Massamun Curry
Rickard S.

My first visit to On's Thai Kitchen was a pleasant surprise. I was on my way to another retailer down the street and passed by OTK. I went in for lunch. A lengthy menu of edibles and also a sizable cocktail menu. Setting aside the cocktail menu I chose the Massamun Curry. It had the vegetable and flavors I was looking for. Many protein choices available in this sweet and sour curry. I chose the imitation crab. The waitress asked for a spice level on a scale of 1-10 and I chose 5. It did not disappoint. The curry was flavorful, the chunks of potatoes, onion and crab large. The pineapple provided the touch of sweetness. The curry included a side of white rice. It was mid-afternoon when I visited. The restaurant was not crowded, but apparent to me that it was a favorite of those who were dining there. I chose my own dining location and picked a spot along the windows which featured bench seats with chairs on the otherside of the table. Personally I thought the tables were a bit too far away from the bench on my side. When I visit again I will choose a booth or another table where I can pull myself closer to the table. I learned later On's is the favorite of a friend of mine who also orders the same curry. Highly recommend this spot for flavorful Thai food.

On's is a great little local Thai spot that we love to visit for some casual curry and Thai tea. Unassuming from the outside, the inside is painted a deep red with dim lighting and an array of comfy booths that give each meal an intimate and cozy vibe. The servers are very kind but sometimes seem a little overwhelmed, the food does take quite some time to come out and our drink order was mixed up last visit but the food is delicious and it's still absolutely worth the visit - just plan ahead for timing if you're trying to to make a match at the soccer stadium or a concert at Turf Club.

Nam khao Crispy rice salad with pork sausage and lettuce wrap

Take out/delivery order review. The nam Khao (crispy curry rice salad with pork sausage) is out of this world!! ! I've never had this dish before and boy have I been missing out. Ordered medium-hot. Wasn't too bad on the spice, I could have probably ordered up one level. The dish is so tangy and flavorful with delicious textures. Don't sleep on this one!!

Finally made it to On's Thai. First of all I have to say that the stuffed chicken leg is so unique and so good! I'm thinking it must be quite a process however it is totally worth it. This looks like a chicken leg. You can pick it up and eat it or eat it with a fork and knife. The outside skin is crispy. The inside is diced chicken, mushrooms and noodles. Really tasty. We also ordered their chicken pad thai, drunken noodles, panang curry and of course some wontons. Their chicken pad thai was solid. I really like anything with rice noodles so their drunken noodles was a hit. The panang curry was rich and had great depth, however had too much ginger for my taste and how can you go wrong with deep fried cream cheese goodness. Happy to have finally tried On's Thai. Looking forward to trying more dishes and getting some more of those stuffed chicken legs.

Pad Prik On - Spicy Chicken Stir-Fry

I was recommended to try On's by a friend who loves Thai food. I don't venture towards St. Paul often - but I finally ordered takeout today. First off - I love spicy dishes - so I was excited by the spice range. I typically hear of "1-5" with 5 being "Thai hot" at most places. On's has two additional levels - Thai Hot Hot and Hot Hot Hot. I'll admit it... I chickened out and only did the "Thai Hot Hot" because I had never been before. The flavor of the dish was great and the heat was there, but I definitely think I could've handled the highest. Anytime I go Thai I target something with a combo of peppers, onion, and jalapeños. I don't think I've ever had this specific dish before - but I didn't find any mushrooms or jalapeños in what I received. The jalapeños missing may explain why I wasn't feeling the heat. Overall this place is great! I think I need to give it another try and maybe eat at the restaurant.

This time we shared our two favorites from the last time (red curry shrimp and ginger chicken), and added roasted duck. Also shared spring rolls. That sauce with the duck! Mmmm. The red shrimp curry seemed like a smaller portion than the other dishes and less than our last visit, but everything was sooo flavorful. Definitely one of the best Thai food places we've enjoyed anywhere.

Pad See Ew with Chicken

On's has my one of favorite pad see ew dishes. It's SO good! You get a large portion and it's always piping hot, which I love. Nothing is worse than luke warm food. I also had the fried chicken egg rolls, which are also amazing. They were crispy and the mixture of chicken and noodles are so tasty. Our server was so friendly and happy. It wasn't very busy the night we were in, so the food came super fast. I will for sure go back.

