I can't say enough how much I appreciate Dr. Trambas and his awesome staff. They have been wonderful. Being disabled, my health can vary unpredictably from one day to the next. Last month I was suddenly ill and unable to make an appointment I had for later that day. When I called them they could not have been kinder, nor more understanding despite just a few hours' notice. We rescheduled easily. They have also been miraculous in guiding me through the labyrinth of dental insurance rules and maximizing my benefits. I always leave their office feeling appreciated and well cared for. I would consider it a great loss if I ever had to find another dentist. read more

If you're looking for compassion, you have come to the wrong place. I started seeing Dr. Trambas as my primary care dentist because I lived close to his dental practice. He did nothing crazy, just regular cleanings. He recommended me to an orthodontist. I started seeing that orthodontist, and for my procedure, I needed to have a couple of my teeth extracted by Dr Trambas. It was my first experience so I was nervous, as any human would be when teeth are about to be yanked from their mouth. It was a horrible experience, but it doesn't come clear how I felt two weeks ago when I went back for another extraction. Anyway, so the first time was rough; he injected some Novocaine, using a needle, into my gums, but no matter how much he gave me, I still felt incredible pain, and he was telling me about how I needed to know the difference between pressure and pain. I'm a woman who menstruates every month; I know what pain is. It was pain, but apparently, he couldn't give me any more because I maxed out my dose. That was unpleasant. Anyway, I had to endure the pain, and from everyone's experience, they felt nothing, so I was wondering why I was feeling something. Anyway, we were supposed to take out four that day, but we couldn't because I finally had maxed out my dose of anesthesia. So I went back for the second side, and I was scared just because the first experience was terrible for me. I was sitting in the chair he walked in. He asked me how I was feeling, and I told him, I don't want to be here, I'm scared. And this man responded: "Well if you don't want to be here, you can go to McDonald's for half an hour and just drink some coffee." I was wondering, why on earth would you say that to me? I'm scared because my last experience was terrible, and that's what you said to me. I'm like, that was such a stupid thing to say. Anyway, and then he proceeded to say, "Oh, you just need to change your attitude and behavior. The last one went well, but the issue was the person in the chair". That actually made the entire experience worse for me. In what world is having teeth pulled out a pleasant experience? So telling me to change my behavior, I'm like, come on now, be serious. Like how are these the things you're saying to me? Like what did I do to deserve this lack of empathy, lack of consideration, just zero humanity? Anyway, it also went terribly, very terribly. I was in a lot of pain. The teeth would not come out; he was hanking harder and harder and harder, and this man had me manually leave my mouth open. My past dentist usually put something in my mouth so I didn't have to keep opening my mouth by myself. While this man was yanking teeth from my mouth, he also made me open my mouth. I kept my mouth open; it was a terrible experience. It was a terrible experience; I was in so much pain I was crying; he asked me to raise my left hand if I felt pain; I raised my left hand, and it didn't make a difference. At some point, I had to yank myself away from him because I needed a minute; my jaw was on fire. I'm like, what is the end of the anesthesia? I'm still feeling everything; I felt everything. When this man was done pulling out all my teeth, he tapped me to let me know he was done, and he walked out of the room; this man did not say a word to me, this man did not ask me if I was okay, this man did not say "oh ice your face," this man didn't, nothing, he said nothing to me, and oh God, I was in shock, I was in shock, I'm like is this how medical professionals are supposed to behave? I know these people care nothing for the pain of Black people, but I was so in shock that I went into a full-on panic attack. He saw me crying, and he ignored me completely. His dental assistant, who all she did was stand by and putting that device in my mouth to suck out the saliva, said nothing either. She saw me cry, and she didn't say anything. She just said oh, remember to take your stuff. That is the kind of treatment at this dental office: zero compassion, zero humanity. So, to treat me that way, like I offended you by being here, was the coldest treatment I've ever experienced. If you're looking for a dentist who cares, don't go here. I also had to report this to my insurance because it was a terrible experience. There must be a way to report that to the dental board or something. read more

