Stopped by around 5:15pm on a Friday and it was super empty, only 2 other people in the restaurant with no line. Staff were so friendly and helpful! The texture of the pizza is fantastic! Fluffy, thin, and crispy. The pizza was great but did not have enough mozzarella sadly. There a couple slices that barely had any cheese and was mostly just tomato sauce. It would've been amazing with a little more cheese. We also got the butter beans as a small plate but those were sooo disappointing. The veggie pizza we got would have been better if it wasn't extremely salty. It was kinda hard to eat with it being that salty. What a wonderful evening! We called to make reservations and they welcomed us with no problem. I even checked prior to calling on line but my daughter's call worked perfectly! We were welcomed and they made accommodations for a large party. We stay up against the side wall but we're comfortable! The Bibb salad was delicious and had a bite! Oh god, this was one of the best meals i had in ny. The calzone was a pillow of ricotta, prisciutto, and some leafy green. A few perfectly blackened bubbles sat atop this half moon of deliciousness. Paired with a few of their house cocktails and even if just for a moment, the world was alright; life was still. An insane wine selection with plenty of amaro to pair. The service was awesome even on a happening Saturday evening. I love the open kitchen, the camaraderie, and yes, the calzone. I like the pizzas I got from Ops via Doordash. I got the 12" square pie which had tomatoes, mozzarella, oregano, olives, basil, pecorino romano, and I added sausage. I also got the Mamma pie which had tomatoes, ricotta, basil, garlic, meatballs, and parmesan. The ricotta was soft and not rubbery, and the sausage (while fewer pieces than expected) was good. Amazing sourdough pizza! We stopped by for a weekend brunch and sat outside on the sidewalk seating with our pup. It was still pretty empty so we sat right away. Started with the bib lettuce salad. Not sure what the dressing was but it was well balanced and they didn't drown the salad in dressing. Super tasty! We shared a margherita pizza which was perfectly charred. This spot has been on our list for a while, as sourdough pizza is where it's at! Finally we made....for my birthday dinner! We were there at 5:20 (they open at 5), and the place was largely empty. It is very cozy and comfortable inside! We ordered a glass of red wine to share, a margherita for the kids and a pops for us. Everything was FANTASTIC! We ordered the margherita and a special pizza called "pops," , which had meat in it (they allowed us to have half of it with meat and the other half without) . I did find some of the pizza a bit overpriced for what it was. The "pops" pizza was about $20 and the margherita was $16. However, both pies comfortably fed four people. I also tried a cola that was a different brand from Coca Cola. It had an interesting taste but I still prefer Coca Cola. Really like this place. Feels like a West Village place in a way but it's chef driven and you can tell the items and drinks are curated. It's good, clean and tasty food. Servers are nice and they can describe all their various wines and dishes well. I don't go as often as a I should. It's known as a neighborhood staple and the prices are reasonable. I think it's better as a dine in experience rather than takeout unless you live super close. Not a lot of nice and casual midrange places in the area so it's a nice option for Bushwick. Before 2022 rolled along, I had read something in the New York Post that Ops was highly regarded as one of the best for pizza in New York City. With that praise, and finally with some time on my hands, I decided to venture to Bushwick to see what this is all about. Are they right? Simply put, no they are not. The pizza is not bad at all, but it is decent, nothing crazy, almost reminding me of Speedy Romeo in Bed-Stuy. However, in doing my research, I found that Ops also offers a calzone, and judging by the pictures, it appears to have all the makings of a delicious calzone. It also happened to be a special the night I dined here. To not hedge my bets only on pizza, I ordered the calzone, which comes with ricotta cheese, mozzarella, olives, spicy sausage, some kale (I did without it). Is the calzone better? The simple answer is yes, definitely yes. Without a doubt, this calzone might rival Lucali for best calzone in the city. It is such a beautiful and perfect creation that both George Steinbrenner and George Costanza would come here over Paisano's for one of these. Perfect crust, perfect cheese layer, the meat is perfectly cooked and seasoned perfectly, and who would have thought that olives would add such an insane but beautiful flavor to the meal? It works, flawlessly. This is one calzone not to be messed with. It might look small, but it is a power pack ready to roll and give you that boost you have been looking for all day. It is a perfect calzone, what more can I say? As for the restaurant as a whole, it has a hipster dive feel to it, which makes sense considering the Bushwick location. My server (who was real honest by the way) deserves praise for being prompt and courteous to me, and working with me to make this dinner a special one. If you ask me what my favorite pizza spot in NYC is, it would definitely be Ops. They make delicious sourdough pizza with unique toppings. My favorite pie is the Cicero with all onions (honestly I was very skeptical at first, but it sooo delicious). It had so much flavor and the dough was outstanding. The pie with mortadella is also great. Definitely try the mixed olives and eggplant caponata for starters. The ambiance is great. They have a huge pizza oven that that is pretty cool to look at the pizzas coming out. They put the pizza on old 28 oz can of tomato sauce. It has a rustic and chill vibe. The weather was perfect so we decided to sit outside. The menu was tiny and adorable! We decided the share the Margherita with pepperoni. It came out after 20 minutes. It looked mouthwatering! My gf was so excited to take me to this pizzeria. She's been raving about it and told me I had to come when I returned. Since I'm such a good friend, I said of course. The textile of the crust was so good! It was chewy and delicious. The basil was fresh. The sauce was flavorful! The pepperoni was good, but wish they curled. All together good experience! I walked in with no reservation and had to wait about 40 min for a bar seat. Super packed! Awesome sign. Ordered a "salad". Probably a 7.5/10. It was interesting, the produce was extremely fresh. But the lettuce and endive (?) and radish were all perhaps cut a bit too large, it was tough to eat, and also a bit too bitter on some bites. The ranch was really tasty though, although I wish there was some more acid. Some tomato would've taken this to the next level. The margherita was an 8.75/10! The dough was excellent and the char was good. Nitpicking but I felt like the cheese was good not great, and the tomato tasted a bit too raw. I know margherita pizza typically uses raw tomato as sauce, but I wish it was given maybe 20 seconds more in the oven so that the tomato could develop some carmelization. That's the best part of a marg imo, and it wasn't quite there. (It's weird, at other spots, there's less cheese, and I feel like that gives the tomato more of a chance to carmelize. At Ops there may be TOO much cheese, which prevents the tomato from caramelizing. Hahaha I love food. But obviously, obviously, still really really good wood fired pizza. The service was okay! A friend recommended this pizza place so I was excited to try back in mid Feb. We arrived Saturday around 12:30pm and the place was fairly empty. Assume it gets busy later in the day and we got there too early. Cut restaurant with a bar up front as well. Service was really good. The four of us shared a square pie. We planned to hop elsewhere afterwards so didn't want to order too much. The dough here is sourdough which was interesting. The square pie was bigger and probably had a thicker crust than the round pies. If I come again I would get the circle pies cause I think the square was a bit heavy. read more

First visit, we got their bread and butter, a margherita pie with pepperoni, the square, and their calzone of the day (which had zucchini and salami inside). I really enjoyed everything, but it would be hard to say that this is among my very favorite pizza spots in the city, with so many other great ones out there. I just moved back to Bushwick and was sampling all the new pizza places and ordered from Ops now twice. First I ordered a Marinara pizza which I devoured all by myself! excellent crust, the wood burning oven really make the best pizza, don't leave home without it. :) Second time was with a group of friends, we ordered the Ops, Margherita and Marinara. Plus an excellent chocolate/amaretto dessert with a really interesting whipped cream that was not sweet but slightly salty?? Anyway, again EXCELLENT.
