I would give zero stars if I could. The "surgeon" here (Dr. Joseph Lee) cares more about money than the actual patient. After several consults, we settled on a price that was reasonable for the surgery. All the sudden on the final consult before scheduling the surgery, the surgeon complains that the price is too low for the amount of work he needs to do on my eye and that he would have to make incisions on my eyelids (causes scarring and is extremely painful). He has never made that comment before until now. Apparently it will make the work "easier" for him for how much it will cost and that other lasik doctors would do the same. I went and consulted with two other surgeons (most likely more reputable than him) and mentioned that. None of them said they would need to do that for my eye. Dr. Lee here is a liar! He acts like he is the only eye surgeon who performs lasik around here and criticizes others. He states he does not care about money but has the nerve to tell me that the amount he would be getting from me is all the sudden too cheap. He also says he is a humble guy but during every single consult he spends the entire time talking about himself. This guy even admitted he "experiments" without our consent. He told me the story of how he placed alcohol in the eyes of one of his clients because she developed an infection. He said it's not fda approved but did it anyways. I don't know about you, but I personally don't want to be an experiment to anyone. Avoid this doctor at all costs. There are plenty of other lasik surgeons out there who do much better jobs and are honest. read more

If you would prefer a more handheld experience, I'd highly recommend you go somewhere else. You can read all about the actual Lasik experience from other reviews, but these were just some of the issues that I personally faced. Take it from someone who has now had 3 Lasik surgeries with Dr.Lee in the past year and is still not seeing clearly. Original prescription ~ -6.00 with astigmatism Cons: - Difficulty with appointments. They crank out surgeries and check-ups here like a factory. The waits are long (30+ min with appt), and I've had my appointments changed from the Artesia location to Ktown LA the day before multiple times. - My eyes regressed within a year about ~1.00 and I had to do an enhancement. I went in for my surgery and he did only one eye before telling me to come back another day to do the other. Apparently, I'm very difficult, even though I have no history of anxiety? He made me feel terrible. Of course there were no available appointments for a whole month. I was seeing clear in one eye and extremely blurry in the other for a month. Cue headaches. - Post enhancement, I'm still not seeing clearly in one eye. Pros: - Price for surgeries here are half the cost of most western offices. - Medical assistants and other doctors who assist with check-ups are super sweet and professional. Had my procedure done about a decade ago. It went well at the time. Was told I would probably need an adjustment in the future. I had the procedure done at his office in K-Town/LA and it was about $1300 for both eyes and no charge for the consultation/eye exam. Called this office (I live in the OC now) just before COVID struck last year and told them I would need an adjustment since my eyesight got much worse lately. Was told the consultation/eye exam was hundreds of dollars and the procedure would be 3-4 times what I paid 10 years ago. This makes ZERO sense. I asked her why and the receptionist said I must have been given an "introductory/discount rate". I don't buy this for one second. She did mention the consultation fee would be waived if I went through the procedure, but that's not much of a comfort given it was free previously /w no stipulations. I was expecting to spend hundreds given the technology hasn't exactly had any major technical leaps causing a need for such sharp price increases. Even factoring in 10 years of inflation doesn't come anywhere near the price I was quoted. Guess I will just accept wearing glasses at these prices. What a shame. read more

Dr Lee did my lasik back in 2009 so this review will be about my satisfaction with my procedure and not the office environment, staff, wait times etc. since I honestly can't remember it and frankly doesn't matter since after 6 years my vision is still great. Dr Lee made me feel comfortable about the procedure and his skill and expertise. The entire procedure took only a few minutes. He recommended that I come back a day after my procedure to make sure there wasn't any wrinkling and that it this step was essential in the long run. My friends have gotten lasik done at more than double the price. I also go for vision exams once a year (covered under my medical insurance) but because I still have close to 20/20 vision I always end up getting a pair of sunglasses. I've also had one optometrist say that my surgeon did a good job because he couldn't tell that I had lasik done. read more