I went to Dr.Trambas after dealing with several dentist who made my dental issues worse. I had severe dental issues due to a medical issue & meeting Dr.Trambas was a godsend. I moved & travel 45min to see him because he is that great . He is truly skilled in what he does & loves it, and it shows in how he treats his patients, in the effort he takes to give you the best results. It's not often you can say you enjoy seeing your dentist, but he's always in a great mood & makes your visits anxiety free. He went out of his way to care about what I wanted, and listened to me. The office is always clean, the woman who work there are all great. Truly, the best dentist I've had the pleasure of meeting & would recommend him to anyone. THE WORST OFFICE EVER! I had cracked a tooth and called the office for an appointment. I expressed my pain as well as indicated I was pregnant and nervous about an infection. The doctor wouldn't even see me! He was too busy with a "meeting" and didn't even ask which other day I could come in. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! My first visit to this office was 3-4 years ago under a DMO plan. This visit was under an MCO( Im in a medical program fulltime and therefore not working). My first visit was brief. 15mins. I thought i was "lucky" until i spoke to several dental professionals who said this was completely inappropriate care and a cleaning should never be that short! On average a basic cleaning should be between 45-60mins. Shortly after, i went to an HONEST dental office with DENTAL HYGIENIST who took their time with a thorough exam and cleaning. Years later, i gave Trambas another shot after receiving subpar treatment at Brite Dental on Clark (that dentist was cold and within 2 mins of viewing my xrays, he discovered i needed a deep cleaning. I argued that i did not. Low and behold, their office sent xrays to my MCO and it was declined because there was no evidence of bone loss or need for deep cleaning) With an MCO, they can bill $600-800 for a deep cleaning vs. less than $150 for a regular cleaning--even when you dont need it! Medicaid fraud at its finest! Anyhow, so I arrived at this appointment, equipped with medical knowledge. I was told they would not do X-rays because "they could not bill it to my insurance and Id had one 5 mos prior (with Brite Dental). Then i was told "the doctor may or may not do your exam because it cant be billed to your insurance) BUT they'd proceed with cleaning. While i sat in the chair, they told me to call Brite Dental to have xrays emailed to their office. To no surprise they couldnt do it. So i waited 45 mins for Trambas. I heard him having a very animated and friendly conversation with an older woman just next to my exam room. So i expected that same energy! Sadly, he walked in and the only words spoken were "How are you doing today. And youre getting a cleaning, correct?" He proceeded to reposition my chair to begin--NO PATIENT ASSESSMENT WHATSOEVER! No review of my record, questions on my oral care, what brought me in today, pain or discomfort--NOTHING! When i thought he'd begin probing my mouth for the exam, he started cleaning!!! NO EXAM!!Fluid and debris was flying in my face, so when i asked for goggles this JOKE of a doctor placed a FACE MASK OVER MY EYES! He started at 1:18 and ended at 1:26. He swept over my teeth and polished all in 8 mins!! When he "finished" i told him it was a rush job, i didnt appreciate the lack of care, etc! His response "You mustve had great oral care so thats why it was short..." Me: "I havent had a cleaning in 2 yrs!" Him: "I thought you just had a dental appointment" Me: "Not a cleaning" Me: " i came to you before and you did this to me!" Him: "So whyd you come back" Me: " i really wanted to give it another shot" Him: " well, heres a mirror show me where your teeth arent cleaned" Me: " i cant see that with the naked eye, but i will go to a real dentist and bring back the evidence. Him: "I will not bill your insurance for any of this"...Me: "Go right ahead" I immediately filed a grievance with my MCO, because Id HATE for this HORRIBLE medical NEGLIGENCE to happen to anyone else. Let me also add, that it is of my honest opinion that my insurance, and perhaps age, race, and gender played a role in how he treated me. This type of treatment of subpar is well documented and the very reason I'm moving forward with reporting this to a regulatory organization. Beware and DO NOT ever let a DENTIST give you a short cleaning without an exam or xrays". I will move forward and file a formal complaint with IDPR read more

I arrived for a dental appointment this morning, but the receptionist was not wearing a mask. When she gestured to come close to her to fill out paperwork, I asked if she could put on a mask, since I was there with someone elderly, with a compromised immune system. The receptionist refused to put on a mask, and stated she never would because it causes her to have acne. She then asked us to sign a consent form that states "I hereby acknowledge and understand that there may be an increased risk of the COVID-18 may be transmitted in any place of public accommodation, which includes my dentist's office. I have been informed by my dentist of his desire to protect their patients, staff and the community at large. WE ARE TAKING EVERY PRECAUTION NECESSARY TO LIMIT THE EXPOSURE OF ANY VIRUS WITHIN OUR OFFICE." Apparently not. I will no longer refer any clients here. read more

