I was referred to this dentist for an emergency root canal by my wonderful dentist. I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks with my regular dentist, who is a genius and kind, so I was really worried about having to go to a new dentist for an emergency root camal. My sweet dentist(Dr. Patel from a Sparrow Dental) and Dr.Rocha coordinated how much anxiety medication I needed to fake to be okay during the apt. Once I got to the practice it was very clean and nice. I was so reassured that the receptionist had also just had a root canal and felt okay. Jonathan took me to my room and took some X-rays. Then Dr. Rocha came in and started numbing me, the only slightly painful part. After that, Dr and her assistant Jonathan got to work. I've never written a review for anything other than food haha but my experience with Dr. Rocha was amazing. I had to come in for an emergency root canal (my first one) this morning and her staff took me in ASAP. The front desk ladies were so kind and explained everything financially before the procedure. Crystal, Dr.'s assistant during the root canal was so wonderful. She had a smile on her face and knew I was in extreme pain and assured me everything was going to be ok. Dr. Rocha was FANTASTIC. She is so quick with the procedure and she was so funny when she carried a perfectly normal conversation the entire time. My root canal was pain-free and stress-free. Dr. Rocha is a skilled craftsman that combines art & science. Her hands are gentle and smooth like she's sculpting. A lot of other dentists are ruff or push to hard but you're in good hands w/Dr. Rocha, literally. I was as comfortable as could be. I think she's a healer too cause i was told by 3 dentists that the pain & sensitivity in my teeth was from grinding but that disappeared after i saw Dr. R. I also had jaw pain & that's almost gone too. Everyone in that office was chill. It had a laid-back vibe an energy that made you feel relaxed. Could i say i enjoyed a root canal? Well, after the 5-10 min of heavy drilling, yes...i can (and i was a wreck when i first got there). She'll play your favorite music but if you want to hear Dr Rocha's beautiful voice sing to you in Portuguese i'd do that. She's as real as it gets like you'd want to be friends with her. If anyone gives Dr Rocha less than 5 stars, they need their head checked. I've had three root canals done in my life and my second one was traumatic beyond belief. I told all of the staff this and everyone assured me that she was the right doctor. They couldn't have been more right. I had to get an emergency root canal yesterday after a piece of my back molar broke off. I was extremely nervous because these things can be pricey and I have terrible teeth so I was expecting the worse. However, the procedure went great and Dr. Regina really eased my nerves. Her technician, Joe, took a few radiographs and you can tell Dr. Regina and her staff get along beautifully! Throughout the procedure, I started getting a bit more nervous because of all the drilling, but Dr. Regina would start singing along to the music playing and I'm not sure why, but her laid back attitude totally calmed me. If I ever need a root canal again, which is probably likely, she is the first person I will be going to! She also informed me that she had to cut my gums since the decay was so substantial, said I'd feel some pain once the numbing went away. NO PAIN! The doctor and staff was very sweet. But I had a few upsets throughout my visits. I had three visits to try and get a root canal done. It was extremely difficult bc it was a "live tooth". I felt everything each time the numbing def. Didn't work. It was not comfortable which did not make the visits easy. I was sent home on steroids and to come back a few days later to try starting the root canal again. During that time I was in extreme pain bc they aggravated the tooth. Finally at the last visit I the pain was more tolerable then the first visits. And she was able to complete it. After a month my tooth was still sensitive and felt like there was something in the tooth causing pressure. They kept saying that it would get better. But now after 5 months the pain is back worse and it's extremely sensitive to cold. Well see what the second opinion suggested. Another complaint like normal offices you pay the difference from your insurance upfront and any over payment they will refund you. I received a noticed from my insurance I over paid the doctor shortly after my visits. 2 months later I followed up for the refund they said they will mail it out in two days. Three weeks later still no check. I called and followed up and they said they mailed the check out the week before. A month later I get the check with it dated with the year 2018. the doctor was extremely sweet. And after seeing the reviews I may just had a bad experiences with the office. But it was just one after another issue. But hey no one likes going to the dentist read more

