Be careful with these guys. I called and asked them to come to my loft to move a hose bib that was on my deck. It was a little complicated so I sent them an e-mail and a photo with an explanation of what was needed to be done. My thought was they they would show up prepared and get the job done. After waiting through the obligatory 4 hour window to show up, the technician had not seen the e-mail and was not prepared to do the work. He took a look and left. A couple hours later I received a quote via text for $1,200. I, like everyone else was born, but I was not born yesterday. That worked out to $600 per hour. I shut them down and called Gemini Plumbing who showed up at the appointed time (no wait) had everything needed for the job and completed in 2 hours. Cost $433. Go with Gemini and avoid One Call. read more

Excellent Service, I had a leak in my sheet rock that happened at 9pm at night, I called and got a response immediately. I had never been up in my attic before, but they were able to walk me through how to go up there and figure out the source of the leak, which based on where the water was she was able to diagnose the problem accurately. Nick, the technician arrived early the next morning and was able to get me quote on services. They also offered financing and he even offered to bring a portable a/c unit to my house until fixed, as the a/c unit had to be turned off so it would not continue to leak until fixed. I would definitely recommend them to any one looking for excellent customer service. The even have a sheet rock repair person in case you need sheet rock repairs. read more

We used One Call for our heater that wasn't working. We thought it was the thermostat, but when the repairman arrived, he quickly discovered it was not the thermostat, but the actual heater in the attic that was malfunctioning. He discussed with us our options and the cost of repairing the unit vs replacing the unit. We decided to replace the 22 year old unit. The warranty on the new unit is 12 years plus 2 years on the installation workmanship, which is a very good warranty. Once we called One Call, Roger, One Call's rep arrive quickly to check out the problem. They were able to get the new heating unit the next day. The crew that installed the new unit was headed by Fabian. They were all very professional, courteous and took time to explain the process so we knew exactly what they were doing. We will definitely use One Call again, as we had used them in the past and recommend them for air conditioning and heating repairs. read more

I called ONE CALL to look at a potential leak under the house that a foundation company discovered as they were doing work. ONE CALL had done a major job for me before when I was out of town--cost was close to $6000. As the tech from ONE CALL was looking at the pipe he noticed that there was another problem with a different pipe. This other pipe was not slopped and so it was holding water. I mentioned to the tech that in fact ONE CALL had replaced this pipe charging almost $6000. I spoke to Edgar the owner and he said he would come out and fix the problem. THis must have been when he thought he could criminally overcharge me again for the job I had called them out for-- I found out that the amount I paid ONE CALL for the other job was almost twice as much as two other companies--John Moore and Sandtech-- would have charged for the same job. As it happened, the pipe under the house was fixed by the foundation company and now that ONE CALL didn't have the new job he decided he would not repair that bad work his tech discovered from the previous job they did. I called John Moore for a second option since ONE CALL now started denying there was even a problem, despite the fact that their own tech discovered the problem. John Moore confirmed the pipe was not placed deeply enough into the ground and did not slop and was not allowing water to flow from under the house. The John Moore tech told me to call the company that did the work and get them to make the repair. His jaw also dropped when I told him what ONE CALL charged me. He said he used to work there and the culture was terrible and the company was doing really poorly now. I have been trying to get Edgar from ONE CALL on the phone for two weeks. Last time we spoke he told me I wanted work done for free. I am going to take this up with the better business bureau but thought I would try to stop others from getting into a hot mess with these folks. read more

This will be only a partial review because after they came out I was so shocked at their price I told them I could not use them. So I have not had work done by them. They wanted $200 to put in a toilet tank in a one-year-old house; the tank in one of our baths had a crack and needed replacing. Two other bids were $90 and $100. Charging me double what other reputable plumbers wanted, particularly after telling me on the phone it would be in the same range as the others, was not reasonable. One final note. Montrose AC and Plumbing Services is One Call Services. One is a front for the other and vice versa. This is not told to you when you call, and IMHO, a little shady. read more

Called around for someone to do two Nest thermostat installs and these guys said they were the local experts. The technician was late and clearly had never installed a Nest before. Watched him reading the instructions, calling the office (cursing) telling me the Nest was defective and all the reasons we didn't want one anyway. Left after an hour with the job basically undone. Wanted to send a different repairman but why bother. You misrepresented yourself and your company. That's called lying. Heater wasn't working correctly so we called around they were the closest one that charges for repair and not for service call to see what was wrong. anyhow, the tech poked around and couldn't find anything wrong, all he did was flipped the switch to reset the heater and then charged $87 for it. that only worked for a day and the heater is acting up again. save yourself time and money and find another place read more

