I can see why Dr. Yeung has five stars on Yelp, and they're truly deserved. I came here for the dreaded root canal re-treatment a.k.a. redoing the entire root canal in my case. The original root canal had a good run since middle school, but it has sadly reached the end of its useful life. ;( All this could have been avoided had I not eaten that jawbreaker in middle school. Let that be a lesson learned. When you first walk into Dr. Yeung's office, you'll stumble into a nice waiting room with modern decor and furniture that places you at ease. It doesn't feel like a dental office, but perhaps that's the intention (to make you feel like you're entering a spa). There's also a floor space heater in the winter! Jasmine at the front desk is very friendly and professional. It's a pleasure scheduling appointments and working out payment details with her. As for Dr. Yeung, she's my favorite endodontist. Dr. Yeung and her team are incredible. The thought of any sort of dentist makes me cringe. I've had terrible experiences throughout my childhood, and that, combined with bad insurance and having genetically cavity-prone teeth makes me want to scream and run. So when my general dentist (who is fabulous and is slowly easing my fears about going to the dentist) referred me to an endodontist because a root canal I had gotten when I was 10 had gone bad, my blood ran cold. But he told me, get it done now before it hurts...because when it starts to hurt it will be extremely painful. So I had my retreatment done with Dr Yeung. Every member of the team was amazing- they were so friendly and put up with me being a baby. They tucked me in with a nice warm blanket before the procedure because the office gets cold. They made sure spit from my wide open and numb mouth didn't drip into my neck. To Dr. Yeung herself- absolutely amazing. She is not only caring and compassionate, but clearly an expert. When the X-ray sensor holders they put in your mouth in the far back made me gag, she held the sensor herself. I had a very long and complicated procedure, but I never felt any of the numbing shots, and she constantly paused to make sure I was doing okay. She also explained to me what she was doing and how she was doing it during my procedure. I told her beforehand that I like to know what is happening because it helps me feel more in control. If you need a root canal, please go to Dr. Yeung. She is just amazing. My dentist suspected I needed a root canal on a Thursday, but had me take ibuprofen for a few days to see if that helped. If that didn't help, I would go see an Endodontist and get a consultation. On Friday night and Saturday morning, my tooth acted up and I was in so much pain, I decided to just call an endodontist right away. My brother and cousin has had a root canal with Dr. Yeung before, so I just choose her and left her a message on the office phone. Within a few hours, she called me right back and we chatted for a good 15-20 minutes about the pain, the meds she's going to have me take, and what the next steps are going to be. BTW, Dr. Yeung was calling me from her personal cell phone and she let me know if I have any questions or any assistance, to not hesitate, and call her on her personal cell phone. The following day, Dr. Yeung called me just to check up on me! I can only say, wow. Dr. Yeung genuinely cares about her patients, and that's one of the best qualities about having her as your endodontist. I went to see her the following Monday when she confirmed I needed a root canal. I also got the procedure performed on me on the spot. I am absolutely terrified of dental work. When I went to my dentist for the first time in many years I began to dry heave and break out into hives. Yeah, I've got issues. My dentist recommended I go to Dr. Yeung for 2-4 root canals, depending on her opinion. She did a bunch of tests, took some XRays, and determined I would need three (woo hoo!). I got my first root canal with her the same day of the consultation. I was able to listen to headphones and she and her assistant were so gracious and they calmed me (as much as they could) the entire time. She made sure I experienced as little pain as possible, and to be honest it was barely painful at all. That's a good thing, since I get to go back tomorrow for the other two! Dr. Yeung and her entire staff are nothing short of amazing. She even prescribed me an anti-anxiety medication for my next round of root canals so I hopefully wont be nearly as much of a wreck as I was last time. Her receptionist is very helpful as well, and she didn't seem rushed or apathetic at all as many medical receptionists do. I was referred to Dr. Yeung by my regular dentist (Dr. Santucci - who is amazing as well btw!). I had been having pain in a front tooth that had previously done root canal. I saw Dr. Yeung in hopes that all I needed was the root canal to be re-done. Unfortunately that was not the case and I ended up having to get oral surgery to see if it the root was fractured or if she could save the tooth. Dr. Yeung is wonderful! The surgery ultimately did not work; however, she was extremely gentle and even called me on a SATURDAY (the day after the surgery) from her PERSONAL cell phone to make sure I was doing okay. She truly cares about her patients and never rushed any of our appointments. She answered all of my questions (and I had a lot lol). She did not push me into any unnecessary procedures nor did she try to influence my decision on what I should do with the tooth (due to the uncertainty of the situation). Her staff are very, very nice too. The office is a comfortable setting and everything is very modern (electronic xrays, tvs, etc). Even though I live on the North Side, the travel to the west side is well worth it to see her. I cannot say enough great things about her!! read more

