    a burrito and chips

I'm a huge fan of supporting local businesses so when I saw Oneway on one of the food delivery apps, I decided to order a couple things for breakfast. I tried the breakfast wrap, which I loved and wish it were bigger. The flavors were big though. Inside was cheese, eggs, black beans, bell peppers and corn. It came with chips, but was a little soggy from sitting inside the box. I also tried the avocado Benedict and it was packed with avocado. I hate it when I order something with avocado and they give you slivers. Not this place! The hollandaise sauce was good and I would ask for it on the side next time. It also came with the side salad, which was fresh and help cut the grease. The mushroom soup wasn't my favorite and could be a personal preference. Oneway also has rice bowls, which I will try next time. All in all, I've found a new breakfast place to order from. Delicious!

Wanting to try something new for brunch, I found Oneway Cafe thru a delivery app. While I may have been a little hesitant at first, their menu offered some solid choices that piqued my interest. I ended up getting a smoked salmon benedict with a cream of mushroom soup and a strawberryade. The smoked salmon benedict was fantastic. The hollandaise had a nice tartness to it and the dressing for the salad was delicious. Admittedly, I wasn't too much of a fan of their cream of mushroom soup. Others might find it good, but I was raised on the Campbell's soup version and this is nothing like that. The strawberryade needs instructions. If you don't keep stirring and drink about an inch off the bottom, you're gonna get a burst of strawberry and that's it. So take caution to prevent this by stirring and drinking from the middle! Otherwise, it's was tasty and a nice treat. Give these folks a shot if you're in the area. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Parking is available on the side streets. The dining area is divided into 2 distinct sections. Looks like they took over the adjacent business space and knocked out a doorway. Staff are friendly and cheerful. No complaints. I wasn't sure what to try, so I had the kitchen sink. Might as well try a mix of everything. As per the menu, it was 2 eggs, sautéed red onions, red peppers, kale, green onions, sausage, bacon, cheese, hashbrowns. Reminded me of eating an omelette that fell apart. Decent quality, but honestly nothing really stuck out, especially for the price. This place isn't cheap. Maybe I'll try another dish at some point.

This is also where you hang your key when you leave the house so they know who is here. We got the Under the Apple Tree Room which was spacious and nicely decorated. It even had its own private yard. Also has gas fireplace, jacuzzi style tub and stand up shower. The heated bathroom floor was a nice touch. If you get tired of your room you can also enjoy sitting outside on a deck or the living room. We really enjoyed relaxing on the couch back in our room in front of the fire place. Morning came a bit too soon. Was hard to get up out of the super comfortable down blankets on the King bed. The breakfast was ready though and included three delicious courses. Polenta with almonds, banana kirsch, and smoked salmon with poached egg on toasted croissant. Yum. It is also a fantastic spot to work if you wanna have a café setting because their pastries and bake goods are absolutely fantastic. In fact last year for Christmas, we bought one of their Christmas cake options which proved to be super popular with the family. What I love about this location is the decor. On one side it is a simple industrial warehouse. But it has that post modern feel with all of the live plants. The live plants is what I love and the tall ceiling for the plants to fully grow. Though if they are looking for something else, which could really bring this to the top, it would be to have a fish tank. A fish and or water feature around the massive plant island in the middle of the dinning area would be chefs kiss. Of course, what about the food? From here, I find the food here is excellent. Sometimes the flavour combinations are a little weird. But that's typical for the Vancouver foodie scene. Vancouver food scene is a fusion hybrid of local ingredients mixed with traditions from cultures from other places around the world. But the bottom line is the portions are a good size. The platters in particular are large and would feed a very hungry person. You definitely get your moneys worth. You don't get much table service once you are done with your order. But that is all right because of it size and volume for the amount of people who come through. I am totally happy with the self serve station, which could be enhanced and the large setting with all of the very mature plants. If I would offer advice to anyone it would be this. If you are going to be there on the weekend arrive before 9 AM. People start lining up at 10 to 15 minutes before the store officially opens. Plus I find is easier to take the street parking rather than playing with Faith trying to back out with customers who are not paying attention.