First and last time I ever use these people. I waited until 730PM on a call that was supposed to be from 2-6PM. The tech arrived. I needed faucets/fixtures installed in 3 bathrooms and in the kitchen. (2 in Master, 2 in Bathroom, 1 in Guest Bathroom, 1 Kitchen sink, 1 mini bar sink). New fixtures being installed in new granite/new sinks. He gave me an estimate of $4,637!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I guess he thought I was stupid. That comes out to over $600 per install!!! DO NOT EVER CALL THESE PEOPLE. He suggested I also add in a new trash disposal for $600...something I can buy at Home Depot for $100. This is just ridiculous and gouging at its worst. Today on Memorial Day our A/C decided to quit, noticed it around 1:30 or so, checked breaker box and switch on the unit, all ok, called the office and talked with Tina around 2, she got the info and arranged for a Service Tech who got here around 3. Hector quickly found the problem, the capacitor, replaced it, did the follow up check both outside and in the attic, and we were back in cool air. For a holiday both Tina and Hector did great. 01/19/2014 My hot water heater sprung a leak. I thought I would be able to replace the needed parts and keep it simple. Well no such luck.....one leak became another and another yet another. So Sunday night I was without water. I turned the main water supply off, went to bed without my shower.....nothing worse. Then I remembered my first amazing experience with ONE CALL in December, when they came to the rescue..... I now had a plan..... I was reffered to one call by a friend. My a/c unit was not cooling. I took a chance and called thinking i would be scheduled for a different day due to the houston weather being so hot. The young lady that answered the phone ask about my details on my situation and told me she could have a tech/techs out in a 2 hr. time frame so i scheduled the appointment. I recieved a curtesy call not long after i made the appointment to let me know the tech/techs had been dispatched. The gentleman showed up 30 min. later and much to my suprise they showed a badge proving they were with the company one call even though i could see the van from my window. This was a great start since i had never used one call before & let me know i had professionals in my home. The gentleman found the problem and worked as a team and got my unit up and cooling. I was so thankful! One of the gentleman wrote up my invoice and there was no service charge that the lady in the office had mention to me so i ask him why and he replied i was only charged for the repair and he hoped i would be a future repeat customer if i ever needed service again. Called for technician to come out and give an estimate of replacing a gas hot water heater in the attic. After viewing my old hot water tank, the technician quoted me $2600. I got two other quotes from highly recommended companies that send technicians also out to review the old hot water heater. They quoted between $1285 and $1390. Wow what a difference! Main waterline to the house busted outside, called One Call Houston after a quick online search. They came out within less than two hours, fixed the pipe with minimal damage to the yard and charged a VERY reasonable price. We were placing bets of how much it would cost and they came in at half of our lowest estimate, which was a nice surprise. My 76 year old grandmother called them to come out and fix a stopped up drain in the kitchen sink willie said that he would have to run a snake through the drain and it would be $375. When she asked why so much he said that was what it cost to get the machine out to do it. Not knowing better she said ok and he completed the service. When she told me how much it costs the next day I said that it was to expensive and I called them to ask how much it would be to perform the same service at my house they told me it would be $59 so I explained what happened and ask to speak to a manager. I have left 3 messages. On the third call I was first told that he said he left me a message and when I told them hell did not call me I was told that he said he talked to me about the problem. They can't even lie right. Willie is a lowlife that takes advantage of elderly people how much lower can you get! I will make sure I tell every person I know about this. read more

Do not use them! We have three AC units and had used this company for over three years. We had maintenance plans with them and used them at least twice a year. They were pretty good in 2011, but have gone downhill in recent years. The quality of work, the attitude of the techs, and the customer service have all declined. We recently had them do a 3 hour plumbing repair, for which we were overcharged and later found out they hadn't glued many of the pipes and had to come back again. Even after that call, pipes were still unglued and we had to get another company to fix all of their work! They will try to sell you things you may not need and will call you to tell you they are on their way to your house even after you told them you did not want them doing the work. We had to contact the owner many times about price discrepancies, shoddy work and abrasive techs. He rarely returned ours calls and when he did had many excuses and seemed put out to honor pricing we had verbally agreed on (in terms of applying the trip charge to the repair charge). read more

I wanted my yearly A/C service done which I've been meticulous about since unit was new (~7 yrs old), saw their special online reduced from $89.95 to $30.00 for "A/C Tune Up". Checked Yelp reviews, seemed good so called to make appoint (fabulous lady works there called Ms. April-so so nice courteous and made it all very easy). Rep arrived (25 mins late), was very polite but then spent literally 2 mins at the condensor unit outside, 2 mins up in loft area (no way he couldve got over to the furnace in that time never mind checked drains etc), then proceeded to tell me that not only was the installation of the previous work not good, but my condensor was pulling 2.5amps over capacity and would likely fail within 6-8 weeks! (I only called them for a std service!). He then estimated $7300 to fix, inc new coil, and left. HE DID NOT EVEN OPEN OR CLEAN the condensor as is usual through any of the previous service appointments I've had, and the gauges were only on the condensor for literally 1.5 mins. After leaving message about being somewhat confused and unhappy about the visit, today I was called by an absolutely MORON called Daniel who called himself the 'Ops Manager', (pity he couldn't operate any civility to a customer), who not only told me that I had 'misinterpreted' their statement of 'A/C Tune Up' and their standard practice is not to do 'any work' (heaven forbid!), and that they just 'look' at your A/C. He said other companies must have been lying to me when they said they were cleaning my condensor unit in previous years (I saw them!), and the best he could do was send someone else out but they'd only do the same thing ... so I asked for my money back. He said he'd talk to 'the Manager' .. so I asked to speak to Edgar and he said 'no, he doesn't talk to customers and leaves the customers up to him'!!!! Really?!? Well, that can't have been Edgar that I spoke to on the phone the eve before about my appointment then??, or the Edgar that everybody says is soooo good with customers? Yet Daniel wouldn't yield and pass me onwards. So I [sarcastically] thanked him for being soooo very helpful, hung up and called back. I got Ms. April on the phone who is a credit to Edgar and his team (Excl Daniel), and quickly sorted out the entire situation by talking to Edgar who said that wasn't standard operating behaviour and apologised for the problems. I was very pleased with the level of customer service from both Ms April and Edgar, but FORGET DANIEL - he's a complete waste of time and doesn't have a clue how to resolve any customer issues. I wouldn't want him representing my company that's for sure because I wasn't impressed at all by his behaviour, and based solely on him, is the reason why I'd think twice about calling this company ever again. read more