After a root canal I had done at my general dentist failed, he decided to refer me to Bucktown Endodontics for it to be retreated. I had never been to a dental specialist before and wasn't sure what to expect, but from the first contact with Dr. Rocha and her staff, I was impressed! Dr. Rocha is one of the most friendly and kind dentists I've met. She was very warm in her bedside manner, which I felt was really important, given how scary dental work can be. She took time to ask me questions, explain what she was doing, and I never felt rushed at all. I felt like I had a clear understanding of what to expect and she was more than happy to take extra time to address a few questions I had about the process. In terms of her actual work, I must say that she was outstanding! She got me numb almost immediately (which has historically been very difficult for my past dentists to do), and the procedure was painless (yes, I said it...a root canal, painless!). Because of some infection we had to spread things out over a few visits, but each time was the same...great customer service and really attentive dental work. She was very thorough, explained possible complications that could occur, and also took time to closely examine x-rays and confer with staff to ensure she had fully addressed the failed root canal. After my appointments, her staff also took the time to contact me the next day to check and see how I was doing. When I did have a question, the staff had Dr. Rocha contact me right away, and, again, Dr. Rocha took as much time as I needed in answering questions for me. This is a great establishment, from the decor (soothing and modern), to the office staff (friendly and accommodating) to the doctor (Dr. Rocha gets an A+ in my book both for her bedside manner and her thorough dental work). I'm happy to say I'm finally pain free from that root canal, and am glad to say I have now found both a general dentist (Clearly Cares Dental) and a specialist (Bucktown Endodontics) who are both skilled and caring. I have had so many root canals at different locations that were from very painful experiences to mediocre pain to no pain so my anxiety was a bit elevated knowing my son needed to see an endodontist for his front tooth with a possible root canal. I have paid uber amounts of money too which goes with the territory. Wow! For my 13 year old son to say " I like that doctor", it speaks volumes. Dr. Rocha was SO friendly, kind and very knowledgeable. My son needed a root canal today on his front tooth and he was nervous about it (pain, needles etc, who can blame him eh? ). Dr. Rocha broke it down in detail, alleviated my son's anxiety with a smile, a little joke and just a soothing dental chair manner. Her staff were friendly as well.She knocked out the root canal in an hour with a bleaching process too for his discoloration. He was a trooper as she was great. Its a small office in front but I don't mind as its clean, very organized and Dr. Rocha comes with a great reputation from my son's dentist. There is no other place I would have gone. I hate the dentist, the thought of the dentist brings me to tears... which is why I had to see Dr. Regina Rocha, because I had waited 8 years to go in for a regular check up, and it was only until I couldn't bare the pain in my tooth any longer that I finally went. That being said, this was the best possible experience I could have had at the dentist. I got a root canal here, and as scary as it was, Dr. Rocha was so warm, and so friendly, and so gentle, and even sang to me in Portuguese. The only pain I felt was from the anesthetic shots, which she warned me that I would feel a pinch, and it wasn't even that bad. She tested my tooth with ice before she started doing any of the drilling or scary stuff. I couldn't feel anything throughout the entire procedure. Her and her assistant made me laugh throughout, and put my mind at ease. The receptionist was warm and friendly, and seemed interested in learning more about the practice and procedures. Everything was explained to me with just enough detail but not too much detail. The whole shebang took a little less than an hour and a half. They checked with my insurance when I made the appointment and outlined what I was expected to pay before the procedure so I knew what my out of pocket cost would be going in to it. No surprises there. Hopefully, I will not require Dr. Rocha's services again, but if I do, I know that I am in safe hands. I would absolutely 100% recommend her to anyone and everyone. read more

I'll tell you this...I'm not scared of much. I dive with sharks, I ride dirtbikes, I do crazy things all of the time, but I am irrationally and unequivocally afraid of the dentist. Like, crying-shaking-panic attacking afraid of the dentist. I was not happy that I had to go to Dr. Rocha to get two (!) root canals done. When I arrived at her very modern, clean, and soothing office, her hygenist immediately put me at ease. I was settled into a chair, had X-rays taken, and then the doctor came in to discuss my treatment. I told her of my crippling fear (I didn't cry during my X-rays, which was a win in my book) and Dr. Rocha numbed my gums for the anesthetic and talked to me about my previous bad dental experiences. She promised me she wouldn't hurt me and actually waited after the first couple of numbing shots to give me