I used to go here regularly a very long time ago. I wanted invisilign... my doctor at the time recommended and pressured me into getting veneers on my front 2 teeth instead. A decision I have deeply regretted since. My veneer popped out and so I went back here to get it re-cemented until I could get it replaced. The doctor refused to help me unless I agreed to other pricey services saying it was a liability for him to reattach, if it fell off again. I was almost in tears as no one would help me and no front tooth. They didn't care. Went to my childhood dentist who attached it for free and told me... "they could have helped you. They didn't want to." While these visits are now awhile ago in my experience over a decade this establishment are a bunch of crooks. 0 stars read more

I've been going to Dental Salon since 2007. I had a lot of work done there over the years: 15-20 fillings, 3 root canals, 2 crowns, and even 1 biopsy. I never left a Yelp review before but they were all 4 or 5 star experiences. Dr. Morris, the former owner, was awesome. The 3 other dentists I saw prior to my last (and final) visit took excellent care of me. Despite the fact that the practice seemed like a revolving door of dental talent, the former dentists were all good. The last time I went, though, I needed a total of 4 fillings done in 3 quadrants of the mouth. I was basically required to keep my mouth open non-stop during all of the drilling. If your mouth is open almost max wide, you need breaks from time to time. I had to beg for suction at the end just so my jaw could take a break. This was never an issue with other dentists. This alone made it my worst dental experience, the WOAT if you will. There was an issue with the anesthesia. The bottom left of my mouth had to be given 3 doses (one dose after drilling had started) before it was enough. The dentist also nicked my inner cheek with a live drill, a first for me. After many years of loyal patronage, even bringing my young family here, I feel extremely disrespected by being placed in subpar care. Goodbye Dental Salon. read more

I once loved this dental facility. I was unable to leave a review on their site for some reason. So I am here and very disappointed. One fact is that the staff is always changing, which is not comfortable. I have recently noticed a decline in good care : poor cleaning, a major molar pulled out unnecessarily, and most recently, very clumsy professionalism that resulted in a deep cut to my face. When I left feedback, the owner representative did not even attempt to address that accident. Now I am fearful of ever returning or trusting them. Also they are NOT recommended by the Better Business Burreau, probably for a good reason. It's so sad that now I may need to find a proper facility I can truly trust. I don't understand why no reviews can be entered on their site anymore. That's not normal. I cannot recommend them anymore. read more

I went in for a cleaning and was told I needed to return for fillings. I never asked for fillings but followed their guidance as I thought they had my best interests in mind. On the day of the fillings, they did fillings in three areas of my mouth with no break or offer for a break; thus my mouth was open for a very long time. After this one session, my jaw was very sore and I lost my full range of motion. When it had been painful for more than a week, I was told by another caregiver elsewhere that they had dislocated a disc in my jaw, impacting my jaw function. When I returned to this location to be examined they gave me pain meds and sent me on my way. When I wrote to the facility to complain they claimed the pain was due to my tooth decay impacting my nerves. That's absolutely incorrect. I have had nerve pain and this is not that. The lack of care shown is really upsetting. I am deeply disappointed by this response which challenges my own experience. I am never going back to this "salon" and recommend that if you ever go there for fillings to please have them do one side at a time (different sides on different visits) and give you breaks. read more

My employer recently changed health & dental insurance providers. I stuck with the EPO option, in order to save some $$$. Unfortunately, in spite of what their searches say (on the provider's website), most dental practices in Chicago (downtown) refuse to take anything BUT PPO plans. However, on the 9th call, I found Dental Salon (North Ave branch). Rebecca was most kind, took my info, and called me back to tell me that they take my insurance! So, I went this past Wednesday and I was floored by the professionalism of Levi, Ruthie, and Dr. Johnson. They were the nicest people ever! Very skilled at what they were doing, too. I never (unlike the previous dental practice I used closer to home that took my previous coverage) felt pressurized to accept a referral for the Periodondist, accept a pricey deep clean, buy an expensive electric toothbrush, etc. I'm definitely going back for a Periodontist consultation (they told me upfront the consultation fee, too) next month. I am so glad I stumbled upon Dental Salon, even if it involves riding the CTA Red Line train. LOL. ;-) I recommend this place. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! scheduled my appointment online for a 60 minute exam and cleaning. there is an option to add reason for visit. I clearly stated that I chipped my tooth and needed it fixed. cleaning and polishing was fine. Dentist was RIDICULOUS!!! She came in the room and asked me if I was having any issues. I told her about my chipped front tooth and she proceeded to tell me that it's not worth getting it fixed with the plaster since it'll just happen again. I let her know that I have insurance and or will pay out of pocket. She pulled down her mask and was showing me her teeth and how she doesn't bother with chips anymore (for herself) because she rips things open with her mouth........ UM, don't really care about your teeth lady, just fix mine. she left the room and I waited another 10 minutes for the receptionist to tell me that I cannot have it fixed at this time, rather make another appointment to come back. I showed her how I was able to specifically give my reason for the visit on the form. Nope, still my problem. spoke with the manager so I wouldn't be charged for an exam since the dentist didn't even look at my teeth. Also asked why I wasn't notified BEFORE this appointment that nothing could be done today. whats the point of including the TEASON for the visit if no one is going to look over the schedule????? Again, my problem. Seriously folks, save yourself and choose a different dental office. I have noticed that it seems like a revolving door regarding staff (mainly dentists). First, you're trying to distract from the other aspects of my review (which are easily vérifiable based on my chart, which you clearly have access to) by reducing all of my issues to the most recent one. Perhaps instead of getting overly defensive and providing snarky replies, your time would be better spent actually addressing the issues that keep coming up in recent reviews. Secondly, 78 dollars may not be a lot of money for you but for a grad student who is completely financially independent, that's a week of food. But it makes a lot of sense that you don't seem to understand that. read more