I have my lasik over a year ago I've got double vision: my left eye sees far good but doesn't see the near very good and my right eye is the opposit. When I went back to check with him I told him about my issue and he told me "you will die in 70 years so who cares that your vision didn't get better"! Do NOT go here. There are tons of good ophthalmologist out there! I made an appointment with Dr. Joseph Lee to have my eye checked due to blurry vision. I NEVER SAW HIM AT HIS OFFICE. Instead, there was this very rude, condescending bitch who kept calling me "honey" instead of my name. She told me Dr. Joseph Lee only sees patients with severe cases or those that need surgery. WTF?! So my issue is not important enough for this doctor to see me? Is this even legal? I saw an ad in a medical directory book under the name JOSEPH LEE. Why would I see anyone else other than this man at HIS OFFICE? The woman also rushed me to the point it made me uncomfortable asking questions. DO NOT GO HERE. Okay, so it's been just a little over 3 months. My eyes have all healed and my vision is about as perfect as it's going to get. Which means I'm seeing a little better than 20/20. My prescription was not severe, but I was tired of relying on contacts and or glasses. I am 100% happy with my choice to do it, and that I went to Dr. Lee. I'll admit this, he lays it out in front of you in a no BS way. He's not going to pet you on the head and tell you it's all right. He was honest, and bold. You want a Doctor who is confident in his skill set, especially when it comes to this. And I wasn't the most easy patient. I asked a ton of questions and my eye-reflex was strong. I went to almost all the other "eye institutes" before choosing Dr. Lee. Here's how it broke down in terms of cost for most of the places. Dr. Chao - $4600 and he suggested PRK. No thank you. No little blades. That seems so 1990's. That was a quick in the door and get out if you don't sign right then. Dr. Manger - $4900 and they were in for the hard sale. Push-push-push, and I'm paying for his Maybach in the parking lot. And ditch the hair dye Manger. LASIK Institution - $4300 Nice offices, the staff was friendly but also wanted to close the deal right then. Nvision - $5200 wow! Are you kidding me? Am I paying for your rent? Now I went through a lot of testing. It was tiring. I found out a lot of these places don't even own the machines they stick you under. You're paying for the machine! All these places included "lifetime" service. Okay... that's great and all but what if your place goes under in a year and a half? They have no way of saying it will or won't and you're out the service and your money. I shouldn't need "lifetime" service. And if you don't sign right then, they know you won't be back so it feels very used car salesmen-ish. You should do it right the very first time... Not the third time. And TRUST ME... you don't want to go through the healing process three damn times. Now this is what those places didn't tell you during the sales pitch. First. They numb your eyes. They tape you down and use a device to pry open your eyelid. They do each eye separately. So after the first one, you know what's going to happen on the second one and your mind can race. Then you're supposed to hold still, it's a little freaky. I could feel the cut and hear the suction as the flap was lifted. You can smell the burning of your eye as the laser does its work. This is the same for everyplace. They don't want you to know this, because a lot of people run for the door. Then afterwards, comes the burning feeling. It's like pepper spray in your eyes. But they aren't kidding, in a couple of hours you can see! Do not believe you can go back to work when it's done. Oh hell no. You're going home and passing out. It take 3 months for a proper healing. No touching of the eye EVER!. I started sleeping in sunglasses. You bump it a little and you freak out. Now, do you want to do that 2 more times, seriously?? Keep your lifetime service, I'm just going to do this once. Unless you feel like spending a lot and getting the same thing, go right ahead? And that's why I went with Dr. Lee. The cost was right on par with my prescription. Less than half the other places. The staff was super friendly and they make sure you follow up for the appointments because Dr. Lee wants to make sure he work on your eye is to his standards. He is a dedicated man who was there at his offices the very next Sunday morning for the followup. If you're wondering what to do, go to the guy who knows his job inside and out. Dr. Lee. What an amazing experience! Dr. Lee was very professional, honest in the consulation, and his prices are impossible to beat. Many people associate cost with quality. But after extensive research about LASIK and many reviews, I am sure that Dr. Lee lowers his prices cause he can. Each LASIK surgery is 100% profit once the machine costs are paid off. He's just being patient friendly by making a little less per surgery as opposed to making every penny he can off of us. He told me the pain/watering would go away after 4 hours; if it doesn't call him immediately. Like a lie, at the 4 hour MARK, pain and watering was gone. I had 20/20 vision again! When I contemplated getting my lasik surgery, the first thing I did was check Yelp. Why? The answer: why not? After going through pages upon pages of reviews, I decided to get the consultation and...was NOT approved