    Clam chowder supreme

Came here with some friends while on a trip around PNW. We all ordered versions of the Clam Chowder. I got the Clam Chowder Supreme. I liked the chowder, but I enjoyed the Marionberry Crisp a lot more. Service was friendly, but slow. At the end after waiting a while we ended up going to the counter to pay our bill.

Excellent restaurant. This place is super easy to get into and is very popular. Menu items don't come out fast because it feels like everything is made from scratch to order. The service was amazing and our server was fun. We had the clam chowder, the crab cakes and the seafood pot pie. The pot pie was like molten lava (so be careful if you dig in too soon). Flavors were good and there were larger sized pieces of potatoes that weren't perfect cubes, so I know it was homemade. The clam chowder was excellent and not as bacon-forward as some are. The crab cakes were ok, but lacked flavor. Portion size was excellent at three crab cakes for 16$ the dipping sauce was excellent and adding lemon also made a difference. We ordered a marionberry crisp Ala mode and it was good, but they should have called it a crumble rather than a crisp. It was a sugar and cinnamon rolled out crumble. We wouldn't hesitate to return. They have a full bar and it appeared their boozy brunch is also very popular.

Absolutely amazing clam chowder! Brilliant to put crab and shrimp under melted cheese! The halibut was perfectly cooked, not greasy and light. Great service too!

I recently visited Reedsport and heard from the locals that This restaurant was the best in town, but I was highly disappointed. Firstly the service was barely friendly. I ordered the BLT w/ fries and my mother ordered the HL Burger which she ordered Med/well. My BLT was average at best and I could not even taste the Pesto Aioli. The fries were just ok. My mother's burger was Med/rare. But the waitress was by herself and the restaurant filled up so we felt kinda ignored. We did not complain. My mom did have the Onion rings which were good. I probably would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, not very friendly, mediocre food, too expensive for the quality. Honestly, Dons Diner down the road is far superior.

Harbor Light Restaurant was absolutely delicious! The clam chowder was so good -- truly the best in town. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, and the overall experience was fantastic. Highly recommend!

We stopped on our way to Yachats for our mom's wedding and all the food was delicious and quick. The servers were so friendly and made sure all our needs were met. The homemade spaghetti bolognese (current special) and the home made mac n cheese was my favorite. We also got the barbacoa quesadilla (current special), BLT with avocado, and fish and chips all delicious. Our wonderful server also provided us cider we loved and a Marionberry crisp on the house due to hearing about our mom's wedding and wished her the best. It was absolutely the sweetest and most amazing Oregon hospitality we've know and come to love.

I haven't Yelped anything in ages, but had to jump on here to review Harbor Light. I took my sons (7 & 11) camping at a nearby park and we picked this place for dinner one night. We loved it so much that we went back twice more, for a total of three visits in just six days! Every single thing we ordered was outstanding, even the sides. Best brussel sprouts I've ever had. Both of my kids (one of whom is a picky eater) said it's their favorite restaurant ever.

They're really good at simple, hearty food. The clam chowder was basic, but became delicious when combined with shrimp, crab, and a cheesy top. However, the fish and chip coating was a little thick and slightly soggy. The restaurant was somewhat loud, also. All in all, a nice dinner, but not a place I need to return to.

    Smokehouse burger and onion rings

After eating one of the worst pizzas last night, this was an OMG experience. The Smokehouse Burger had the patty, tri tip, applewood bacon, pepper jack cheese and a house made BBQ sauce with onion rings. The flavors exploded in my mouth, so amazing. The onion rings were perfectly fried (not over done)! This was an awesome meal! I highly recommend if you are in Reedsport, Oregon!