The experience I had was unbelievably horrific. First, my appointment was at 4:00pm, and I was in the waiting room until 4:40pm. I've sat a long time in most of the dentist offices I have been to, so I wasn't extremely concerned (and the women at the front desk were very sweet about it, letting me know the room was being prepared). I get into my examination room, however, and the unsanitary practices I saw were very concerning. The hygienist performing my X-rays had her gloved fingers in my mouth to position the part, over and over, and then with her gloved hands, she puts the X-ray machine away (touching all over the machine, the cabinet, the light). Next, I wait for the dentist to come in to look over my X-rays and discuss them, and as he is about to come in, the same hygienist sighs that I am his final patient of the day. Instead of discussing my X-rays next, the two come into the room, the dentist doesn't look at the X-rays, but goes straight to aggressively flossing my teeth with the water-pick, paying no attention to how the suction straw was falling out of my mouth and water was collecting in my mouth. I had to fix the straw myself because he was so oblivious as he was talking with the hygienist about his and her Dunkin Donuts order the next day. After his quick and aggressive flossing, he asks the hygienist to "clean and polish" my teeth. The hygienist glides the brush across my teeth in SECONDS, and I am simply thinking she is just putting the toothpaste on (nothing I had experienced before but I've never been to hygienist school). I realized I was wrong, however, when she starts rinsing my teeth. She "cleaned" my teeth in less time than it takes me to actually brush my teeth, and then I was told to wait for the dentist to do another examination of my teeth. He came in, and in a few seconds, he was sitting my chair up and telling me I didn't have any cavities. I knew this wasn't true, as I had explained I saw black dots on my lower molars. He sat my chair back again, gave me a mirror, and told me to point out where I saw black dots. After I pointed to the spots I saw, he decided now that I had FOUR cavities. I had also mentioned a spot on my gums that concerned me, and he never addressed it or told me a solution. I came out of the room very uneasy and distrustful, as my teeth were not actually cleaned, my gums were never checked, my X-rays were never discussed or looked at, I was never checked for oral/tongue cancer, and my oral health was never discussed. After a quick walk, I realized, as his "last patient of the day", I was not given any actual cleaning or treatment, so I returned to the office. I explained to Dr. Trombas how many check-ups and procedures were not done in my appointment, my teeth were not cleaned, the conclusion on my cavities was mine and not his, future care suggestions were not given, and my concern about my gums was never addressed. He just responded saying, "your gum concern is just a little gingivitis. So, you don't want me to submit anything to insurance?" I was furious, as he never even mentioned I had gingivitis, nor did he give me any care/treatment tips for it, on top of it all. The dentist simply collects his money, and he does not care about the patients! I cannot encourage you enough to not go to Dr. Trombas for your dental care because he will take advantage of you and if you have any more serious dental concerns, he will put your health at risk (especially if he's ready to go home at the end of the day). read more

In all the years I've been seeing dentists (since I've sprouted teeth) I've never had a more aggressive, painful cleaning. I didn't have cavities or even especially dirty teeth as I'd had a cleaning less than 6 months before seeing him. Imagine 200+ lbs of grown man baring down on you with much force whilst going at your teeth and gums with humming, pointy instruments. When I spit into the sink after the cleaning, I was genuinely alarmed at the amount of blood I saw coating the sides and bottom of the sink: This is not usual or okay. Let me stress that I have absolutely ZERO aversion to the dentist. I was raised by a nurse practitioner who taught me to not be afraid of pain or doctors. So I have a very high pain threshold....and this hurt like hell. On my second and last visit (he repaired a cracked filling) I overheard him interacting with the patient next to me, belittling her, speaking to her like she was a child and just being downright rude because she couldn't afford to see a dentist for several years. Speaking of the cracked filling...yeah....NOT a good experience. As he was injecting my left jaw muscle with a huge needle (which I could hear SCRAPING along the bone) I was saying, "Dr. I'm feeling some anxiety..." He didn't even acknowledge me. In short, RUN DON'T WALK away from here. I suggest going directly across the street to Dr. Sfikas and his amazing staff. The best of the best. To drive my point home, I've never experienced a dentist who truly lived up to Steve Martins character in "Little Shop of Horrors"....You'll be a dentist You have a talent for causing things pain read more

Dr. Trambas did a great job with some crown work I had done. It fit perfectly around my tooth, there were no spaces where food and bacteria could get in (I've had that problem with another crown put int from a different dentist). So I'm pretty glad there. He had a very nice assistant to help him with the cleaning and crownwork. The waiting room is so-so, and I waited a little longer than expected - but whatever. Decent enough. read more

Horrible dentist. Takes more patients than he can properly serve. Was rushing the cleaning and was super aggressive.

