We ordered some ice cream for the kids, cotton candy, and by then there was a long line of people behind us. There were two teenagers working and the one helped us get the ice cream and check us out. The kids ate some of the cotton candy ice cream but didn't finish it all. May have been too cold and windy outside to enjoy it since that was the only place to eat it. I thought it was creamy and sweet but nothing special. I got the huckleberry cheese cake and wish there was more cheesecake pieces in it. My husband found me one good piece to try and it just wasn't enough.

They have many flavors...cookies & cream, cotton candy, strawberry banana, lemon meringue, vanilla, watermelon, cherry, black licorice, hot cinnamon (super hot), coconut, peppermint, chocolate, huckleberry, buttered popcorn, caramel swirl, pomegranate, tangerine, apple pie, green apple, chocolate caramel mocha, raspberry lemonade and frosted cupcake. We enjoyed all flavors except hot cinnamon and watermelon. Both were way too overpowering with flavor. I also bought some of the homemade Peanut Butter Explosion fudge. It was so good! Perfect combination of peanut butter and chocolate fudge. Overall I was impressed with this candy store. Everything was fresh, prices were reasonable, and service friendly. Would definitely recommend.

This place is absolutely amazing! We came in for my birthday, and honestly--I've worked in a lot of restaraunts and eaten in even more-- this is definitely at the top of my list of all time favorites. The burgers are absolutely instagram-worthy just to look at---and even better to eat! I had a Rueben sandwich---and it was the best one I've ever found on the entire west coast in my 31 years! Full of meat, delicious sauerkraut (My grandma was from Germany so I really mean it when I say deeeelicious) the bread was toasted to perfection--quality cheese--the sandwich itself was huge--came with a side of homemade red potato salad--I could only finish half of my sandwich before I was stuffed. The to-go box was adorned with a sweet little heart and a handwritten thank you. Personal touches all around-- reminiscent of the Gingerbread Village I knew and loved as a child--the whole place is very thoughtfully put together, has a wonderful flow and was very clean without feeling sterile--very cozy! While we waited, we were even given a few family photo albums with Oregon photos dating back to the early 1900s. Service was top notch and they even asked for suggestions and took much consideration in our answers--all the way down to how we liked our iced tea! When we got our bill--we got gingerbread cookies too---soooo yummy! Great conversation, positive atmosphere, wonderful ambiance, thoughtfully decorated, and the sweetest happy birthday pep talk I have received from a complete stranger in my life. Totally made my day! Thank you, Carol! If you weren't across the counter I definitely would have hugged you!! Highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone and their grandma! We have eaten there several times in the last few months and we love it! We had a birthday party a couple of weeks ago and we had a party of 8. Carol made the birthday experience for my father-in-law who turned 89 absolutely wonderful. She asked him a few questions and it was fun listening to him answer and tell some stories we had never heard. The staff is always so friendly and attentive. The food was awesome - we have tried several different items on the menu and it's all been excellent and very generous portions - much to my husbands delight. I am a vegetarian and she makes a ginger-veggie wrap that is delicious. It has again become a favorite place for our family to meet up on Sunday morning for breakfast or afternoon when we don't feel like cooking. Thanks Carol for your wonderful, engaging personality and for making this restaurant special again. Carol always goes out of her way to make sure we have everything we want/need! Portions are very generous, the menu has a wide variety of classic American fare (which we lack in the greater Florence area); breakfast is served all day! They've been short-staffed for a while, yet they bust their butts to keep things rolling and the smiles on their faces. If it's busy, relax and enjoy the surroundings; grab the photo album and peruse it; check out the dessert case and other items for sale; have some grace that they may be tired and stressed and doing their best. If it's not, ask the staff questions about the history of the place or of Florence. Dog-friendly! Carol has made a nice space outside for dining with your pooch alongside. Great for nice days! We take the 20 minute drive to Mapleton just to go there and support our local, family-owned, hard-working business and are never disappointed! read more

i eat the food here on a daily i think its wonderful great family friendly stop on the way to the coast! what i dont think is okay is for someone to eat here one time and yes maybe your experience wasnt a good one but your not taking into consideration that this particular restaurant is opening at 4 am to feed the many firefighter we have out here fighting the sweet crk fire these people are exhausted and yes maybe they have an off day but its not okay for you to come once and give a bad review come multiple times before you run your mouth after 3 times if its still bad then give a bad review but dont knock it over one bad experience these people work their asses off to feed you just remember that plus they risk their lives working during a pandemic just so you can eat! read more

