What a hidden gem that I found ! Ok, if you understand what real sushi and Japanese food taste like, you will love this. However, if you are searching for the Americanize teriyaki , California rolls, and saucy spider rolls, this is not for you. This Japanese restaurant specializes in hand rolls, sushi and nigiri and they even make their own soy sauce and miso soup. It's for the people that loves and enjoy fresh clean sushi. We ordered the set that cost $55 that comes with all kind of nigiri's,sushi and hand rolls. It's absolutely delish and plated cleanly and up-class. I could taste the little details of stuff they added to the rice, the fish, the soy sauce and even the edamame. The edamame is not your typical sea salt , but it has salmon powder and it taste yuzu over it. This place brings in the Japanese culture with providing a wet towel for your hand before eating, Japanese miso soup with a lid and it reminds the time I'm in Japan. By eating their food, I can tell that the chef put love and effort on creating This menu and I really appreciate it. This is totally a vibe that you will want to bring you foodie friends and to impress the awesome Japanese food in Temecula. The toro..blue fin hand rolls..the maguru fuke(aged marinated tuna) , halibut, sea balls with a hint of yuzu on it..absolutely gorgeous. Services could be a bit better since we have to keep asking for water, ginger and soy sauce , but overall, they did their job and they are friendly . Really good Onori , really good. I'm impressed
Simply the best sushi experience in the area hands down. Making a reservation is really a must here even on a weekday night as they have a lot of walk in business. This area of the mall has already some of fav food so this just adds to it This is like the very popular Sugar Fish style in OC. Basically your best bet is taking one of the omakase sets. I've been here three times now and I'll say while the food is consistent the service is not. Some of the servers can't explain the food like others do but this is a small issue that I hope they fix otherwise this is an amazing find in the wine country area that's use to rather generic sushi rolls with a ton of sauce to drown it in. This is nigiri to a very level and everything is worth trying
Excellent foods and services Onori provided a good sushi bar experience!! They offers some combo set for sushi hand rolls!! I did ordering the 5 hand rolls on sushi bar!! Each roll was so greasy, tasty n delicious!! Plus the pricing was really fair n not too expensive .... Because I was so hungry, I ordered another Toro cut roll on the side. Toro meat was smashed inside the roll, tasted like butter!! There are several menu including tasting menu, Al la carte items and some set menu!! Providing all kinds of customers, I will definitely recommend this sushi bar!! Nice n grooming by those Japanese ladies sushi chefs!!
The hand rolls here are the best in town I want to gate keep this but I also want them to be profitable so I can keep coming here lol! Reminds me of the hand rolls I had in Manhattan Temaki style very fresh and crispy seaweed and good quality fish. I love the shrimp tempura and crab hand roll it's like the perfect combination. I am always a fan of the spicy soft shell crab hand roll. As far as fish go I am a fan of the Toro roll it's the perfect flavor combo. Don't forget to order yuzu ponzu to dip everything in it just takes the rolls to the next level. This is more of a place for people who like raw fish because not too many options of cooked items. My husband doesn't do too much sushi he normally gets the waygu nigiri and gyoza as well as the blue crab roll. Recently he has been into the seared kings salmon nigiri that is very good. Overall great place to have in Temecula its my treat when I come here even by myself.
Great food and great service! Onori was a pleasant surprise as my fiancé and I stumbled upon it after shopping at the mall. The fish in the hand rolls were fresh, and their yellow tail carpaccio was amazing. Overall, the service from Aaron was great and the establishment was aesthetically pleasing.
I'm shocked I haven't stopped by to try this place before. Hands down best sushi I've had in the past year and unbeatable prices. Parking is plentiful right in front and being seated was a breeze especially before dinner time. When seated, we were served water immediately. The server asked if we intended to drink anything more. We then ordered three large Sapporo beers. We ordered salmon sashimi to start. Then, my fiancé and I ended up ordering the Taste of Onori Menu to share. For $55, we received about 14 items, omokase style: Edamame & Miso Soup Tuna Sashimi (so good as a starter) Albacore Sushi (1 piece) Seared Black Cod Sushi (1 piece) Shima Aji Sushi (1 piece) King Salmon Sushi (1 piece) Toro Handroll Sea bream Sushi (my favorite piece) Halibut Sushi (1 piece) Japanese Yellowtail (1 piece) Hokkaido Scallop (1 piece) Kinme-Dai Sushi (1 piece) Ottoro/Chu-toro (1 piece - phenomenal) Salmon Handroll We weren't full after our shared meal, so we ordered a salmon cut roll. It was one of the best cut rolls I've had and it only had salmon, rice, and seaweed. Food here is magnificent. The servers are quick to take plates away and give more water, if needed. The interior is also very zen and relaxing. It's a beautiful restaurant with fantastic sushi. Again, it was truly amazing sushi and sashimi. I'm delighted to come back again when I have a craving. Truly well done!!
I've had sushi in this area before but nothing tasted quite as good as this. Me and my husband stopped here on a whim after doing some shopping and boy are we glad we did so! It was not too long of a wait at all and a great stop overall for us. Every roll was DELICIOUS. Not only was every single thing good that we tried, but there was a more plentiful amount of fish and nori seaweed sheet than I expected in each hand roll. It made the price worth it for me. The spicy tuna lingered on my tongue in the best way possible and was a sensation of good flavor. The Toro was one of my favorite hand rolls too but the salmon and yellowtail were gooood too! Seriously everything we had was delicious! I also really liked the edamame as an appetizer and palette cleanser. Only $3 and very worth it. The salt on the edamame was super flavorful, like a yuzu salt or something. It was delicious. Staff was also attentive. Moki double checked my order and continued to refill my water the whole time we were there. She was super nice and I'm so glad she was helping to serve us because she made our experience extra special. The vibe here is nice and relaxed. The lounge-like music and chill atmosphere really made it a perfect stop for us when we just wanted to enjoy something good to eat together.

