Local service was great; phone service is terrible. Thomas, the technician, came out to set up Internet and was thorough, pleasant and extremely competent. High marks for him! But the phone and on-line process to sign up was painful. Our address was not in their database and when I called to check on it, I was told I had to go into the local office with 2 forms of id, including a social security card. Seriously? No, apparently not, because then I got a text saying that the appointment I requested wasn't available and asking me to text back. After some back & forth, it all worked out and we're very happy with our Internet and Thomas's work installing it. read more

Make this a "no-star" review if possible. Suddenlink has a functional monopoly on the market in our area and zero customer service is the result. The issue right now is paying for a $60 service call when no service to my residence actually occurred. (The problem was a general outage.) There is no effective appeal service within Suddenlink. Once the organization makes an error it sticks. After all, who would actually sue them over $60? I wish the charge were a million dollars - hiring a lawyer would be justified. read more

We have a second home in Truckee and unfortunately we have Suddenlink for phone, wifi & cable. The service is truely horrid; the response to residential customers is beyond dismissive. We had no wifi when we arrived - again a second home; they were unwilling to respond for 4 days. They said the equipment was ours, not theirs which is false; we have never purchased modems, routers etc. Also, the # of channels offered for the cable is absurdly scant. We are prisoners as other service is not offfered here & they take advantage of the lace of competition. Given a choice do not use Suddenlink. read more

This is actually a MINUS star! We are held as hostages in Truckee with no competition except DISH (not good in snow)! Suddenlink stopped sending ebills to our bank with no notice to either the bank or myself. Bills went unpaid for 2 months before I was alerted to the problem when they cut off our service! I called to complain and have service restoration fee and late payment fees waived. They said they couldn't do that but would take it up with higher-ups and call me back. That was many days ago...I hold no hope for seeing those fees taken off my bills. They also now charge $1/mo for a paper bill which I have now requested as I don't trust them to send ebills to me. I went into local office and they said they can't deal with biling charges, but they were aware of the problem I had as MANY others did as well. I don't know how well SuddenLink will work yet. AT&T had only DSL and it dropped off all the time. So, I changed to SuddenLink because it is via cable and is supposed to be much faster. I was quoted $71.98 for my monthly charges, but I was not advised that the rate was about to be jacked up an additional $8.46. The raise landed on my first bill. How irritating! The installer really had attitude, too. So far, not impressed. read more

Without a doubt, this company has the worst customer service of any cable/phone/internet provider I have ever experienced. A routine customer service inquiry becomes a test of endurance. The task of getting to an actual person demands patience and persistence that is unreasonable. For example, in the last several weeks I have called 6 times and spent roughly 5 hours of my time to correct usage plan and billing problems, all to no avail. In response to this, I have twice requested supervisory intervention and call backs to me since the regular customer service agents have not resolved the problems. Both times I was told a supervisor would call back within "24 to 72 hours", which is ridiculous to say he least, but in both cases, no callback has been received, so who does one go to to get resolution and satisfaction? I continue to be on a different plan than the one I requested, my bill is for 20 times what it should be (that's right, 20 times), and I cannot do routine changes on their website. I finally stopped their "EZ Pay" option to protect myself from inappropriate withdrawals by Sudenlink. This company needs to clean up it's act quickly and regulatory intervention and oversight needs to happen to ensure they perform, or they should lose their license. At a minimum, a competitor is needed so that we as consumers have an alternative to this very bad situation. If we do get a reasonable alternative, rest assured the majority of customers will cancel their service with Sudenlink. read more

Have tried for over a week to find out if our home is "serviceable" (our neighbor's have so seems like a no brianer). Told me it would take 1-2 days. Called again today and they could tell me nothing. Then told me to call local office.when I asked for phone number it changed and they said I need go to office (50 miles away!). Found local number of office on web but it just goes to call center which can tell you nothing. Impossible to talk with someone who knows anything, every number just takes you back to call center. Thought AT&T was the worst, but have now found a new low. read more

The actual product is very nice but now they've been bought out by somebody in Europe you can't even call the local office We schedule an appointment for Thursday The service man shows up at almost 6 o'clock at night without the equipment needed then he tries to call the headquarters and it's too late they're closed I said you mean you don't even have a hotline to call your company direct you're the service man. He says no I have to wait on the phone for my headquarters to pick up and sometimes it takes 15 minutes so I can't get much service work done that's why I'm so late getting to you. So he tells me I'll come back tomorrow morning with the equipment. The next day we wait all day long but he never shows up. No one calls and lets us know that he's not coming he don't understand why we work first thing in the morning if he couldn't get to us the night before. read more

