Came here after some friends were craving ramen but not wanting to wait in a long line. The place is unassuming from the outside but is actually pretty cozy inside. You order your food at a kiosk but the food is brought out to you. I ended up getting a classic shio ramen. The portion was decently sized and the flavoring was well done. A good mix of saltiness mixed with the flavors of all the toppings. My friends made comments about the ramen really hitting the spot, and I can't disagree. I would say if you're craving ramen, this is a must to stop by.
I was recommended this place even before I moved to Seattle! The broth was full of flavor but not salty, and the menu has a mix of a variety of options, would definitely recommend!
Tried two bowls at Ooink and came away with a clear favorite. The mala kotteri (black garlic ramen) is visually striking...deep, dark broth topped with a great soft-boiled half egg, fried garlic chips, menma, and chunky cha siu that had great flavor and texture. At level 2 spice, it brings enough heat without overwhelming the richness of the broth. But the real surprise was the regular shoyu. It has this layered umami quality that's a little different from what I expected. After eating the mala kotteri first, the shoyu almost tasted like it had some seafood worked into the broth. That depth really won me over.
Stumbled upon this ramen place while in Cap hill area. The restaurant was small and is more of a self served restaurant. You first pay at the kiosk then grab a number to find a table. I decided to get the kotteri ramen while my husband got the mala version. Overall, the ramen was good but pricey. $20 per bowl is quite expensive for the amount you get. The broth was rich and garlicky. I noticed the broth is much thicker than most ramen places I've been to which I'm not mad about. I really like the noodle texture since it tasted very homemade. The charshu pork was tender and easily broken apart. I prefer this more than the mala version. Overall, it was a delicious meal but just expensive. I will come back whenever I'm around the area and craving ramen. FYI there's paid parking at the upper level for easy access.
This place is a super interesting Chinese-Japanese fusion restaurant combining Japanese ramen with mala flavors from Szechuan. Funnily enough, my favorite dish here is actually the Malaysian fried chicken, but the ramen is still pretty solid. The place is really small and it gets pretty busy so either come here at an off hour or be prepared to wait a bit for a table. It sounds a bit strange to recommend Malaysian dishes at a Chinese-Japanese fusion restaurant, but the fried chicken and cucumber salad here are the sleeper hits. The cucumber salad is super fresh but has an amazing umami and nuttiness from the peanut sesame sauce. The fried chicken is my favorite thing here. You get 3 giant drumsticks for only $13 which is pretty cheap. The skin is super crispy and it's really flavorful with all the spices. The ramen here is good but not my favorite. If not for the fried chicken, I would probably give this place 4 stars. The broth is rich and I love the mala oil they use. The mapo tofu ramen is pretty unique but I'm not sure the tofu actually adds anything to the ramen. I also wish there was more customization like noodle thickness and firmness.
This place has been in my to go list for a while. Hesitation: parking and it's cap hill after all, it's sketchy area. Parking: street or upper level parking. See photo for parking rate. First 30 min are free Located in the 2nd floor. You can access via staircase from Broadway. We ordered: Mapo tofu ramen Koterri ramen Shoyu ramen Spicy ayam goreng fried chicken- not too spicy, crispy outside, very moist inside. We love all the ramen, unique flavour, thick broth, perfect flavour. Seating: inside only Restroom: 1 single restroom only. There's a self serve station for water and sauces etc. We would love to come back for more if you dont have to pay for parking.
TLDR: super comforting bowl of ramen, perfect for Seattle rainy weather Decided to come here for lunch on a random weekday. Seattle was doing what it does and raining which put me in the mood for a nice bowl of soup. Coming here, it's located on the 2nd floor above QFC. You order on a small kiosk in front, take a number, and choose a table to dine. The workers were pretty attentive and went ahead and cleaned my table before serving my food which was really appreciated. First the soup - super creamy and umami (kind of surprised for a shio broth). The chashu was also super flavorful and matched the broth really well. The noodles were a thinner texture and the bamboo shoots were a nice contrast to the whole bowl. Overall solid bowl of ramen, will definitely be coming back again!
