It was time to change out the family cell phone carrier and get some new iPhones at the same time. Here in Truckee, we are a bit limited when it comes to reliable cell service. AT&T and Verizon are the only real players. So, off to the local Verizon store. I like buying cell phones and changing plans about as much as I like buying a car. Both of which are lower on my list of enjoyable ways to spend time than going to the dentist. And, I was not disappointed. I walked in and I got a bunch of, "we can't do that here" "we are not a corporate store" "we don't do trade-ins" "we can't help with that discount". I actually had to stop the sales guy and explain I didn't want to hear "I can't" one more time. To his credit, he seemed to reset himself and things got better. Hey, everyone has a bad day, right... In the end, we left with a better contract and new phones for the family. While the process seriously took longer than my last car purchase, it worked out ok. read more

My 82-year-old husband encountered trouble with his Pixel 7. He took it to a Gilroy, CA Verizon store and was blown off by the personnel there. He has also received poor customer service near our Reno, NV home. I suggested we drive to this Truckee store and, as always, got great, professional service. Sales Rep Branden R was knowledgeable and patient with my husband. We decided on a course of action to deal with the Pixel glitch and left the store as VERY satisfied customers. read more

After my old iPhone died I bought a new 16pro from them but they did not know how to set it up for me saying that Idid not purchase enough iCloud storage and that is why my info is not transferring to the new phone. I have been calling VERIZON regarding buying a new cell phone since June 6th, 2025. I was rerouted to the Philippians a number of times only to be frustrated because not only was I put on hold for a long time, but it was difficult to understand them, and they always gave me the wrong information. Twice they sent the phone to the wrong address. The third time it was supposed to come to my home and when I didn't receive it after two weeks, I found out it was never ordered. It was supposed to be a FREE upgrade so then they sent me to a Verizon Store in Truckee CA and after waiting 20 minutes the rep informed me they could not give me the free upgrade, that I had to order it by phone - again. When I finally tried to order it by phone they told me they were out of stock [yet they had it the first few times and they have it at the Store]. I am very frustrated and trying to find a Manager at Verizon that I can talk to. Anyone know where I can talk to a Supervisor or Manager at Verizon? read more

I went today to purchase samsung galaxy ultra 7 watch in this location, the guy name jake was very helpful by provide a great service to me, he was pretty fast processing the set up samsung watch and adding to the account then link it to the phone and also install the camera lens protector to my galaxy s24. Before i had my purchase he would inform me about the promotion going on and let me understand the device pricing, difference on the monthly bills total. Definitely recommend this location read more

First time doing business with this store and last. Absolutely terrible experience. Long story short, I went in for a very specific phone and somehow "accidentally" got sent home the wrong phone (a newer and more expensive version of the phone I wanted.) This phone was never mentioned on my behalf so I don't know where the "confusion" was on the employees part. Also, the employee repeated back to me several times which phone I was interested in, so he 100% knew which one I was there to purchase. I realized it was the wrong phone shortly after I got home. Went it the next day and a different employee didn't believe me, rolled his eyes and smirked... making me out to be a fool and a liar in front of other customers and employees. Manager eventually dealt with me and said I needed to pay a $50 restocking fee to return it - even though the "mistake" was the employees (my argument was that he should pay for it) 2 hours later, we all eventually came to a consensus that worked in my favor (sort of). I truly believe the original employee that sold me the phone tried to pull a fast one on me. Shady shady business. AVOID. read more

Scam, they upgraded my account started a new account didn't process the trade in out me in other services that weren't authorized. Never sent returned phone back to warehouse. Countless hours on the phone with corporate to get my issue resolved. Over $800 I've paid at this time. Accessories are way over priced. iphone screen protectors, cases can all be found on Amazon for $20 less than what they sell them for. The sales people seem friendly enough but beware they lie about their products just to get you to buy them. Do your research before you go in to buy. Repeatedly ask for a better deal and they will give you greater discounts. The exchange price of our phones changed 3 times while we were in the store. I will not shop there again. read more