for lasik. I was given some tips on how to pass next time and Dr. Lee offered another consultation after 9 months (for free). I was happy that they told me I wasn't a candidate (at the time) and it was reassuring that they weren't just out for my money. I came back 9/2015 and was approved for lasik and did it the week after. On the day of the surgery, there was a hiccup with the process but the stuff handled this fine. The actual procedure itself was around 10-15 minutes (and I'm pretty sure that's an over-estimation). I'm writing about 15 months after my surgery and I still see 20/20. I've owned a lot of useful things in my life: a Costco card, a plunger, a keychain bottle opener, jumper cables, Rain-x, etc. -- getting lasik is the single greatest purchase I've ever made. If you have the disposable income for it, it's something I highly recommend.* *am not responsible if you get the surgery and aren't completely satisfied. I did not qualify for LASIK surgery, but I'll review the customer service leading up to. I made an appointment on short notice because I had been running on my old Rx glasses for way too long. My dog ate my more current Rx glasses, so rather than going to the eye doc I wanted to see if I qualified for any laser eye surgery. Dr. Lee migrates between offices, and I'm closer to the one on Wilshire, but I needed to see ASAP. I first made an appointment in two weeks, but then my glasses went missing and found them shattered in my dog's crate, so I pushed my appointment to the very next day. Now, I don't know why my GPS told me to go through the buttcrack of LA, but it did. Traffic pushed me about 15 minutes past my appointment time. I called the Wilshire office to forward me to the Norwalk office, but they said it was fine and there was no need to call them. When I walked in the clerk recognized my name and voice, and said in a tone that I was late. That didn't make me feel all that awesome about my appointment anymore. I felt pretty ashamed although I did what I could to get there on time, but whatever. I went through the motions of getting checked, but once I met Dr. Lee things were better. He looked really tired at first, but struck a conversation about how I didn't qualify, and for about 30 minutes we just chatted about eyes and other interesting things. I was pretty pleased about Dr. Lee. I didn't feel so awful anymore about rushing to see him. BTW, I have thin corneas and moderate astigmatism (shaped like an hourglass on the surface): glad to know now! He suggested that I see him again in two years, to see if my corneas change or stay stable. He also advised to avoid rubbing my eyes, like, for the rest of my life. But unfortunately I have to give his business 4 stars for the early handling. I went for my free consultation and same day lasik surgery (if I was approved to be a good candidate). My experience overall was great. Staff was all friendly and explained everything very well. They knew what they were talking about. They were thorough with everything. The only reason why I didn't give a 5 start was the wait time. My appointment was at 2 .. it took about 30 minutes of waiting after I filled out my paperwork to get called in for all the test. After that there was a wait to get the actual consultation. Then after that I waited to see dr lee. He was very professional, confident in his work and honest which I appreciated. I was a good candidate so he approved me for lasik surgery. Then still waited around for my turn to get the actual procedure. Finally, around 6 pm I got my lasik procedure. It was a bit nerve wrecking but it was quick... the time I went into the operating room til I got out, it must have been less than 10 minutes. Here's how it went: Lay down. Dr. Lee tapes down your forehead down with tape... I almost laughed because it was so unexpected. Then he puts drops to numb your eyeballs. Waited a few seconds for it work in full effect. Then he puts this clamp on your eye to hold your eye lids open. The nurse puts more eye drops to prevent your eye from drying. I don't know if it was because my eyes are small but the clamp hurt as he winding it open. It stretched open your eyes really wide. I just kept starring at the red light in front. Then Dr. Lee said that this is the part where I'll feel a little bit of pressure. A round black thing covers your eyes and I think that was the laser machine that cut your cornea. That lasted probably for like 3 seconds. Then once the cornea was lifted, everything went SUPER blurry. My eye sight was already really bad (-8) but it was even more blurry. But I could still see the red light. Then, the actual laser part. He warned me that it will smell like something is burning and I will hear a clicking sound. That's the laser. So he zaps it for about 30 or 40 seconds and the whole time I just kept on looking at the red light not trying to move my eye ball. Then he cleaned the surface with more drops.... and then put the cornea back... adjusted the cornea making sure it's on properly by wiping it down... more drops... On to the next eye. It only lasted a few minutes for each but knowing what to expect on my second it was a little more scary for me...but knew that it would be