After 18 mo of being a Northside patient, they've diagnosed 0 cavities and confirmed the "root canal worthy pain" was from poor tooth shaping from a cavity fill at dentology. I get regular X-rays with Northside Shout out to my hygienist Pam who is always kind, easy to talk to, lets me know what's going on, and makes the whole experience pleasant.

The cleanings are very thorough, yet gentle. I haven't gotten a single cavity since getting my cleanings done here. Dr. Sfikas is thorough with his check up post-cleanings to make sure I don't have any other oral issues or possible related pain from my sinuses, throat and ears. Sfikas team also doesn't try to push any extra services or products that are not covered by insurance like some dental offices do. The admin team is also very nice and great at sending reminders of appointments. There were a couple of times I needed a cleaning moved up ASAP at the last minute due to travel commitments and they always some how managed to squeeze me in. When Sfikas was no longer in network with my insurance, the admin took care of me to make sure I was not financially worse off. I had a family member that needed an emergency tooth extraction over the holidays and after calling around over 10 dentist offices in the neighborhood, only Dr. Sfikas' office called me back to squeeze my relative in the very next day during his lunch hours! I was recently told I had two cavities after the appointment and should schedule fillings, though I have no pain or discomfort in either teeth. But what's more flabbergasting is that these concerns were not brought up during the live appointment or dentist exam. While these fillings could be services I need, the disjointed way it's handled leads me to question the authenticity and whether or not these are just money grabs. I will be pursing a second opinion and looking for a more traditional mom and pop dental office that I feel I can trust.

Something that has been difficult for me to find. Secondly, Dr. Gamalinda is an excellent dentist. He always explains in detail all of his procedures and I find that he is fairly priced as well. Dr. Henry Lotsof he's retired. So I chose this one for just a cleaning, I had already had X-rays and fillings done prior to coming there. But even with the cleaning they didn't seem to have the right tools for that. And when I was given X-rays it was very difficult, because again not the proper equipment to do it with. So I had to open my mouth wide enough for a cellphone to be used to take pictures of my teeth, atleast 20 pictures done that way. I had already then made the decision to NOT return there and I cancelled the upcoming appointment made for me. To discuss a hella lot of extra work he said that I needed done. I had went to him many years ago, to have a partial done. It was a bad experience for me. And on top of all that, as he did even more than he should've done. My insurance won't pay for anything over the cleaning and I was told by my insurance provider that he know what was covered. So they're only paying for the cleaning. Which will leave me with a cost. I was told he knew. So I just add it up to him being a thirsty / greedy dentist. That's all. He needs to invest in updated equipment. She's highly intelligent and personable, and she made the visit so fun and motivating for my kids. She let them get comfortable with all of the equipment and patiently described every step of the process. She invited my 9 year old to assist her a bit with the 5 year old's cleaning. The kids were completely involved and consulted the whole time even as she was clearly giving them a thorough cleaning. They immediately loved her and absorbed all of her advice. They now diligently brush for 2 minutes and include their tongues and gum lines "because Dr. Rita taught us to." This is after years of barely getting them to sit still for 45 seconds of teeth brushing. They asked when they could go back and see Dr. Rita. I know this probably sounds too good to be true but I whole heartedly recommend this dental practice and we will be coming back as long as she's working. Plus the office is in the historic pink building which lends itself even more to the old fashioned mom & pop experience.

I am a person who would previously would have told you that I absolutely hate the dentist... that is until I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Rita. I truly wish I would have taken "before" photos of my teeth so you could see the significant difference Dr. Rita has made in my life. She has literally improved the quality of my life with her dental work. If you are terrified of the dentist, then Dr. Rita is 100% your gal. For years my husband told me to reach out to Dr. Rita and see her -- I declined. I waited until I was FINALLY ready and made the jump. Less than a week later I had a dental emergency. Dr. Rita was quick to help out even though I hadn't even met her yet. I sent her photos of my tooth and she referred to an amazing endodontic office who also helped. Dr. Rita talked to me about options for my anxiety prior to our first meeting. She helped me by allowing the option for my husband to be there if I needed him after his apt. However, after the first meeting and our general discussion/treatment plan, I felt significantly more at ease. We came up with a plan to tackle my horrendous teeth that has been significantly neglected and at first I was nervous, but after the first meeting and the first time she actually worked on my teeth, I haven't looked back! Dr. Rita has always kept my comfort in mind. She always asks me how I'm doing, if I'm okay, and always praises me when I do well. It is such a relief having her in my corner. She and I made regular appointments and at one time I saw her a few times a week or at least once a week to fix my teeth. I can now smile and not be self conscious. I text again and she says they haven't heard back from insurance. I did research on dental clinics that were kind for uh... less diligent brushers and landed on Broadway Dental. I live nearby and was interested in how updated everything seemed. I called in November and wasn't able to get an appointment until the end of January. I'm glad I decided to wait instead of looking elsewhere. The office sent out my intake paperwork in advance so I was able to complete it online and be ready to go when the time came. The front desk staff was very friendly and the waiting room comfortable. No Highlights magazines here! I didn't have to wait long and was called back to work with the hygienist. We took all the x-rays and they were not as uncomfortable as they normally are--I think it's helpful that they have a more advanced x-ray machine that does your whole mouth so you don't need as many images where you have to hold the square thing between your teeth that makes you gag. The hygienist (I'm sorry I forget your name!) was *so* thorough and as I hoped for non-judgmental. The cleaning felt better than ones I'd gotten in the past. She walked me through my x-rays, showing where I would need some work. Dr. Wilfinger was also very kind and encouraging, and explained in detail about how my replacement fillings would go. Also: they have TVs angled just so above the exam chairs so you can watch Netflix while you get your gums poked. It helps take your mind off all the metal tools and your saw jaw. Highly recommend!