I'm almost convinced that Seattle doesn't understand the concept of great noodles. Or maybe I've been spoiled by all the amazing noodles I've had in my life both outside and homemade. Oiink is located in a mall, casual, with an abundant amount of seating. You order at the cash register and the workers bring the ramen to you. After you're done you bus your own table. I tried the Mala Kotteri ramen at a spice level 3 which wasn't too spicy. The broth itself is a little greasy with the added mala oil. And while the broth is flavorful (lended by that amazing kick of black garlic), it was missing the sour/sweet component. If you add a little bit of chinese vinegar that they have on the side, it elevates the broth slightly. Still, there was something missing that could've taken this broth to another level. The best part of the ramen was the pork, which is melt in your mouth juicy. And the noodles are pretty good too. My partner, who ordered the regular kotteri ramen, downed his bowl in minutes and agreed that the pork was pretty damn good. His ramen was less greasy than mine because he didn't have the mala oil. It's safe to say I wouldn't mind coming back, but maybe if someone else was paying or if I was in the area. It's affordable and decent tasting ramen.
Ooink is AMAZING, and I will happily return again. Solid menu of various types/flavors of ramen and a few other specialty items. Restaurant is super tiny, and you order yourself on an iPad. I'm guessing no substitutions makes it easier for the super friendly staff you get orders out quick. Ours order was ready in no time at all. No fountain drinks, but a bunch of different drink selections in the fridge next to the order station. 4 orders of ramen, 4 sodas, and a pork gyoza cost $125...not too bad. Flavor of the ramen is totally worth the price.
Probably my favorite ramen I've had in Seattle to date. Ordering is easy. Ramen is outstanding (get the add ons) and the fried chicken and cucumbers are musts.
Ramen was quick to come out and fresh! Cha siu was nice and tender but could be more flavorful. They were generous with the toppings. But it was a little messy in terms of getting spoons and napkins and bussing your own table
Came in with a group of 7 around 9:30ish on a Friday, and it's located above the QFC. The restaurant was quite full, and we weren't sure if we could sit and eat but another couple was incredibly kind, and moved to a two person table so we could take their 6 table. I ordered on the tablet and took a plastic number. They let you check a spice level, along with all types of additions. They have self serve water and utensils, and sauces, and some chopsticks at each table. A worker came and gave us all soup spoons. Food came out pretty quickly. I really enjoyed the mala ramen I got! Really flavorful broth, well cooked meat, it was maybe a tad oily. I got a spice 4 (highest spice) and that was a good amount for me, but it's strong numbing flavor. I could definitely taste a difference between a 2 and a 4. We also got an order of the fried chicken, and that was easily the best thing we had. The chicken was huge, piping hot, crispy exterior, really juicy meat. I will be getting it for myself when I go back!
In my short trip to Seattle, I became obsessed with this place. They are so much better than that hand pulled noodle place on Pike. Everything's better the noodles, the broth, the service.. and it's cheaper too. First, I tried the Mala Kotteri because it was their signature dish. I got a spice level of three. While it was very good, I didn't like that the chili oil overwhelmed the flavor of the delicious broth. And it might've been too many flavors going on for me, but for a spicy food lover, it might be the right thing. Next, I got the Shoyu Ramen, this was great because I could experience the delicious 26 hour broth. It might be the best broth I've ever had. This would be great if you wanted a mild classic style Ramen. Lastly, I tried the Ma Po Tofu Ramen. This was my personal favorite. It is the most delicious thing I've eaten on this whole trip! It struck just the right balance between spice and the Umami flavor of the broth. At a spice level of one you could taste the Szechuan peppercorn, but it was subtle and did not overwhelm the broth. I love the garnish of crispy noodle and that cabbage stuff on top was incredibly delicious. I think if I lived here I would become addicted to this dish. 10 out of 10! I also love that they had garnish on the side, including Szechuan peppercorn, chilis and black vinegar. This place is legit!
The first time I came here was a few years ago when they first opened and I must say their ramen has improved! Not as rich as other places, but a good balance with flavor! The noodles were also delicious and the perfect texture. All employees wear masks and gloves. They have limited outdoor seating (not heated) right outside their shop. read more