done quickly. However, my second eye hurt more when he clamped it open! I think that pain distracted me of feeling any other anxiety or fear of the procedure. I was so relieved when he removed the clamp. I don't think other people really felt that uncomfortable with the clamp but it was pretty uncomfortable for me, more so on my left eye. Maybe it is because my eyes are small. LOL The recovery is another story. They give you instructions on how to take care of your eye following the procedure. I'm sure each doctor's office is a little different. Here were some of the steps I remember I had to do. First week, there are 2 drops you have to put in your eye every 4 hours - antibiotics and steroids. And they give you vitamins to help for your eyes. Then week 2, you just keep using one drop twice a week. Apply eye drop as needed when it feels dry. You can't get water in your eye for the first 24 hours so shower before your appointment. You can't do eye make up for the first month or apply eye cream the first week. You can't rub your eyes for 3 months. You can't swim either of course for 3 months. I was happy to go home in the evening and just sleep. They give you some pills afterwards. I think one is an anti-anxiety pill and 2 others.... I forget but I remember feeling really drowsy afterwards. You can't drive home after the procedure so you need to have a ride ready. I'm glad mine was in the evening so I just went home and slept. You have to sleep with goggles they give you to prevent yourself from rubbing your eyes or sleeping on your face. It was good I had them on because my toddler son threw a ball at me the next day. I kept them on during the day while I was at home because I know I'm clumsy and with young kids, you never know when they'll poke your eye. I went back for my 1 day follow up appoint. I drove myself during the day. It was great. My eye sight wasn't 20/20 right away but good enough to see and rive without glasses or anything! HALLELUJAH! Night time driving is a bit different. All the lights are very bright and halo-y. They said not to drive at night until you feel comfortable. It's been about 2 months since my procedure. I got it in January. For my 1 month follow up, I was seeing 20/20. Overall. I LOVE IT! my life has changed. I am so happy with the results. AND It was very affordable!!!!! Don't even both shopping around. I was shopping around for Lasik, and by far, this was the most affordable spot and am glad that I chose this place. I was a little leery as to why their price was below market average. Because of the quoted price, I was expecting mediocre service (saving over $2,000). Surprisingly, the entire team was very courteous and knowledgeable. When I finally met the doctor, I was sold! He shared his credentials and experience -- he's done thousands of LASIK procedures. I did more digging after the consultation and discovered that he's very respected in the community. Dr. Joseph Lee is not just my doctor, he is a friend. I have known him for a few weeks, and he is an all-around, hard working, decent guy making an honest living. His prices are extremely reasonable. My cost was about $1400 dollars, without any insurance at all. This is cheap. Just think of his payroll, lease, equipment, taxes, and plenty other expenses he has. $1400 seems hardly a profit, that shows that he loves what he does. He does not need his friends (you getting lasik) buying him a vacation home or an island somewhere. His skill is outstanding. His first human surgery was on his own brother! Now I'll tell you about my procedure. I went into the Artesia office. I recieved a free consultation within about 20 minutes. This is where I met Dr. Joseph Lee and became friends with him. On the day of surgery, I was a little anxious, yet pumped up and ready to go. The Valium comes after the procedure, so you may not want to ask when your going to get the boost, that's after =]. You get your eyes checked once again and it is off to the surgery room. When I lied down on the operating table, Dr. Joseph Lee walked me through it step by step, if it was an rpg (roll playing game), I would have passed the game with every secret and item possible. My point is, it was a very relaxing procedure. One eye at a time, lemon on eye, eye suction, probe to test, corneal cut, vision blurred, laser cut, smell of burning eye!, replace cornea, vision focusing, remove eye suction. duration: 5 minutes. Repeat for second eye. At night I get slight starbursts, but its worth it. It is not all that bad. It is almost as if you are looking at a light, at night time, without your glasses. The light is blurry right? Well, imagine the same radius as the blur, becoming sharper, making a 'star' visual around the light. Now, with lasik, you can see the light crystal clear (20/2X) but the radius is still there, clear as well. Still well worth it. Think of it as taking 1 step back to take 10 steps forward. Too many positives to pass based on this. After my ride took me home, my eyes were sore. Imagine working out muscles and becoming sore, same concept to me. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Was there on time for my 11 am appointment, was taken into another waiting room by the girl at the front desk just to still not be seen by the doctor at 12:30. Went to try to reschedule for another day and was told the doctor wouldn't be available until another ten days from then and that I was next if I wanted to keep waiting. Asked them if it was ok if I ran an errand super quick and they said yes and the doctor would be ready by then. Drove around the corner to fill my car up with gas, came back, saw the doctor who brought me into another room and had me wait there. By this time it was 1:40 and the doctor still hadn't helped me. I decided I wasn't about to wait 3 hours for this guy, left, and never even got a call from them to apologize or try to reschedule. i woke up from a long nap after my lasik eye surgery and the first person i saw was my bf, looking over me tenderly with a worried look. the first thing that came out of my mouth was "baby, what happened to you?" he looked at me quizzically and asked "what do you mean?" i, still half asleep and feeling gawky due to the sleeping pills, replied "you are not as handsome as i thought." i think he was expecting something like the disney story of sleeping beauty (except i am not that beauty and he's not that prince charming!), but now that i can see everything more clearly, i have a renewed sense of reality and judgment. i was very hesitant about getting this eye surgery since this was still relatively a new procedure and no long-term side effects have been determined yet. but friends and co-workers who have gotten lasik love their lives without glasses and contact lenses, and the bf encouraged me constantly since his sister's successful operation. i've done an extensive research and decided to go with dr. joseph lee based on his track record, reviews, referrals (a friend of mine was actually rejected by him due to her thin corneas) and cost. i called dr. lee's office several times, and felt more assured about his credential each time so i scheduled for a consultation and surgery on the same day. the bf who flew in from mexico to be my nurse drove us to the doctor's office. first, there was an initial check up and a long wait before i actually got to sit down with dr. lee for a consultation. he was happy with the condition of my eyes and discussed the benefits of lasik surgery, what i should expect in next few weeks and years post surgery, and possible side effects. he made sure i fully understood all the terms and conditions and asked me if i still wanted the surgery. he seemed very busy with so many patients in and out, but he (and the staff) was professional and friendly without rushing me. i decided to go with it (otherwise, the bf would've killed me). this office was really busy, so it took them a while to prep me for the operation. they re-checked my eyes, offered me valium which i declined although i was dead nervous, went over medicine dosage and follow up instructions, and even called my insurance company for drug coverage (anti-biotics) and arranged with a cvs store so that i didn't have to wait for it (they do sell the anti-biotics for $80, a little bit more expensive than drug stores, but i highly recommend getting it from the doctor's office. after the surgery, all i wanted to do was go home and rest, and wished i didn't have to stop by the drug store). finally, it was time for my surgery. dr. lee taped my head to the patient couch and spoke to me gently, explaining each procedure step by step. it was surreal. i could hear the sounds of his voice and machine, and smelled the burning laser, but really couldn't feel any pain except the pressure induced by some kind of suction. within 10 minutes, everything was done!!! immediately after the operation, they gave me some sleeping pills, so i hardly can remember how i got into my bed. my eyes felt like they were smothered with onions (very stingy and sensitive, but not painful). the next day, we drove to dr. lee's la office for post-op check up. he told me everything looked "beautiful" (he used this word a lot) and scheduled me for another check up this following week. there were many instructions to abide by, like wearing ridiculous looking plastic patches while sleeping and putting steroid eye drops 4 times a day, etc. i did while the bf was nursing me, but right after he left, i forgot all about them. i am just not good at doing the daily routine things (hence i never exercise and never take vitamins) . so far, i am loving my life with this perfect vision (except my new found discovery of the bf's less handsomeness). it's like turning my inner hd signal on...everything is so much more clear and brighter. i couldn't be happier with my decision to go with this surgery with dr. lee and his staff. read more

