I've been here twice and I can tell you their lattes and desserts are wonderful (I got a chai latte and tiramisu). I give them 5 stars for their desserts but when it comes to their all around restaurant they only get three. The gyro is all lettuce and tomato with very very little meat. Anywhere else, even "fast food" Mediterranean, has larger portions than here. Also don't order the onion rings unless you want to pay $5.50(?) for 6 onion rings. Literally six, my sister and I split them and basically saved them for last. Over priced and bleh service. Won't be coming back unless I'm reaaaallllly craving some baklava. read more

Came here for a coffee and my friend ordered a sandwich. When the waitress told him that his Discover card wasn't accepted, he said that's fine - just cancel the order. She then informed him that she'd already put the order in so he had to pay, even though he already told her he had no other means of paying. Made a very awkward situation and I ended up having to pay for his (cold, small, not worth $9) sandwich. About a minute after I sat down I realized I'd left my chapstick on the counter, when I didn't see it I asked the waitress if she had. She says "oh, I have it," and pulls it out of her back pocket. Two stars: one for the free wifi so I can type this Yelp review of OlymPISS. The other for not screwing up the tasty baklava or tea we ordered. (Cute macarons, btw, like the ones you find at Trader Joe's.) Now for the zeros on your entrees... Oh dearest Hades, I need a tongue scraper as my palate feels like it was immersed in the Dead Sea. Pricey & OVERsalted! Chicken marsala was a plate of plain white rice and breast doused in marsala sauce that was way, way too salty. Hubby had kofte kebab plate that presented nicely with green salad, plain white rice, tiny tzatziki, and yet overseasoned kebabs (seriously, lay off the sodium). Entrees came with one pita bread each. Not warm & chewy pitas, but hard like it came out of the microwave void of any moisture toss-a-frisbee hard. As for the feta & kalamata olives appetizer, it wasn't anything to write home to Greece about. Anyway, I informed waitperson that my plate was beyond salty and asked for extra white rice to remedy the disgusting entree. You would think customer service would offer an alternative like replacing the menu item or, heaven forbid, a refund. I got a scoop of extra white rice. Well, shiot. My tongue remains pickled. In the end I felt like Almighty Zeus himself sitting on the porcelain throne shooting Herculean bolts of diarrhea at 1:30 am - you know, the exact amount of time it takes to digest spoiled chicken marsala. And at 6:30 am the following day I wake to severe abdominal cramping to the point it is hard to move. I ordered a croissant and a regular coffee. I did not ask for the croissant heated. They gave me a number instead of either of those items. It took another ten minutes to get my already made items. Easy to get to, if you're in a hurry near caltrain. Typical huge menu with premade items. Par for the course. Croissant was small for US standards. It wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. The worst food I've ever had in the bay area. The quality of food in this place is very low and not all the food are freshly-made. I had food poisoning after I had their wrap. I also ordered some dolma, hoping it to be freshly-made Turkish dolma but it was canned dolma from Costco. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I came here twice in a day, not because I like this place but just happened. I got a chicken pita sandwich and chicken panini, both came with a side salad. Chicken pita was full of leaves and yogurt sauce, making it very difficult to grab and eat. Pita was not what I expected, thin and flimsy, not the one I am used to. Side salad was not fresh, greens were wilted. Chicken panini was better compared to the pita. Chicken was bit under seasoned, need some more flavor. Salad was the same old, didn't even touch it. I thought second time would be better but turned out to be just as disappointing. Don't bother to come. read more

I really wish I could give this place more than a star but I just can't, nope not happening. Came to Olympus cafe after eating lunch on Castro st. Dear boyfriend kept talking up how wonderful the place is. We ordered a Black Forest cake that looked like someone had taken nibbles out of it (see pictures). Turkish coffee didnt arrive at the table until after we finished having the slice of cake (about 10 min later we eat slow ;)). Turkish coffee was nothing special and seemed to be "burnt". Not coming back as there's plenty of other places on Castro to fill my sweet cravings. read more

