If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. Let me start by saying this place is completely fraudulent. They overcharge insurance (like Medi-Cal) and make false claims. They tell you that you're getting "new glasses every time" -- which is a lie -- and then bill Medi-Cal for it. When I asked for proof, they couldn't provide any. Instead, they told me to Zelle them $85 for new glasses, which I did. Later, I found out Medi-Cal denied their claim because the office has a history of false charges. Now they're refusing to refund my $85, claiming my Medi-Cal "isn't active." Total scam. Please don't come here -- avoid at all costs. They are dishonest, unethical, and take advantage of people. Update just call them to get an update about getting my money back and I believe it was Dr.Frohn himself just treating me with his lawyer for putting my review. In the U.S., you are legally protected under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (2016). That law makes it illegal for a business to punish or sue you just for sharing an honest opinion or negative experience, as long as what you write is truthful and based on your real experience. read more

Love the Dr, not the staff. Purchased several pairs of glasses over the years. After 8 months the coating started coming off and a lens's popped out. I called and the girl said I had a 6 month warranty. So nothing they could do. Now, I always get the most expensive coating. I never have had this issue before. Since I had an excellent relationship with the Dr, I told the girl to let him know I called. Never heard back except when they called me two years later to remind me about I'm over due for an exam. Went to a new Dr who put my lenses back in for free. Of course now he's my optometrist. Just a little service can go a long ways. read more

I had a great experience from beginning to end, it was my first visit and as soon as I entered I was greeted and assisted with any questions I had regarding coverage and appointments. I was able to get an appointment same day but due to my work schedule, I scheduled the following day. Dr was pretty awesome, he was polite and expressed I didn't need to have fancy frames so I didn't feel the pressure or need to spend any money (I did end up buying some Versace ones since I'll be wearing them everyday now) Maggie was great, she helped me pick frames that matched with my facial frame. 10/10 read more

Dr. Shah is just the best. He is very thorough and makes sure the patient understands everything. Maggie is also the greatest! She is very attentive and helpful when you're trying to pick frames. She gets a sense of your style, the shape of your face, your prescription and makes good suggestions without being pushy. Maggie is always so patient with me as I have problems with the glaucoma test. This is huge for me because I've always struggled with the test and I've been wearing glasses...let's just say a long time! ;). At several other places I've been the techs have gotten attitude and pushy which only makes the situation more stressful and overall worse. They carry a wide selection of frames in different price ranges so there's something there for everyone. My appointment was on a Thursday, they told me my glasses would be ready in 2-3 weeks. I got a text the FOLLOWING THURSDAY to alert me my glasses were ready for pick up. I was even more thrilled the text came in the morning so I was able to maneuver my schedule to pick them up that same day. Super professional, super personable! Did not really enjoy my visit here . My old optical office closed down so decided to check a new one out . The eye exam was good & the ladies and Dr were nice during the visit ... , however when it came to purchasing contacts or glasses I felt pressured. They only offered me a 6 month supply and I was skeptical of buying 6 month for both my left and right eye. My previous doctors have noted there's not much of a difference in prescription so if it'll be difficult for me to keep up with L/R I can just get same prescription on both . They were thrown off when I asked them just to get same prescription for both and they still just kept pushing the 6 month supply. I had to tell them I would be back because one thing is I don't feel pushed to buy anything & I've been using contacts for over 5 years, I know my usage and the amount that is needed for a year for me . I can push a 3 month supply for a year as at times I use glasses or just don't use my prescription eye sight at all ! I spend lots of time at home so there's no need for sight LOL Anyways shortly after the visit I ended up in Mexico & bought contacts there (no need for prescription there lol just show them my old contact box) . I recently ran out of my contacts from Mexico so I decided to dial up this office because hey I can't get contacts or glasses here without a up to date prescription. I called to get my prescription emailed they said due to hipaa laws they aren't able to email but they can text me my prescription or come for it into office , & that I should have asked for my prescription... honestly this ticked me off because I have NEVER had to ask for a prescription , EVERRRRR in my 30 years of life , my eye doctors have always handed it to me after the visit . The guy on the phone stated they were prob busy , nope I was the only person there & their main priority was trying to get me to buy something I was unsure of instead of giving me my prescription which is honestly the whole point of a yearly eye exam to see if a new prescription is needed or not ! I noticed that they gave me a less strong prescription from the one I've had for years I been on -2.75 for about 2/3 years and they gave me a -2.00... I don't think my eye sight has improved at all . I don't consume vitamin a like that . Like make it make sense. Anyways still on the hunt for an optometrist. read more