We avoided Suddenlink for years because of the bad reviews about customer service. Being that there really aren't any other options in Truckee, we finally got rid of overpriced and underperforming DSL and signed up. We've now had Suddenlink for 6 months and I can say about the poor reviews is that these people must have never dealt with Comcast. Having had Comcast in the Bay area for many years, my expectations were not high with Suddenlink but so far I've been pleasantly surprised. The service is good, they have just added new channels, the internet speed is great (we just have the basic internet speed package) and best of all, I've never had a problem getting someone on the phone when I need to call! So far I'm impressed! read more

Worst customer service. Set an appointment for 8-12. Got a call at 10:30 that the tech would now be there between 1 and 5. Not what we signed up for. Waited on hold for 30 minutes to make sure it is cancelled. Offered me $20 for wasting 1/2 a day waiting. Just rude. Service is not great. TV is glitchy and internet is ok for 1 person. Put a 2nd on it and it all suffers. Go another route if you have a choice. read more

Suddenlink in Truckee, Ca. is the worse!! I called Wednesday and made an appt because our service had been out and they gave me an appt and sent me an email confrimation for Friday between 8am-11am, nobody showed up. So I called and the foreign call center told me I didn't have an appt. So she said she called dispatch and the tech will be there in 30 mins. 2 hrs. later nobody showed up so I called again and a different girl told me I didn't have an appt and she had no way to call dispatch. So I asked to talk to a supervisor and she said there isn't anybody I can talk to that someone would call me back, and that never happened either. you can't contact the local office because they have no phone number to call, or there service is out too. You can't reach anyone in America because every time you it goes to a foreign call center and there not very helpful. I don't know how a company with such bad customer service can stay in business. they only have 1.5 stars on Yelp. So my service is still out and its only been a week and half! This isn't the first time I've had problems with my service, this is just another time. The techs don't call, they show up late or in this case just never show up at all. I wish the city of Truckee, Ca. would let other service providers into the area so we could have good reliable service. If anybody knows the phone number to get in touch with the local office that would be great. I would have given them zero stars but that's not an option... read more

Just spent 45 minutes on the phone. I was responding to a solicitation I'd received numerous times over many months. I hoped to remove service I had not used in over 1 1/2 years and add the TV service deal they advertised. Oh NO. The actual price was 33% higher after the small print fees and required rentals. I was told by the "sales" agent the service I wanted to remove would save me some small dollars. When I asked about where I could return equiptment I was put on hold for ten minutes ony to be reconnected with "Retentions". Oh NO again. This new agent told me if I removed the service I didn't use the bill would increase! But she could offer me a bundle with the service I didn't need + TV. I asked for a cost and was put on hold again. After 10 additional minutes on hold I gave up. 45 minutes and nothing accomplished which, I guess, is what they wanted. All this for 200mps internet service that never goes over 35mps. read more

I have had internet, phone and TV with them for years at my donner home, which is for rental and vacation. The service, especially internet, is extremely unreliable. They disconnected my service in May without telling me because they said there was noise in the line. When I told them I needed it fixed, they tried to tell me it would be two weeks - yes, two weeks to add back the TV/internet/phone they disconnected. Two hours on the phone and I finally got someone to send a tech out earlier. As I seek a refund for the time it was out, i find out that my service is going up by $50 per month and I call back multiple times and no one will tell me why or how it is going up. I have had 3 different customer service reps lie directly to me. It is literally the worst customer service I could even imagine. I have spent 8 hours this week trying to fix service that was they broke 2 months before and somehow my bill went up by 40% to compensate me for my efforts. Beware - incompetent customer service, fraudulent technicians. On Friday, 2/ 16 I scheduled the first available appointment Monday afternoon 2/19 to resolve my cable channel access issues. Appointment was confirmed 1-5PM Monday 2/19. I called several times to confirm; most customer service reps indicated the work order didn't have the details although I did get an email confirmation Monday morning (2/19). I never received a call from the technician. At 5:30 PM when I called (since the latest online notification said the technician would be there between 4:15 - 5:30), I was told that the notes in the system stated "all services operational". This is not the case. I still can't get channels. The technician never called or came to the condo. The customer service representative did not know what to make of the situation, but the appointment was closed out as "completed." Upon requesting to speak to the supervisor, we were told there was a long hold time and we would receive a call back. 1 1/2 hours later we have not yet received a call back. On top of that, we often lose our channels and have to call Suddenlink to send a ping to our box to reset. Not reliable at all! read more

We have a 2nd home in Tahoe Donner with phone, Internet and cable. For the last year (since signing up for service) the internet drops off multiple times per day (out again today all day) and channels 1 thru 15 also drop off. Rest of channels are pixelated. Have had multiple tech people out (who have been very nice) but service issues remain. 3 different times a supervisor was supposed to call but no one ever did. So after paying $90/month for the last year for extremely inconsistent service, I called today and cancelled ALL bundled services. Would love to keep them but my gosh, this has gotten beyond ridiculous and who wants tonpay for service that isn't being provided? No more. read more