Rating:3.5 Since I work pretty much next to this place, I decided to give the pastries here a try. Came in around 6pm to see what they had during that time. Surprisingly the entire bakery case was pretty full looking and I was happy I had tons of stuff to choose from! I got two macarons and a slice of red velvet cake since I was really craving sugar that day. Total came out to about 7 bucks and they handed me a number to wait (even though it was empty). The macarons were pretty good and I liked the fact that they used raspberry jam inside instead of the typical red buttercream that most people put in it. Major plus! The red velvet cake was a total flop for me though. They packed way too much frosting between each layer and the cake itself wasn't very moist. I regretted spending 5 dollars for a slice of that cake. It made me think about how I could of spent it on more macarons or that I could of used that money to put a slice of blue velvet slice of cake at Milk in LA (teehee). Customer service here is so friendly though. They all smiled when I came in and it made me smile! Will most likely return but avoiding the cakes next time. Maybe the other pastries on the left side of the bigger case? Who knows. :) read more

Decent food with a wide variety of choices (breakfast, mediterranean fare, burgers) really good desserts, great location with inside and outside seating. Especially great if you have kid(s) who love to watch the trains and buses go by. The service, however, could use improvement. The wait and kitchen staff at Olympus are clearly overwhelmed by the amount of business they are getting. Having been here at least a dozen times over the last 2 months, I can say they get about 75% of the orders correct - judging not just by myself, but all the patrons around me who often go up to complain they got the wrong item (i.e. scramble instead of omelet) or didn't get their complete order, or have been waiting an unusually long time. Hopefully they'll get it figured out sooner rather than later. read more

Authentic Turkish food with a focus on breakfast and deserts. There are a lot of Turkish restaurants in Bay Area, but this one is the only Turkish pastry. Great Sunday breakfast place with a large outside patio. Order "kavurmali yumurta" (should be #3 on breakfast menu), pogaca, borek with hot tea- you won't regret it! I've read the reviews. There is definitely room for improvement, but this is new place with a really unique concept. The food quality is great though and I wish the portions could be bigger. read more

Great location; however, the food was OK and the service was not good. The sign outside said "Soft Opening". They are definitely working out the kinks. The only thing I enjoyed was a Greek pastry with beef inside. I would like to see them focus on great Mediterranean dishes and not try to incorporate a Crepevine type menu. Love the desserts. This is my go to dessert spot in mountain view. They're prepared fresh in house and all taste just as flawless as they look. I typically get the tiramisu but have tried nearly all of their pastries. Bonus points if you grab a Turkish coffee. read more

I think it's weird that places like this survive in such a nice areas like Castro street. It feels extremely old and dirty. They offer a variety of pastry with paper-like taste, it's not what you would get in Europe even though it looks same. The regular meals have the same problem with taste. The staff is pretty welcoming, but that's doesn't matter if the food is so bad. read more

Little Turkey in a middle of Mountain View! We've been living here for 4 years and so far Olympus is one of our favorite places! We just couldn't get enough of spanakopita and gozleme:) Good food and atmosphere, friendly stuff as well as the owner. It's family business and you'll feel it! We've passed by this place way too many times, and mostly come here for their Chai lattes (yum) and desserts (yum). So today we took out if town friends in for breakfast, of which they had plennnnnntyyyy of options (yay). I'll let you know the things I wish I knew before I walked in the door for a sit-down meal: - There is NO table service. So, they won't cone to your table to take your order, nor will they let you know that there isn't table service. - They don't check on you or refill your drinks. - They also don't have signs that say "Seat Yourself", so you'll stand there looking like a moron, until you say EFF it and seat yourself. - Food is OK, but the portions are decent. - Service is off and on. Today, it was off. Maybe it's just best to stick with to-go orders....and maybe I'll give it another shot. Who knows? read more

I wanted to give this place more stars because I actually come here pretty often. Really, I could even give them a half star more if Yelp allowed it. The food is great, the desserts always taste fresh and the coffee is fairly good. However, I'm fairly picky when it comes to service. The service is fast however I always see new employees when I come here and they seem a little out of it. I asked for coffee with my breakfast instead of before it and we talked about it for a whole 30s and then it was brought out as soon as we sat down. They did take my coffee back and remake it, but the cup it came back in had a dirty handle, ugh! The food is great though- we ordered the shakshuka and menemen and they were both very tasty. So hubby & I have had breakfast & linner (lunch/dinner) here. FWIW, we liked it. No heavy cream, salted sauces, no drippy salad stuff. No pretense, actually we thought: we were abroad. Great outdoor patio area which must be the envy of all the other eateries on Castro. Wait time a bit longer but given that we were outside, we just relaxed & went w/the flow. OH! And, here was our order: fresh salad greens (no head lettuce thank you very much), a light drizzle of balsamic dressing & our panini sandwiches done just right. So we don't like heavy sauces & such. These sandwiches were lovely, just what I'd make at home & today, I didn't feel like cooking. Then we went back in to order some goodies to take home. I'm told they make them in house. Here's the gig: savory not sweet. So perfect w/coffee like, Turkish coffee or tea. Folks, if you want your chicken et al, salted or cooked in heavy sauces, then don't come here. This is a place where it's fresh & simple food at it's best. Given what I read w/other reviews, our experience was no problem using the facilities & the waiters were lovely. read more