I was hesitant to visit this store based on the reviews...I'm so happy I did. My phone fell in the lake (10 minutes) and although we tried all the familiar remedies, it was toast. Brandon did an excellent job of downloading the information on my broken phone using some interesting work-arounds to the cloud so I could be back in business with new phone. He waited on four other customers while this was processing. Those folks looked very satisfied. I doubt they will leave a review. Keep up the good work Brandon you made my day! read more

Awful service. Don't stop to think it is COVID related. At the front of the store they asked you to log in and wait outside. I waited outside and watched 4 other groups go inside, wait inside, and get served and walk out. I left and just now, 3.5 hours later received a text they would let me know when I can come in the store to see an agent. There were 2 people in the store when I came in at 6 pm. To trade in my old phone for a credit. I was told it would be an hour wait by the 1 person working in the store. I explained that I work in Reno every night until 7 and it is difficult to just come back another time. He was completely unhelpful stating he has to go into my account so I had to wait for the other people to finish getting a new phone set up and plan. I was told it would be a quick drop off by the original salesperson. Please hire helpful staff. In addition the staff refused to tell me how to erase my phone. I was able to look up instructions on my own. He literally started another customer full phone plan set up before giving me a credit for my old iPhone. read more

Do not do business there!!! Call Verizon and do it online. I tried a jetpack on September 26th which didn't work. I returned it the next day and waited for the sales person to service me. In most places this busy you can take a number and get a text when you can be served. Not so here. After 4 hours I had to hit the road. I left them with the device and all the documentation. They have yet to refund me the $138 for the device. The store manager said he would last time (which was more than a month ago). Eric Stark is his name. Previous to that Eric Stark took my credit card information and said he process a credit to my account. Nick Alexander will start the process which is expected to take a month (today is December 16). I switched from ATT to Verizon and finally have service in and around Tahoe, much more than I used to. The person that helped me in the Verizon store was helpful, although I felt slightly taken advantage of upon leaving. They told me I'd get $450 for my trade in, and didn't tell me it was only $200 until I had already signed my life away. They also told me about going online for a $200 prepaid debit card as part of a promotion, but didn't give me any details and it was almost impossible to find to apply for. They also tried to up sell me on chargers and screen protectors and were kind of pushy when I said I didn't want it. I think Verizon should be more transparent in costs and help customers obtain rebates rather than making it all more difficult than it needs to be. They also still haven't uploaded the itemized receipt a few weeks later, and my first bill I received is incorrect and showing I still owe activation fees etc which I already paid for, so now I have to deal with updating the bill. read more

JAKE. omg jake. jake was amazing!!!!!! he helped me lower my phone bill by a lot of $$$ and was being incredibly helpful when he got me set up with my new iphone XR. jake is the MAN at helping, he didnt try and upsell me on anything i didnt want, he didnt push anything like promotions or more expensive options. he was straight up & to the point, and on top of that he is so personable and made me feel so comfortable. i asked so many questions & got an answer to all of them, we talked about so much and just he really knew his stuff. we started talking about more personal things and seemed he and i were just interested in knowing more about eachother. the best thing of all is that he was so cute, so i can genuinely say i enjoyed going to verizon and talking to this guy read more

Awful. A complete beat and switch. I bought a new iPhone XR and wanted to trade in my old iPhone. Told me they would set that up. After I can through buying the new phone (which they make you do first) and then paying all their extra add-ons for transferring data and turning it on...then they say that it won't work with my phone and to use MyVerizon to do it. And much of the data-transfer I paid extra for did not work! I go to MyVerizon and search for the how to trade-in page. When it comes up it is BLANK!!!!!!!!! This review is late, and I apologize for that. I left my iPhone in a Nevada rest area in April and didn't notice it gone until I stopped in Truckee for lunch. By then Find My Phone showed my phone touring the casinos of Reno. I was dang depressed. We found Victra, a Verizon outlet on Donner Pass Road in Truckee, and went in to see what I could do. I expected the sales person to shrug and say they just sell phones, but we got Juan. Juan went into their computer system and started giving me information. I was surprised what he could see. He did offer to sell me a new phone, but wasn't high pressure about it. He made sure my missing/stolen phone was locked down so the person who had it couldn't access anything but the contact phone number should they decide to try to return it, and advised me on additional actions I should take when I got home. Juan was honest, caring, and wonderful. If you find yourself in Truckee needing a phone -- or charger, or accessories -- please check in with Juan. read more

