Run for your life. This man is in way over his head. They massively screwed up my life. Dr. Herman is a monster. He gave me two root canals/implants. I have never stopped being in constant pain, constant headaches, my eyes are riddled with floaters. It's just permanently screwed up my entire life. I've never been treated worse by a dentist, just on a personal level. Monster. To elaborate: I went back to Dr. Hermann NUMEROUS times because the fillings he did cracked. Later, I went in numerous times saying I was still in pain, he didn't care. He told me that it's normal to be in pain "sometimes for months" afterward. Just look at the 1-star Yelp reviews and see how many people this man has left in long-term pain. Had a filling done back in November by Dr. Soniya Vasanwala. It has now fallen out twice. The first time it fell out I called the office and was told only the original dentist that did the filling could see me so I would either need to wait for her next day in or I could see another doctor but would be charged. (I should have seen the red flag here). So finally get in to she Dr. V and she redoes filling. Here now a month later same thing happens. I have been thru so much poor service at this office and with Dr. V that I have decided to seek services elsewhere. As I am looking up my insurance details I see that the office submitted a claim for the filling repair!!! I was told multiple times there would be no charge because it was recently done. I'm not mentioning that I've experienced the most painful injection in my life by Dr. V. I quite literally jumped out the chair, as it felt like a hot poker went straight thru a nerve. Also this is not the only filling she has done that has fallen out. This is just one that has fallen out twice now in 3 months. I am utterly disgusted with this situation. I went in for an exam and extraction, and because of a dental phobia it was a long time (10+ years) since I last saw a dentist. When arrived for my first appointment, the receptionist was very kind, helpful, reassuring, and warm. A very elderly man walked in, and told the receptionist he was there for his root canal. The receptionist asked if he'd been taking his antibiotics, and they discovered that the prescription was written incorrectly for 2 pills instead of 3. The receptionist conferred with a dentist and confirmed the mistake. This was a big red flag to me, but I decided to continue with my visit. The dental hygienists, like the receptionists, were reassuring and very warm. They really put me at ease. When my dentist, Dr. Vasanwala entered the exam room, my impression of things definitely changed. She was VERY rushed, talked very quickly, and went right in with my procedure (first appointment was just a cleaning). It was fine, no probems at all- but when I had questions she was visibly annoyed and again clearly rushing. The extraction was totally fine, no problems. The follow up visit, Dr. Vasanwala was VERY rushed again. She was already getting up when I had to say "Wait, I have a few quick questions!" She was super rushed in her responses and again, pretty annoyed. I think Dr. Vasanwala needs to SLOW DOWN and take time to explain to patients their aftercare. Her demeanor seemed rushed rushed rushed, and I have the feeling all of the dentists there are catching up because of the Covid backlog. But you guys REALLY need to slow down, you're making mistakes!! Receptionists and hygienists, you rock and are shining stars of the facility. Unfortunately because of the dentists, I won't be returning. I wish I could bring the hygienists and receptionists along to my new dentist visit! read more

I had a terrifying experience at this dentist. I think the dental hygienist was new because she had no idea what she was doing, she was supposed to be taking x rays of my teeth but was shoving the device hard and aggressively into my mouth. I was crying and kept telling her I was in a lot of pain and she looked flustered and kept saying "yeah I know." When I left I had cuts and blisters all in the inside of my mouth. And when she left to get something the other DHs were gossiping behind her back about how terrible she was. Ok so stop gossiping and help her!! Then when I got my teeth cleaned, that went terribly too. I have a really thin tooth that I paid my my previous dentist to fill in, and she removed what my previous dentist filled in claiming it was supposed to look that way and it was filled in because of plaque...if it was plaque then why did I pay my previous dentist to fill it in??? I was pissed. Will never go back even though I live in the neighborhood and it's the closest dentist to me. Focus more on helping each other rather than gossiping please! read more

This place is a scam, stay far away! I asked for a basic cleaning and xrays, they charged me for extra xrays that were not medically needed. They also tried to charge me for a more intense cleaning since I had "minor plaque" build-up around my bottom teeth. When I got another opinion from another denist, that densit told me that my plaque build up was normal and would've been removed with a standard cleaning. I'm glad I left the appointment early, and did not pay the extra 200 they wanted to clean my teeth. read more

My experience here was terrific! They use super up to date technology here. The dentist was to the point, kind, and real. She told me exactly what was going on directly and made me feel safe and confident that if I needed something to change, that could happen. I had 4 cavities filled and it was painless. I was able to schedule quickly and easily, the front desk people were nice, and the waiting area was well maintained. Stay so far away. I just shelled out an extra $200 and have a numb face because apparently Dr. Hermann can't do fillings properly. The only two fillings I got done here (within the last year) had to be replaced because one didn't take care of the whole cavity and the other was so poorly contoured that it was sticking out and food kept getting caught. I had been a patient of Doctor Sonya for 2 years. We had a fine relationship when I was receiving regular dental care. (cleanings) However when I was in need of my first filling I had her do the work. It was not done correctly so I went back and she made the adjustments. I guess but it's still not right!!! A bit later we decided on a plan for my teeth to keep them looking their best specifically my "smile teeth" The 1st step was to have the teeth whitened. We did this procedure in the office in November 2022. It was not what I had expected and the results were minimal at best. 200.00 out of pocket and whitening strips would have given the same results. The 2nd step in our plan was to put fillings over the top of my 2 front teeth. This procedure was done on January 20th 2023. I can only say that she ruined my 2 front teeth. She did such a horrible job that I am now having another dentist correct her mistakes. She hurt my gums to the point that they are still puffy and bleeding. I could give you all the details of that day BUT after having my new dentist fix 1 of the teeth yesterday I know just have terribly I was treated and how inexperienced she actually is. She was mad that the fillings would not adhere to my teeth. Left the room multiple times in frustration. The teeth were shaped incorrectly and I did not even recognize myself when she was done with my teeth. DO NOT go to her for anything other then simple cleanings !!!!!!! I will end with what she said to me when I phoned her to address the poor work "I am sorry you feel this way about your experience in my chair" and that was it. One last thing, I have had 3 children and when Doctor Sonya gave me the novacaine injection it was like no other pain I have EVER experienced in my life. It was like a hot poker coming through my face and out my nose. I SCREAMED out in pain. This is not normal. She needs to stop practicing now. Stay Away!!!!! read more

