I go there frequently with friends and have never been disappointed. There's a casual elegance and the food is always fresh and well prepared. It's always my first choice for out of town visitors. read more

We are visiting from Arizona, and this little restaurant was recommended by our B&B in Lenox. It was a great recommendation. The salad nicoise with salmon was perfect, with precisely cooked salmon and a well-balanced ginger-wasabi dressing. My wife loved the quiche and soup. It was quick and the service was pleasant. I read a negative review about there being no kids menu and limited space for a party of five. We raised three kids. Maybe some people should learn how to choose a restaurant appropriate for their families. read more

Quaint little place. Nice atmosphere and staff. Food was so so. A little pricey for the type of food serve. I personally wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

Atmosphere is very calming and comfortable. Escargot pie is amazing and very flavorful. Mac and cheese is full of flavor and very rich. A good place to go to during the fall season. read more

I was in the area with my wife on September 3 2018 . the waitress was a little breif and not as freindly as expected But I will say our food made up for the service. We had the lamb it was perfect 10stars we had escargot pie it was to die for. The salads were beautifully presented and fresh after dinner we couldnt have dessert we were filled the portions were great next time we go we wont eat as much so we can try the dessert we are sure that will be as incredible for a small quaint little restaraunt they pack out a incredible meal read more

A favorite spot for dinner because of the interesting and delicious food, and the homey, and quiet atmosphere. Rack of lamb was cooked perfectly in a very large portion, and sauteed trout was also excellent. read more

While we were waiting for our meal we witnessed the kitchen staff sweeping the floor, using the dust bin, handling dirty plates, and wiping sweat and then, without washing, using their bare hands to cut tomatoes, handle lettuce, buns and meat, and then then hand arranging the couscous. Disgusting. read more

Excellent restaurant, had Trout which was superb. The restaurant is very small, reservations are highly recommended, the food quality was excellent and the price is very reasonable. Would go back without any hesitations. read more

Enjoyed a great flavorful dinner with attentive service. Highly recommend the mussel appetizer it was delicious! Enjoyed the rainbow trout and chicken special that were cooked to perfection. Finished with a generously sized profiteroles covered in chocolate ganache. Yum! read more

Because of the reviews for the escargot pot pie, I had to come try. It was amazingly yummy .. the pie crust was buttery and flakey (like a crossiant) and the big buttery garlic herb escargot was meaty and cooked perfectly. I nearly threw away the spoon to lick the bowl and had to administer a lot of self-control not to pick up the crust crumbs from the table with my fingers. The rest of the meal was just as wonderful and we were super spoiled by our friendly attentive waitress and staff. Needless to say we finished everything on all our plates and glasses of wine. Tip: You should call ahead and make reservations no matter how small your party is. The place is cozy but have a constant flow of traffic. So you will be turned away by the friendly manager host if they can't accommodate with recommendations to other neighboring restaurants. My hubby and I was fortunate to be able to change our reservation from 8pm to 6pm when we called an hour after they opened. The reservations fills up quickly. read more

We went to this restaurant for lunch on the recommendation of a local. We sat outside and ordered from the regular and special menus. I had the black bean burger which was good. My wife ordered a Cuban from the special menu which was so disappointing. It was so small with so little on it, it wasn't worth half the price. Also, she was served 3 small half potatoes as a potato salad side. I saw other Cubans being served and they all looked the same. C'mon man if you are offer a lunch special don't forget to make it special or don't charge 12 bucks, just call it an app. read more

Hi there As a trained French chef I have mixed reviews on this one. Their service was great however not warm at all which was just fine. It was very cut and dried absolutely no chit chat or engaging w customers. As a former caterer as well we all know connections are important. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting and very appealing. I have to say we, my friend and I were very cold. We kept our coats on. I so wanted to give this place a great review but I just can't and here is why. The food was actually really good. My salmon as cooked perfectly and the vegetables were really good, however when the waitress gave me a choice I said broccoli and spinach and zucchini. When I got my food I got carrots and zucchini while pretty And good it wasn't what I ordered. The vanilla gelato was really really good. The raspberry coulis was pretty much the worst I have ever tasted. When you make raspberry coulis should be puréed raspberries , lemon juice , and sugar cooked and strained . What I got served was some sort of preserves watered down and strained. It was absolutely not raspberry coulis as it gelled on my amazing gelato. That was to me unbelievable. Without sounding harsh my friend's crab cake ( maine ) and we are two Europeans living in Maine - were amazing. They were really good. Having said all this for both of us and we were almost afraid to say it. The music was so so horrible we couldn't wait to leave. It was supposedly violin music w the theme of fairytale but it was screeching and actually stressful to listen to while eating. It did change to some piano but it was actually equally as bad. I think to fix the music is major. Soft classical if you want that theme or soft Celtic as in Enya or indie or a mixture of other types. The music was so horrible that it actually ruined it for us. The reason I'm writing this is because with just a few tweaks - fix the raspberry coulis and the music and you've got it. A fab place ! read more