BEWARE!! This is not a "real" Verizon store. When I dealt with them, and had issues with service at my home within the first 12 days, they asked me to give it two more weeks to improve. They claimed that my poor service was due to the amount of tourists in town, using the "data towers." I waited 10 more days, I still had no service - I live in the country. They refused to take a return on my devices because it was beyond the 14 days. When I spoke to the sales person, he did not care what one of his own employees said. He simply refused to take the return and said if I leave the devices there, he will send them back to my house. BEYOND HORRIBLE SERVICE!! read more

As a business owner in Truckee, I would warn cell phone customers to avoid this store. Verizon is a great provider, but this store does not follow the normal Verizon Policies. The sales people want the sale, but they are less than honest with the agreements. I was told that I was paying only for the taxes for the phones. I was given no paperwork. Apparently I was paying for devices that I did not even want. The sales person added insurance to my plan, yet I have the paperwork showing I did not sign the form agreeing to it. If you want to start or renew service with Verizon, go to Reno or call the 800 number. I generally like to keep my business local, but this store does not treat Tahoe Locals well. read more

I have never experienced such horrible customer service. I went in to pick up my new phone, which was purchased online and according to Verizon available for pick up at the Truckee store. Will tried to assist me, but there was some kind of problem with my order (he couldn't specify what). The other salesman (dark glasses and lots of tattoos) came over to try to assist me (Will went on to the next customer). This guy was not able to help me either, so I asked if I could call my dad since he was the one who ordered the phone. Instead of waiting for me to talk to my dad (who I reached immediately) he went on to the next customer. When I asked if he would speak to my dad he said extremely rudely "when he was finished". So my 5 year old and I waited. And waited. And waited. Will finally finished with his customer and attempted to help us again but was unsuccessful. So after spending more than two and a half hours in the store, I left WITHOUT my new phone. read more

Service here is stunningly bad. My daughter and I went in on Wednesday and ordered new phones. We were told they would arrive on Thursday or Friday and they would call us. When we had not heard late Friday we checked the tracking and they had been delivered so we drove to the store. The man working there (who by the way did NOT pull his mask up over his nose and mouth) said they weren't there and eventually found them in two boxes sitting right by his desk. Clearly was not interested in helping us and didn't tell us what needed to be done. We waited for an hour while he tried to put them on our account but he told us "the Internet was out." We went back today and waited another hour while he tried again and now told us "Verizon is out." We told him to cancel the order. Frankly I can't believe they are in business, there is no customer service here at all. read more

Verizon is absolutely horrible to begin with, then you take a satellite store that is quasi connected to Verizon and you end up with just a horrible experience. I would not recommend Verizon or this store to anyone. Better off banging your head against the wall. read more

I brought my five year old Motorola phone to Verizon Truckee because it was having numerous service problems. Apparently my phone was out of memory and just plain old. Representative Skylar was able to help me pick out a new phone and despite having to deal with my disabled old phone was able to transfer my pics, history and contacts to my new phone. I would have been bummed to have lost all that Data. I found Skylar to be very helpful orienting me to my new phone and tablet. Thanks Skylar for making the extra effort!! read more

I was told I would be getting a S9 or S9+ buy one get one free. They even had a large sign in the window advertising this deal. I came back with my wife an hour later to decide on the two. When I came back they said the deal was no longer available and they tried to upsale me on a horrible deal. They then took the sign out of the window. This is a classic case of false advertisment. I like to shop locally when I can, so it really bothered me that they did not honor the deal they promised me, and tried to upsale me on something I specifically said I didn't want.