We had such a great experience at the Old World Gingerbread Village. We were greeted by friendly staff and the owner. She was our waitress and tempted us with many ideas for our meals. We were delighted to read the menu with everything being titled after famous Oregon spots that we had just visited or seen from a far. Everyone was super excited for their different foods. We had huge hamburgers, extremely large omelettes, amazing stuffed French toasts with Blackberry syrup and Lemon Curd, sweet tasting Gingerbread pancakes. My youngest, very picky, son said that his French Toast was the best he had had at a restaurant. This is high praise coming from him. We were stuffed and happy at the end of our visit. Yummmmm, my father, Forrest, and I, drove to Mapleton this morning for lunch, his third or fourth time, my first, and NOT disappointed at all.....Dads only complaint was he couldn't eat it all, nor could I, so we brought home our saavory treats to eat for dinner....our sandwiches reheated nicely!! Did I say yum!!?? It's worth the drive from Florence....nice, clean, redecorated inside, very welcoming!! Thank you Carol Sarault for your friendly hospitality and your smile!! If I could give more stars I would. By far the best hamburger I have ever had! If you're rolling through on 126 to or from Florence STOP HERE AND CHECK IT OUT!! the Matron gave us old family albums to look at while we waited for our food. It was like eating at Grandma's house. The atmosphere was delightful and the service was EXCELLENT! I cannot praise this place enough! Definitely stopping every time we go to the coast. The burger I ate was the Bill Karsoniv, spelling may be off but it was AWESOME! Ate at The Old World Gingerbread Village Restaurant on November 28th, 29th, 30th and December 1st 2019. When we walked in, for Thanksgiving dinner we got the last table in the restaurant. Thanksgiving dinner was excellent and consisted of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, sweet potato, salad, bread, pumpkin pie and more. The wait staff and owner were working as fast as they could. We were so impressed with the service and price of such good food, we returned for dinner on November 29th and 30th. December 1st we went for breakfast. Saturday night is prime rib and live entertainment. Drove 18 miles from motel in Florence, Oregon to eat at Gingerbread. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant numerous time. The food is always deliciou. My recent experience with the Old World Gingerbread Village was December 27, 2024. The ser was excellent and you could tell that there was one person doing the job of several, being ran ragged. The woman who owns the restaurant was in the kitchen helping the cook. She is normally out front waiting on people. She came out once while her waitress stepped outside for a much needed break. We stopped by for just a bite after dropping our daughter off at the airport. We had the garlic cheese fries (wow, huge plate of yummy goodness!) We loved it. The burger my wife ordered was so big she only ate a quarter of it! My french dip was one of the best I've ever had! The owner came by and chatted us up and shared ideas and some old pics of the area. The ambiance is just like we just left back in Germany. Some people didn't even look around at the art, the decorations, or spend time listening. The whole experience was so good, we went back a few days later! This is not a "fast food" restaurant, this is the traditional family restaurant that leaves you feeling full and happy! Several years ago I had the a chance to thank the owner who was picking up restaurant supplies at Cash n Carry(US Chef Store,now) in Eugene. She is a delightful women who cares about giving people a great meal more than anything! We stop by on our way to camping trips or our Oddfellows meetings, always need to grab some of the best gingerbread cookies for later! We have got to go before as well as eaten in and equally delicious but I do like the atmosphere of the restaurant and the tea. It's not overly fancy but nice for a date or with children it large and has a private room for events as well it seems. The service there is great and I look forward to going when in the area