Rude and judgmental. My insurance changed and decided to try Dr. Shah. First visit was fine. Got a pair of glasses and sunglasses. When my glasses got scratched and I called about getting them replaced since it was covered they told me I would have to go without my glasses for 2 weeks. Ended up getting a new pair elsewhere. When I can back for my next annual Dr. Shah made a comment about the glasses I had that they looked cheap and I must have gotten them from Walmart. This made me so mad. 1. You don't know me and what I can and can't afford. 2. Just because I didn't buy your $500 glasses doesn't mean yours is better. 3. If I did get these at Walmart that's my business. The fact that he can judge someone based on what they can afford is disgusting. I got my prescription and will never come back. read more

The front desk worker, Carlos, was not kind or helpful. As a new patient, I was very disappointed in the lack of customer service here despite the glowing reviews on Yelp. Carlos was very impatient and rude during my phone call to create an appointment. He would not check my insurance over the phone. After I asked him to check my insurance, he kept explaining the difference between vision and medical insurance to me and saying I need vision insurance despite my medical insurance plan having a co-pay for an annual eye exam and being in-network at this office. I was then quoted over $120 for my exams, which I would have had to pay had I not asked him to check my insurance when I came into the office. He also kept asking me if I was sure that I didn't forget a unit number for my home address despite me telling him that I don't live in an apartment so I have no unit number. It created an uncomfortable experience all around. Dr. Shah was kind during my exam, but I was so disappointed by the customer service here that I would not recommend this place or return for future visits. read more

I and my entire family have been going to Dr. Shah since Dr. Frohn retired. I have had excellent service and care from Dr. Shah and his entire staff for many many years. Dr. Shah has always had my best interest at heart and only prescription new glasses when my eyes have changed. When I needed cataract surgery, he provided great advice on the type of surgery to select since there were many choices now available. His staff including Maggie are professional, friendly and help me select glasses within my insurance and personal budget. I and seven members of my family trust Dr. Shah with our eyes knowing he always has our best interest at heart. I only have one set of eyes and prefer to go to him rather than anyone else. Dr Shah is nothing but a scam artist. Charged me way more for contact lenses than anywhere else. When I asked about a rebate that I usually had gotten before, he said he didn't have any and would "text his vision rep" about it because I told him I probably wouldn't get the contacts without a rebate (they're so expensive!!!). He quickly left the room and came back with the rebate offer in hand saying to me that his vision rep was in the area and came back to drop it off. Right!! How Amazing is that? What a clown. I stupidly bought contacts from him and called my previous optometrist to see how much they would charge just for reference, and it was like $150 less with them. Beware of this place. I like Dr. Shah, I really do. He's welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable about his work. I've come here a couple times and have recommended him to my family and friends. Now? Probably not. With the last two visits, I've walked out feeling horrible about them.. Mostly because of their customer service. I actually just got done with my visit and I told him how dry my eyes were with the current daily contacts he recommended me to get. He told me the reason was because my prescription is very high and that the contacts are slightly thicker, so the cause of them getting dry is inevitable. I didn't even get a chance to try different lenses, he just put me back on the same ones even when I told him they were a problem for me. Without even thinking, I just trusted him but then later realized there are A LOT of other brands and alternative dailies he could have tested me out with. But I went in there feeling like I had no options. The total came out to $578, and I went home and thought about my decision and decided to give them a call about what I could do about my situation and see if I could try a different brand. The answer was "Sorry, but we've shipped them already." Visit was literally 10 minutes ago. No refunds or exchanges with this place. I'm stuck with the contacts I felt weren't the right choice for me! Also, I want to mention that the receptionist Nelly is very rude. She came and sat me down on the optometry chair right before my appointment with Dr. Shah, and said "Sucks your mom's insurance couldn't cover your contacts this year huh?" Gives me a smirk and leaves. Had she stepped aside and let me know before my visit, that would have been a nicer interaction, but the way she talks to me I just can't stand it. From last year's interaction as well, she just sighed and rolled her eyes at me and made me feel like she couldn't give me the time of day to fill out paperwork. And please, do not call me "hon". And to Susan, you're a total sweetheart! Edit: Dr. Shah called me personally and apologized for himself and on behalf of Nelly's account. He provided me a refund for the contacts and has ordered new trials for me to test out. He was kind enough to explain his actions and he basically told me that under my mom's insurance, I am considered medically necessary so I only have a few brand options for daily contacts, but has owned up to his mistake in forgetting to let me know and that he is not here for my money. His team is doing everything they can to provide my best interest because they are not "intentionally ill willed". Thanks for recognizing me! read more