I don't give out 5 stars often, but this place deserves an extra star! The wiener was there and was going to tables to say thanks for coming and having pleasant conversation! The spicy tofu miso ramen was amazing! I recommend this place for date night or any typical rainy evening in Seattle! read more

We're tourists, so it took us a minute to find the restaurant. (If you're keeping track, it's upstairs in the shopping complex.) We were able to grab a table right when we arrived, which was fortunate because it got very crowded two minutes after we sat down. The place is tiny - I feel like the kitchen is bigger than the dining room, but given their popularity, it makes sense. I decided to order the Kotteri ramen, and my husband got the spicy Kotteri (extra spicy, of course). The ramen was delicious, and it came out quickly. The broth had a deep, rich flavor that was perfectly complemented by the pork and the black garlic oil. The shoyu egg was perfectly cooked, as well. We enjoyed everything about this stop - which ended up being our last stop of the day while in the city. The service was top-notch, the food was delightful and the restaurant itself was cozy and comfortable. They even have aprons to loan you, if you're worried about broth splashing all over your top! read more

This is the second time I have been to Ooink and it was just as good as I remembered. You can smell the food before even walking in the door. I ordered the Mala Ramen and it was super delicious. The broth is rich and smooth, and they offer four different levels of spice options. As an avid spicy food enjoyer, I got the level 4 spicy and it was still super flavorful despite being numbingly hot. The pork was very tender and the soft boiled egg was my favorite part. My roommate ordered the Mapo Tofu Ramen and it was also very yummy. It had a milder flavor than the mala ramen and also had a thicker broth texture. You can really tell that each bowl is handcrafted to its highest potential. The people who work there are very nice and attentive, and the place has a nice ambience. They took our orders at the register before we sat down, and we got our food really quickly after. It's a smaller restaurant though, so it was a bit busy when I went and I can definitely see larger parties having to wait a bit for a table. Overall, I would definitely come here again, it's always nice to see fun and inventive takes on a classic ramen bowl! read more

Ooink is a very small ramen shop in Capitol Hill with unique flavors. I got the shoyu ramen and the broth was meaty and flavorful, and the pork had a sort of sweet bbq flavor that I've never experienced at a ramen place before. It was very good! This place is popular with limited seating so the process is that you pay for your food then wait outside for a table then wait at your table for a while longer for the ramen. If you're not in a hurry I'd suggest checking it out. read more

Some of (if not) the best Ramen in WA!! It is rare to enjoy such exceptional service from the chefs and front of house. They went above and beyond to make sure that I enjoyed my lunch. read more
I'm usually not a ramen person because I usually just like instant ramen but my friend wanted to try this place out so we did and it was a pleasant surprise. The place is on top of the qfc, right next to marination station. It's a small place and can fit maybe 10 people. We ordered the spicy koteri and the chicken wing appetizer. The chicken wing was super crispy and had a strong lemongrass scent. It was a little on the bland side but still really good. The ramen was very pretty looking. It came with pork, egg, bamboo shoots and other various toppings. The brot was perfect texture. I was hoping that it would be somewhat spicy but it wasn't at all. Otherwise, everything thing was good The price is a little high but the food is good so it was justify. Service was wonderful and people were really nice. I also like that they highlight on the receipt that they put in a 12% service charge and that they don't need additional tip. read more

Shio ramen ($11.95): 4/5. I really liked the broth, and the portion was decent. The broth had a lot of flavor. The chasu pork was disappointing though. There were only two pieces, and they tasted rather dry and tough. It wasn't as buttery soft as other chashu I've tried. There was only half an egg, but they give a good amount of bamboo shoots. Overall, the ramen is presented really nicely in the bowl. Service was decent. It was packed and super busy when we went on a Sunday evening. It's really small and crowded inside, and there were like five or six people waiting outside while we were eating. Ordering is quick and efficient because you get a menu and an order sheet along with a pen; you just mark your order on the sheet, and a server collects it. I love the pig logo; it's so cute LOL. The shop itself is cute too. read more

Might be the best ramen I've had in Seattle so far. We got the Mala Kotteri, Mala Ramen, and Ayam Goreng. You have to get the Kotteri, the broth is super rich and delicious, full of umami. The ayam goreng was crispy and juicy. Much prefer it over Danbo nearby. The interior dining space is kind of small but I think it can get pretty busy. We went around 3:30pm on Sat and got seated with no issues read more