First time here, hubby and I just ordered the hand rolls and they didn't disappoint. I ordered the 5 piece hand roll for $26 and he got the 6 piece one for $30. Honestly I think they're well priced. I always love the crispiness of the seaweed wrapper with freshly wrapped hand rolls :) Excellent service!!! Friendly and attentive! Lots of parking, next to Somisomi.
Tonight was great. We selected our favorites. Sea Bream, Seared Black Cod sushi. Hand rolls- Spicy scallop, soft shell crab and spicy tuna. The nori is crisp and delicious because the rolls are quickly made & served. There's not a lot of fillers in Onori rolls - just perfect rice and fresh fish. On a Saturday at 5pm, very busy & we chose a table over the bar. Service was a little slow because they were full, every seat. We ordered sake & Sapporo & had no problem because their food is worth the wait. Our server took good care of us. Our rolls & sushi were perfect.
Ever since it opened, we've already been back multiple times because the food is that good. I've honestly never had hand rolls like these before, they're even better than most regular sushi restaurants. We've tried the shrimp tempura hand roll, blue crab hand roll, and toro hand roll, and every single one was delicious. Their cucumber salad is fresh and flavorful, and the salmon sashimi is a must-have every visit. The restaurant itself is clean, well put together, service is great at the bar and has a nice casual, cozy vibe.
Ever since it's been opened, I got at least once a month! Been wanting an omakase style restaurant in town and happy there finally is one. The quality of the food, service, and ambiance at this place is amazing. Any chance I've gotten, I take people here to eat at. They end up loving it as well! Whenever I go I always get an order of their crispy rice. It's so cute and the crunch of the crispy rice with the freshness of the tuna always hits the spot. Depending how I feel that day, I usually do their omakase sets. The one pictured in the to-go is their Onori signature set. Not picture is the miso soup it also comes with as well. If you wanna get full and worth the money. I say get the omakase set and one of their appetizers. It always fills me up and leaving happy (whether dine in or Togo)! It's in a lot connected to the mall. There is plenty of parking! There is also a somi somi next door for dessert heh.
This place was so clean and nice. Service took a bit to get to but it was worth it once your food arrived. We tried about every hand roll and each were as amazing as the other. I love that they have ice cold beverages no tap soda but Topo Chico soda water which is my favorite. Can't wait to return amazing quality.
My Mom and I came in on Tuesday around 1 pm for lunch. She's Japanese, and from the moment we both walked in, we were impressed by the sophisticated and understated decor of the restaurant and the clean lines of the beautiful sushi bar. The space is elegant and it is clear that care was taken with the design. We both ordered the "Little Onori" set menu for $28. This was such a fantastic offering and it was delightful to have a meal like this in Temecula! Up until now, there were no other "authentic" sushi places like this unless you drive to San Diego, the OC, or LA. The edamame and Miso soup were a pleasant way to start the meal. We both particularity enjoyed the Black Cod, Sea Bream, and Hokkaido Scallop. So much so that we ordered an extra piece each of the Black Cod and the Sea Bream. Yukiko San provided kind and attentive service and she enhanced the dining experience for us. We will most certainly be back and we are so happy that Onori is here! The most authentic Omakase sushi experience you can find in Temecula! I generally don't indulge on prix fixe sushi options, but you kinda have to at a place like this. The cuts and quality of fish we had were pleasantly fresh and delicious--appropriate for the value. Service was fast and dishes were typically cleared as soon as we finished one portion to make room for the next course. You can sit at the bar and receive your food directly from the chef's hands to your plate, or you can sit at a table in the back. Dare I say, this dining experience probably outshines any other sushi experience in Temecula if you're looking for something more traditional than your typical "California/Crunch rolls". Highly recommend giving Onori a try! read more
My 18 yo daughter who fell in love with sushi since her childhood friend from Japan introduced it to her when they were both age 6 says this is probably the best sushi place she's EVER tried!! She wanted me to stop talking so she could concentrate and savor the freshness, texture and flavor of every bite. Enough said, LOL! She ordered the chu toro nigiri (melts in your mouth, great temperature contrast with warm rice and cool fish which was unfamiliar yet delicious) and the spicy soft-shell crab hand cut rolls (which were crunchy, perfectly salted, with sweet rice, and packed with flavor. It was clearly extremely fresh, so much so that the nori was still crisp). We'll be back very soon!!! Warm service, modern decor. read more

