these problems which cost me $ out of pocket and my time. I'm considering changing dentists, perhaps to someone with more experience. read more

I received 11 text messages from Dentologie in a single day. Each text was the same, saying that I owed more than $100 for a standard cleaning that took place last week, which had always been covered by insurance in previous years. I paid the bill. Then, I received additional text messages from Dentologie saying that I owed a further $70 for a cleaning that took place more than 2 years ago. I spoke with the offices four times on the phone, and nobody was able to resolve the problem. I will never be returning to this place. Also, my last appointment was scheduled to start at 8:00 AM. I arrived at 7:45 AM as the standard courtesy to arrive 15 minutes before the appointment. The dentist/technician didn't start until 8:15 AM. As the first time-slot of the day, it is unacceptable to begin the workday behind schedule. Truly horrible experience. read more

I came in with a question about my permanent bottom retainer and they were able to help remove it, get me set up with a removable retainer and help set me up for future cleanings with their Dentologie Plus program. At the front, Cassie is fantastic and warm, she helped answer all my questions and find the right plan for me. In the exam room, Bianca and Dr. Song are both so welcoming and helpful. You can tell with this brand they are trying to make patients feel at ease and comfortable, and they nailed it. Awesome team. read more

They lied about my services. They told me they had time to clean my teeth and then did not. I was there for an hour and a half for a "consultation". Who ever heard of such a thing. They also billed my insurance for services that were part of their "free consultation"!!! It's NOT free. I've been coming here since 2017. This place used to be super bougie, really clean and technologically savvy. I have recieved multiple cleanings and most recently, a tooth implant that was thousands of dollars out of pocket. The billing organization on that was a nightmare. Told different amounts on 3 different occasions and multiple timelines for work. I gave them a pass since previous interactions had been positive. My cleaning was scheduled for this morning. Checked in, brought back, and was told I was in the system as a new patient. WHAT? Nope, that's not a thing. Touched base with the front desk as my insurance was not going to cover me with new patient services for a dentist THAT I ALREADY GO TO. She rattled off a bunch of information, and them said, "oh, I'm looking at the wrong patient". Right. I'll be finding another dentist in network who is more organized. read more

I moved to the area and wanted a dentist closer to where I now live. I saw the tiktoks and I was intrigued. I read the yelp reviews about them finding things wrong and I wasn't fazed. I made an appointment. People in the office were pretty nice. The TVs were a great distraction. And then in came the dentist. Told me I needed a crown (YAS QUEEN...oh shit. Wait). Showed me on my X-rays where there was a cavity coming in and how my fillings were basically useless and tried to set up an appointment for the following week. Except I haven't had so much as a cavity in like a decade. My teeth weren't in pain. I mean- it's not out of the realm of possibility, but it seemed highly unlikely all of that was necessary. I never made the appointment for the crown. I canceled my appointment for my next cleaning and went back to my previous dentist. I passed with flying colors. No cavities. No need for a crown. My fillings from the last century were holding up just fine. I loved the bells and whistles of the office. But not when those are the sounds of unnecessary drilling in my head. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Dong Song in 2024. Overall, he has a warm bedside manner. However, I encourage every potential patient of Dentologie to be weary of extraction recommendations. Dr. Song recommended I get an extraction for a tooth, but three other doctors, including one endodontist were confident extraction of that tooth was not necessary. read more

Great reception staff, but overall experience was kind of like being at a fast food restaurant or salon in which they are trying to up-sell more services/products...i.e. their version of the Invisalign. The dental hygienist was super nice, but his hands were too big for my mouth as were the x-ray bite tools, which were the most painful things ever... He subjected me to almost an hour of X-rays at my first appointment because he was unable to take them properly, which I have learned is unacceptable by FDA and ADA standards as this is an insane amount of radiation to my head. Furthermore, no thyroid protection was given during this time. I am hoping that I don't get cancer. Honestly, I am shocked that these were done so old school as my dentists' offices in DC and VA all have the standing 360 scanner for the past 10-15 years. Then, I had to spend another hour or so in the chair for scanning for their version of the Invisalign, which they said would substitute the need for my night guard. The dentist didn't even address my gym recession and was focused on selling me their version of the Invisalign. He said this could be done in place of a new night guard as I wanted to close one small gap the developed in my bottom row of teeth. He said that that would be corrected quickly, so I asked him why I'd have to do two full series of their Invisalign (I think $3700). He said he couldn't change the pricing special as it's a minimum... He told me to ask the front desk so that a manager could respond. They never did after several messages. In essence, I am not into this commercial, factory-like experience. I grew up with the same dentists and hygienists; and in my adult life, I have had stayed with the same dentists during the years that I lived in several cities. I prefer to have a more personal touch when it comes to my health. read more