Let me start by saying all of the great reviews about Dr. Yeung are accurate. I called at 4:00 Monday to see if they had an opening asap. They were able to get me in first thing Tuesday. I came in early for my 10:00 appointment due to the extreme pain I was having. I arrived at 9:30 to hopefully be seen as quickly as possible. Office staff was very friendly, got me started on paperwork and I was in the chair by 9:45. Dr. Yeung took a minute to throughly explain my situation and told me I had a cracked tooth. She said she would do her best to save it but if the crack was too deep I was looking at an implant. I was worried, but we got started. She took her time but worked quickly. It was the most pain free dental visit I have ever had, including cleanings. She performed the root canal and took several X-rays along the way to ensure her job was done well. In the end she saved the tooth and explained again the possible problems I may face later due to the crack. She said I would have a lot of pain for a day or three but the first round of pain meds have worn off and I feel fine. Of course, nothing was as bad as the original toothache. I'm very happy and would recommend her to everyone. Very straight shooter, no up selling or BS, just a great dentist with the time to explain things to a worried patient. 6 stars if I could. My dentist recommended Dr. Yeung when it was determined that I needed a root canal. He said that she was the best and I trust his opinion. I also did check reviews on her and found them all positive. I definitely agree with everything that folks have already said. Dr. Yeung and her staff are extremely professional and really made this such a positive experience. Before the procedure, I was given an explanation of what to expect and as the work was being done, I was constantly told what was going on. A few things that seem rather minor but I thought were fantastic: I was told that if I should get cold, that they have a blanket available. As she worked, Dr. Yeung would continually apply Vaseline to my lips... that little detail is brilliant! During the procedure, a rubber wedge was placed on the other side of my mouth for me to bite on and allow me to comfortably keep my mouth open for the long period of time. I received a follow-up call the day after the procedure AND when I had to call a few days later to ask a question (unrelated to the root canal), I was asked if everything was okay. A friend of mine had raved about Dr. Yeung so I forfeited my in-network recommendation to go to her for a root canal last week. No only was Dr.Yeung very informative but she has all the latest technology and education. She received a scholarship from the Navy for dental school and despite being in the Navy, she is patient, soft-spoken and kind. She explains things before and while she does them in a way that you will understand as well and takes a lot of pride in her work. I had a badly inflamed root so she mentioned that I would be in some pain for a while after the procedure. She even called the next day to go over everything again and check on my pain levels. I was 100% fine the entire time, no pain at all! I hope to not have to go back anytime soon but I will absolutely recommend her to everyone I know who needs a good endo. I made it to the age of 37 without having a root canal, but days after getting a temporary crown put on my very back lower tooth, it started aching really badly and I knew something was wrong, so my dentist referred me to Dr. Yeung. She was absolutely amazing. She got me in the same day, explained everything so well, was so cool, confident, and reassuring throughout the entire procedure. I just came to Yelp to write her a glowing review, and noticed that I'm not alone! Many others have had the same wonderful experience. But the truth is that I literally didn't even need the Motrin she prescribed to me for pain after the procedure. I can't even begin to describe the amazingness of Dr. Yeung. Long story short, I came into her office off a referral from my regular dentist to look at my horribly aching tooth. She was able to see me same day, which was excellent. I came into the office looking and feeling less than pathetic. She took her time testing my tooth and determined at about 5:30pm that I needed a root canal. Both she AND her staff stayed late to do it right away. I found Dr. Yeung after doing a Yelp search and carefully reading through many of the reviews and I'm certainly glad I did! This was my first root canal and after hearing stories of horror from family and friends, I was leery about the procedure but I was in so much pain, I was highly motivated to get it resolved. Her receptionist made an emergency appointment two hours after I called her and I was immediately impressed upon walking into the brand new, meticulously arranged lobby and office. She uses all new equipment, including a digital x-ray machine which produces immediate results that she puts up on a large LCD monitor on the wall for you to see along with her. Her receptionist (a young Asian woman) and assistant (a young