I had really been looking forward to visiting this restaurant, having heard about it a few months back. It was an enormous disappointment. When we arrived, we were waiting for a table. That's fine, except there were at four tables empty that we could see from where we were standing and more further into the restaurant where we couldn't see. We were the second party waiting, and it took about 10 minutes for just to be seated, which wasn't really an issue... but whilst we were waiting, a party of two walked in--when there were three parties of two waiting--and they immediately seated that party that came in several minutes after the rest of use who were still waiting had been standing there. Several minutes prior one of the servers had come to make a list of the waiting parties, so I'm not sure why these folks weren't added to that list and instead seated. The service was agonizingly slow. I don't know what the issue was; if they were short staffed or this was a normal day, but it was 15 minutes or so before our server came to take our order after she brought us water (which was of course a few minutes after we were seated). She apologized for the wait when she came for our order, so that suggested maybe it was unusual. I let her know when I placed the order that if my daughter's food was ready before mine, it was okay to bring that out ahead. But things didn't improve from there. Somehow, the people that were behind us in line and seated after us got their order before us, about nine minutes after we even got to place our order. We ordered our food at 9:54 am. Our order was a kids platter which is a pancake, egg, and a piece of bacon, and a McKenzie omelette without mushrooms. Nothing too crazy and not a lot of food, right? Our server didn't come back to us once after she took our order--not to ask if we wanted more water, if I wanted another lemonade, nothing. She walked by and looked apologetically at us a few times though, which I guess was supposed to make up for any service. After waiting about 25 minutes I finally had to wave the server over and asked her how much longer it was gonna be for our food to show up. She said that ours was the next order up and I asked her in minutes how long that was gonna be because I didn't know how long I was going to keep my toddler in an okay mood (she's an exceedingly patient and easy going child, but by this time we'd been at this restaurant over an hour). She went back and brought out my toddler's food. Fantastic, but imagine my surprise when it wasn't what was ordered. I had ordered the kids platter, remember? What came out was the Mickey Mouse pancake with a scrambled egg. I don't know how those two things could possibly have gotten mixed up because they're completely different from each other to the extent that they shouldn't even be entered similarly, since the only item that is the same is the pancake. But it had finally come out, it was cheaper than what I ordered, and at that point I just needed to give her something to eat. (She had sipped most of my marionberry lemonade by that time, so at least one of us got to enjoy it.) It was 33 minutes from the time we placed our order for a Mickey Mouse pancake and the single scrambled egg to show up at our table. I told the woman that I wanted the bill corrected since what she brought was $7.50 (the pancake $5.50, the egg a $2 add-on). My McKenzie Omelette didn't arrive until after 10:30, more than 36 minutes after I placed the order. When she brought it out, the server asked if I wanted a box and then asked if I wanted her to box it for me. Yes, I said, since I was not going to be able to stay and eat it there. She came back shortly thereafter with my meal boxed, along with my receipt which she said she took $5 off of (or her manager did, I guess, since she had said earlier that she needed her manager to correct the charge for the pancake for me). My thought was not to pat herself on the back too hard; they really only took $3 off the bill because I asked them to correct it and be charged for what we'd received, not for what I ordered. Beyond the service, one item to note is that the chairs at the tables all have arms, which isn't very comfortable for bigger folks. They appear not to have high chairs, but they do have a kid's menu and crayons. It seems like everyone else has a great experience here, and as I said at the start it may just have been an off day for them, but I'm not willing to bother finding out for myself. I left a tip and I shouldn't have; there was almost zero service and it was honestly one of if not the WORST experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I'm never coming here again and will make sure my friends and family know to skip it too.

visiting family in eugene prompted us to do a short drive to veneta for sunday lunch today. this place definitely gives off former church vibes with the windows and arches inside. the clientele while we were there leaned older (ie senior citizens) however we did see the occasional younger couple with toddlers. there's free standing tables and booths, in case you're going with people who have mobility issues. there are sunday brunch specials but also a regular menu which would be fine for people without dietary restrictions but if you're looking to sub out dairy products or potentially avoid meat or gluten, it might be rough going. food quantities were totally reasonable and wait time was not a problem. the service was fine and the servers accommodating and pleasant.