Even with the unusual and unique circumstances, Ooink is still amazing! With COVID19, the only option for supporting Ooink is ordering through their online menu and kits system (https://ordering.app/ooink/). Ordering was super easy and you set up your pick up time. You just have to order a day in advance. Pick up at the restaurant was safe and easy since you pay online. The kit for Mala Kotteri came with everything the ramen normally has: broth, char siu, soft boiled egg, garlic chips, bamboo shoots, green onions, and of course, the fresh noodles!! The flavor was just as good as eating in the restaurant and the spice level for 3 was just as good and consistent! The kit and instructions were easy to follow and the results showed for it. I'll definitely be doing this again! Support your local business! read more

The BEST ramen I have ever had. I actually did not like ramen before coming here, so Ooink definitely changed my life. Your girl is from Southern California and I have yet to find ramen down here that tastes just as bomb! Shoyu Ramen - I was blown away by the quality of their broth. It was so flavorful and it wasn't at all salty. The noodles were cooked perfectly and all the ingredients in this were a great combination. Spicy Koterri - my boyfriend enjoyed his bowl as well. I don't think he's ever tasted ramen quite like this and he has tried multiple ramen places back home! He agrees that the broth was also flavorful! Ayam Goreng - Fried chicken. A bit on the spicy side but doable for someone that doesn't eat spicy! Wouldn't skip this :) Reserve your seats through yelp! This place is tiny but man you won't want to miss hidden gem. Great service as well! read more

Finally got to try this place after so much anticipation. I got Kotteri ramen and my friend got spicy ramen. We also got extra seaweed and a side of fried chicken to share. I thought Ooink was just ok. The broth was decent but nothing memorable. For the high prices, I thought have had much better experience eating elsewhere. What also disappointed me was the fried chicken. It was so heavily spiced that it was kinda hard to chew and I felt was too brown from frying :(. I much rather prefer the karaage chicken than the ones they served here. Personally, we didn't finish the chicken and I had some leftover in my ramen bowl as well. We still had room in our stomachs, so we went elsewhere for dessert and for a catchup at a cafe nearby instead. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried this place. But I definitely prefer Kizuki to this one and prolly would choose to try other ramen places nearby instead of coming back here anytime soon again. read more

Phenomenal ramen. The chef and his wife work very hard to make the best ramen they can. This is not a chain- It is a family business, and if you eat there when the chef is in the kitchen he will probably come and ask you how you like it, and he's sincere. He is always trying to make the food even better, and I think he would probably do anything he can to accommodate you. They make a long-simmered, rich broth, they ferment sauces and toppings, and they make their own excellent noodles. Every component is high quality. You couldn't do this yourself at home without a lot of time and expense. Personally I am always torn between ordering the spicy kotteri and the regular kotteri, so I alternate between them. The regular kotteri is my ideal black garlic tonkotsu style ramen, with the rich pork stock, liberal use of black garlic oil, garlic chips, bamboo shoots.. Also, their soy sauce eggs have the perfect jammy-soft yolk every single time. Nailed it. The spicy "ma la" kotteri is a special. You can request this one very spicy. Instead of black garlic oil on top, it uses a house special chili oil with Sichuan pepper. If you like Sichuanese food, you will love this. It is addictive. Ooink also has Malyasian fried chicken, ayam goreng, instead of the karaage you're used to at most ramen places. This reflects the chef's Malaysian heritage. Believe me, the chicken is incredible, full of lemongrass and curry leaves and other great flavors. I highly recommend Ooink. COVID-19: Also, since I'm writing this review during the time of COVID-19, I want to add that they have the best take-out ramen system that I've seen. I've had ramen from a few places during the shutdown, but Ooink's is by the far the best, because they're doing "ramen kits." When you order take-out ramen at most places, they will cook the noodles and then put them in a container to transport and eat later. This really makes no sense and doesn't result in the best noodle texture. Ooink, on the other hand, gives you the broth and toppings and a package of raw noodles, with instructions for how to cook them yourself (boiling noodles is not hard). If you heat up the broth and boil the noodles yourself, you get a bowl of ramen at home that is identical what you can get at the restaurant. They're super nice and if you live close enough, they will deliver it right to you for free. This is a local business truly worth supporting. I'm attaching a recent photo of some kotteri ramen that I made for lunch at home using their ramen kit. It's not really take-out, it's more like making it to order, due to their great system. read more
Came here for lunch with a buddy and I thought it was pretty darn good. It's located on the upper level above QFC off Broadway & Pike and next door to Marination Station, so just go towards that. We got there a little before noon so we were lucky that it wasn't busy just yet. Pretty much seat yourself style, small dining room, tables mainly built for parties of 2 ,so if you come as a group....good luck with that. Not a huge menu so we just picked some something and started with the Gyoza, it was pretty good, nicely pan fried, on the smaller size, you get 6 per order, comes with some dipping sauce, filling was tasty and really got the motors going for our ramen bowls. As for my ramen bowl, I got the Kotteri Ramen because I felt like eating a rich broth. Broth is dark probably from the black garlic, comes with chashu pork chunks and I luckily got some generous chunks in mines, good amount of bamboo shoots, and half an egg. Forgetting a few other items in the bowl but overall it was mighty tasty and fulfilled the craving. It was flavorful, garlicky, noodles were slurp worthy and I enjoyed my lunch. My buddy had no complaints and enjoyed his more basic bowl, Shoyu Ramen and talked about coming back for lunch more often. Service was fine, one gal seemed to work the entire room so she was hustling back & forth. Friendly with greetings and leavings. Prices are pretty standard for lunch and for a ramen bowl. As the weather turns cooler, Ill be back again. Oh.....they have aprons you can wear so the slurp juices don't ruin your shirt. read more

