I don't even know where to begin, this was truly a 10/10 experience. I came in for an emergency dental visit, and they took me in immediately, no hassle, no runaround. Even though the office was clearly busy, I never once felt rushed or like just another patient on a list. The entire team was incredibly attentive and genuinely focused on making sure I was comfortable and okay. I ended up needing a crown, and they handled everything right then and there, no temporary fix, no waiting weeks for a crown. The fact that they were able to complete the entire procedure on the spot was impressive on its own, but what stood out even more was the quality of the work and the care behind it. Jackie and Dr. Rob were exceptional. They walked me through everything, made sure I felt at ease, and checked in constantly throughout the process. For something that could have been stressful, they made it seamless. I'm beyond grateful for the level of professionalism, efficiency, and compassion I experienced. Couldn't recommend them more. I had a mixed but ultimately negative experience with this provider and would not return. At my initial visit, there were some early concerns. The doctor repeatedly emphasized how busy he is, which came across as rushed and somewhat dismissive. Before proceeding with treatment (Botox for TMJ), I reached out via email and phone with specific questions, including a request for him to consult with my neurologist, which my neurologist recommended. I was told that the doctor deemed the consultation unnecessary and that he would address any questions at the time of the appointment. I was also told he was too busy to review my questions in advance. This made it difficult to feel fully informed or confident going into the procedure. I decided to pursue the procedure anyway. To his credit, during the procedure he did answer my questions and agreed to treat the requested area. However, at my two-week follow-up, I reported increased pain that had been impacting my ability to work and function. The doctor shared a story about another patient he described as someone who complains all the time. The story felt indirect but strongly implied that patient concerns like mine might be exaggerated. This made me feel uncomfortable and dismissed at a time when I was seeking support and clarity about worsening symptoms. Additionally, while in the waiting room, I observed another patient being questioned in a similarly dismissive tone when she asked for additional help post-treatment. This reinforced my concern about how patient concerns are handled in this practice. Overall, while the procedure itself was completed, the communication style, lack of responsiveness beforehand, and dismissive handling of post-procedure concerns made this a negative experience. I would encourage others to ask detailed questions in advance and consider whether this practice is a good fit for them. Long-term results of my treatment experience are yet to be determined, but I will not be returning due to the unprofessional manner in which the provider speaks about, and to, patients. read more

Dr. Hoffman and his team are incredible! After struggling with poorly made front crowns that kept falling out, they transformed my teeth into strong, beautiful smiles that give me so much confidence. The entire process was luxurious and supportive--I had a weighted blanket and a hand mask while the work was being done. There's also a full menu of self-care items you can opt for at no extra cost (get them all!), including noise-canceling headphones and more--just a tip: skip mascara and dress cozy if you use the eye mask, as it's a process. Nitrous elevated the experience and kept me calm during the intense work. Dr. Hoffman's expertise and passion are unmatched, and his team is highly skilled and compassionate. Do Not Recommend. I had a bridge put in. Dr Hoffman would not go down on the shade and the bridge did not look a thing like my previous bridge, my smile was changed and not for the better. My smile now Screams out, this is a bridge. My experience there was NOT GOOD. Dr Hoffman didn't fill me in on all of my treatment. Later, when asked he said, well it was in the papers you signed. He pushes, Invisalign. He told me my bite would not change only move the teeth back. My TMJ is worse. My bite is off. I have chipped teeth, and a molar that broke at his root. I went to another denist to have this fixed. When I told him this he brought in a witness and told me to only come to him. All in all taking in, he does not listen to what you ask for. His dental work on my bridge was horrible. He refused to give me a new bridge stating that what he put in was a better look. STAY away- his work in cosmetic dentistry is not good. His personality is, that he is the only denist that can do the best work. Very pompous.. even his staff snickers about his God complex. Pretty much a red flag. Most of his 5 star reviews come from texts he sends you to review him after each visit. My advice is stay away. read more