No fuss, charming ambience with fantastic service (thank you, Josh!). The food was very good, especially the desserts. I had the duck which was well-prepared, and my husband had the trout which was both beautiful in presentation and flavor. It was not seasoned too heavily, so you could still taste the flavor of the fish itself. The vegetable dumplings were ok, but I thought they seemed a bit dried out along the edge. My real thrill was to see Qupe Syrah on the wine list...one of my favorite California wines that I rarely see by the glass, if at all, in Massachusetts. I'd also like to mention that I unknowingly spoke with the owner while at Williams and Sons Country Store. Alan O'Brient owns both the country store and the restaurant...we had a lovely chat about places to eat in Pittsfield, and he mentioned that he was in the restaurant business, but at no time did he push his restaurant on me. I happened to have reservations at Once Upon a Table, and found out only after the meal that it was his restaurant. Definitely will return when looking for a place to eat in Stockbridge. Call and make a reservation...it is a small place. I did wish, however, that I could have made reservations on line, via OpenTable, but it was worth the phone call! read more

We were lucky to be able to walk in and get a table here as many folks afterwards were turned away due to reservations coming in. They have a wide selection of dishes from the simple to the more elegant. Everything we had was well prepared and very flavorful. While we did not order it, the rack of lamb looked really fantastic. read more

Great food, excellent service. It's not right on the street, but back in the mews, look for it. Small, and when we were there, it got quite busy at lunch time, and I understand why. Would definitely go back. read more

The specialty of the day was clam chowder. The clams were rubbery and the potatoes were undercooked. The chicken on the ceasar salad was dry. The quiche was just okay. It had a weird texture. The bathrooms were upstairs so not good for the elderly. The music was not relaxing and the waiter was peculiar. I would not recommend this place. read more

Went with my girlfriend on a Monday night for our anniversary, with mixed results. We called for a reservation and arrived right on time, but the one waitress working seemed unprepared for us; it took nearly 15 minutes for her to come with water and ask about drinks, and once we decided against wine that night you could tell she sort of put us last in her mind relative to other tables, presumably due to the smaller check. Service was sloooow, and not through any fault of the chef; once we finally were able to order food, it came in a reasonable time frame. The waitress seemed overwhelmed, and we heard her apologizing to neighboring tables for mistakes and forgotten drinks, but there were only about 5 tables occupied, and 2 of them were single customers just having a drink and reading. The food itself was good, and appropriately priced; my gf was happy with her appetizer of mussels, and we both enjoyed the duck with raspberry demi-glace. Waitress again seemed put off when I said not to worry about the asparagus that was to come with my meal, as I don't care for that particular veggie, and seemed to bristle a bit that I would dare to request that the plate be served missing a side that the chef had picked. Regardless of the service, which made us feel like a bit of an after thought, the food was absolutely good, with nice crispy skin on the duck, respectable portions, and excellent artisan bread at the start. read more

Comfortable atmosphere, and friendly service (probably because the Red Sox's were beating Tampa at the time). Food was delicious. Specifically, duck was very good, and muscles were excellent, while the pork tenderloin was very tasty, albeit a little dry. Filet mignon and salad Nicoise were delicious. They would certainly benefit from some enhancement of their decor, but overall we had an excellent dining experience. read more

My husband and I were driving through Stockbridge on a beautiful day and decided to stop to get a bite to eat. It was later in the afternoon so we figured out choices were going to be limited. We first checked out the menu at The Red Lion Inn and was sort of shocked at the high prices, so we kept on walking. We stumbled upon Once Upon a Table and decided to give it a try. It's a quaint, small little establishment. The service was wonderful and the food was the same!! I had the Reuben and it was one of the best I've had. Not your typical deli sliced meat either - just amazing!! My husband had the salmon Caesar salad which was a special and he loved it too. I would highly recommend this little place!!! read more

I had lunch there on Martin Luther King day. When we arrived at 12:00 it was quite cold, although it warmed up a bit later on. The clam chowder was poor. It was actually cool. The waiter took it back to warm up, but it was still only lukewarm. The quiche was the worst I ever had. It had a gooey texture and it was also cold. Sent it back but was still only lukewarm. Very poor flavor. The ambiance was mediocre. The waiter was agreeable, however, so I left a decent tip despite all. read more

What a cute little place on the main drag in Stockbridge! I was visiting from out of town with my friend, and we found this place on Yelp. The service was great and our waiter was a riot. I got the chicken gorgonzola sandwich and my friend got the chicken salad sandwich. We enjoyed both. read more