Summary: tasty and unique ramen, excellent service This is a casual place, where you order food at the counter and it's brought to your table when ready. The interior is a little small (30 seats) and we did not have to wait too long for the food. The prices here are very fair, and the meal leaves you feeling very satisfied. The service here is excellent. We ordered the gyoza and when it arrived, our server told us that 1 was broken and they'd bring us a new one soon. To our surprise, she later brought us a plate of 4 gyoza. The mala ramen was amazing. It's like a unique chinese/japanese fusion. The mala spice pairs really well with the garlic oil and broth. I got a lvl2 spicy, and while it was a pleasant spice level, I think lvl3 would have been manageable as well. The ramen comes with a half egg, which was absolutely delicious. read more

Wanted a hot bowl of ramen so decided to try this place after seeing that they had unique broths. The waitress suggested the mala kotteri and I'm glad she did. The broth was super flavorful and not too spicy. The egg was a perfect soft boiled and I loved the crunchy garlic as a topping. The potstickers were good too. It you are looking for a different twist on a bowl of ramen, this is the place! read more

Pretty average ramen. I got the garlic one and the noodles were thin so the flavor doesn't stay in the noodles like you get with larger noodles. The broth was just ok-not much garlic flavor. The egg was the saving point-so delicious! We got the oolong tea and that was very good. read more
I like the concept and unique flavors, but the execution didn't work for me. My food experience is actually closer to a 2 as I generally prefer thick and wavy noodles over thin and straight, but based on other reviews it seems like you can request the wavy kind so I won't hold that against them. For me, disappointment was instant after the first sip of the broth. It was delicious in taste but LUKE WARM. The temperature threw me off and didn't complement the thin and straight noodles as the noodles were a little tough and not chewy. I get that they're going for al dente, but it just didn't work for me. The pork chasu was good but honestly I think I got two slices? I was fishing in my soup to see if there were more under the noodles. Felt a little light in portions. That said the rest of the toppings were excellent and they did a decent job with the soft boiled egg! Given its proximity and unique menu, I wouldn't mind stopping by again, but there are better ramen options out there in Seattle. read more

Can sesame allergies be accommodated?
Hi, all the bamboo contains sesame oil. and vegetarian miso ramen contains sesame dressing on the veg topping.
Are the vegetarian ramens also vegan? Curious if they are served with egg and if the corn butter is made with real butter. thanks!
You can get it without the egg and butter to make it vegan.
What's the base of the vegetarian broth?
Website and menu says kombu, shiitake, dry dates.
Are paleo or gluten free options available?
Sorry we do not. Only gluten free we have a Ayam goreng.