I've been going to Chicago Dental Studio for several years and I've always been happy with the staff, the service. . . Just recently though, I had to have some major dental work done and while I can't say it was lovely. . .I mean it was dental work. I have to say that Dr. Hoffman and the staff were all amazing, making it as good of a process, situation, as possible. \I started off working with Stephanie, who worked, so hard and thoroughly, to help me know what exactly would be covered by insurance, to ensure I had all the information and documents needed to submit my claim to insurance. This was a lot of work being done and it was not cheap, so I so, so, so appreciate Stephanie's help in working with insurance. She was awesome and at least made me comfortable understanding what the cost would be to me. There was a lot of work done, over multiple appointments, but Dr. Hoffman (dentist,) did an awesome job, always making sure I was as comfortable as possible, not in pain. . . Ari was the hygienist working with Dr. Hoffman on all of the work I had done and she was awesome! Ari also was always making sure that I was okay and wasn't in pain. Also, she was just awesome at keeping my mouth as comfortable as possible. She was rinsing parts with water when needed, sucking up water and spit in my mouth as needed. . . I didn't have to tell her, or motion that something was needed. She was on top of things, keeping me as comfortable as possible. Let's face it, .having work done at the dentist isn't enjoyable. I was very happy with Chicago Dental Studio up until I had a major dental accident and went to them for help. After the initial emergency procedure, I was pressured to pay thousands of dollars immediately by the owner, Nathan Hoffman. He said that was what we agreed to, which I had no recollection of due to the accident, but I don't doubt was true. I was alarmed but thought it was probably all fair. Then I went to another dentist for a second opinion just in case, and they counseled that I had been overbilled, Chicago Dental Studio was pushing insurance to the max as well as my out of pocket costs, and they advised I complain as they had seen many other cases from Dr. Hoffman with the same treatment. My accident was over a year ago and I'm just getting around to this now since I don't usually do this kind of thing. It's disappointing that all the nice treatment and environment provided by Chicago Dental Studio is there to loosen wallets rather than out of care for the customer. I shouldn't be surprised though in this area. They do good cleanings here and will pamper you well, but avoid for anything major if you don't have money to burn. read more

