Uneven polish and crooked shaped nail
    Brittany W.

I needed a quick pedicure and had one done here before. It was fine. Today's service- not good. The quality is low and the tech told me the reason she shaped my nail crooked is because my cuticle is uneven. That does not even make sense. Sloppy polish application and shaping. Cleanliness standards need to be upped. If a nail tool falls on the floor- Immediately dispose. Do not put it back on the tray with the other tools. Gross! The owner is disappointing. They seem bitter about a 3 star review. Well now it is a 1 star review. Boom! I have used the same name for all my appointments. I did use my new phone number for my appointment today though. Seeing as I am a Black woman with locs- Of course I am memorable. Vancouver is primarily white. The only time I did not pay for a service is when the gel manicure was undeniably bad- really really bad to where they quickly just said I didn't need to pay. Since then, I've gone elsewhere for manicures. I thought a simple pedicure would be easy enough to not mess up. Guess not.

Nail tips too big, shapes not the same, terrible design
    Gendilyne A.

I went to this nail salon because of the good reviews & pictures. I called ahead and they said the price of a full set would be $55. So I show up and ask for a double French tip with an almond shape, which seemed simple compared to the pictures I've seen on their reviews. They started taking my old acrylics off by buffing off the top layer & after that, they used nail clippers with the pointy end and ripped the nails off, which is super damaging. (Ouch!) while ripping my nail off, I start to bleed. I wanted to get up right then and leave, but I can tell she was nervous & I felt bad. I'm sitting there bleeding and in pain so another lady came over to help and she buffed that nail instead of trying to rip it off. NOT ONCE DID THEY STOP TO CLEAN THE BLOOD. I'm in beauty school and we learned the importance of infection control/safety and sanitation and they did not follow protocol. They slapped some superglue on top and then proceeded to tell me that it's because my nails were "too thin" . They buffed my nails and tried ripping off the acrylic with nail clippers, of course it's thin now. Then she had me soak my hands in a bag full of acetone which isn't the correct way to remove acrylics. You're supposed to soak a cotton round, put it on the nail and cover with foil.. I have extremely dry skin and the acetone dried my hands out.. (you can see in the picture). She then started buffing my nails again and they were all stinging and burning (ring of fire). She was starting the full set but she didn't bother sizing the acrylic nail tip to my finger, she just put superglue and guessed which size to use and they're too big for my fingers. She put globs of superglue on my whole finger rather than the tip and the glue spread all over the bed of my finger nails and got underneath. I wanted to get up and leave but I saw the lady shaking so I let her continue. I changed my double French tip to a plain thin red French tip to make it easier. I just wanted to get out. She didn't know how to do it herself so another girl had to do it, which was fine but the final product was awful. Fast forward to the end result. They're uneven and crooked, the nail tips are too big, the shapes aren't even the same. there's a bunch of glue still under the nails & the design I wanted was simple but turned out not great on top of that it was $80! I've never paid that much for nails before in my life. it's day 3 and they're already lifting and the finger that bled still hurts! I paid for it because I felt bad but I really feel like I was jipped. I'm in the service industry as well and I guess I just know the feeling of being too anxious to do a service and I really hoped she could surprise me with an amazing result! It's my fault for not speaking up sooner but I'm really upset with this. If you want great quality service, don't come here. EDIT: I called the spa and expressed my concern and they told me to come in. A worker told me she could put one more coat on it & it would be fine. I told her no I want my money back because I'm not happy with them. I spoke to the owner Tina on the phone and she was understanding and apologetic about the experience and said they could give the refund. Then the nail tech grabbed my hands and stacked them on top of one another and took a picture. This upset me because I didn't give her permission. Completely unprofessional customer service.

Great and fast service! They are all nice and it's a very clean place. The polish and gel options are many, which is important to me as I'm very indecisive. :)

I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews but BIG YIKES…read more Absolutely Horrific Experience--Avoid at All Costs! If I could give this place negative and/or zero stars, I would. I walked into this empty nail salon, which should have been my first red flag, but I figured, hey, maybe it's just a slow day. Nope--it was a slow business because this place is a nightmare. First, I was sat in a broken chair that wobbled like it was about to collapse. No menu, no options--just straight to faking the funk of work. The pedicure itself lasted less than 9 minutes (yes, I timed it), and for $60, I expected at least some level of care. IInstead, the technician hacked away at my nails so aggressively that I started bleeding profusely--like, actual blood dripping down my foot. My toenails have been bleeding over a week........And do you think the nail tech acknowledged it? Nope. No apology, no effort to stop the bleeding, just a complete ice out before moving on to the next tragedy. I was in pain, bleeding, and stuck with a nail color I hated. When I politely mentioned I was bleeding and didn't like the color, I was completely ignored. Like I wasn't even there. No fix, no concern--just blank stares. When I mentioned the broken chair, no help. I was sincerely the only customer. It was disgusting. As if this horror show wasn't enough, they rushed me out like I was some kind of inconvenience, assuming I didn't have the money to pay for my service ....mmmMind you, there were still no other customers in the building, so what was the rush?? Maybe they knew they did a terrible job and didn't want to deal with the aftermath. Tbh I'm not sure but I was deeply repulsed regardless. Long story short: this place is an absolute joke. Do yourself (and your toes) a favor and go literally anywhere else. I'm grateful they let me know that my business isn't wanted here. Never again bro.