So called Tivo, 1+ hour with them they said you need to take it into your local Suddenlink office to update the software, so called Suddenlink back they said no, you need to have a technician come out. Okay so got an appointment, called back that evening to confirm, " we don't see your appointment" so made a new one, got a confirmation call the day before waited, no technician, called back said they had no record of our appointment (again), "then how did I get a confirmation call?", "We don't know, sorry", so after 30 minutes confirmed new appointment for the next day, got a confirmation call that evening, took off work again waited all day no service call, called again "we have no record of your appointment (again)" supervisor was of no help, "someone will call you in the next 2 days to make an appointment, but if you don't answer we will cancel the service call" Really!! Went down to local office to see if they could help; No, said they had no record of any calls or appointments and it's too late to make any so will call you in the morning".............still waiting..... Past problems: cable problems 2 service calls, 2 hours each, 2 days by "independent contractor" for suddenlink no solution, 3rd visit 3rd day by Suddenlink employee 2 hours, "ah finally works!", last technician installed equipment wrong. Wanted increase internet speed. Well you get the gist of it now, service call not working, to office in town on our own twice for equipment, slight increase in speed. Ugh! read more

Not knowing that I must return the "boxes" I have had nothing but a big mess. No one in to talk to in Cal. only Texas. The tech has been "rescheduled many, many times by the company!!!!!. This is to remove the boxes. They have no records of anything. My recommendation do not use this company you will only be paying for stress and lots of lies. In fact, It has been a pack of lies!!!! I have had this (lack of) service for years now, always hoping they would upgrade their system, unfortunately, this has not happened so far. I pay for the top tier (15M). I'm deployed in Afghanistan at the moment and using what is here, universally derided as worthless internet. I have noticed that I am unable to reliably use Skype since the connection randomly slows and drops. You would instinctively think I would naturally believe it is the internet here, however, multiple speed tests on both ends prove that it is not. Also, I'm able to Skype others, outside of Truckee with no issue. Suddenlink as an ISP is below pathetic, I like the other reviewer's comment about negative stars and black holes, I FULLY understand the sentiment. My suggestion to Suddenlink is that they reduce the monthly service fee to perhaps $3.00 - $3.27 to align with the quality of service. read more

This company seems either to not care about their customers or they are just very poorly organized ... or maybe a little of both? There is no follow through. Our internet went down over two and half weeks ago. Literally their line came down... My husband called to tell them the line was down. They said they couldn't do anything for the line because his name wasn't on the account. He told them that their line was hanging in the middle of the road and wouldn't they want to do something about that just as a safety measure ? He guy on the phone literally said that it wasn't his problem. Since then we have called multiple times to get our internet back up and running. They said they would come out over two weeks ago and never showed up. They have repeatedly scheduled times that they were going to repair the line and then they never show up. We have always been really respectful to them in all of our interactions . I went in to the office last week to check on when they were coming out hoping an in person visit would be more effective. They scheduled another day in which they were supposed to fix the line . Guess what? Still no internet. They flaked out again.Today they were supposed to show up and never did. If you have the ability to go with a different company I would jump ship in a heart beat. read more

(It is impossible to know if the number is local or cell) You would have thought in this day and age this would be automatic.... instead I constantly get a message "this is a local phone number, redial the number and do not dial a 1" or " You must dial a 1 to connect to this number, please hang up and redial".... Rather than write a review - here a copy of my letter to SuddenLink today. There are no negative stars to rate how bad this has been August 4, 2013 To SuddenLink Cable: On July 22th after 6 months of construction I moved back into my newly remodeled house. When the first technician came out to install my service I told them to be very careful with the walls, floors and house in general because it was all new and spotless and I wanted him to respect that and do a clean professional job with the new wiring and install. What happened next is appalling! First the service was never completed properly that day and it took 3 other technicians over the next few days to finally get it all working. On the 29th the supervisor told me the problem was mainly at the street because the wiring to my house was mixed in with the condo next door causing the signals to be marginal at best. This has been a problem and reported several times over the last few years here, but at least the last technician had it working until today when my neighbor cut all the lines coming out of his house into mine. In fact the police department was just here (Sunday Aug 4 around 6pm) because my neighbor found that not only where my new lines coming out of his house, but someone had entered his side through the basement on my side and left a huge man size hole in the fire wall between our two units. It looked like my service for Suddenlink had been tapped into from his side because several new wires to my house were coming from his side, so he felt justified in cutting wires coming out of his house into mine. Most importunately, and why the police were involved is that this huge hole was left in the fire wall between our houses in the basement where the technician probably thought no one would notice... even before the police incident, I had complained because the first technician had not only left copious amts of finger prints and smudges on my new walls and drill dust on my new floors refusing to clean up himself, but I also later found a huge 5x7" hole in the dry wall across from where he was working that he covered before quickly saying he was late for another appointment and had to leave my job undone.... read more