Since my last review was DELETED by the office, I wanted to update my review! 2.5 years ago I had my veneers done with Dr. Hoffman! Huge MISTAKE! It ended up being the biggest mistake of my life. Immediately I regretted my decision when they were too big and bulky for my mouth. Within 6 months I started having discomfort and once I started to complain about pain in my face and jaw, he dismissed my symptoms and insisted there was nothing wrong (Illinois Compiled Statutes (735 ILCS 5/2-622 and related). Hoffman said I had an issue with TMJ, which I also never had before, and chose to inject me with 100 units of Botox. I ended up in the ER the next day with dysphasia (closing of the throat) which can be a symptom of misplaced Botox (Illinois Dental Practice Act (225 ILCS 25/): governs the standard of care for dentists). Improper use of injectables outside their training could be a violation. But of course he denied the possibility of this happening and sent me away with no answers. The pain continued to get worse over the course of 2 years. I went to a specialist after specialist trying to figure out how to fix the facial pulling and jaw locking/clicking. It was honestly the worst 2 years of my life. Luckily I found a new office in the city, who spent so much time with me trying to find answers. It came down to one answer, and that was to redo the veneers, to make them smaller and fit my mouth. It's been 2 months, and I'm feeling so much better. Unfortunately some of the facial pulling is still present, but I hope it will get better over time. I fear that I will be stuck with some discomfort for the rest of my life. And all good Hoffman to dismiss me, misdiagnose me, mistreat me, AND have my review deleted! I won't stop reposting this review. And in fact, now, I'm considering taking legal action, and looking into my options! (Your right to post a truthful review is protected under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA) (15 U.S.C. §45b)). Stay Away!! Dr Nathan Hoffman told me i had an "infection" and I needed to see his endodontist for Root Canal immediately. I was given a price and 2 appointments. After getting a 2nd opinion that cost me $500 I was given an objective report in writing that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth. This post is long over due. If you want a beautiful smile, go to Dr. Hoffman. I was born without one of my fangs, and then the other one was this little nub. Then I had a broken front tooth (broken in half). All of my teeth had previous work on them - crowns and a Marilyn bridge. They really started looking bad...and they were all different colors! Well, when my fiancé and I got engaged I decided it was time to improve my smile so I didn't feel so self conscious. As you can see, my teeth are beautiful. Through Invisalign, an implant, new crowns and many other small intricacies that Dr. Hoffman spent HOURS and HOURS designing and developing - this is what it now looks like. I CAN FINALLY SMILE WITHOUT FEELING WORRIED!!!! I feel beautiful and so happy to have the smile I do now. Dr. Hoffman and his staff are impeccable. They work diligently to make sure you get what you want, and they're so kind. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, over and over again. I've been seeing Dr. Hoffman for 10 years - honestly maybe more - and *just* invested in Invisalign. I had a permanent retainer on the bottom and a removable one from when I was 10... it's been a minute and my smile was pretty straight (but my back molars were a crooked mess). I would bite my cheeks weekly, had canker sores every other week because my bite was crooked, and would grind my teeth at night which worsened my TMJ. Invisalign with Dr. Hoffman corrected my bite and straightened my back teeth so I don't bite my cheeks all the time and therefore I don't have canker sores anymore! I'm SO pleased!! 10/10 recommend! If not for an aesthetic reason - do Invisalign to correct your bite! I'm campaigning for everyone to stop biting your cheeks when they eat! This is the first dentist office I have genuinely liked, they made me less afraid to go to the dentist. I just went for my first visit since covid (so I was definitely past due for a cleaning) but they reassured me rather than shaming me. I felt very welcomed and comfortable thanks to how friendly and understanding the staff was. Claire did my cleaning and she was the best. They explained every step and answered all my questions. I hated the dentist until I came here. I definitely recommend!! Don't be afraid to go again because they will support you for coming back and they'll take care of you. Dishonest. I had been a patient at the West Loop location for a couple of years. I went in for my last cleaning and the hygienist told me that they had to do more xrays and another exam. I explained that they had already done those earlier in the year and I insisted that I only wanted a cleaning. Dr. Andrew Bosworth then came in and told me that "for my saftey" they could not clean my teeth without doing the additional xrays and exam. I was also told that the additional services were covered and I would not be charged, so I relented. At checkout, I was told that the additional services were, in fact, not covered and I had to pay out of pocket. At the same time, my wife was also in for her first visit at this location. They told her she needed an emergency root canal and they pressured her to come back in for that work the following day due to the risk of infection. Because of what had just happened to me, I suggested that my wife get a second opinion. Her new dentist said that there was no evidence of any problems and no dental work was necessary. read more