Laab Gai

There were no authentic lao flavor in this dish what so ever. It was overly sour and sweet. Would no recommend ordering this dish. Way over priced for the portion.

wonton

TOGO ORDER The interior beautiful. The parking is an issues as how small it is and tough it was to get around. Service was fairly average for wait times since it was a lunch rush, no biggie. Wonton soup is more on the sweeter side. I do like how filling their wontons are because most places would provide wonton with wrapper over meat Tom yum was veryyyyy delicious. If you like your soup more on the stronger sour and savory side. This place is for you because the lime leaves were a hit. They're also no shy with the amount of tofu they provided. I was about to have enough for lunch and save some for later! I will definitely be requesting it to be creamy next time because I am curious to how it'll taste. Pad Thai was perfect. Not overly sweet and the perfect savory taste. Shrimps were over cooked, but other than that all was mouth blowing. FOR MY SPICY LOVERS, I had the TomYum spice level Hot and still added their thai chilies in for and extra kick. Hopefully that helps give you can idea how spicy it is because I can handle and LOOVEE spicy will definitely be dining in sometime soon

Khao Ka-Mu

This place has some of the best Thai food I've tried and it never disappoints! The parking can be a little bad as the spots are very tight so it might be a struggle for bigger cars or if the lot fills up. It can get pretty busy during dinner but the couple times I went for lunch usually has spots open. The pad Thai is one of my favorites. It is so flavorful with a combination of salty and sweet. The portion is pretty big as well so it is very filling. The spice level I got was a 3 on a scale of 1-10. I didn't find mine to be very spicy but I do know they don't play around with spice so don't go too high if you can't handle it. We also got a khao ku mu which had a very flavorful pork and delicious soup. I found the sauce on the veggies to be a little too overpowering but overall was a good dish. I will say that the dishes can be a little too salty and overwhelming if you're not someone that likes salty foods, but it works well for someone like me. I think the interior has character to it. Not the best design, but I think it slays with the random pictures everywhere.

On's Thai Kitchen's food will always be on point! Staff are super friendly! Can't wait to go back!

Ask the Community - On's Thai Kitchen

Do more local Thai people eat here or at Bangkok Thai Deli? Also would like to find out if they have small portion of Tom Yum soup during lunch because it is normally served family style and too much for 1 person, anyone know? Thanks.

One thing I really appreciate is how clearly they label gluten-free and vegetarian options. The menu is packed with choices for different dietary restrictions. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted and full of bold, authentic flavor. My go-to favorites are the pad thai, green curry, drunken noodles, Thai fried rice, yellow curry, and the spring rolls, they truly never miss. In terms of food, there is a mixture of Burmese, Thai, and Karen dishes, and each one that my friends and I have ordered has been a hit. The tea leaf salad has amazing texture because of peanuts and fried garlic, which provide crunchiness, and has amazing flavor because of lemon juice, fish sauce, and tomatoes. The noodle salad has a light taste without adding the given lime piece, and then the rich nutty taste gets evoked and elevated upon adding lime juice. The zaap crispy has very well-seasoned fried chicken pieces, and medium spice level gives it a good amount of flavor. The shan khao soi is so creamy and tasty that even tasting the curry broth itself is a sensational experience, and the chicken leg included literally has "fall off the bone" meat. The boat noodle has a mixture of sweetness and savor, while the sweet flavor does not overpower anything at all. Finally, the mohinga clearly has fish cake flavor and texture fully infused, making it authentically delicious. We also ordered the knyaw iced salad, which was a mixture of ice along with crackers and other types of sweet ingredients. I thought it was very similar to a type of Vietnamese dessert called chè ba màu (three color pudding), and fully enjoyed it. The establishment only had one dessert, and I thought that was sufficient. While the street contains many excellent restaurants, I personally believe that this establishment stands out in terms of taste. I must also mention that since my friends and I arrived when barely anyone else was there each time we had gone there, we never experienced any service delays that some have mentioned in their reviews. I probably will give this place a 5 rating anyway even if I experience slowness, although I hope I don't.
