The tagliatelle was disappointing, felt a little one note and was on the dry side with the sauce to noodle ratio especially as you got to the middle. Both pastas were a good portion size. We also got the peppers and burrata to start, the burrata was solid but fairly standard and the peppers were flavorful with the peach and ricotta although were a but charred tasting for my preference. I'd give it a 3.5, and will admit that I'm a harsher judge due to the prices and the Michelin star. We waited months for a reservation and I was just underwhelmed. The service was good. The wait staff was attentive, even if it was a little slow between courses. The food for me was fine, but not stand-out, and it didn't justify the prices. My favorite was the ravioli, but as other reviews have noted, it tasted slightly uncooked instead of proper al dente. It also needed much more sauce than they provided because the undercooked pasta was extra starchy and dry on the palate. The gemelli was the least successful dish for me, such a weird flavor combination. The creamy sauce did not go with cherries at all. All in all, I doubt I'd go back. read more

Yummiest pasta I've had since moving to Denver, and I LOVE pasta. The green color of the Gemelli kind of threw me off but it was so good. I went here for my birthday dinner with my sister. The earliest reservation they had for two people was at 8:30 pm even after I booked the dinner 1 month in advance---they are BUSY. We tried the tasting menu and I got the Reserva wine pairing with it. 5 courses with 6 beautiful pairings cost us about $400++ but I would pay it again in a heartbeat. The food was so good, and deceptively served in smaller portions. The one dish I did not like out of the five was the Fritele which came out too salty for me. I would preface that this IS how the restaurant presented it and I just personally do not prefer food that are too salty. The wine lairing they had with it was a great choice for the slaty course. Albeit the pasta is homemade and thought is put into each dish, I was a bit surprised to pay $65 for a HALF serving of pasta and one appetizer. Yes you read that right, you can get a half serving of any of the pastas if you want to sample multiple however keep in mind although it is a half serving, it is more than half the cost of the full pasta dish which I wish I got. All the apps were amazing, flavorful and unique. The true stellar dish was the pasta though. The tagliatelle was out of this world!! Get it you won't regret it! The food here is exquisite. Everything on the menu has a distinct farm-to-table taste and texture, which is very unique for an Italian restaurant. Their menu is small, featuring a handful of thoughtfully crafted dishes prepared using what tastes like the best possible quality of ingredients. The service is impeccable as the staff executed every aspect of our experience to perfection. They even went as far as bringing us palate cleaners between courses, brought complementary champagne for our anniversary and came over to refill our drinks the second the glasses became empty. The earthiness of the tomatoes and pecorino cream in the green-colored Gemelli dish made for some unforgettable bites, we felt as if we tasted the sheep a little if that makes sense. The Culurgiones were pleasantly spicy with had some very intriguing flavors. And the Focaccia, let me tell you is probably the best bread I've ever eaten. But on the other hand the Pecorino Cheesecake is also on that 'one of the best' list given how soft it was and how great of an accompaniment the huckleberry preserves were on it. I'll say however that in the small plates, the Grilled Spanish Octopus left something to be desired. The octopus was delicious but we wish there would have been a little more on the plate for the price. Also the cocktail program is not the absolute best, as although the cocktails were strong the flavors seemed a bit muted. But those back-of-our-mind drawbacks definitely didn't detract from our experience whatsoever. There's also a comparison to be made between Olivia and Tavernetta, both similar Michelin nod-worthy establishments. The flavors I would say are a little more amplified at Tavernetta and their cocktail program wins out, but Olivia provides the better experience and that farm-to-table taste in the ingredients is unforgettable and simply can't be beat. Olivia also wins out in the desserts category for sure. The price is definitely worth it here, you really can't go wrong picking this place for your next special occasion or date night. This is such a special place in Denver, and I'm so glad I got to come here on a special occasion recently. First off, the service is impeccable. Every single member of the wait service was wonderful, and really went out of their way to make the evening special for me and my friends. Haven't experienced anything like this in awhile, so I am really grateful for that! The food is perfect for a cold winter night. Wow, Olivia was truly worth the hype. You must have a reservation and this is not a cheap dinner- but it's a wonderful experience. They would make for a perfect birthday or anniversary date. It sits on the corner so make sure not to drive past it- and parking can be a little difficult so leave yourself some extra time! I was incredibly impressed with the service and quality of food. They were also surprisingly gluten friendly for an Italian restaurant- even offering some gluten free pastas (any non stuffed pasta) and gf bread. The bread was moist without being too dense, and has just the right touch of salt with the cheese. I would order the buffalo ricotta in a heartbeat to compliment any meal. Their mocktails and cocktails were unique and so flavorful. Even if you don't drink, try one of their zero proof drinks. I savored every drop! We had the fall risotto and wow it was the perfect almost curry like flavor to go with the dense rice while my spouse had the curgliones and the venison entrees. The presentation of the venison is gorgeous and they said it was the most tender and flavorful meat they had ever had. The food, service, and ambience are all 10/10. We did the chef tasting menu for 110$ a person (5 courses + focaccia and a palate cleanser in between 3rd and 4th course) and every bite was exquisite. The staff were equally as impressive, checking in frequently, clearing table and cutlery between each course, a dedicated waiter for serving water and some of the dishes were served by the chef himself and each one accompanied by a detailed description. When I booked the reservation online they specifically asked if there was a special occasion and I let them know it was my birthday. Without even reminding them when we arrived I was wished a happy birthday and provided non alcoholic champagne and a giant chocolate chip cookie. It's a small restaurant but beautifully decorated. Given the size they book up for in advance so make sure to book early! Reservations for the month open up the first of each month before (so October opened up sept 1 etc) The only subpar thing to say is the neighbourhood it's in is not the nicest. Unfortunately we parked on the street (although there may have been parking behind the building) and when we came out we noticed someone had smashed the front of our car (and didn't leave a note so we don't know who it was) so sadly a very very expensive dinner but that's no fault of the restaurant. Probably best focaccia I've ever had, presented as a mini loaf cut in half- so soft. Arancini- nothing I would've picked but my friend knew better- these were "flavor bombs" as confirmed by Kim. I ordered the carmelizes onion raviolis, shoooo. I took them all on a little swim in the mini cheese pool (Gruyère fondue) at the bottom of the dish before cleaning my plate. Was worried about too much dairy, but the portions were honestly perfect. The masa tortellinis were also exceptional (corn and butter and chili oil mmmm), and my friend loved her crispy artichoke risotto. No misses. Very pleased to enjoy the apps and the entree without feeling like I had too much of a good thing...meaning I still had room for dessert and got the chocolate boudino - chefs kiss! I had one issue with one of the pasta dishes and they were able to fix the issue a without concern. Their tagliatelle was delish and creamy I would get that again cause I love a good bolognese, gemelli was good but a bit rich for me but still worth it. The focaccia is a must, so get it. We had a fantastic dinner at Olivia! The service was amazing from the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left. The entire restaurant is spotless, moderately quiet (you can actually have a real conversation) and decorated beautifully. I have to say Restaurant Olivia met our expectations for a celebratory special dinner. Food and service were great and the dining room, while small, was very pleasant. We started with cocktails, which were all expertly prepared. The menu is manageable, but not overwhelming. We did not find all of the dishes on the prix fixe menu option appealing, and so we ordered a la carte. There are a number of pasta dishes and appetizers, but only a couple of traditional entrees. Service begins with a wonderful focaccia, complementary, which is becoming a rare treat these days, and I always appreciate this now. It's hard to believe that some Italian restaurants don't even offer bread these days. We enjoyed our all the appetizers we sampled. A real standout were the grilled asparagus. Perfectly prepared. The Venison Polpette were delicious as well. The chef used huckleberries in the preparation which was such a pleasant surprise. Everybody in our dining party enjoyed their pasta selections. Perhaps the weakest dish was the spaghetti with shrimp. Nothing bad here, but for our taste just the weakest. Parpadelle with lamb was delicious. One disappointment was that the menu online showed stuffed squash blossoms, which were not available. I realize there is always a risk of the online menu veering from the actual offerings, but I was surprised as this restaurant seems to pay attention to details. Some things to be aware of that might bother some diners. A 20% tip is added automatically. Not a concern for me as I usually tip that much for good service. I know this policy may offend some, so know this before you go. A pet peeve for me is restaurants that use Tock, which is not my favorite platform for reservations. When I see Tock, it usually means I have to pay a deposit or the full dinner fee up front, and there are often strict policies to cancel. I get it, but sometimes things happen. Another dislike about Tock is that restaurants don't credit your check, but issue a refund, so sometimes you are waiting day for your refund, AND you've paid for your full meal. Boo to restaurants that use Tock. Keep those points in mind, but otherwise I expect you will have a great meal at Olivia! read more