Continued review: So, the new year is here and I have a new insurance plan. My broker dropped the ball on me here because he assured me Chicago Dental Studio would be under my insurance plan. I called the office and gave them my new insurance. I confirmed with them if they take it and was told they did. Was never told they did not take it. It took 2 weeks for them to submit my predetermination and not sure why. During this time, I kept calling my insurance company because I noticed nothing on my portal was submitted and my insurance could not understand why they were taking so long to submit it. Was told it's very simple and quick. The representative asked me if I would like her to call the office. She placed me on hold and called on the other line. Spoke to Jesenia which is who I have been dealing with this entire time. The representative told me she spoke to Jesenia and was told "we're still working on it and will submit in the next few days. The representative couldn't understand this because she said it's pretty straight forward. Finally, almost 2 weeks and it's submitted. I also noticed I had a high out of pocket payment. Didn't understand why, so I called my insurance so I can get an explanation. Of course I was told I was out of network. My heart drop and couldn't believe it. I called the office and spoke to Yesenia. She had no clue that I was out of network. I had to tell her this because when I spoke with her, she told me it's all set and I was ready for my appointments. I told her, absolutely not, do you realize I'm out of network... I promise you her reply to me was "oh, your not in network", then a dead silence over the phone. To end this story, I asked twice and not once if Dr. Hoffman could as a kind gesture since I was already a patient and in the middle of the work being done, if he can honor what it would be if I was in network. Are you ready for this?!?! He had his assistant call me and tell me "he would give me 10% off the balance". Mind you my balance was over $5,500 and some change. So, here I am having to search for a new dental office and not only this, I'm still curious what he saw on tooth #19 that Dr. Hulsoff worked on that he did not like. I have a much different take on this place than everyone else. That's for sure. After leaving this practice I found out that I had 3 fillings that were leaking imperiling my teeth and another bad filling that ended up needing a crown. None of which were detected upon an exam here. The dentist prides himself on being the largest seller of Invisalign in Chicago. I don't need an orthodontist. In my opinion, this is a practice for 20 somethings without any challenges and who want prettier smiles not for someone who needs healthcare. Your oral health is important for your overall health and in my experience this was not the place that was going to make that right for you. My wife had a worse experience but I will leave it to hear to talk about it. I will say that I spoke to the dentist on the phone after her visit as I have a healthcare background and was greatly concerned about how it went. We have since received a 2nd opinion and it differed greatly. No big surprise but she does NOT need invisilign to fix her issues. read more

My wife and I had a terrible, nightmare experience with Hoffman. Both of us did our veneers with him. Mine were 24 teeth in total, top and bottom, and hers were the top 8. She has since redone hers with someone else and they're night and day from what Hoffman agreed to deliver and ended up delivering. I made it very clear to him what I wanted from the beginning. He emphasized he was an "artist" a half dozen times, to "trust" him at least a dozen times and went as far as calling himself "one of the best in the country." When someone has to sell you like that it should been a clear indication they're not and your shouldn't. He also agreed to redo all my teeth at his own cost because I hated the final result. His communication with me didn't convey what I needed and if I was good with what he prepared. It was all, "trust me, your teeth were smaller, the color will settle" etc etc. He chose the color. Not me. After telling him they were too white on the temps he supposedly went one notch higher which was still way too white. They don't blend in with my face at all. Something I specified over and over. I hate these things. They're embarrassing. I should've walked out his office when I saw the temps. I gave them so many notes, the color is too white, my phonetics are off, they're bulky, none of which were addressed. In the end, after he broke off the temps and temporarily placed the finals, and after he's ran my credit card for a giant sum, he gives me a 5X6 mirror to confirm if it's all good for him to cement. Yeah, sure, 4 hours in your chair on a Saturday and I'm your second case and you keep reiterating, "trust me, trust me, you're gonna love", sure ok. I'm exhausted and so deep in the process at that point and his confidence is so through the roof so I agree. I'm going to have to redo the whole thing. Everything I told him I didn't want is exactly what he did. As if my direction went through one ear and out the other. I complained and complained about my phonetics. He made a few adjustments that helped a little but from how bad they were it felt like a giant leap. When I saw him again he asked me how I was feeling since the adjustment, I told him I was still struggling. He patted me on the back and said, "I'm sure you'll push through" and walked off. He was done. He made his money. Nothing I could do now. After I came to him with my wife and we complained that we hated our teeth, which looked practically the same except mine were whiter, he dismissed my wife's experience and told me he would redo mine. He isn't aware of his limitations and he is incredibly defensive. He lacks humility. I highly recommend NOT doing your veneers with Hoffman. Go elsewhere. I found an incredible prosthodontist who actually IS an artist and probably one of the best in the country but would never refer to himself as such. He held my wife's hand through the whole process and made sure she was aware of every decision before he finalized. Steer away from CDS and especially Hoffman. Needed a new dentist and made an appointment here based on a recommendation from friends. Got a thorough cleaning and exam, discovered that I had a cracked molar. I was shown the high-res photo of the tooth, and the plan for fixing it was the least invasive option. I also had an old filling on the same side that needed to be replaced. The appointment to repair the tooth and old filling was pretty quick and totally painless, the doc was very thorough with pain management and waited long enough for the anesthetic to kick in. I also was able to listen to music during the procedure to drown out the noise, which is honestly the worst part of dental work in my opinion. They can even create dental implants like onlays and crowns in the office using software and a milling machine, instead of having to get temporary work done and come back again. Less visits = happy patient. No issues with payment or insurance billing, the office is very clean and updated, and the staff from hygienists to front office were super nice and efficient. Very happy with my care so far and will be back next year for a regular cleaning! read more