My review is LONG overdue. I got lasik about two years ago from Dr. Lee and I have nothing but positive to say about him! The consultation was completely free and Dr. Lee was so funny and made me feel at ease about trusting him with my eyes. The day of the surgery Dr. Lee Made sure I was ready and calm before performing my life changing surgery. The surgery literally lasted a couple of minutes without an ounce of pain! Afterwards Everything still appeared a bit blurry and I was prescribed some medication to which I completely knocked out when I had arrived home and I stayed asleep for almost a day. When I finally woke up I COULD SEE! no contacts or glasses anymore for this girl:) I went back for a checkup and Dr. Lee gave me the thumbs up that my surgery had gone well. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lee and his team to anyone and everyone. Pre-op: the consultation is free. they are extremely thorough in the consultation and won't just approve you for surgery just to take your money. that was a personal concern of mine since i was very suspect of lasik and elective surgeries in general. you need to carve out 2 hours to go through the consultation procedure. this was actually relieving for me to hear so it wouldnt just be a 10 minute look-at-your-eye check up and approval. i want my doctor to be sure that i would be a good candidate for lasik. the team measures your cornea width, eye sight, etc. i went through like four machines and they explained each step as we went. then i waited to see dr. lee. He looked at the results and approved. he was very personable. Service: everyone in the office is awesome. they are all well informed of the procedure, precautions, my needs, my wants, what the doctor does and wants, etc. no one JUST does paperwork. they are all very involved with your procedure. when i call on the phone and say my first name, they are fully aware of who i am, when i had my surgery, and how im feeling about it all before getting my file. i was timid at first regarding someone going in my eye with possibility of going blind [which you won't, trust] but after they answered 25 of my questions... i was fully relieved in their expertise. they're so friendly and helpful- ellen, chris, esther, mihae, etc. operation- i was welcomed, as usual. after going through paperwork, payment, and making sure i had my eyedrops for post-op, we went into a different room for someone to explain the operation and post-op procedure. she answered my questions and was very informative with all my questions. she, as well as many others who work there, had surgery from dr. lee so she could tell me from experience and knowledge. i didnt think i would be scared but as i sat on the table i got pretty terrified. mostly bc i've never had surgery before. but dr. lee talks to you THROUGHOUT the procedure. he was talking to me the whole time. it was extremely helpful. he would explain to me what he was doing, how it was going well, and repeatedly said "okay, great, excellent, perfect, good, good, good" and honestly that gave me such peace. the procedure took about 10-15 minutes. the scariest/most painful part was the vacuum. this is when dr. lee puts this pencil shaped suction on your eye. it takes about five seconds but there is pressure and a louder noise. it wasnt necessarily painful but its such an unfamiliar experience. all to say.. it was a great surgery, it was fast, and it was almost almost painless. post operation- you will have pain for 4-6 hours post op. i had to go home and sleep it off. i just closed my eyes since every blink felt like a small sting. but i had no pain after 4 hours. i was able to drive and such. but results would be different for each person. i do see halos at night but its already getting better, as dr. lee told me it would. the full recovery takes 3 months. precautions first week- use special eye drops, no water in eyes. first month- sleep with eye goggles, dont squit, use sunglasses. second month- still no swimming or footbal third mont- almost fully recovered [as in cornea flap is reattaching] it has been almost one week since i had my surgery. my eyes are getting better each day and i have fully confident in dr. lee and the team when they tell me that it will get better. and still if it doesn't, all post -op procedures and check ups are FREE for one year. today i went in for my one week check up, dr. lee said everything was going well and recommended i get reading glasses for when i study so my eyes dont go bad while in graduate school. he also reminded me that if, by chance, my eyes dont recover to be 20/20.. he will be sure to fix it. he is good about reminding me that it is all free within that year. and he also provides a house made vitamin that helps eye inflammation, dry eyes, and eye aging. you can get 2 bottles for $90 but each time i go in, the team gives me some more sample vitamins for free. they want my recovery just as much as i do. price: it is the best price around. his website tells you exactly why he is able to charge such a low price. in my opinion, you really don't have to compare prices with other places. they won't give you a price unless you get their consultation anyway. And i would not want people to compare prices anyway... you should look for the best doctor you can find bc you only get one set of eyes. oh. and for reference i was -5.00 both eyes with astigmatism. [$1950] now im 20/20 [: they also provide you with the essentials like sunglasses, eye drops, etc. but what really got me was how they aren't stingy about giving me extra samples of preservative-free eye drops, sunglasses [after i broke mine], and much more. they really want you to do well. every single person on the team wants you to have good sight. read more