Yuki was our server and she is wonderful! We had a wonderful conversation with her while enjoying the food. Food: Little Onori set Oh my god, I felt like I went back to Japan the first moment I stepped in. The food is amazing, it's been so long since I have seen salmon this orange and fresh. Best Sushi in Temecula Valley? While I haven't been to every sushi place in the area, my new favorite place is now Onori, bar none. From the moment when you take step into the door, you will feel at home in the contemporary yet Japanese decor. And once you bite into the sushi, you will be pleasantly surprised. We came on a Saturday night, the sushi bar was full of, but the rest of the dining had a few open tables. So service was quick and attentive. The restaurant, started by a chef that used to own another such restaurant in the area before closing down is a true master of the cuisine, and I can tell you this because the food did not disappoint. So what did we order? Onori Signature Set Menu. At $40, this is decently priced when you consider all of the items on this omakase-style set. There are three such sets to choose from, and this is the mid-range-priced one, and it includes 8 nigiri, two temaki (traditionally cone-shaped, these are cigar-shaped hand rolls), and one tuna sashimi. Also included see miso soup and edamame. The edamame came with some salt topping, which wasn't bad but not my favorite. First sushi course was the tuna sashimi with soy and ponzu, which is a fresh starter that I kept on the side to keep my palate refreshed. This technique allowed me to sample the sashimi, which comes in sets of 4 on two plates, each piece made of better ingredients than your typical sushi joint -- and better put together than them, too! First plate had (eaten properly in order with the best (tuna) for last): seared black cod (with ponzu and chives, the rice was nice and warm), salmon (complemented perfectly win toasted sesame), shima aji (good prep for the tuna with its refreshingly bright lemon salt and wasabi), and albacore tuna (good finish to this plate with a ponzu and chives). Next came the toro hand roll (my fave) filled with delicious fattiest tuna belly, which dipped in soy sauce to give some extra salty goodness. Then came the second nigiri plate: (eaten in this order) seabream (so soft but with a light bit of lemon and salt), yellowtail (chewier but full of delicious yuzu ponzu), halibut (surprisingly good with a nice detour of flavor in the truffle soy, which you can certainly taste), and the chutoro (fattier tuna, which felt was somewhat melt-in-your-mouth, which was fantastic). The set finished with the blue crab temaki, which is a surprisingly creamy and sweet way to top the meal off. Overall, this set was a good value for the amazing quality and execution, which might go for double in Orange County. The rice was excellent the way that true sushi rice should be, where it's not mushy like in most sad sushi restos(or too hard); and here you can feel each individual grain of perfectly cooked and vineyard rice. Each nigiri was seasoned in the fish or rice with special care and craft, getting the amount seemingly for each bite. Definite recommend if you're hungrier than the smaller set, but not quite as much for the next size up. Gyoza. Sadly, the one dish I didn't care too much for since these are deep fried rather than pan fried. Appears to be beef though and not pork. Good if you prefer crunch all over instead of crispy on one side. Spicy Tuna Makizushi. Maybe the best rendition of a classic roll, the tuna is nice and creamy with just the right amount of wasabi and green onions. Recommend this one since the wife gave me the nod after the first bite and I concurred wholeheartedly. Amazing rice as I mentioned earlier. So was it worth it? Heck yes! And they even got the new Somi Somi for dessert right next store. Was our first time here, and we enjoyed it. Best bang for your buck sushi at top notch level. I would say this is actually on par with Morimoto's in Vegas, which is the best sushi I've had. We will definitely be back and have a seat at the very long sushi bar next time. This place just opened but they did not disappoint. The fish is so fresh here! The chu toro literally melted in my mouth. The Spicy Softshell crab Handroll was BUSSIN BUSSIN. The nori is from Japan so it was crispier and more flavorful. Everything I got was literally soooo good! I can't way to come back. Service was great, the servers were very attentive. Great ambience inside with chill music and minimalist decor! 10/10 I highly recommend! read more