Ever had a medical professional threaten to charge you if you didn't delete a Yelp review? I have. Ever had a medical professional actually go through with it? Yes, unfortunately that happened too. I purposely left the monetary nitty-gritty details out of my original review (below), but for context, the original situation ended with Dr. Hoffman agreeing to refund me for 50% of the guard (which he did). Within approximately 6 hours of me posting my Yelp review, I received a call from Dr. Hoffman. He told me that my review was unfair (despite him admitting the events described in the review were true), and that if I did not delete my yelp review, he would re-charge me for the 50% of the night guard cost that he'd already refunded. I told him he could not do so because I did not authorize any charges on my card. Acknowledging that was true, he told me he would charge the amount to my patient account at the office, and if I did not pay it, it would go to debt collection. We ended the call "agreeing to disagree." Despite my anger from that call, I chose to be the bigger person and not update my review with these additional details, but rather to just let the situation lie. But, about 1 month after that phone call, I did receive a bill to my home for the remaining 50% of the guard. So, here we are with yelp review #2. Now, I'm left wondering how many 1 or 2 star reviews have been deleted over the years by patients who felt intimidated by Dr. Hoffman, potentially for financial reasons; I won't be one of them. read more

A dog ate my retainer... isn't that how all stories start at the orthodontist? Anyway... it was true a dog did eat my retainer and my teeth had shifted. I was looking for a quick realignment to prevent needing further work in the future. Two of my friends had worked with Dr.Hoffman before and they both had great experiences so I decided to check him out. My experience, from walking in, to my xrays, fit test and then consultation with Dr. Hoffman, was quick, thorough, and a breeze. Everything was super clean (precovid days) and chic. I was able to use insurance to cover some of the cost of Invisalign and only needed about 8 weeks of trays. I was due for my last appointment when CoVID19 started shutting down the city and informed them that I would reschedule once things were a little more certain. I was able to go in recently for my final checkup which showed all my teeth were where they needed to be. Now I'm just waiting on my retainer. The hygienists and front desk personnel explained the process and payment plan thoroughly and answered all of my questions. Thank you for the great experience! read more