I'm a new mom and 2 months postpartum and was looking forward to finally getting my hair cut!…read more I'm unfortunately extremely disappointed in my haircut experience here. I booked with Hannah online and mentioned I have thick long hair and wanted a chop for summer. I've never been to this salon before, but know from past experience it's important to note thick hair while booking. Their online booking system requires the stylist to "okay" the appointment, so someone must have seen the note about thick hair. At other salons, most stylists will see the note and book out an extra 45 mins..or call to reschedule with an additional block of time. This never happened and lead to maybe the worst salon experience I've ever had? Hannah started cutting my hair, and was a quarter way through before she mentioned I'd have to leave with wet hair due to time constraints. I wish she would have been honest and up front and I would have rescheduled or found a new salon for a cut that would include a blow dry + style. She shampooed my hair for less than 4 minutes and everything just felt so rushed! I was expecting to see another client waiting for her but that was not the case. I was in and out of the salon in less than an hour. She gave me her card so I could contact her if the layers dried funny or looked bad...so off I left with wet hair and a potential hack job of a haircut. I don't recommend this place, I got in my car and cried. I expect to leave a salon feeling beautiful and that just didn't happen!

Nail Salon Horror Story (Perfection Nails 9/7)…read more I've been going to Perfection Nails in Hazel Dell on and off for about the last 5 years, but I stopped going as often since every time I went, each tech charged differently for the same service and the quality was inconsistent--especially if I wanted something other than a basic one-color manicure. Anyway, I decided to go yesterday because it was the only nail salon open near me, and I'd never had a crazy experience there before--just things like uneven shaping or needing a fill sooner than 2 weeks. My appointment was at 1 p.m. for both a pedicure and a manicure set. I arrived before my scheduled time and let the technicians know I had an appointment. I waited about 15-20 minutes before a man called me over to his table. I asked for an acrylic set and a basic manicure (cuticle trim, etc.). Everything started off fine. I hadn't had him do my nails before, but I'd seen his work and was excited to try someone new. He started by cleaning my hands and doing the usual prep. Once he finished applying and shaping the acrylic, he began working on my cuticles. When he got to my ring and middle finger on my left hand, he cut way too much, and I started bleeding everywhere. I was on the phone with my partner using a headset, so I wasn't paying close attention until I felt pain and saw blood all over my fingers. He was trying to wipe it up with a used rag and even attempted to use nail glue to stop the bleeding. I immediately told him to stop and said I needed to wash my hands because that was not a clean or safe way to handle the cut. After cleaning up, I noticed he had taken a chunk of skin off, and the bleeding continued for about 10 more minutes. I sat there holding my finger and asked him what happened. He told me my cuticles were dry. I apologized but made it clear I did not want him using nail glue to stop the bleeding. Mind you, this was the most I've ever bled in a salon. After the bleeding stopped, he continued painting my nails and asked me to check them. I noticed the middle finger on my right hand was crooked. When I pointed it out, he insisted it was just my finger. We went back and forth for a while until I finally asked if he could at least try to fix it, because it was clearly pointing in a different direction than the others. At this point, I honestly wanted to leave, but I still needed my pedicure. Another lady called me over to her station. I had previously gone to Reflection Spa/Nails, and they had done an amazing job--even applying acrylic over a broken toenail on my big toe to even it out. I explained this to the pedicure tech at Perfection, and she said it was fine and that she would soak it off. By then, I had already been there for 2 1/2 hours and just wanted to relax. I put a show on my phone, kept one headphone out in case she needed me, and let her start. There was a bit of a language barrier, so another tech had to interpret at times. Instead of soaking the acrylic off, she just filed it down and then started trimming my cuticles. Once again, she cut too much, and I started bleeding. She apologized immediately, and I told her it was okay, just to please slow down and be careful. She continued, but when she was cleaning under my toenail, the tool stabbed me under the nail. At that point, I just wanted to get out of there. I ended up paying for everything but didn't tip because of all the cuts I got. My reason for posting is to find a new nail spot to go to in Vancouver and to spread awareness of my experience. L

I went in for a pedicure, but when offered a mani I got that too…read more I brought my own base/polish/topper because I prefer a specific brand. They are salon quality. "Kathy" used a dremel tool to remove my old fingernail polish. She used my polish and I left with nice nails. After a few days when I removed my polish, I noticed that there were slices and fissures into my nail beds. The dremel tool must have been turned sideways and cut into my nail. Now my nails are breaking off as they grow out and it is painful. This is on both of my ring fingers but more on my right hand than left. I don't usually visit this salon and can't imagine that I will visit again. So disappointed and frustrated that this happened. It will take months to grow out this gauging.
