Been going to see Dr. Kook for over 15 years. Recommend her to all friends and family

Very disappointing experience. The older front desk lady with red hair was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful during my visit. She spoke to me in a rude and condescending tone, raised her voice at me, pointed her finger at me, and made the entire interaction uncomfortable and upsetting. What makes this worse is that I spent money on glasses that I cannot properly utilize and was never clearly informed about my options beforehand. Customer service and communication were handled very poorly. I will not be returning and would not recommend this clinic based on how patients are treated. Muy mala experiencia. I have been a patient since 2006 and from 1st day, dr Lorrie Kook always treated me like family brother. The care for the patients she has it, it's really great and there is no words to describe her care for her patients. I have a cornea damage and I need really good hard contacts lenses to be able to see anything and Dr Kook was the only doctor that was able to get my hard contact lenses fit and make me be able to see it today. First visit just happened. From what I noticed, they follow safety precautions by wearing masks and sanitizing yours and their hands in between patients. Spent $500 on Fendi prescription glasses that they fitted me for and the arms of the glasses are for a child's head, it doesn't go over my ears, since I do not wear my glasses everyday, only when do distant driving which is rarely, got the glasses in Jan and it's now Nov I notice the problem, I called them to see if they can fix it and they said nothing they can do because it's 10 months later. This is bullshit because for the price I paid they should have at least a year warranty period, fuck this place and do not go there because they will not try to help u, to me it's their fault as professionals and experts to notice the damn arms are way to short it doesn't go over my ears, poor customer service, waste of my money and time. I started seeing Dr. Kook back in the early to mid 2000s, when she had her office in Koreatown. She and her staff were always top-notch, very friendly, and super knowledgeable. Even after I moved to Ventura County, I still made the trip to her office in K-town for many years because Dr. Kook is just that good! I have terrible vision and do need expert care. When Dr. Kook had to move her practice to Paramount a couple of years ago due to the building where she had her office in K-town being demolished, I regretfully told her that I couldn't continue to see her, because the drive was just too much from Ventura County. She personally wrote me the sweetest email about our history together and said that she understood, and wished me the best. Well, after two years of seeing a highly-recommended optometrist in my current town, I finally realized that no one measures up to Dr. Kook! My last optometrist just could not get my glasses prescription right, seemed baffled every time he examined me, and even freaked me out and sent me (unnecessarily) to a retinal specialist, who wondered out loud while he was examining me why I was referred to him, because nothing was wrong with my retinas. Glad I have good insurance. Cue my call to Dr. Kook's office in Paramount, which offers convenient Saturday appointments, so even if you live more than 50 miles away, as I do, you can still get there in a reasonable amount of time and not have to fight weekday traffic. When I arrived, Anna at the front desk greeted me like an old friend and told me how good it was to see me. She got me all set up, and then as I was having my tests done with another technician, Dr. Kook came in and greeted me with a big hug and said how glad she was that I was there. I almost cried, seriously, because I knew I was back in good hands again, and that she was the one who would be able to sort out my contact lens and glasses prescriptions. Dr. Kook and her staff spent a great deal of time with me to identify what the best solution for me, and made sure that I was completely satisfied. They even arranged to ship my contacts and glasses to me so I wouldn't have to make another trip to their office to pick them up. While I was there, I learned that patients from Palmdale, Santa Clarita, and other distant towns make the trip to Paramount to see Dr. Kook. There was even a patient from Fresno (!) there on Saturday. Dr. Kook and her staff are incredible, and it's no wonder that just like me, these other patients tried other optometrists when Dr. Kook left K-town, but they all eventually came back to her. I will never again make the mistake of seeing another optometrist as Dr. Kook and her staff are simply incredible. read more