Dr. Lee is good and honest person he checked my eyes and he told me im not a candidate because my cornea is too thin but he say to come back in two years so they can check me again to try another method, im satisfied with his diagnostic because he was honest and he didn't want to take just my money. read more

I was very pleased with the procedure, although initially scared to go thru with this procedure the doctors and staff reassured me that I would be okay and all would flow smoothly. Just did my 3 months post op and my eyes are still a perfect 20/20. My experience with Dr. Lee has been nothing short of amazing! The staff are friendly and they always make me feel comfortable when I walk in. I'm still amazed with how I can see now especially since my vision was in the - 8 range and a lot of ppl with that bad of an eye sight usually have to do a touch up, but since Dr. Lee is so experienced he corrected it the first time around. Ok I went to have a required yearly eye exam through my work. Its a mandatory check the box type of thing. I let the Dr. know that I had lasik about 7 months ago. He was absolutely amazed that he could not see the flap incisions. He said he had to really to strain to see it on one of my eyes. He also said that the Dr that performed my Lasik did an excellent job and I have excellent vision. I have recommended Dr Lee to all of my family and friends who are considering Lasik. Dr. Lee is amazing. I was born premature and had to wear glasses since I was a child. Even when I was older I had to use special contact lenses which were expensive. Dr. Lee told me I was a more difficult case and that my vision would improve with Lasik but not be perfect. After my surgery my vision was clear. Its been a year and a half and its still seems perfect to me. I couldnt be happier. My BF got his done somewhere else and he had side effects with his night vision. Worst place to go. I wasn't going to write a review especially since I got my lasik almost 6 years ago but even after getting it done twice by him within the year that he gave me my eyes continue to revert back and I continuously see halos and double vision. Dr. Joseph Lee worked on my eyes years ago (near sightedness), and my vision at 46 is fantastic. I'm a professional graphic designer, photographer and illustrator and I wasn't about to trust my eyes with anyone. I politely questioned Dr. Lee about his affordable pricing, and his facility in Artesia, long-story-short: he owns his machines outright as opposed to leasing them like the Doctors in Beverly Hills or Irvine (hence their 6K plus pricing + rent), and he runs a really efficient shop in Artesia. Don't let the strip mall feel fool you, this team knows what they are doing, and they are fast and affordable once they begin working on you. You might wait a while before your appointment, so be ready for that. Nothing good is free. Disclaimer: This is Lasik, so do the research and do what's right for you. In my case, Dr. Joeseph Lee was a perfect for me and I'm so glad he got to work on my eyes. read more

This place was highly recommended..it could have just been my experience but I've never felt so much negligence in a medical facility before. I spent most of my 3 hours there waiting to get helped. When i finally was able to get my tests done they said "they werent perfect but it would do". They took two weeks to finally fax my results over to my doctor after i called every other day to find out why they werent sent. When they were finally sent they were inconclusive results. What made the situation worst is that they wanted to charge me again for a copy of the results that i had already payed for. Im writing this so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I've been rushed as soon as I got past the front office and there are people literally running down the hallway every couple of minutes--really unprofessional. Staff is nice, I just think they need to work on being professional. The inside needs a little remodeling too. Some have a little trouble with English, so talking on the phone can be pretty taxing. I have to say I am extremely pleased with my experience with Dr. Lee. The guy knows his stuff and is genuinely there to help people. I went to several consultations and ended up going to Dr. Lee for several reasons: 1) He genuinely is there to help people and doesn't have a problem turning people away (about 1/3 of consultations) for the benefit of the patient. 2) Even though he has the technology, he is the only doctor that didn't try to sell me wave-front (about $1000 more) because he told me that with my prescription was so weak that I probably wouldn't notice the difference had I gotten it. 3) His reviews on Yelp when you search in Los Angeles & Lasik were pretty dead on from what I saw on the consultation. 4) His prices are drastically lower than most of the other quotes I got (even w/o wavefront). 5) For a doctor having performed over 40,000 surgerys, he's never had a lawsuit filed against him which is especially rare in California. Immaculate record and again he does turn people away rather than making the extra buck. His office definitely wasn't the newest that I've been to, but his machines are top of the line. He knows his machines like the back of his hands. He calibrates everything himself. The wait times can be a little long, but much of it is attributed to him taking the time to prep and explain each procedure he does with everybody. I noticed that he generally recommends longer wait periods of refraining from certain activities so that the eye can completely heal. I did a lot of research and asked each doctor the same questions about how long I'd be away from physical activities. Although those wait periods are generally longer, I like to hear that because it shows that he is serious about his patients having a successful recovery. read more