more when I was number. I didn't feel a thing for the deep, ouchy shots. Then there was drilling, and filing, and gross suction-y stuff but there was also humming, and singing, and joking, and checking in on me. Next thing I knew, I was being sat up for the final X-rays, and voila! All done. This was without a doubt the most painless, relaxing, gentle experience I have ever had at a dentist office. I was so relieved at the end of my appointment that I gave Dr. Rocha a hug. I HUGGED MY DENTIST. That's crazy talk. If you've been putting off some serious dental work, take my advice: do it. Dr. Regina Rocha came highly recommended as the specialist in endodontics to look at two teeth that might require root canals. It just so happened that both teeth did require root canals. This being my first root canal experience I did not know what to expect. Dr. Rocha explained the process in great detail and all the dental work was done with great precision. I had no pain during the procedure and my recovery process went very well with minimal discomfort. Bucktown Endodontics is a very comfortable office with a friendly group of people running it. I've never been afraid to go to a dentist but recently developed that fear! I recently had a horrible HORRIBLE pain in a tooth I had a root canal done over 6 years ago. I went to my current regular dentist ( not the one who did root canal) and he immediately knew after some xrays and a quick exam I needed to see a root canal specialist (Endodontist) they called around and they were able to accommodate me here. I am so glad they took me! That first time was pure HELL. I have a ridiculous pain tolerance and that's my issue I go in for things when I'm in immense intolerable pain...very bad I know, I just can't help it. So when I get there and she started messing around and attempting to numb me I just couldn't take it. I was a hot mess, crying, no sobbing out loud, all types of things running down my face. Ugh. She ended up doing more xrays to really see what was going on and I guess that old root canal got infected and got an abscess! How crazy! I felt so gross knowing that was growing in my gums! And the pain it produced I wish that on no one! Well maybe one or two....;) We could not proceed that day so I came by the next to get checked again. Inflammation was still bad but I was tolerating pain better with home remedies and some ibuprofen. Today I went back and I was terrified. Terrified for nothing! It went so smooth and I felt so relaxed this time around I swear I could have dozed off. Nothing really hurt during the procedure. She had to redo that old root canal. So imagine. Yuck. I wish she could be my everyday dentist. The entire staff and office is so warm and welcoming I felt like I was walking into my family's homes to hang out lol. Even my daughter mentioned she liked it there when we left, she was waiting up front reading. I am so thankful for Dr. Rocha and her staff. They just run so smooth and professional. If every dentist and endodontist was like Dr. Rocha, the typical fear and loathing people have of the dentist wouldn't be a thing. My (also wonderful) general dentist has twice referred me to Dr. Rocha when I've needed care beyond his specialities. Both times I was in extreme pain and required root canal therapy. Is it normal to look forward to a root canal? No, it's psychotic. But after my first experience with Dr. Rocha and knowing that I was about to have a second, I actually did. Each time, the staff at Bucktown Endodontics quickly worked me into the schedule for a consultation and treatment. Before doing anything, they will walk you through costs, insurance coverage, and payments so that you're in the loop. During my latest visit, Dr. Rocha and her great assistant Johnathon offered to work through lunch (the same day) to perform the root canal I desperately needed, saving my sanity after days of extreme pain and misery. They made sure that I was comfortable, knew what was going on, and not in pain during any part of the procedure. Please do yourself a favor and book that appointment you've been putting off. I had the most incredible experience with Dr. Rocha and Johnathon. They went over and above to calm me down before my procedure and inform me of everything i needed to know being pregnant and undergoing treatment. With beautiful Portguese music playing and gave me a blanket to keep warm, and numbed me so I wouldn't feel a thing, it ended up being the most relaxing part of my day! I was dreading taking my son for a root canal. All I can say is I left Bucktown Endodontics feeling more at peace than when I arrived. No, I'm serious. I was in the room for the procedure. Dr. Rocha and her amazing assistant worked on my son with kind precision. Artistry and science working symbiotically. When she asked my son what music he wanted to hear during the procedure, he responded with Queen which she immediately played on her handy Bluetooth speaker. He was immediately at ease. I was in awe. I went in absolutely terrified of what I presumed was akin to medieval torture, and left delighted and surprised that the procedure was less painful than a cavity fill.