My insurance switched to VSP and I found this gem in koreatown. I walked on in weekday couldn't get an appt. But the girl was v helpful printed out my insurance and helped me find the perfect pair of Tory Burch frames. Pros: -They had wide frame selections which is huge deal for me. Armani, D&G, Tiffanys, Lacoste etc - customer service excellent. She was knowledgable took out my insurance info and educated me on what was covered and what would cost extra. - no hard sell - My exam with Dr Kook was efficient and thorough. First person to eval my tear ducts and commented on it. Also took pics for me to see on comp how clogged they were. - speaks English well - Free parking in big lot Cons - Can't get walk in eye exam - Wait for frames is 7-10 business days so not same day like at LensCrafters - when using equipment doesn't look like the wipe it down before you put your chin on it Would definitely come back again and again. My favorite eye doctor. I've been going for a couple years now. Dr. Kook and her staff are very friendly! Glasses are reasonably priced, they don't try to up-sell, and the exams are quick, accurate, and pleasant. I've gone to many eye doctors over the years, and this one will keep getting my business. They definitely speak Korean as well (signs are also in Korean and many patients seem to speak it as well), though I don't so that doesn't matter to me personally. read more

As a person who's been wearing glasses ever since elementary school and working in an environment with a lot of dust (I am in fashion!), it is very important for me to have a place I can rely on for my eyes. As a contact wearer, I usually order 1yr worth of contact lenses & they always take care of the rebates so you don't have to do it yourself! So it was time for any annual eye exam and decided to switch eye doctor closer to where I live. I can honestly say Dr. Kook was worth having my exam with. She is very professional and the the same time friendly and nice. She talks to you as a person and not just a patient. I had a thorough eye exam as I never had with my previous eye doctor. Here they don't make you feel like a number that spend only 10 minutes with you, they actually take they time. I was so pleased with her and staff, they are amazing. Very quick and affordable eye care-I had an exam, new lenses for my glasses and sunglasses, and three months of contacts for less than the price of a single pair of glasses elsewhere. I've been coming here ever since I needed eye check ups+glasses. I have never had a problem with their services throughout all these years. Dr.Kook and Anna are just very amazing and never fail to exceed expectations. They remember you by your names and create a very friendly environment for their clients. They actually care about you and are not just after your money like many doctors are. I honestly have gone to other optometrists and that made me realize even more of how organized and clean this optometrist's facility is. Compared to other optometrists I have been to, their process of exams are very well-structured and comfortable for their clients. I could really see that they have put in extra efforts for full satistifaction of their clients. +Dr.Kook is very knowledgeable and always recommends what is best for you, but never beyond necessity. This way, you can save your buck and have the best options for you at the same time. Even though they have moved to a further location (Paramount) from Ktown, my family and I continue to go through that long drive to go here. This is how much we love their services. I feel like a lot of optometrist places are run like a factory. They just push all these tests at you and then do a quick eye check, push the glasses/contacts at you and then you're done. I was recommended to her from a coworker who really liked Dr Kook, so I thought I should give her a shot. It couldn't be worse than my previous eye doctors. My contact lenses were running out and I wanted to get more but I needed a new prescription first. I called on a Saturday to make an appointment since they were actually open on Saturday. Normally you figure good places would be book for on Saturdays, so when she asked "when would you like to come in"? I jokingly asked if there was any openings today and the receptionist actually said yes! They just had a cancellation so I was very lucky. They seemed to be following covid protocols too since she asked that I only come up to the office at a specific time. They had just recently moved their office, so the receptionist was very specific on where I should park and how to get to the office. On Saturdays the front facing doors are locked. When I first entered the office, it seemed kinda small, so it made sense that they asked me not to come up to the office until the time she said. The exams started out like the other optometrist factories. :(. Fill out form, proceed to these machines to test you, but then came the Dr to examine my eyes. I felt like Dr Kook actually cared about my eyes. She seemed very factual and even took the time to take pictures of what she saw and showed them to me. To help me remember what she saw and diagnosed, she took a picture of a website with my phone! It was very strange to me when she first asked me for my phone. I was like what the heck? I guess I must have had a puzzled look on my face because she said to take a picture for you. I also liked how she double checked things for me about my vision that was odd. Apparently my old glasses were very poorly made. They have progressive lenses, and she asked if I could really read with them or not. I said it is difficult, so I usually don't use them. She knew it even before I said it. I remember my old eye doctor said I would get used to them but I never did. I also never remembered anyone taking out or putting in my contact lenses, but she did it so fast and easily I didn't even notice! She's definitely very experienced. I do remember in the past an eye doctor said my eye lashes point straight down so it's difficult to put in my contacts. read more