Though there have been some recent hiccups in regards to contact ability during an emergency, I have received a sincere apology and compensation for being unable to contact anyone or get my medical records for a length of time during a holiday break. Typically I don't leave reviews, but had to make an exception because this place is the absolute worst.. I made the sad mistake of looking up a place with good reviews going on a whim and nearly $20k later I put my trust into this man because he seemed so confident, what a horrible mistake that was I wish so bad I would've gone elsewhere. Hoffman talks a big game, but I guarantee you he does not deliver. The temporary veneers that I test drove for two weeks were perfect. I made it very clear how much I loved them and how that is exactly what I wanted, sure enough the day I had to get my permanent veneers he assured me they would look great but that he had made some "finishing touches of his own" so I'm like okay?? Kinda defeats the purpose of me telling you exactly what I want, but I thought to myself how bad could it be.. well after going through what felt like an eternity of them breaking my teeth and shaving my teeth down to tiny nubs(which I happened to witness when they left the room and I looked at myself in my phone reflection) They will tell you "No peeking" but now I'm definitely peeking. Upon seeing these tiny nubs I knew I had just made the biggest mistake going there. Then right before they permanently cemented them on they temporarily put them on with some weak gel and w being as numb as I was and not being able to smile correctly it's hard to tell, they kept sliding off and I thought to myself you know what how bad can they be plus this numbing is wearing off let's get this over with so he ends up cementing down the veneers and to my horror as I'm driving home I pulled down my mirror to check out my new smile and was mortified at how incredibly big and bulky these things were not to mention mismatched in color. Some were extra bright and others weren't. Not only that, but it screwed up my bite and I now struggle to even keep my lips closed. They looked nothing like the temporaries. These things are ridiculous!! they're so goofy looking I kept looking in the mirror trying to justify that maybe I'm just not used to them yet, but no truth is they're just that awful... talked to the doctor about redoing them and he said he will only do them at full price, like are you kidding me?? you promised me an amazing smile and didn't deliver and can't even offer to make it right?? I'm sorry but that just says alot about a person like the audacity is mindblowing and that is where all my regret pours in because now I have to go spend another $20k elsewhere to fix his mistake, besides he could care less if I hate these ridiculous chompers, he got paid and I signed the consent form so I guess I'm SOL, but if I could help atleast one person save their smile by not having their teeth absolutely ruined by Dr. Hoffman at the Chicago dental studio, I'm happy. read more

I continue to be impressed with Chicago Dental Studio. I first went to the studio last year around September and have gone through quite a treatment plan with them. At every step of the way, everyone at the Studio was awesome! To give a little bit of context, historically I haven't had a great experience with most dentists recommending and in several cases pushing treatment plans and not taking the time to explain the rationale. That was absolutely not the case here. Dr. Hoffman spent a good amount of time explaining the need for everything that was outlined in the plan and was very patient throughout the process (including wisdom teeth extractions) and with subsequent questions and follow ups that were required. He is a dentistry wizard in terms of the quality of work and the result! He is also conservative and does not recommend unnecessary procedures. The hygienists, and the front desk staff are super capable and nice and have helped accommodate emergency visits when necessary. I highly recommend the Chicago Dental Studio! As an aside, I am impressed by how thorough everyone is at the Chicago Dental Studio to ensure safety in these trying COVID times. I have been to a cleaning and have felt completely safe. Do not go to this office. It's terrible. I just called and the receptionist screamed and then she hung up on me. They charged me for a night guard but are failing to deliver it and the dentist I saw for the appointment was incredibly rude. Her bed side manner doesn't exist. I already reported her and her medical license is being investigated. This office just collects your money and doesn't deliver treatment. Every time I contact them they have a new excuse. To add context, this office collected $1,000 for a night guard but they have been making me jump through hoops to pick it up. I told them initially that I will be working out of state so I'd need to schedule to pick up my night guard a few months out. The receptionist said they can't wait, only after I paid them. Thus, the receptionist has been making me schedule appointments that I cannot come to, even though I made it clear I would not be there, I still had to schedule because they cannot wait. Do not be a patient here. They will not treat you well. Read the other reviews. They overcharge and don't deliver. This time they did this to an attorney. read more

I have been going to this office since they opened. I used to live right down the street, but unfortunately, I now live in St. Charles. I love this office so much that I refuse to change my dentist. Dr. Adam and Dr. Nathan both have great chair side manners and are always very friendly, professional, and truthful. The staff is also very professional and their hours are very convenient, I mean, how many dental offices take appointments at 6 in the evening?! They have always done a great job on my pearly whites and I am very appreciative that they do a very thorough job. read more

OMG do I love Ora - I go to the South loop one and the whole entire office is extraordinary. Dr Krajl and Dr Koos and the entire office worked with me and I was hard on them but they stayed and did a gorgeous job on my teeth. Ashley couldn't be more accommodating and kind.
