Love this cute little spot! The flavors are excellent combos of various Asian flavors that rotate around for even more variety. My favorites are their adorable mochi donuts that are the perfect texture in my opinion. I typically enjoy very light and not too sweet Asian desserts, but I somehow find myself getting a mochi donut every time I visit. It's definitely the sweetest dessert I have ever actually liked. Their drinks are alright. Some are better than others, but I would say that their baked goods are definitely the stars of the show. Their soft serve ice cream is only served on certain days if I recall correctly. I enjoy their ice cream and appreciate that it's gluten free. I love the decorations throughout the interior and exterior, especially in the bathroom. I do admit that it's less enjoyable in the searing hot Austin summers since they only have outdoor seating, but I still like stopping by. A small dessert parlor with limited covered and plenty of open-air seating. We came here on a Saturday afternoon to satisfy our ice cream craving, and OMG Squee delivered. When we arrived there was a line of 10 people, which was moving quickly as two very friendly staff members were working non-stop. Both of us had taiyaki: one filled with red bean paste and topped with ube soft serve, and the other one filled with custard and topped with cereal milk soft serve. For toppings we chose coconut rolls and fruity loops. The coconut rolls were a bit disappointing, but everything else was amazing. The soft serve was sweet and smooth, charming you on the first lick and keeping you enchanted until it's gone. The taiyaki were warm and pillowy, the fillings perfectly matching the sweetness level for a cozy end of the dessert. While we walked here, the parking seemed tight. There were few cars with their hazards on parked in the middle of the street. It would be amazing if CapMetro can add a light rail stop right in front, making it safer and easier for customers to get to the local businesses in this area. read more

I've been wanting to this place forever and finally got the chance to since they close later on weekends! There's a bit of parking in the front of the establishment but if you drive down the street there's also a small dirt lot on the other side of the road. The line inside was long but not too bad, it gives you enough time to look at the menu. I got the mango lassi and ube swirl taiyaki sundae ($8.50 and comes with a filling like custard or red bean plus one topping). The ube was delicious but the mango lassi was not as flavorful as I was hoping. The fish bread was different than I expected (it seemed like it was made of rice flour) but still yummy! The strawberry cream flavor soft swirl also looked good but those that were with me said that it was more cream than strawberry, and that you couldn't taste the strawberry as much. There's only seating in the outdoor covered area, wish they had a larger location. I will definitely be coming back and bringing more friends! read more