The cocktails were a lovely start and very creative - like my pea-vodka-mint drink, which was so refreshing. And my husband loved his whiskey drink with ube! We had the focaccia, which was great with garlic butter, and the arancini, to start. All were delicious! I also appreciated that many dishes were meat-free. We enjoyed the risotto and the ravioli, but the ravioli was the star. Oh, and the cheesecake! It was so light and beautifully flavored. The service was excellent, with all of the staff being super attentive. They add a 20% gratuity charge, which they communicate well about, and you can add additional tip. The restaurant was small and chic, but also casual and comfortable. You wouldn't feel out of place wearing nice clothes or casual street clothes, and people were in all varieties. Then we went into the prix fixe for Valentine's Day, 5 courses for while the only feedback was: I wish I could do it again. A great bread course, an egg raviolo, a sausage pasta, a bison tenderloin, and a pecorino cheesecake with huckleberry. And the wine pairing was FANTASTIC. Better than most, if not all, of the Michelin restaurant wine pairings I've had in Denver. We would definitely go again, and we're extremely happy with our choice to eat at Olivia. read more

Make a reservation on their website! The location had about 10 tables, only able to seat 2-4 people. The setting was quite dark, but a lot of lights, very fancy looking. The servers were wonderful, they chatted about how the restaurant goes on trips and brings back flavor knowledge translated into their dishes. Our server explained a bit more of the entire menu and highlighted their 5 course tasting, though we were more interested in the individual dishes. They also filled water several times during our starters and entrees and cleaned away the entire table between the two. The octopus was a tad salty and spicy but the potato purée had a nice flavor to go with it. The sformato was really interesting, basically like a flan, very smooth. It didn't taste much of mushrooms but did have some slight earthy flavor. Before the entrees came out, we were given a spoonful of aloe vera sorbet with a hint of lime as a pallet cleanser. The lobster spaghetti had a very heavy sauce, but the lobster pieces itself were delicious. Once it cooled down a little, the pasta sauce got a little thick to eat. The bolognese had good sauce, not too overpowering and the noodles had a good chew. The duck tortellini came in a nice broth that had a nice flavor. Loved hearing about each wine in our tasting - esp as someone who has lived in wine country (Napa/sonoma). Even the timing between courses was perfect. I wish there was more Swiss chard and veggies to the dish to help the balance. Lastly was a tiramisu dessert made with whiskey- quite possibly the best dessert I have ever had. The wine pairing is worth every cent- I know wine well and each wine was so delicious and complimented the meal perfectly. (I do wish for slightly larger pours as they were all so fabulous).
