Dr berry has unsteady hands the brain of a ant and he burned my lip avoid this liar at all costs he will tell you he cant find the thrid root even though hes a specialist then he will tell you theirs a chance you can save the root canal by leaving a little decay at the tip of the thrid root wich is a flat out lie according to AI , after burning me he refused to check his mistake or my well being or even say sorry. I not only went to my bank to reverse the charge today but ill be calling the illinois dental board to have him investigated and guess what dr berry if your reading this not saying sorry might be your biggest mistake cuz its visable on the pictures that you burned me . This poor excuse for a doctor burned my lip twice in one proceedure then not only refused to finish after his mistake ! I've seen Dr. Bery for 3 root canals over the past 10 years or so and he is an absolute pro! I wouldn't go to anyone else. He has a very calming demeanor and puts you right at ease with his bedside manner. He takes his time and makes you feel very comfortable in the midst of a not-so-wonderful procedure. Dr Bery and his staff are incredible . I needed help and they were there for me. I called the their office Wednesday afternoon and they scheduled me for an evaluation the very next day . Dr Bery identified my problem and scheduled my procedure for Monday. That evening after the evaluation I received a call to see how I was feeling. Needless to say I was flabbergasted that a doctor would take the time to check on me. I was feeling some discomfort and so they squeezed me in on a Friday at 5:00 pm after all their scheduled appointments. Dr Bery and his staff did their magic. After finding indications of a root canal problem, my long-term dentist (more than 25 years) recommended Dr. Bery to me highly, saying he was one of the best root canal specialists he had known. Dr. Bery accommodated me almost immediately because I was leaving for Mexico at the end of the week. He did a superb job with the anesthetic and root canal work so that it was as good an experience as could be hoped and I was ready to travel without problems. He was excellent in explaining the proper use of post surgery pain medication and antibiotics. He also set up the second appointment to accommodate my travel schedule. He arranged a third appointment for a brief examination at no charge after my dentist had filled and capped the tooth. I've had zero problems. And what a really nice and interesting person. His staff was also helpful and they handled the insurance (such as it is for a root canal), with no problems. They also did not pressure for payment, despite insurance delays. read more

Needing dental work is never fun, but when you get it done by a caring competent and sensitive dentist, it makes world of a difference. Dr Berry is not just great but sensitive, he felt so bad that I was in lot pain due to unexpected additional needed work. It's hard to say having a root canal is "as good as it gets" but I went today to see Dr Bery and it was about the best dental experience I have ever had. I had excruciating tooth pain on Tuesday and was able to locate a dentist through 1-800-dentist. The first general dentist referred me to Dr Bery. Even though he was not in my network I went anyway because I needed to get out of the pain I was experiencing. Dr Bery was so friendly and kind and made me feel very comfortable. He made sure he understood my problem and double checked that a root canal was really warranted. The procedure itself was painless. Even the novacaine shot was fine - normally I hate that part. He was warm and kind. He took his time to perform the procedure and really did a through job. I hope I don't have to go back obviously since root canals are not fun but if I ever do have to get one I will go here. Plus he has the most adorable French accent! read more

I went to Dr. Bery for a root canal. He was very professional, compassionate and kind. Even though it was a long process, it was not painful, just a little uncomfortable. He did not keep me waiting. I saw Dr Bery at his Evanston location this last Wednesday. I had gone to my dentist as my lower right jaw was hurting and had radiating pain to my ear and neck. I found out I needed a root canal. Dr Bery was the only endodontist I could schedule within 2 weeks. I was in so much pain that I considered sticking myself in the eye with a hot poker just so I could get my mind of the pain in my jaw. I arrived at the office late, as I had a hard time finding the place and finding parking. Whole Foods was a savior, and I was whisked in almost immediately. I just had to fill out those patient info forms. Dr Bery saw the x-rays I had brought from the dentist and did another one to verify. He then said the tooth the dentist thought was causing the pain wasn't, but it was the next tooth. He then did some hot/cold test for sensitivity and sure enough Dr Bery was right. When he put the cold stuff on my tooth my right eye immediately teared up involuntarily. He then explained what he was going to do, and gave me the Novocaine. After that he proceeded with the root canal. I was concerned as my grandmother had died from an infection after a root canal not 10 years before. I had also developed a bone infection and lost my hearing temporarily in my right ear after my last root canal. He addressed the issue by giving me a prescription for antibiotics and not playing down my fears. Which I have had dentists do in the past. He also gave me a prescription for pain medication and told me to alternate between that and ibuprofen. He made sure to explain not to take additional Tylenol as the pain medication contained it and it wasn't good for the liver. I filled the prescriptions at the nearest Walgreens, as he said to take the first dose of pain medication before the Novocaine wears off. It was already starting to wear off by the time I was leaving. Dr Bery told me to call today to schedule the second half of the root canal unless I had an emergency or questions. The tooth was doing great until yesterday at about 5pm. I don't know what happened, as I didn't eat or drink anything out of the ordinary, but I developed a sudden and sharp pain in the tooth. As if someone was drilling the tooth/root without Novocaine. The pain was 3-4 times worse than the original pain that brought me in. I took the last dose of pain medication, and put Orajel on it but it did not even lessen the pain. I waited until today to contact his office to let them know about the increasing pain and to schedule my second appointment. I have the second appointment scheduled for April 8th, and Dr Bery will be calling me back regarding the increasing pain in my tooth. His office called me back and told me that if the pain persists or another symptom develops to call back. Dr Bery refilled the pain medication and told me to continue taking the antibiotics. On Monday night, I lost the hearing in my right ear (again, something I've had happen before after a root canal). I called the office Tuesday morning and talked to Dr Bery he told me he doesn't think it has anything to do with the medication or root canal (which personally I find odd, as this is the second time I had lost my hearing - both times after a root canal.) Dr Bery told me that they would try to find an appointment for me sooner than the April 8th. He also told me to go see a regular physician for my hearing loss. (Just as aside, last time I had a root canal and lost my hearing it was because of a bone infection that spread from my jaw to the little bone in your ear that vibrates giving you hearing). I have made an appointment with my family physician. Will update once I know what is going on. read more

over the years 3 DDS's have done root canals on me as req'd, and all came out just fine. this last one w/ dr. bery may've been the most tricky or sensitive, i don't know, but he did everything perfectly IMO. efficiently, it struck me, which means speedy and thorough. no particular pain during the procedure. and workmens comp. insurance was accepted with no problem. zero in on Dr. Paul Bery's little office up in evanston if you're ever given the news you need a root canal read more