One of my favorite dessert shops! For two, we ordered the miso caramel sweet corn donut, a lychee tea, and the pumpkin pie/black sesame soft serve. The soft serve flavors for this month were all so enticing. It was hard to pick but black sesame deserts are always a personal favorite, and I appreciate the ability to try a second flavor at the same time! The soft serves texture was fantastic, and the cup serving did not feel too heavy! I've never had a bad flavor from here. The donut had small pieces of corn inside and was definitely buttery and chewy on the inside. I will say the glaze added a little too much sweetness, although the miso flavor itself was great! All items were ready quickly with little wait time for the tea which was prepared after we ordered. There was a great amount of searing directly outside of the shop as well as many benches in the courtyard area next to it. It is a bit off the beaten path / pretty far East Austin, and there are a few tips I'd recommend for newcomers: (1) Their most popular items are their mochi donuts which come in a variety of tasty flavors. For those who haven't had mochi donuts, it's made with rice flour and tastes much more gelatinous than your average donut. I love the texture, and there's the benefit of being gluten free given the rice base. (2) Their mochi donuts sell out often and fast. They close at 6pm on weekdays. If you want a treat on a weekday, make sure to plan accordingly. (3) They have a lot of fun extras too outside of their mochi donuts, including a handful of macarons, soft serve ice cream, as well as boba / milk & fruit teas. They knock it out of the park on all their other menu items, but I can find them to be a little too sweet (an Asian compliment is when someone says "this is not too sweet"). I prefer to adjust down sweetness on my drinks to compensate. (4) Their ube coffee is a hidden gem (5) This is really more of a "to-go" place than a sit and eat venue. A very chill Friday evening visit to OMG Squee. Got the strawberry cream/ube swirl soft serve with the famous fish cookie (red bean filling). The ice cream had phenomenal texture, very silky and smooth but also frozen firm and slow to melt. I was expecting it to be a little cloyingly sweet, but it was actually perfectly balanced. Wish they had allowed samples, as I got to taste my friend's brown sugar milk tea flavor which was my overall favorite. Macaroons are to die for as well! soft, delicious, fresh, fluffy, slight crisp in texture, great flavor in the middle, portioned just right as well. The only other macaroon's I've had so far that rival them is up in Cedar Park at Whipped. Other than that, not sure what other Austin bakeries have better macaroons! Ice cream is always firm but not hard nor mushy nor melty. Consistency is king here and flavor is always the same. Great taste, great flavor, good quality and well worth the price. Standing in line is a bit tight and squished indoors, so just bear that in mind. Hard to even fit beyond 12-15 people in line inside the store at one time without feeling a bit squeezed, so be prepared to stand outside if you come during rush hour. Cute small shop offering soft serve served in a Belgian waffle in fish shape called taiyaki. I got the combo of cereal milk and Thai tea with Nutella filling inside the fish. The soft serve is good, but the flavor should be stronger and bolder. Cereal milk tastes like the milk in a bowl of frosted flake; however, it doesn't hit you immediately that it's cereal milk. Your palette needs to work for a bit to realize that it's cereal milk. Same with Thai tea, the flavor is quite mild. My sister got a combo of ube and miso caramel soft serve. The ube flavor also needs to be stronger. Miso caramel doesn't taste like caramel. It tastes like sweet cream, but that's about it. Nutella filling and custard fillings are good, but nothing stands out or compliments anything specifically. Parking is quite limited as they only have a few spots at the front. You can also park across the sweet at the open area. They also serve a variety of boba drinks. However, with mild flavored soft serve which is something they're known for, I wouldn't want to try their drinks. The shop is very small and hot inside with no indoor seating. There are a few benches and tables outside with a fan. The tables are super sticky with all the melted ice cream and sloppy wipes, so don't put anything on the table. With Texas summer, the fan doesn't help at all. You literally have to eat ice cream outside and imagine how fast the ice cream will melt in this heat. With $9.20 (including tax) for a waffle cone cut in a fish shape with mild flavored soft serve, it's definitely pricey. It just provides Instagram worthy pictures. Note: Since OMG Squee is a small, local shop, they run out of items fast! They'll note it on their menu with makeshift post-its, expect to pivot. OMG Squee offers not just Taiyaki, but also mochi donuts and a variety of asian drinks (matcha, milk tea, fruit teas). I only got to order the Taiyaki, but was not disappointed!! How it works: every month, there are two soft serve flavors offered. Unfortunately, the soft serves are NOT vegan friendly, which I wish they offered! Once selected, you'll then be able to choose your cone filling and toppings. The soft serve was perfectly sweetened, light and delicate, while the taiyaki itself was crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. Logistics: Since OMG Squee has been featured on Netflix's Queer Eye, it has gained a ton of traction from the show. My friend really liked the taiyaki sundae. I think the best deal is getting the cup. I had so much ice cream, I had to let my friend finish it. The Ube flavor is really nice and not overpowering. They are very busy so it makes it super challenging and the worse part of this adventure. The store itself was a quick wait for the line that was inside. There were two employees which helped move things along. They were curteous and I apprecieated the large signage that indeed reiterates the taiyaki was gluten-free. I got the ube with red bean and custard filling. I was so happy to finally try this sweet treat. I liked it a lot. My friend had just the Mexican chocolate soft serve in a cup and liked it. A very well known and Instagrammable spot, OMG Squee will definitely have a line on the weekends. It was out the door at 11:30AM on a Sunday and at 12:30PM was still packed inside. There is complementary water outside while you wait. Parking is best down the street on a gravel lot. The wait was about 20-30 minutes. There is a covered seating area right outside the door with some fans. The garden area nearby also has seating, but I wouldn't recommend it because there are a lot of big flies that gather around the sugar. I tried the "Luna" Ube + Chocolate Chip donut. The mochi donut was soft and chewy, a pleasant difference from normal donuts. It is a small treat and can be consumed in 3-4 big bites. Not a great size for the price. The Hong Kong Milk Tea was mediocre. The boba is handmade but the texture is a bit stiff. The tea infused flavor in the tapioca was nice, but didn't make up for the poor texture. Overall, I wouldn't wait in the line during the Austin heat again, but I wouldn't mind trying a different donut if someone I knew was doing a run for a dozen. read more

The food is great here! I tried the miso and ube swirl soft serve. It was good, but I prefer Somi Somi in Houston for their Ube. My favorite items here were the coconut Pandan and black sesame mochi doughnuts. I didn't know what to expect, but they were like cake doughnuts except actually good. Moist and had a nice chew, without being gummy. The downsides are all the flies buzzing over the doughnuts while they sit on a rack--not a fan of that at all. I've written 275 Yelp reviews and I can't recall complaining about cleanliness before. Maybe it was just the day we dropped in. Maybe they were understaffed (I counted four employees behind the counter). All I know is that I was grossed out by a lot of things I saw. Tables tops outside were covered with crumbs and the food debris beneath them was considerable. The doors and handles were scruffy and dirty. Items at the cash register were questionably sticky. The soles of my shoes were sticking to the floor inside. Like nearly everyone else in Austin, I enjoyed the Queer Eye episode dedicated to this spot and it's owner. I just hadn't prioritized a visit. I'm a big girl now and pink places still get a thumbs up from me. I have a weakness for Happy Cats and there are many mechanized such felines on display here. The purple sweet potato soft serve ice cream (Ube) was delish, especially with the fish shaped Belgian waffle cone. Any place that offers macarons gets points from me. One extra star because a fellow from behind the counter stepped outside to serve us our waffle cones fresh out of the oven. Lots of gluten-free options. I got the soft serve swirl (Ube and something) with a custard center and fruity pebble topping. I've never liked sprinkles, but love the pop of color they add, so my substitute of choice is fruity pebbles. Hardly anywhere actually has them as an option though. So now, triple excitement over the fruity pebbles! By the time we got there, they were already selling out of donut options. All that was left was red velvet and lemon butter cake. I don't like red velvet, but my husband said it was okay. The lemon one though?? If this is a donut, my opinion on them has officially changed! It was sooo good!