We were a Suddenlink customer since 2008 (thanks to no competition) and suffered multiple issues and pain due to lack of service, miserable service, unbelievable incompetence, and the most arrogant corporate attitude toward customers. Yeah, even worse than the DMV. Trying to cancel in January was a half-hour challenge in trying to convince me to stay. I would have hung up but wanted to be sure I was indeed cancelled. Then I received a bill for a piece of equipment that never existed at my property. The Truckee office said I had to take it up with Billing, although they were kind enough to show me the piece of equipment that I allegedly had. Since I was now a disconnected former customer I was not allowed to speak with a human. The bozo agent I finally got via Chat (preceded by five minutes of 'chatting' with a bot), wasted 30 mins of my time before telling me to call customer service, which is the same phone tree as for billing, so no luck in speaking with a human ... just two ways to pay for the non-existent equipment. I am so happy to have cut the cord, but who would have thought my cable hell would follow me. This company sucks, their service sucks, and they need a good dose of competition. This is how you know a business is a monopoly. Over a year ago, I sold a house in the Lake Tahoe area and proceeded to cancel all of the utilities, including cable. Conveniently, Suddenlink did not register the cancellation and sent me bills to the house I no longer lived in for months, all while receiving payment from the new owner for their cable and TV service. I first heard that they had been charging me when I heard from a collection service to whom the unpaid account had been transferred. After claiming that they had no record of the cancellation, I refused to pay and now they have a collection account on my credit report. I'm going to initiate legal action against them for defamation, unfair and deceptive practices and negligent misrepresentation but I wanted everyone to know you are better off not having TV or Cable than working with these chumps. read more

After scheduling an upgrade to Internet, phone and cable a technician installed the items. next day service went down. had a tenant in the house for a week stay and was without anything as Suddenlink could not service it until the following week. Second installation tech stated the first tech did not check incoming lines as was supposed to do and had to replace incoming cable feeds. called Suddenlink to say service was down foe a week, had to arrange a second trip and appointment on our end not to mention the inconvenience and comp to a tenant. The representative offered a refund credit for a mere $43.35 that would show up on next billing...next billing comes and a $ 20.00 credit is all that is applied. Representative Lorenzo kept stonewalling the issue by stating the "committee" that reviews refunds rejected the amount promised and once submitted no follow up can be contested. After 30 min on the phone I suggested Lorenzo do himself a big favor find a new job less he be a serf and drone in a Russian like corporation the rest of his life telling customers the is no hope.....Should have gone with DISH read more

As everyone has already pointed out, this is by far the worst cable and Internet service you'll experience. We moved to the area almost two years ago and trying to work from home over VPN is near impossible. Before relocating, I'd had previous service with Verizon Fios, Comcast, and AT&T. What Fios previously offered me in Washington DC is like some distant dream. Since moving here, we've canceled cable entirely. It's not even worth the hassle or the cost. The TV guide was always wrong, displaying a show as on but something entirely different was actually on. Meaning, trying to TiVo anything was pointless. We called to have a tech try and repair it several times before giving up. The number of channels included in the package in Tahoe Donner is a joke. Other basic HD packages from providers include many channels that aren't available until you upgrade to some premium package with Suddenlink and the cost is TWICE what we used to pay for Fios! The internet constantly was going out at our house for the last seven months. Restarting the modem would sometimes resolve the issue, but usually would force me to end work early or to continue working offline. Working in IT, there were a handful of maintenance windows when I was supposed to conduct server maintenance and was unable to do so because the service would go out. Every time I called Suddenlink, they would say they need to send someone out here (for a fee) and several days later. This is completely unacceptable. Last night, we finally reached someone useful who checked our modem and found that we were given one for 20mbps even though we have been paying for 50 Mbps- which causes the Internet to stop working. After experiencing issues for seven months- they JUST figured this out! Absolutely ridiculous. In a metro area, Suddenlink would be out of business. If there were any other options available, we would change providers. read more

A wonderful experience, especially for a cable company at Lake Tahoe. Our order for internet service was easily placed online. I received three follow-up calls confirming the installation appointment, and the technician/installer, Don, arrived on time. He did a perfect installation job and was very personable, efficient and helpful. I had the internet up and running in just a few minutes and the speed is really fast. I simply do not agree with the previously posted negative reviews. I could not be happier and I give Suddenlink a FIVE STAR review. read more