(This review is in regards to his Edgewater office only) Dr. Trambas is personable, humorous, and has a very calming demeanor. He is thorough in explaining things in a relatable manner, and gets the job done quickly and efficiently. The only negative thing about him is that he seems to always be running late or behind. On almost every appointment I have had there over the last few years I would say that he was behind by at least 15-20 minutes on average. I understand things happen from time to time, but his disregard for scheduling appropriately seems to be habitual. But, he's jolly and pleasant so I keep putting up with it. Also, the assistant that works with Dr. Trambas in back, I believe her name is Tia (?) is always quick, caring, and appears to work very hard and appreciate her job. Kudos to her. If only her professionalism would rub off on her colleagues... ...Which brings me to why this is only a 3-star review. If my review were just for dr. Trambas and his assistant, I would have given another star. However, my review is for the entire experience I receive at the office, which is consistently tainted by the horrible experience with the receptionist, who's name I do not know, but I believe is the only one. For starters, I have never once seem her smile. That is not an exaggeration. Not ONCE. Which, for working in a dentist office, is a bit ironic. She seems to have ZERO personality, makes no attempts whatsoever to be welcoming, and has on several occasions been extremely condescending and rude. (i.e. when she tried to lecture me about the importance of showing up on time when I was 5 minutes late -of which I called to let them know as a courtesy- yet when I got there still had to wait over 10 minutes for the last patient to be finished up with. If you're not even ready for me, do NOT act like my slight tardiness contributed to your scheduling woes!) She need to realize (or better yet, Dr. Trambas, as her employer needs to realize) that she is the face of his business. She is the first impression people get of his office. So when she goes about her business with a miserable look on her face, treating patients like an imposition rather than a means to her paycheck, that translates to what people think they should expect from the entire office, which is not the case. Everyone else there is pleasant. She needs a course in professionalism, courteousness, and business maturity. Then, perhaps, going to see Dr. Trambas would be a 4-star experience. read more

THE BEST Chair-side Manner. Going to the dentist is never high on anyone's list as a fun way to spend an afternoon. However, Dr Trambas has the "best chairside manner" and always makes my appointment go so much better than I imagine. I usually psych myself out re the potential pain and avoid going till the last minute, but I am go glad I found a dentist that understands and does such a great job of helping me through whatever work I need done. In December went for my annual - wait-till-the-last-minute-checkup found out I needed a tooth pulled, I was sooo nervous. Dr. Trambas did an excellent job of talking me through it and explained how he would do everything possible so the pain would be minimized including allowing extra time for the numbing to be at full effect. It was over,TH before I knew it and no problem since. I thanked him for having the best chair-side manner of any dentist I had ever been to. read more