I'd rate this place around a 6-6.5. It wasn't bad.. I've just had better. The fish was good, just not the freshest I'm used to. Overall, it's a pretty average sushi spot. I'd still recommend others give it a try, but I personally wouldn't come back since I like my handrolls fresh fresh. The place were clean and service was good. read more
I normally do not care too much for omakase as I can never find myself being full/still being hungry following the meal, and to be completely honest, this one is not different either. However, for the price you pay, you do get some pretty good quality fish for the area. What's nice about this place is that they can accommodate large parties, which was a nice plus compared to some of the other omakase places I have gotten to try. I personally had their Signature Set Menu for 40$, which came with 11 different sushi's and rolls along with Miso Soup. My personal favorite was the Toro, but the quality of each of the fish was nice and fresh. The service was also a pleasant plus and was able to serve all of us very quickly and efficiently. A nice addition to the Temecula area if you are looking for a high quality omakase place. read more
Second time here and wanted to give a review after this visit. First of all, glad that we have a handroll bar in town coz it's one of my fave way of eating sushi. Everytime I go to LA, I always try to stop by Unomi and Saijo just to name a couple. Love the ambiance this place as they have a nice bar sitting area and a few tables towards the back. In these 2 times, I've been here was for lunch on Sunday after church and we were seated pretty quick. So here's the reason why I'm only rating them 3 stars (and that's why I waited to give a review after my 2nd visit to make sure my first impression was an outlier). But for both visits, my experience was the same and here's the reason for my rating (and I hope the sushi chef will make some adjustments). 1. In terms of the quality of fish in their ala carte sushi and set menus, everything is fresh and top notch. 2. Here's why I'm rating them 3 stars is the quality of rice they make for their sushi. It's very mushy and breaks apart easily when you pick it up with your chopsticks. This may sound very minor for a lot of people but for Japanese sushi chefs, it's a very critical component coz it serves as the base. When I went to Japan, a lot of the chefs there even consider the quality of rice more important than the fish (which I understand coz I think they know that the quality of fish they get in Japan is top notch). The rice or Shari, is the foundation of every piece of sushi. It should be made to perfection with the right texture, flavor that complements the fish. And sadly, the couple of times I've visited Onori, their sushi rice is far from perfection. Other than this, I'm very impressed!! So I hope my honest review will give the sushi chef an opportunity to make some adjustments to the quality of their sushi rice!! I'm still going to be a regular customer but I hope to see an improvement on my next visit!! read more

I love sushi and that's an understatement. I came to Onori expecting a nice sushi night out and got something completely different. I was welcomed by Chris the owner. The sushi was delivered in stages allowing us to enjoy each phase. It was perfect without extra soy, sauces or anything else to dip into. Just pick up and put it in your mouth and melt in the moment of flavor melting in your mouth. read more
The ambiance was really nice! The menu reminded me a lot like sugarfish but closer to home and affordable too. We got the little Onori to try. The scallop and toro handroll were my favorite. The waitress we had that day was very attentive to us. The best part is that it's right next to somisomi too! read more

