Had such a great experience at this office. Dr. Trambas has an eye for perfection and my tooth is definitely the perfect size.

Horrible dentist. Takes more patients than he can properly serve. Was rushing the cleaning and was super aggressive.

It'd been a while since I last visited the dentist thanks to a gap in dental insurance coverage,…read moreand I was nervous about going and getting scolded for not having perfect teeth. I did research on dental clinics that were kind for uh... less diligent brushers and landed on Broadway Dental. I live nearby and was interested in how updated everything seemed. I called in November and wasn't able to get an appointment until the end of January. I'm glad I decided to wait instead of looking elsewhere. The office sent out my intake paperwork in advance so I was able to complete it online and be ready to go when the time came. The front desk staff was very friendly and the waiting room comfortable. No Highlights magazines here! I didn't have to wait long and was called back to work with the hygienist. We took all the x-rays and they were not as uncomfortable as they normally are--I think it's helpful that they have a more advanced x-ray machine that does your whole mouth so you don't need as many images where you have to hold the square thing between your teeth that makes you gag. The hygienist (I'm sorry I forget your name!) was *so* thorough and as I hoped for non-judgmental. The cleaning felt better than ones I'd gotten in the past. She walked me through my x-rays, showing where I would need some work. Dr. Wilfinger was also very kind and encouraging, and explained in detail about how my replacement fillings would go. Also: they have TVs angled just so above the exam chairs so you can watch Netflix while you get your gums poked. It helps take your mind off all the metal tools and your saw jaw. Highly recommend!

The cleanings are very thorough, yet gentle. I haven't gotten a single cavity since getting my cleanings done here. Dr. Sfikas is thorough with his check up post-cleanings to make sure I don't have any other oral issues or possible related pain from my sinuses, throat and ears. Sfikas team also doesn't try to push any extra services or products that are not covered by insurance like some dental offices do. The admin team is also very nice and great at sending reminders of appointments. There were a couple of times I needed a cleaning moved up ASAP at the last minute due to travel commitments and they always some how managed to squeeze me in. When Sfikas was no longer in network with my insurance, the admin took care of me to make sure I was not financially worse off. I had a family member that needed an emergency tooth extraction over the holidays and after calling around over 10 dentist offices in the neighborhood, only Dr. Sfikas' office called me back to squeeze my relative in the very next day during his lunch hours! My relative didn't speak any English, but Sfikas and his whole team were very patient and gentle with her. Thank you so much and I hope you never retire!

I feel like Dr. Sfikas really takes time to listen to any concerns you may have, answer any questions and really explain why he needs to do something or what is going on. He never seems to try to get you to do needless procedures. He's kind and thorough. His staff are all great as well--from the hygienists to the front desk staff. The office is definitely not as high tech or fancy as a lot of dental offices seem to be these days, but I never doubt the cleanliness or care I'm receiving. Bonus, free validated parking in garage at The Breakers. Highly recommend if you're looking for a new dentist!

So many good things here:…read more - it's easy to schedule and be seen regularly - insurance issues are handled promptly (if it even happens) - Dr is kind, open, and feels like they're on your side. Both Drs I've seen have been EXCELLENT - no pushy sales on cosmetic procedures - gentle handed hygienists Seriously, I've been here for 3 different 6mo cleanings and it's been excellent each time. Takes approx 1 hour. Before Northside I went to dentology west loop where they "found" 2 cavities on my first visit then told me I needed a root canal. After 18 mo of being a Northside patient, they've diagnosed 0 cavities and confirmed the "root canal worthy pain" was from poor tooth shaping from a cavity fill at dentology. I get regular X-rays with Northside Shout out to my hygienist Pam who is always kind, easy to talk to, lets me know what's going on, and makes the whole experience pleasant.

It's kinda gross to see a strangers face a few inches from yours and be able to see clear up her nostrils. I'll come back, but hope they improve hygiene practices.

TL/DR: Look elsewhere if you want a dentist who isn't dismissive of your pain and believes you when…read moreyou tell them of previous experiences. I have been coming here for about 5 years. Cleanings have been fine, and I have gotten three fillings taken care of here. The first two were with Dr. Hagan. The one I got today was with a new dentist, I believe his name is Dr. Shah (I'm not positive of the spelling.) I have weird teeth. Other dentists have commented that I have long tooth roots and long nerves, and nerves that connect to each other in weird places. This means that over the years I have been able to feel a drill when I "shouldn't" be able to. This happened with my first filling appointment with Dr. Hagan. When I felt the pain he stopped and was apologetic. He left and took another look at my chart and x-rays, and confirmed that I have what he called a rare "extra" nerve that needed to be numbed in a different place. He numbed it, waited longer than usual, and continued. Everything was fine. At my next filling years later, I reminded him of what happened the last time. He confirmed that he had already seen his note in my chart and that he would give me the extra numbing shots and wait longer for them to kick in. There were no problems that time. Today I had a filling with the new dentist. I told him about my history and that I usually needed extra numbing and more time. I said that another dentist here had made a note of it and asked if he saw it. He was dismissive, saying something to the effect of "I'm very good at this/I've done this a lot". He didn't mention whether he had seen the note in my chart. I was not trying to infer that he isn't a good dentist, I was just telling him about my history. He assured me that the numbing would work fast. He then started drilling, which I fully felt. I cried out in pain and raised my hand and he stopped. He seemed shocked that I could feel it. (Like I said, I am aware that my teeth are unusual, but I told him about it to *prevent this from happening*. And I assumed he would have seen Dr. Hagan's note in my chart.) I was crying at this point. He said sorry and gave me another shot and waited a while. When he started drilling again everything was fine. He then had to stop and leave the room for about 15-20 minutes for what seemed like an emergency with another patient. Fine, that is not something he can control. But when he came back I could feel the drill again after a while. Again he seemed surprised and skeptical, but numbed me more before continuing, and finished the filling. I will not be returning to this office after this appointment. I am not exaggerating when I say it was traumatic. It is horrible to feel a drill going into your tooth. It is extremely frustrating to be dismissed and treated like you're being dramatic or lying about pain. I have no reason to make up the fact that I am not numb enough. I don't want to feel a drill. I just want the filling to be over with. I don't care how "good" you are or how many fillings you have done. A patient is an expert when it comes to their own body and their own past experiences. And medical professionals should listen to their patients. The dentist apologized at the end of my appointment, but the damage had been done, and if he had read my chart before my appointment, or taken me seriously at the beginning of my appointment, this wouldn't have happened and no apology would have been necessary.
