Gabriel & Dresden at Ora NYE 2019
    Jessica H.

I came here for their New Year's Eve party with Gabriel and Dresden. The venue was smaller than I expected, with a tiny bar and one DJ downstairs, and a larger space upstairs where the main acts play, with a few roped-off VIP seating areas and a larger bar. Clientele was decent and pretty well-behaved :) Seemed like a mix of the wealthier Seattle IT crowd looking for a party and your average joe who enjoys EDM tunes. The theme was Gatsby/1920s and people were dressed to the nines, for the most part. Staff was great and kept coming around with free water to keep us hydrated while we danced. I will say the worst part was the bathrooms were honestly really gross, with staff rushing in with a plunger while I was in line to try and repair not one but two of the toilets, and also terrible water pressure to try and wash your hands with. It honestly made me not want to drink much so I wouldn't have to pee because I really, really didn't want to use those restrooms again! So they lost out on some alcohol sales from me Coat check was $5 + tip. We found overnight parking around the corner for $20 which was kind of highway robbery, but it is downtown. The main act lasted until around 2:30am and then another DJ came on until shortly after 3:00am. The crowd was good -- enough people to feel like you're a part of something, but not so much that you're fighting for space on the dance floor. I'd definitely go back, but man, they need to work on those restrooms.

I think Ora is a fantastic night club music is always booming bottle girls are wonderful bar girl are wonderful the DJ's always playing great music to dance to you need to come here

I booked a table at Ora to celebrate my friend's bachelorette and we all had a great time! I highly recommend booking a table at Ora because not only do you get a area to lounge around, it also covers your ticket and a bottle of booze (either Absolute or Jack Daniels). Amaani was easy to communicate with and responds back in a timely manner, unlike other Nightclubs in Seattle that we were interested in booking. He even threw in a complimentary bottle of champagne for the occasion, which I thought was a nice gesture. My only comment was that our pitcher of soda was warm when the hostess pour us chasers, but she quickly noted and brought us another one that was chilled. While there is a dress code listed on the website, Ora seems pretty lax as I saw people there in sneakers and jeans. However, the decor is nice and the place is kept clean. Ora plays EDM/Trance/House which personally is not my cup of tea but I thought Nifra's set was awesome. Overall, Ora is a great nightclub if you're looking for a place to host a bachelorette or special occasion. With the nice decor, you might as well dress to impress.

Time without number I've found myself here, be that first dates, my birthday, or New Year's Eve, and it always feels like home. If home were a clown/carnival themed acid trip of a pinball arcade bar, that is. And what's not to love about that? The bar tenders here are cool and friendly people who pour drinks with a heavy hand, and understand the mission: get the patrons who want to be drunk, drunk. The first few times I visited, I felt a leeriness about ordering food. But once I got over myself, I kinda fell in love with the menu, and I've probably eaten everything on it (including the clam chowder). Their hot dogs are wonders to behold, utter symphonies for the senses, and I refuse to visit Shorty's without getting one. Best dog in Seattle? Why yes. I think so. To paraphrase one reviewer: "Take your date here. If she doesn't like it, she's lame and you shouldn't waste your time with her anyways." Shorty's is the bomb.

The male bartender was extremely rude. As soon as we walked in, he aggressively asked for our IDs…read more Then, while my cousins and I were looking through the food menu, he barely gave us a chance to read it before saying, "I'll take whoever is ready to make my life easier." That's not something paying customers want to hear. I ended up ordering a drink for myself while the guys were looking at the menu because they were doing a food hop, and us girls were doing a bar hop. During that time, the bartender came back to our table at least four times within about five minutes. Instead of being attentive, it felt pushy and aggressive, especially since they were still deciding what they wanted. I've been here a few times before, but after this experience, this will definitely be my last visit.

The Tech & Ordering Breakdown: The issues began immediately with a broken QR code ordering system. After we informed the staff, we were told to just wait. After wasting 10 minutes, we had to flag someone down to finally take our order in person. The entire process took 20 minutes due to zero proactive support. The Main Service & Food Transparency Issues: While the overall food quality was disappointing, the service was even worse. Our skewers arrived piled on a single plate with no explanation of what was what. Our server promised to check on the names of the dishes but never returned. She actively avoided our table for the rest of the night. We eventually flagged down someone who appeared to be the manager or owner. While polite, her service was just as inattentive. When she tried to identify the skewers, her explanation completely contradicted our actual order. We ordered one rounds of Wagyu--the most expensive item on the menu--but what we were served did not match. It left us feeling like the restaurant is either substituting premium cuts with cheaper meat or the staff is entirely untrained. Logistics & Drinks: The lack of basic service standards was shocking considering the restaurant only had two other tables occupied. A cocktail ordered at the very beginning of the night didn't arrive until we were almost finished eating, despite us successfully ordering multiple rounds of beer and sake throughout the meal. There is a complete lack of basic service standards and transparency here which is absolutely sad as the restaurant has pretty good ambiance. Despite the ambiance, I highly recommend spending your hard-earned money at one of Seattle's other excellent izakayas instead.

Everything came out piping hot and was packed with bold, authentic Thai flavors, including turmeric, lemongrass, and lime. Our favorite was the pork skewer. The meat was flavorful on its own, but dipping it into the sauce with onions, toasted rice powder, and tamarind took it to another level! The portions are also really generous, so there's plenty to share. And definitely save room for the mango sticky rice for dessert because it was the perfect sweet way to end the meal. To wash it all down, we paired the wings with an excellent local beer on tap, which rounded out the meal perfectly.Finding a spot that nails both the food and the service can be rare when traveling, but this place knocked it out of the park. As soon as you walked in you could see why they label it a dive. What I noticed most was the warmth this place emitted. How welcoming it is as soon as you walked in here. As soon as I walked up to the bar and found a seat, I was greeted warmly by staff and able to look over the menu. The staff here are part of the charm. The staff, and I can't say this enough, were wonderful. You can tell this is a great place to work if staff show up early for their shift to just hang out. The guy behind the counter was great. I was near the serving window which looked right into the kitchen. I got to see them in there whipping up the dishes for each order placed. Constant stream of employees buzzing in and out and I got to overhear a lot of good chatter. Not wanting a big meal I went with and order of poutine. Just seemed like a perfect small meal to have. That warmth of fresh cut fries covered in cheese curd and gravy was the perfect meal to have midday. I wish I would have had more time in the city.