Well, now that I've had LASIK through Lasik Eye Center at the hand of the talented Dr. Joseph Lee I can definitely SEE why he was so highly recommended by fellow Yelpers along with a few people I personally know that previously had their LASIK procedure done here and were extremely happy. Everything at this place was run pretty much the way I would want it to be if it were MY business with MY reputation and pride layed into it. Starting with offices that were kept and felt clean, though not very decadent or fancy (not that a bunch of blind people are going to notice anyways). Then going through a comprehensive pre-screen and evaluation that made me feel confident they were actually determining whether I'm the right candidate for such a procedure and not just seeing me as dollar signs or if I'm just someone consuming one of their limited parking spaces. The assistants were friendly, knowledgeable,and seemed well trained even though one of them, Kevin, had only been there for 3 weeks! Finally came my moment with the individual who would have my future vision in his hands, actually it would be a microkeratome and Nidek Laser system, but I wanted to feel good about the person guiding such powerful and terrifying instruments. This would be Dr. Lee. What I appreciated most about Dr. Lee's methods is he seemed to anticipate every worry, question, and concern one would have before and during the surgery and addressed them in a very thorough and reassuring way that didn't feel at all pretentious with an attitude of "just trust me, I'm the Doctor." If you have a history with medical professionals you know what I'm talking about. By zero hour, I felt comfortable and confident I had made the right choice and everything was going to go well. And it did, obviously, since I can now be typing this on the world's smallest keyboard. I recommend LASIK Eye Center. In the end it all came down to my eyes, my precious eyes, the only damn set of eyes I will ever have. These eyes that now have perfect vision from the moment I open them when I wake up in the morning to late at night when I pass out watching tv from my bed. What luxury! read more

I waited 2 and a1/2 hour! My original appointment was 11:00 but one lady called me to change it to 10:30 so I came at 10:30 just to wait 30 min longer!! The place is old and messy. If I knew I had to wait this long, I would not have come. The girl who works here says this is not even their busy day! Beware of super long wait if you are planning to come here! They actually told me to go get lunch so I did. Then I saw dr Lee. He was so personable and nice. So personable that he started talking bad about other doctors and bragged about himself! He kept going on and on so I knew why I had to wait so long. He likes to talk to his patients about gossips on other doctors! I felt like I was talking to one of my girl friends! I have done alot of research on excimer laser, both doctors and equipment. My eye prescription: is -8.75 Left and -8 Right. Like everyone else, I wanted the best doctor to work on my eyes. My first pick was Dr. Maloney in West L.A. He's famous and has operate on alot of celebrities. I paid my $200 comprehensive test (the tests were free with Dr. Lee). I was impressed with the facility, and staff Dr Maloney' uses Visx V4. I scheduled for surgery with Maloney's partner Devgan. Cost is $5800. Four days before the surgery, I decided to get 2nd opinion. My wife found yelp review on Dr Lee. So, I decided to call for same day consultation. All the tests that were done in Dr Maloney's office was free. Little discomfort on measuring the thickness of my cornea bc no anethesia drop was given. Finally, I was seen by Dr. Lee. He takes his time to answer all my technical questions. Two things really impressed me: Dr Lee patients were 99% Asian. Secondly, Dr Lee has performed over 30000 successful surgeries. He recommended Nidek w/ microkeratome for my eyes due to the high success rate for myopia. That's why I decided to go w/ Dr. Lee. The whole surgery is less than 15 minutes. 3 hours after the surgery I was able to see. I went out to eat dinner at A &J in Irvine. It's been 3 months now. my left eye is -.25 and my right eye is 20/20. The only side effect is halos at night which is pretty common. I can drive at night , no problem. The facility isn't as nice as Dr. Maloney and aside from the long wait (it's worth it), but it was more important for me that I chose the right doctor. And, I did. I'm glad I chose Dr. Lee as my Lasik eye surgeon. read more