I can't believe we have a handball sushi place here in Temecula. Everything here is so fresh. I came here on a rainy Saturday and they were packed but everyone's food came out so quickly. The owner personally tasted everything and all of the employees were watching and learning from her. The work ethic is so admirable. They've only been open for 4 months, please come and support local! read more
With so many subpar sushi places in town, I was not expecting much when we dined at Onori for the first time last night. Wow, was I surprised! We were greeted by a friendly gentleman who made sure we were seated promptly. The sushi bar was packed, but there were a few tables available. Our server was friendly and patient while we decided on our order. She also explained the set menus to us. My husband had the Taste of Onori and I had the Little Onori, both came with a small serving of edamame and a piping hot miso soup. Our server brought neat little plates out and described what each piece of sushi was. This was the freshest, most melt-in-your- mouth sushi I've had. My husband and I both loved this place. I am so happy there is a Handroll bar in Temecula now. This is located in the big shopping center circle loop. I suggest sitting at the bar , the bar has a special set Handroll specials. I did the six piece set , it was a great price. The service was great, very attentive and quick. I will definitely be coming back here again. The sushi was fresh, i enjoyed the scallop roll the most. read more

New restaurant. Opened about 2 months ago. Good first impression. Good service. Great prices for the amount and quality. I went for lunch and sat at the bar. You can only order the hand rolls at the bar. I ordered Onori Signature Set Menu and crispy rice spicy tuna . My sweets - The sushi was fresh. Some of my favorite pieces of were seared black cod, albacore sushi, toro hand roll and o- toro. One of my favorite crispy rice spicy tunas. The rice was on the thinner side and nice heaping amount of spicy tuna. My sour - the rice fell apart easily and some of the pieces lacked a little flavor even when enhancing it with soy sauce and wasabi. I will definitely come back. read more

So, when there's an opportunity for me to try sushi, sashimi, etc., I'm going to get it. Heard about Onori and since I was near the mall, stopped in to try it out. One word...amazing!!! Started off with a smooth Japanese lager (Koshihikari Echigo) and the awesome Crispy Spicy Tuna appetizer. I then ordered the 3-Hand Roll entrée (spicy tuna, shrimp tempura/blue crab, and bay scallops). You gotta try this place. read more

Small space with a big punch! By far the BEST Sushi spot in town!! Comfortable spot alone or with friends. I sat at the bar. Service is PHENOMENAL!! Very friendly and great conversation with owner. There is no comparison in the Valley. Not even close. This is real sushi. Coming from San Diego and Los Angeles, I always felt Temecula Valley didn't have top tier sushi available anywhere. Until now. Chris does it right. His experience shows and his love for his craft is experienced in every bite, every roll. His sauce pairings are unique and compliments the each individual piece. This place was amazing! My partner and I both got the signature sets and it genuinely blew us away! You could tell that everything served was made with care and precision. Our favorite was the seared cod :) Not to mention nothing needed to be added, not even soy sauce! Our server was so sweet and gave us great recommendations I wish I got his name!! Great new place in Temecula. If you ever stop by and have an opportunity to sit at the bar, do it! I think it's what makes the experience. We tried a variety of their hand rolls, nigiri, and rolls. The quality of the fish is unmatched- it truly melts in your mouth! The staff were very nice and it was really cool to watch all the chefs prepare sushi in front of you. Onori is a sushi restaurant fittingly right next to Somi Somi (an Asian Ice Creamery). It is a small and humble restaurant. I read great reviews beforehand and was excited to try it. I was hoping for some stellar sushi close to home. Unfortunately I do not think Onori's food was exceptional. I would say it was mid level, and even a little sub par. It looked like the sushi cuts were made with a dull knife. Sushi options are a bit plain. Miso soup was lacking some salt, and my partner was turned off by the sushi when he found something hard and crunchy in his blue crab sushi roll (perhaps it was a piece of shell). The chairs had a good amount of food stuck in the crevasses and there was food stains splattered on the wall next to us. As a brand new restaurant I was expecting more tidiness. The service was great, I was just looking for more from the food. Maybe the prior reviews set me up to expect higher standards? read more

All the sushi was fresh and delicious. They had a set menu for different tiers and I got the lowest but was definitely enough for one person! My favorite so far was the Hokkaido Uni! The staff was very kind and attentive. It was such a nice experience. I will definitely come back! read more