Initially saw ads on instagram and thought the place would be good. Maybe if they spent less time making content for social media the wait time and service would be more efficient. I was placed on a roll and told they usually don't use that room, so why am I in here?! The dental assistant barely polished my teeth and gave very much amateur. It felt my 3 year old was playing in my mouth. The dentist came in and was very robotic, and quick. Not personable at all and seems to only have cleaned a portion of my teeth. I've been in out of the dentist since a child and my teeth doesn't feel clean at all. I would have been better off using an water pick at home and a simple brush. Do not get your dental treatment done at Dentologie. I was told that I had 5 cavities after completing Invisalign treatment. When I got a second opinion only 1 of those cavities was actual tooth decay, and was too early to drill into. They are happy to just take your money regardless of if you actually need the services. I also had issues with my Invisalign treatment as. I purchased Invisalign services through the Streeterville location, only to find that the doctor had left the practice by my check in. Not only that, my bite was "open" so it seems that doctor wanted to collect the invisalign check and leave, so I had way longer in the trays than they initially told me. There were a ton of other issues throughout the Invisalign process, not being able to reach anyone by phone with questions, them removing my buttons too early and my teeth shifting, me having to point out that one of my teeth wasn't straight without the doctor even noticing. I definitely recommend going to a local dentist for Invisalign as they are more focused on patient care. read more

I want to be able to recommend them but there has been quite a few major inconveniences - for instance this morning showing up for a 8am appointment on a Friday that they sent multiple emails and text reminders about and them NOT being able to find my Invisalign trays....so what's the point of the appointment again?? Or the fact that my insurance has sent checks to them that I should receive and currently still waiting after months to receive the checks and every time I check in I'm told they are cutting it and sending it, it has yet to happen after 5 months... I'm really disappointed with my experience at this point and that saddens me bc I have friends that rave but this was ~ 2 years ago. At this point i just want to finish my Invisalign treatment and receive my insurance reimbursements and that is starting to seem Impossible.... read more

Very high turnover with doctors. Please ask questions about EVERYTHING they want to do and don't let them try to intimidate you by acting like you're dumb. Follow-up on things and keep meticulous notes concerning your treatment. If you don't have anxiety about going to the dentist, you will certainly get it after dealing with this place. read more

I was skeptical at first. I found them through tik tok and reviews had me feeling on edge. I haven't been to the dentist in years so I was nervous. But honestly, Dentologie helped me with my experience. The doctor answered all my questions. No such thing as a dumb question. But I like to know everything when it comes to my health. The dentist was calm and patient with me. I had to have some fillings done and a deep cleaning. The experience was smooth sailing. The offices (streeterville and south loop) are both very clean and welcoming. I ended up getting most of services completed at streeterville due to availability. It saddens me to leave this review as I've been going to Dentologie for about four years now, and generally my experiences have been nothing but pleasant. I'm cavity-prone, so I've had plenty of fillings here, and the staff is very kind, including my dentist, Dr. Robert Villa. They truly are nice people. However, my fiancé and I won't be returning as I feel extremely misled. I was seen in January 2021 for a regular cleaning and checkup and was told by the same dentist that I would need 2 crowns since I have so many fillings. As a 25 year old with generally good teeth besides said fillings, I was a bit taken aback. I probed to get an understanding as to why there was the need and how urgent this was. I was told they were recommended simply because I have so many fillings and that they should be completed within the next 3 months. Something felt off, especially with the mention of that timeline... Well, I'm sure glad I listened to my gut. I received a second opinion from another dentist that came highly recommended by reviews and word of mouth and was told I do not in fact need crowns. New x-rays were also required given my original ones from Dentologie were so blurry that it appeared in theirs, I may have a cavity in one area, but in the new x-ray, it's obvious I don't. May I need these crowns in the next 10-20 years? Yes, absolutely. I do have plenty of fillings, but I've been told they look great -- intact, without stains, and are holding up extremely well. When they deteriorate, we'll assess the need. Until then, I'm happy to have avoided $2k in dental bills and invasive, unnecessary work. This isn't a matter of Dentologie being preventative as they've said to other similar reviews -- I simply don't need crowns at this moment in time and very likely, will not even require them for at LEAST the next 5-7 years. To me, recommending dental work that isn't needed for YEARS isn't precautionary, it's incredibly deceptive. read more

They have great communication before the appointment as well and help with any questions. The hygienist made sure to communicate every step of the cleaning process and the dentist spent time to see how I was doing.