I think this place changed management because although the food is the same, the service and a lot of the people there are way different. The food was also not nearly as good, and I don't know if that's a sign of the change or what. I just felt like we waited an unreasonably long time for our brunch, and the food we got was bland and dry and small portions. I think the location of this place make it a big draw on Sunday mornings for market goers moving their way down to Castro St, but next time I'll find a better place to sit outside and dine. read more

We waited for a really long time, ordering was fast but the food took forever although it didn't look too crowded. The breakfast omelet we ordered was very bland (I think it was missing the alfredo sauce) and the toast was very buttery. FOOD: I got the chocolate croissant here and I really liked that. I also got a cinnamon pretzel type of pastry and I didn't like it at all because it was so full of cinnamon on the inside. I asked the employee if she recommended anything in particular and she couldn't name one thing she really loved. I should've saw that as a sign to not get anything. The pastries all seem interesting and special since they are all special and unique but for my normal & super "basic" taste buds, I didn't care for anything here. I've been to Olympus multiple times for dessert and it never lets me down. I also love the Acma pastry filled with feta cheese (had to get one tonight just because ). When it's heated up it tastes very buttery and just melts in the mouth! Also went for brunch the first time today and service was very fast and it was great sitting outside. They also didn't cheat us out of champagne in our mimosas! The only down side of the breakfast was the price...a Denver omelette cost me about $13. But given the location and the significant variety of pastries, can't really complain! read more

I ordered a panini and the cheese wasn't even close to being melted. That's like the ONE rule of panini making- melt the freakin' cheese! If i wanted normal cheese, I could have just ordered a regular sandwich! Also, the bread looked like it was a hot dog bun. It came with a side salad that was literally a handful of mixed greens with dressing on top. My brother ordered the same thing and I got twice as much salad as he did. Come on, how hard is it to have some consistency? My friend ordered a scramble which came with hash browns and those were underdone, which you could clearly tell just by looking at it. It wasn't even that crowded meaning they could definitely have taken their time and just simply didn't care. It's not like they were rushed and the clear lack of effort or care was pretty disappointing. For a place on castro- there are tons of better options within 30 seconds of here. read more

This place used to be called neto cafe and has since changed names and I think owners. I love the food here. It is great for brunch and lunch as they have both small bakery/cafe items to pick from as well as cafe beverages or they have their full meal specials and plates. My usual go to items include the turkish pastry gozleme with feta and spinach and the chicken souvlaki (kebab). We ordered the French Roulade and Alfredo Omelette. The Roulade was OK, the cake was not light, too heavy and the chocolate frosting on top was not very good quality. I went here to grab something "small and light" before I hopped onto the next Caltrain. I ordered a Fruit Plate to go. I expected a small to go box, but they instead gave me a big one. I thought wow that's a huge order. I opened it up to find tiny shady little portions of strawberry, banana, cantaloupe, and CANNED pineapple sprinkled with some chopped up mint. Cmon now canned fruit?? The strawberries were fresh which was the only good thing, but man, for $4.50, at least slice up the whole banana for me too. I really want to come back and have a proper breakfast here, as it looks really good. I've had their sweets here in the past, and they are nice too. Originally I gave these guys two stars for forgetting my order; then I gave them three for good fare but forgetting part of my order. Since then I've come a couple of times for dessert/coffee/what have you and I feel like they've slowly crawled their way back up to a decent rating. The staff works hard; food is decent; desserts are lovely; and the location is stellar. Might be hit or miss when it's busy, but if you need to burn time meeting someone or waiting for the train, this is the place to do it. read more