I did get a spoonful of the glorious whipped cream on top of my daughter's mango croissant. $8.50 Heaven. We thought it was worth every penny! The only gluten free item they offered on this day was a chocolate walnut brownie. Rich and pretty satisfying! We didn't mind a bit waiting for our specialty lattes but the flavors were underwhelming. Snow Velvet Latte $6.20 Double shot espresso, regular milk, vanilla syrup, velvet cream, cocoa dusting. My iced 16 ozs dark chocolate mocha was also not a memorable one. In spite of the unsatisfying lattes and lack of GF items, I'm still fond of the energy that fills in this cafe so I'll probably return.

The fruit was actually a good portion and decent selection of blueberries, strawberries, banana and grapes. A couple of very small overripe pieces of kiwi were thrown in but I've seen worse for a kids meal. Food came out after a short wait. Missing from the plates was butter for the toast and waffles, so I'm not sure if they don't usually provide it or they forgot it. The over-easy eggs were more over-medium and the potatoes tasted a bit off to me, but I was full anyway, so I just left them. The restaurant was a bit cold so we ate with our coats on for most of the time. Would be nice if they raised the temperature by 1-2 degrees so it's more comfortable on colder days. Service was mostly ok but our server asked us when we were still halfway through our meals if we wanted anything else and when we said we were good, she did not come back until we flagged her down for the bill. Maybe she was new, but servers should still check on customers for refills of coffee, hot water for tea, etc. Coffee is $3.25 and I did not get a refill due to the disappearing server, so it was quite pricey for one small cup. The meals were ok but for the price, I'd sooner go elsewhere for a better overall experience.

Included is a Summer Corn salad, choice of entree, and daily dessert. I made a reservation for my Mom and I for Wednesday evening at 7pm and the restaurant was quite empty though golf course was buzzing. Pro tip: There is free parking in front of the restaurant but it's also for the golf course and is pretty busy even on a Wednesday after 7pm so plan accordingly as street parking is a bit far away. We ordered the mussels as an additional appetizer in white wine broth and also each ordered the $45 menu. We both selected the Oven Roasted Beef Striploin and for dessert there was a choice of cheesecake with caramel sauce, cinnamon cheesecake, and black forest cake. My Mom chose the black forest cake and I ordered the cinnamon cheesecake. The mussels appetizer dish was quite generous in quantity for $23 and mussels were a good size. Served with 2 slices of toast, the white wine sauce was more watery than other places but still decent. For the $45 course, the Summer Corn salad comes with artisan greens, feta, carrot, radish, tomato, red onion, orange vinaigrette. This was a refreshing light start to the meal and we both really enjoyed it. For the slow roasted beef striploin, it was served with asparagus and bell peppers, mash potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and a red wine demi. The beef striploin was lean but not tough and was super trendy and juicy. Yorkshire pudding, which I'm usually not a fan of, was really warm and soft. Overall, a really solid dish that was generous in portion. Dessert was also solid for both the cinnamon cheesecake and black forest cake. We barely finished the dessert and both of us had leftovers of our entree to take home as we couldn't finish our food. Great value for a 3 course $45 meal for today's economy and the service was really friendly and warm.

Stepping into BMC is like taking a time-machine back to the 1960's. Decor looks straight out of an era when Polaroid cameras ruled the photography world. The restaurant itself is moderately sized, but they were able to accommodate our party of 12. Restaurant was very dimly lit; most of the light was coming from the setting sun. The menu had as many choices as a typical White Spot. Prices were reasonable, but entrees could be upgraded which could cause prices to escalate if you weren't prudent. For example, I ordered the steak but got the lobster upgrade which raised the price by 30%. And, it was the lower-grade Caribbean lobster instead of the much juicier Atlantic lobster. It took a long time for the food to begin arriving. But, we did have a larger party that night. But, after a long wait, all our food arrived almost all at once. Presentation was good, and portion size was adequate. My steak was medium rare even though I had requested rare. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals, and a few were unable to finish their food. Service was only okay. If they weren't taking your order or delivering your food, you didn't see much of the staff. And, the restaurant wasn't exactly busy either. We did ask a server to take a group photo of our table, and they happily obliged. I'd skip the round of golf and go straight to the restaurant.