I had a dental check up here the other day and unfortunately they don't have nitrous so I was pretty antsy and had a hard time sitting still. I get pretty anxious at the dentist sometimes and when I found out they didn't have nitrous it made me even more anxious. However, the staff did a great job distracting me and taking my mind off of it so it ended up not being all that bad. Unfortunately, I need two fillings done and because they don't have nitrous I won't be having them done at this dental group because I'd rather not be stressed out. If they had been able to actual utter six simple words "Sorry, we don't accept your insurance", these fools could have prevented me from wasting an hour of my day and a month of rescheduled dental care. They took my insurance info, said they ran it, and I got text messages confirming my visit but no information about my insurance not being accepted. When I show up they give me a really round about explanation about HMO's and how complicated the process is and this and that (Apparently, the letters on my plan mean it's an HMO, but I told them exactly what insurance I had when I first called them). I have to ask five clarifying questions to figure out that they just don't accept my insurance regardless of whether I'm willing to navigate a complicated process. Of course they say, before I leave, "well, we have a $75 special". No thanks. It turns out it was a ten minute process (including research and phone calls) and a 3 to 4 week wait to link with a reasonably well reviewed dentist in my area. In my opinion it's worth it to use the insurance I'm paying money for. But it would have been really nice if I could have started the process of navigating my "oh so complicated insurance" a month ago (which I would have done if they had just said "sorry, we don't accept your insurance" when I first called them). It's fine if you don't want to take affordable Managed Dental Care insurance at your practice, but don't use semi-passive misinformation to prevent us peasants who have it from using our benefits it the best way we can. read more

A day before my appointment they called asking to reschedule the time to ensure I get in fast and I was still waiting 20 minutes after my appointment time. They also list Guardian as a network insurance on their website, and when I initially called they clarified they were in network. Worst dental experience ever. i Came in for an exam complaining of pain and swelling of the gum above a certain molar. Dr Sonya found nothing and was leaving the room and I asked what about the tooth that is bothering me. She came back in the room and looked again and told me that it was the tooth next to the one bothering me and that it was an old root canal gone bad that would need to be redone or pulled. I went to two endontist s afterward who gave exams and confirmed that it in fact was the tooth bothering me and it needed a regular root canal. I had the root canal performed and have had no pain or swelling. Dr Sonya also told my daughter that she had 3 cavities and needed fillings. We were suspicious as she's never had a cavity. We opted to go back to my daughters longtime dentist who moved his office far away and he found zero cavities. I feel that unless it is fee generation for Dr Sonya then she isn't interested in your oral health. My daughter and I narrowly avoided unnecessary dental work so I would highly recommend avoiding this office or at least Dr Sonya!!! read more

I had an appointment for my son for over a month, the day before I was contacted by a rep from the facility informing me that the insurance was ineligible. After spending the whole morning contacting the insurance company to verify the insurance was eligible and getting a fax sent over to confirm it was eligible, Edgewater dental cancelled my appt. I Asked for a supervisor, the supervisor proceeded to say we have limited appts for people with your insurance and she said you seem mad and we don't want mad people at our facility so don't come. Nightmare . When it comes to simple procedures like cleanings and basic are like fillings, this is a good dentist to go to. But if you have major dental work like a root canal, extraction or otherwise, run for the hills. The staff talks to you very nicely but there follow thru and attention to detail is terrible. They never notified me my plan had fallen out of network until 2 claims in $800 later. I saw them in Jan 2023 and was told the tooth 31 needed to be extracted. I come in in April to have it done. The dentist said without even looking at the xray thoroughly, oh there is plenty of tooth there we can save it. I but its cracked below the gum line. She said oh. I didnt see that. I said to myself really? You are the professional not me. She extracted the tooth. I said to her did you get everything? That is my biggest concern. She looked straight in my eyes and said yes. Only for me to wake up on Saturday in extreme pain. I had also developed an ear infection so I called to get a penicillin RX. The dumb clerk at the front desk said, you haven't been in since Jan 23 so We can give you a prescription. I said what are you talking about? I was just in there last week. She said oh let me look at your chart. (AS if this clown was a dentist herself). Then said the doctor here does not feel comfortable with giving you a prescription. I was so angry and in pain. I had to go elsewhere for some bubble gum flavored Amoxicillen that only inexperienced dentists and doctors doesn't know how to prescribe. I cracked a tooth in early February and visited Edgewater Dental on 2/5/2021. They provided me with a temporary filling and an estimate repairs. Appointment felt very rushed and temporary filling fell out later at home. i called the office but No one returned my calls. My previous dentist quoted repair for $1500 cheaper than Edgewater dental and completed my root canal and installed the crown. Finallly, 3.5 months after temporary filling fell out, Edgewater Dental contacted me but only to bill for the visit for the filling that fell out. read more

My first experience there was very positive! Brand new office... desk staff was very friendly. I was able to check in briefly with any necessary information through a computer right at the front desk. Full mouth X-rays were done right away....