I used to avoid the dentist for years, but in the past two months, I've already visited this office four times, and I'm scheduled to come back in for a cleaning next week. I feel absolutely no anxiety when I'm visiting Dr. Trambas' dental office, which is shocking since the thought of going to the dentist used to keep me up all night in tears. I'm not too sure how Dr. Trambas and his staff are so amazing. I thought I'd need sedation in order to get over my fears, but I almost feel like I could get through a filling here with no Novocain at all, I'm completely at ease! These are the reasons why I believe what makes this dental office so wonderful to visit: Dr. Trambas is attentive, listens to your needs, very knowledgeable in regards to the latest dentistry tools and techniques. When I am given a shot I barely feel it, unlike previous experiences with past dentists. Dr. Trambas is very confident. It is obvious that he knows he can solve most dental problems quickly and easily. He had successfully saved a tooth that a previous well-known dentist had said was a complete goner. When Dr. Trambas found out that I was expecting that tooth to be extracted, he was shocked. I was amazed because what some dentists find impossible, he finds simple. Dr. Trambas is dedicated to giving his patients great service for an honest price. He is not motivated by money. He's motivated by a passion for helping others. Dr. Trambas and all the assistants and administrative staff members are so...cool. I could talk to everyone there for hours. You just want to befriend all of them! I've found myself hanging out to chat after a root canal. Who cares if half your face is numb! It's fun to be there! The office is very modern and comfortable and doesn't have that sickening dental smell! Finally, they take insurance, and the cost is so reasonable. You know you can trust everyone there, because they do whatever they can to work with you financially. Anyways, I'm telling everyone I know to visit this office. I have to agree with Ebru Y. I went to this dentist to get my teeth cleaned because of the location and he excepts my insurance. The waiting room is a little awkward since it is shared with other doctors. The receptionist and the lady who took the X-rays was very nice. The dentist was not very friendly. I get talkative when I get nervous and since it had been 14 years since I had been to a dentist, I was nervous. He barely spoke to me. He cleaned my teeth and was helpful in telling me how I didn't develop one of my wisdom teeth and that I still was cavity free and had a baby tooth. Also, I asked if they had any coloring books for the children I work with and they said they would call me when they got the things together. I never heard anything, but you better believe I will when my next check up is due. read more

After having really bad experiences with dentists and office personel I am really happy to have found Dr. Trambas.  To begin with his office staff is very welcoming, both, front desk and nurse very sweet.  Then came Dr. Trambas who greeted me with a big smile!  I was impressed with his caring.  He took a good time to explain to me, not only the findings after the XRays and treatment but showed me detailed illustrations explaining each one,  pros of taking action, and prognosis in 10 and 15 years if none taken.  Nobody before had taken the time to explain anything to me!  More over the previous one had quote me for 3 fillings that now I find didnt need!!!!  Lucky me I didnt like him or his staff reason for which I never returned.  This is the first time I get out of a dentist really happy.  I referred him to my daughter that has posponed for years to go to a dentist assuring her she will love him!!!!!  Thank you Dr. Trambas!  And congrats to your staff. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Trambas. The reception area is in need of a total overhaul (I wasn't impressed with the fold-away chairs) but the actual patient rooms were new, bright and very clean. The hygenist wore a mask and had a VERY heavy accent so I understood a total of 3 words from her. When Dr. Trambas came in he took the time to sit with me answer all my questions and create a plan of care that we both agreed on. He even showed me graphics while doing so (which helps those visual learners like me). No 5 stars cause of the location, I had to park 3 blocks away, the waiting area is lacking, and the receptionist seemed more occupied with her cell phone than anything else. read more

I really love Dr. Trambas. You can expect to wait a bit, but that's in part because he never turns anyone away. I heard a story where a man came to him on New Year's Eve after the office closed with tooth pain and he saw the patient even though the staff was gone. His office was even open on the Chicago days when the weather was forty below zero Fahrenheit. He also does his best to get to know each patient and his/her/their teeth and gum issues. I have had five or six dentists in my life, and none come close to the gentleness and kindness with which Dr. Trambas treats me and his other patients. Even when I know I've failed to be a good patient, he is encouraging and funny when reminding me of what I need to do to keep my teeth "stable." It seems like most of the low reviews are about how long it takes to be seen, to which I can honestly say, it's because he takes care with everyone and turns no one away. read more

I just had my first and last appointment with Dr. Trambas. First of all, the receptionist was unfriendly and very unhelpful. I explained to her that I had trouble finding a parking spot and she looked like she could care less. It wasn't until I specifically asked about parking that she thought to tell me they have a parking lot in the back that you can only reach from the alley. I have no idea why she didn't mention this when I called to set up my appointment since she knew I was a new patient. When I saw Dr. Trambas, he took one look at my X-rays and immediately started accusing me of eating too much candy. I found this to be not only absurd, but also offensive. I know I have issues with the enamel of my teeth. I know my X-rays will show that I've had more cavities than I can count. However, I don't think anyone, especially a medical professional, should start accusing someone of wrong doing without at least asking a few questions first. He continued to chastise me about eating too much candy, drinking too much soda, and consuming too much coffee with sugar in it for several minutes. He finally stopped only after I interrupted him and told him I did none of those things. I've had problems with a lack of teeth enamel for as long as I can remember. I'm also on a very strict diet which includes very little sugar. If he had only asked me first, he would have realized how inappropriate it was for him to accuse me of eating terribly. After this lecture, the doctor cleaned my teeth for about 5 minutes. Honestly, it felt very unthorough to me. I felt like he was rushing and barely even took a look at my teeth. Overall, I found the staff, especially Dr. Trambas, to be very unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend that anyone go there, especially if they've ever had any problems with their teeth in the past. read more