European woman) were extremely courteous and professional. And of course, Dr. Yeung herself is an Asian woman and was meticulous and detailed in her explanations of what she thought was going on with my pain, and what she was going to do. She explained every step of what she was doing before she did it. I literally felt almost no pain except for very brief moments and very minor, from the very first Novocain injection through to putting in a temporary filling on the tooth where she did the root canal. As a matter of fact, she said to raise my left hand if I ever felt pain and she would give me more medicine. I never actually had to raise my hand because if I flinched, even a minor flinch, she immediately stopped what she was doing and gave me more medicine before continuing. She beat me to raising my hand every time. If she knew there was a chance I would feel more pain based on what she was doing, she would mention it BEFORE she started doing the procedure. Honestly, at some point, I think I actually started to fall asleep during the procedure! After the procedure when the Novocain wore off, I literally felt NO PAIN whatsoever, a long as I didn't bite down directly on the tooth she did the root canal on, but she told me not to eat on that side of my mouth anyway until I can have the tooth examined by my regular dentist and the temporary filling in my existing crown replaced with a permanent filling. Although she wasn't inexpensive and I was paying out-of-pocket, it's was worth every dollar to me. So being a root canal virgin, she was the ideal endodontist you might say. :) read more

Amazing!!! Wish she did more than just root canals! My dentist tried to suggest he could do this procedure but after asking a few friends I was told to go strait to an endodontist. Thank god I listened because my tooth ended up being pretty bad. I was SO NERVOUS but honestly only felt a bit of discomfort and was quickly always given more numbing agent. After about four hours the numbing had completely worn off and I took the prescribed medication. It did feel tender but no throbbing or anything horrible at all! I cannot believe how amazing my experience with Dr. Yeung and her staff was. My tooth became sensitive to cold/hot fluid/food and I saw my dentist who said I need a root canal urgently. It needed to be done before I headed out of town. I called her office and explained the situation, and she and her staff were kind enough to stay late to perform the root canal. This was also my first root canal. I expected because I was coming in after hours there might be a little annoyance (who likes working late, on a Friday never the less), but nope! She was kind, explained EVERYTHING and answered any question I had. She did the procedure quickly and I only once felt a little pain (she quickly numbed it up after I raised my hand). Her and her staff did it all with smiles on their faces and cared about my comfort. The whole thing was less painful then a cavity. I will preface my review with an admission that I am a pathetic, sniveling, anxiety-riddled wuss when it comes to going to the dentist (but otherwise I am a Paul Bunyanesque fearless rock of a man). Having forgone check-ups for 2 years, my wandering tongue eventually spotted a loose filling. One morning when I woke up, my wandering tongue discovered that same filling had gone missing during the night and left in its place what felt like a mini-Grand Canyon and an accompanying sensitive (to say the least) spot. I went to my dentist hoping for a simple replacement of the filling, but to my extreme dismay (actually displeasure, I have no right to be dismayed by the logical eventuality of my dental inattentiveness) I was informed that I would be treated to my first root canal. Knowing what a wuss I am, he prescribed a Xanax for me and referred me to Dr. Yeung, saying that he was doing so specifically because of her treatment of anxious patients. I could not have been more pleased with Dr. Yeung. While the Xanax did not a damn thing, Dr. Yeung gave me the best experience I have ever had with any doctor. She was very willing to answer any questions, she explained every step of the process, and throughout the procedure she was extremely gentle. Most of my fillings were far more unpleasant. The thing that most impressed me was my sense of the pride and care that Dr. Yeung took in her work. She really seemed to have very high standards for herself and for the experience she wanted to give her patient. I got my root canal done at Dr.Yeung and she's amazing! I was petrified going in for the procedure since outside of regular cleanings, I haven't had to do much with my teeth. First of, her office was patient with me when I rescheduled my first appointment, bailed out on the rescheduled appointment and showed up late for the yet rescheduled appointment (Did I mention that I was scared?) Dr. Yeung's office is ultra modern and even has massaging seats, so I got a lower back massage the entire time I was getting my root canal. She was calm and reassuring about the procedure and gave me anesthesia every time I expressed even the slightest pain. I honestly did not feel much during the procedure. Afterwards, she provided me with detailed instructions for taking care of my tooth and what to expect. As other reviewers have mentionned, she called the next day (her day off) to find out if i was doing ok and provided me with her cell # to call if I had any issues.