Cute little place with good food in the quaint village of stockbridge.. We arrive before theatre for our 6 pm reservation only to find we had accidentally been put on the wrong day !! They called the next reservationists who agreed to be seated a few min later so we could have dinner. How accommodating is that!! Returned and enjoyed the next week, The trout, and the duck were wonderful. read more

My husband and I had the most awesome dining experience here today. The staff were all friendly and funny, excellent service, delicious food. We started with a cup of soup each. I had the butternut squash and hubby had the new England clam chowder, loved them. Prince Edward mussels were next. They were the best ever. For our main lunch I had the crab cakes and hubby had the shrimp fra diablo, both blew us away! We will def be coming back! read more

I'm giving it 3 stars because of small portions. Had the ravioli stuffed with oven roasted veggies. Tasted good but only came with 5 raviolis for $14. Left there hungry. read more

Excellent Thai soup and the salad Nicoise was great. The sourdough rolls were a treat. Definitely worth the stop

This little gem of bistro is such a nice diversion from the hustle and bustle of the Red Lion culinary pursuits. Lunch or dinner, the offerings are fresh, thoughtfully prepared and served with a pleasant low-keyed demeanor. Seating outdoors in a lovely little alleyway courtyard a must, weather permitting. Great place to take my clients for a business lunch. Love this place! read more

We came here for an early pre-Berkshire Theater Group performance. We had picked it based on Yelp reviews and were delighted by the atmosphere when we first sat down. We were also pleased that It was quiet enough to actually have a conversation. Then the meal began. My husbands Malbec came with two bugs in it. He sent it back and the waitress, upon her return, said, "Here's your Chianti." So it had to go back again. The meal was terribly disappointing. The Maple Butternut Squash soup sounded wonderful, but it was tasteless, with no hint of maple. My trout was drenched in oil and appeared breaded, although the waitress said it wasn't. It was also not properly filleted, and there were many bones that had I had to remove. My husband's duck was dry. Considering that there are so many good reviews, we may try it again. Maybe it was just an off night. read more

My wife and I had an excellent dinning experience here. Small cozy place with great ambiance, good service, and the food was delicious. We would go back again. read more

Small, very reasonable, quaint, would eat there again. The salmon burger was delicious!

Stopped by this restaurant while passing through town. We have an infant so we had to pick a friendly restaurant. This place was very accommodating! We ordered quickly and our food came out fresh and delicious less than 10 minutes later. Waitress Nikki was very nice. Will definitely seek once upon a table out the next time we are in the area! read more

We arrived on a Sunday evening at 8:15, shortly before the kitchen was closing, with a ravenous 9 year-old in tow. Our server was gracious, our food arrived promptly--with a special order for the young lady--and our salad entrees were tasty, well but lightly dressed. What a lovely way to end our summer weekend in the Berkshires! I'd go back to Once Upon A Table to explore the menu further. read more

Had a wonderful lunch here today! The host was honest in advising us of the wait time, we were encouraged to browse the other little spots in the area and we were looked for when our table was ready. I have three children, ages 12, 14 and 17, one is a vegetarian, and the menu had plenty to offer and everyone was delighted with their meals. Would definitely eat here again the next time we are in the area! read more

Stumbled upon this gem after we decided the Red Lion was not our style. Walk down a short alleyway a few doors from the Red Lion and you will be greeted by this laid back spot where the meal by far exceeds initial expectations. The restaurant was half empty so we were greeted and seated immediately by our server Arie, a Jamaican mother with a great attitude. We started by sharing the portobello mushroom tower which we discussed with Arie so we could make at home, it was that good. Next came the crab cakes, two good size delicious cakes with plenty of crabmeat. We finished off the meal with the profiteroles, a chocolate delight that left us satisfied with a smile on our face. During our meal Arie was attentive, efficient and friendly spending time to talk even though she was responsible for all the tables. Definitely a return spot and by the way the rolls were....you guessed it...delish. read more

If you like garlic, eat here. Watery vegetables, lamb with little taste. Thus the garlic. And wouldn't take Amex, to boot.

Had lunch here last week. Busy little place. Service was efficient and friendly. The owner (without our having to ask) moved us to a less chilly spot when he saw a person in my party wrapping herself in her shawl. I had the tomato, mozzarella, etc. sandwich which was delicious. Only complaint (and it's a big one for me) is that the tomato was that whitish/pinkish kind that comes out of a hothouse before it's ripe. There are better tomatoes in the supermarket right now, not to mention those growing in local backyards and small farms! I took it off my sandwich and complained. Initially the owner told me that he wasn't happy with the quality from his supplier, either (duh! don't accept it). Later, he offered to make up for it on the bill. read more