In the area for the weekend. We were seated quickly. We decided to split the fish & chips & the Cobb Salad. Both items were delicious! The salad was fresh & filled with lettuce, spinach, grilled chicken, boiled egg, blue cheese, nuts - very good. The fish was crispy- not greasy & super good. The fries were great & the coleslaw delicious. This is a church that has been converted. The stained glass was coo. The seating was very comfortable. We would definitely go back!

It was a nice sunny day and I was in the neighborhood so I thought I would stop and try this restaurant. I asked to sit outside as the weather was gorgeous. The patio was nice and I was the only person out there to enjoy. I liked the lovely fountain and the server was prompt to get my order. Unfortunately, there was no one there that could mix a cocktail for me that was on their menu. I opted for a glass of wine. I ordered the small Caesar salad and requested a piece of salmon. The salad was just the way I like it with nothing but fresh Romaine, some Parmesan cheese, homemade croutons tossed with just a little bit of dressing so it was perfect. I was rather surprised at the size of the piece of salmon I received for $13. It was maybe a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square, not even 1/2" thick. A dinner roll also included with my meal. I will probably return to try one of their breakfast dishes, but they are a bit spendy for breakfast compared to some other nearby places. I looked at their bakery area and saw a lot of nice looking sweet temptations.

I came here to have breakfast when I came to the Oregon Country Fair. It was like coming to an old church. The courtyard is also nice, so it can be used for events. When you enter, it is divided into two floors. The main one is in the spacious chapel, and the other one is in the room down one step, and there is a bakery. Both have tables and chairs, so you can eat there. We ordered French toast, vegetable omelet, and coffee from the menu on the chapel side. It opened at 8 am, but it quickly became full of customers. The service of the staff at the store is very good and the food was good too. We want to visit again.

    BLT on focaccia, half order

Stopped here for lunch. Place is cute inside and there is an outside patios to eat as well, just 5 tables or so. We initially sat inside but the airconditioning was turned up so high, we were freezing and opted to go outside instead. No problem, waitress was very accommodating. I had the BLT on focaccia which was delicious. Bacon nice and crisp and three pieces on my half order. My friend has the Reuben and said it was good. 4 stars instead of 5 because I had to remind the, twice to bring out my drink, for the frigid airco and for the fact that if you want to split an order, you have to pay $3.50 extra. So we each had our own half order, which some things on the menu you could not do. Weird....

This was a trip to the Sweet Home, Oregon area to hike McDowell Creek Falls. (Highly recommend the falls hike). On our way, we stopped at The Point, just outside of Sweet Home. Not much to look at from the outside and kind of a diner atmosphere inside. Somewhere, I read you had a "view" to the water. As you can see from the picture, it's a view (sort of) to Foster Reservoir. OK. However, the food and service were surprisingly good! I ordered the special of the day, a Chipotle Burger. Cooked perfectly with 1/3 lb local beef patty, bacon, chipotle sauce, lettuce, red onion and accompanied by some very good fries. My wife had the grilled cheese and it was awesome as well. Her only complaint was it had too much bacon. Yes, you heard that right, too much bacon. I also have been trying NA beers and the only brand I have found I like is Deschutes out of Bend. They had a Golden that I hadn't heard of and it was, in true Deschutes fashion, very good. Our server was Becky and she was amazing. She greets the regulars by name, was very helpful and informative, but not too chatty. If we were in this area again, we would definitely go back. Without hesitation. Great find!

The small pieces were the only drawback. Sweet potato fries rounded out our meal. Melted marshmallows with some cinnamon or pumpkin spice would have been a great accompaniment with the sweet potato fries. Dessert was their luscious coconut cream pie. The crust was crunchy, pie itself was smooth and just slid down your throat into belly heaven. A must try for sure! Atmosphere was calm with a few other diner. Flies swirled about overhead in the main dining room and saw cobwebs hanging on a lamp by the window.

Both were outstanding and way better than I expected. To be honest, the pasta dish was one of the best I have ever had and this is one dish that I am critical of because I have had really good Jambalaya pasta and some bad ones. This one was way way up there. The sausage was excellent and the chicken and shrimp were perfect, but the sauce made the dish. I can not wait to have it again. The whole staff was friendly and our waitress was excellent and very helpful. My only regret was not asking for a window seat when we got there. We had a reservation and there was a table by the window that was open, but we got seated by the entrance. A couple that walked in after us with no reservation got the table by the window which was odd. Again, not a deal breaker and I should have asked to sit there. I definitely would not hesitate to eat here again or recommend it to everyone. I am looking forward to the next visit.