As we all know going to a dentist is a pain. In my case, it was crazier because I was losing my insurance as well. He initially said he needed 4 appointments, but when I mentioned my special request he managed to finish it up in 2 appointments and under a week. after not having insurance for 3-4 years i finally got a job that offered excellent medical and dental insurance to it's employees. my only problem is that my husband and i are not covered by the same insurance he has his own and i have mine. we like to see the same doctors since i take care of most of the important stuff like setting appointments and filing paperwork. but only a very few number of dentist take his insurance and his insurance does not cover very much for dental. so after days of calling dentist in the area, i remeber that there was a dentist in a small medical clint less than a block away from our apartment. i call and a nice lady told me that they take both of our insurance. my next delima was that i had to have an appointment on a monday, tuesday, or wednesday. she told me this was not a problem she could set us an appointment for either monday, wednesday or, friday because they had another office they were in during tuesday and thursday. they set an appointment on wednesday about three weeks later. we get to our appointment (at least 30 mins early) and there is a large crowd in the waiting room but this does not bother me there are at least three other doctor in the medical building. so as we wait it seems that all the people in there are for the dentist. our appointments are for 12 and 12:30 i don't get into the chair until 1:30 more than an hour after my appointment this is the only reason why i do not give this place full stars. the doctor is great he really takes the time to tell you what you need to do to improve your health and even got a referal for my husband to get discounted dental work at uic. read more

Im really impressed with Dr. Trambas. I was taken in very quickly the receptionist and assistant were super nice. I had once a terrible experience last year at another dentist so I was really nervous and scared =) wow it was so awesome x-rays painless and cleaning super painless and very well done. Unlike most dentists Dr. Trambas was very friendly and personable and didnt demean me on brushing like all dentists do =) he is a hidden gem in our Edgewater community. I strongly reccommend him. I've been visiting Dr. Trambas for the past three years. Overall it is a OK experience. He talks and tells me what ever I want to know and at the end he gets the job done which is the most important part. The place on Sheridan needs complete rehab and it really looks bad. I prefer going to Melrose par even though I live 5 minutes from the Sheridan location. Melrose Park place looks much better and gives me much more confidence when I'm there. I've fixed 4 of my teeth over there and I've done one crown and have no issues since than. read more

I visited Dr Trambas office on a Saturday to have my crown done. Naturally I was pretty nervous, and waiting in the waiting room did little to calm me down. When it was my turn to go in Dr Trambas was very reassuring and thoroughly outlined the entire process. On this visit he smooth my tooth to make an impression for a crown then placed a temporary crown on it. Honestly it was a pretty simple setup, and I can't remember any pain, but who knows (my memory isn't that hot). I left feeling relieved that this was all over; the procedure took about 30 minutes. I came with my two year old son, so I was glad I didn't have to wait long for the procedure to be over. All in all solid experience. I'll be going back get the 2nd part of my crown work done, and I'm not nervous about it anymore. read more

During a routine cleaning, it was brought to my attention that I needed a root canal on a previously damaged tooth. Dr. Trambas was great throughout the process. He worked with my time frame and my budget. He made recommendations on how to get the most out of my insurance. In the end I had a painless experience, avoided a potentially painful experience, and got an amazing crown. The tooth that needed repair was something that always was on my mind. I went to this dentist's office for a check-up exam as well as cleaning. The office itself is shared by 3 doctors, including this one. The place feels kind of creepy for some reason, but I was happy with the speed of the service. I went in during my lunch break, which is an hour, I was in and out less than an hour! I even had the chance to go get something to eat afterwards :) The dentist is alright, he wasn't too talkative and was a little on the cold side, but he did his job, so I give him credit for that. The hygienist was nice, she took the x-rays and beared with me when I almost cried biting those films, that hurts! read more