Don't trust the good reviews and they are completely wrong. All they care about is getting money out of you. After that, they don't care. They said they would meet me within a time frame, and didn't show up (I even called during the time frame to check on the status). It was not until I called, again, 30 minutes after they were supposed to show up that they said they were not coming. I lost work hours, and they completely wasted my time. The next day they finally show up. We had some water damage (and trust me it was obvious with our floorboards out and fans everywhere) and the incompetent employee says, "So, did you experience any water damage?" I politely told him yes, but it was the reason for calling him out in the first place. After, he says he has to make a call. I asked if he was coming back, he said he would be. I walked out to check and his truck was gone. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Again, they don't care so long as they have the money from you, after that you are on your own. They will take advantage of you and not take responsibility when they screw up. Watch out. read more

Though I've worked with this company before and received satisfactory service I will NEVER use them again and would not wish their deception and thievery on anyone. I called for them to send someone to check my broken heater the first week in January and was informed by him that a panel within the heater was no longer working and that it needed to be replaced at an estimate of $750 - $950. After a week I was ready for this high cost repair and scheduled to have it performed. When they came back to replace this it was discovered that they ordered the wrong part and (to top it off this was just before Houston's first big ice day of the year) they were not very apologetic or willing to discount for their mistake. The new piece did not come in until a week later (after BOTH of Houston's ice days) and when they came back to replace it they realized AGAIN that it was the incorrect piece. This was blamed on my "off brand" unit and it was suggested I just buy and entirely new heater for over $2300. Completely fed up, I decided to call a different company who came out to check the heater and discovered a broken fuse that would only cost about $10 that was actually causing the heater not to work. It was fixed the next day, easy as that, by an honest company. Do not let One Call Services jerk you around and rip you off the way they tried to do me! read more

We had them install a new AC in December and it hasn't worked for the last month. They have sent out 4 different technicians and still are without AC. I called One Call after being sick of dealing with my thermostat saying it was 82 degrees in the house despite the temperature being set to 74 and running the whole day for 2 years. There was a real headscratcher of a problem with my AC unit, but after 4 house visits and continuous calls to check on how the AC was after each visit, they fixed the problem (replaced compressor and installed TXV) AND charged me a more-than-fair price for the parts and extensive labor they performed to get the job done. I had a/c guy come out to estimate/repair my central a/c unit,was not cooling...i was outside with him watching him open up box...looks at a few things pulls a few wires off switch and tells me i need a new fan motor...$920...I said but how do you know it's not a switch,can you show me how you checked for switch or capacitor...he fumbled around as if he couldn't do it for some reason or,,like he didn't have equipment to properly test it...he just knew it was bad...he wrote me up an estimate..I told him i would get another opinion and call him if I needed his service..next day I called friend who knew someone in a/c business...he came out looked at it..in one minute said I needed a new capicitor...he had one in his truck..it was $35....he popped it in,in about 10 minutes and charged me $85....said my a/c was fine...went inside house and checked all the vents...and a/c was blowing out at 59 degrees...this guy from One Call either didn't know what he was doing...or he was obviously charging me for a much bigger project than what I needed...he said he'd been doing a/c for 12 years...be careful out there when dealing with service guys...always get another opinion/estimate... read more

I honestly just feel obligated to warn people. I was in need of AC service since the outside unit had stopped working. One Call was easy to coordinate with and on time, but their prices are outrageous. Wade showed up and was very knowledgeable. He unscrewed 2 screws and looked at my unit and instantly knew it was the dual run capacitor. He went to his truck and pulled one out... it looked like a $10-$20 part and installed it - I thought max $100 part. He installs it and the unit starts working and then says it's $325. I don't know why I didn't look it up and went along with it, but i paid the $325. The AC works, but the part is literally $9.90 at Walmart. It looked easier to install, took less than 10 minutes. The capacitor has no warranty, but I feel confident i could install it myself next time, just make sure to cut the electricity before doing any work. Moral of the story: I should have only paid the $50 service call which was very reasonable and not paid for the part. read more