Seafood Pie - a true symphony of flavor! YOU MUST TRY IT! Nothing less than 5 stars

If you're looking for a culinary experience that transcends mere dining, Harbor Light Restaurant is it. Their Seafood Pie isn't just food--it's a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that may have ruined all other meals for me. The rich, creamy filling bursting with perfectly cooked seafood was topped with puff pastry so airy and divine, I half expected angels to appear with every bite. And then with grace and warmth, the staff appeared to check how I liked my meal. My in-laws were equally entranced by the Elk and Smoked Chicken Pies, both of which delivered bold, savory, and tender flavors that left us all speechless. And I can never shut up! And just when we thought the meal couldn't be topped, along came the Marionberry Crisp. This dessert was pure magic--a sweet, tart explosion of marionberries under an amazingly delicious crumble, served warm with a dollop of ice cream. It's the kind of dessert that I can never have enough of! Not too sweet, just right! Harbor Light doesn't just serve food--they serve life-altering moments.

Greeted and seated right away, we arrived at noon. Menus were provided as well as glasses and a carafe of ice water. It isn't a very large place but it does feel roomy and the lighting is good. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The food was so good as to have an addictive quality. I didn't even notice when a refill of my soda appeared. First came the calamari appetizer. It was breaded nicely with light seasonings. The calamari itself was a little chewy but still very fresh and flavorful. As an appetizer it is large enough for two to share or a meal for one. Next came the chowder and cheesy bread. The previous reviews kept going on about it, and being the chowder snob I am, I had to give it a go. The chowder was very smooth and creamy. Extraordinarily smooth and creamy. There were very tender and nice sized pieces of clam. The small pieces of potato were cooked to a perfect doneness with nothing grainy or overcooked about it. Then there were some absolutely tiny shreds of carrot and light herbs for seasoning. This was not thrown together. Someone took the time to 'create' this chowder with carefully measured ingredients for a perfect flavor. Did I mention how incredibly smooth and creamy the chowder is? They also sell it by the quart to bring home hot or cold. Had I known I would have put an ice brick in my cooler and brought some back. The cheesy bread I got with it was also very flavorful. It tasted to me as if it had a combination of Cheddar and Swiss with maybe a dash of parsley on top. This is made on a hoagie roll sliced down the middle and toasted. The cheese combo is a very good flavor. Finally, the Elk Shepherd's Pie. This was a perfect rendition of the British Shepherd's Pie but done with elk rather than lamb. There is a base of ground elk with carrots and mushrooms in a very thick hearty stew. This comes in a ceramic bowl and has a nice thick layer of mashed potato on top. This is then placed in an oven and cooked agin until the potato is a slight crisp toast on top. The elk stew base is peppery which is very warming and the meat sauce is very rich, thick and dense. This is a heavy and hearty meal that is suited for cold wet climates such as we have in England. This is a properly dense Shepherd's Pie and is a filling meal all by itself.

We ordered the halibut roll, the crab roll, and a crab cocktail. The halibut roll came out looking just like the crab roll, not fried but fresh. Halibut isn't my favorite of the coastal fish dishes but my husband said it was good. I really enjoyed the crab roll which was filled nicely in a toasted, soft, buttered roll just like the kind you get in Maine. The chips were a nice addition as well as the pickle. The crab cocktail was good, small, but good. The cocktail sauce could have used more kick to it as it felt ketchup like with a bit too much sweetness. It was a dreary day and the wind was blowing so it made the entire outdoor experience a bit too cold. Even with the plastic sides of the tent up it was cold. I wished they had turned the space heaters on so the experience could have been more comfortable. Parking was easy on the pier as no one was around. There was no entertainment either other than the howling wind. The service was very minimal as ordering was done at the food truck window, food was picked up from there, and we had to bus our own table.

The place is made up of shipping containers painted Blue (hence the name) One container is a food truck. We ordered a crab roll and a halibut roll. Both were heaped full of local goodness The next container is a bar- we opted for a hazy IPA and a glass of Pinot. Third container is the stage for the band. There is a dance floor space and many folks were enjoying the band and dancing the evening away. We grabbed a seat at one of the many picnic tables and listened to the band while we dig into the rolls. Nearby there were some serious games of bags going down. Definitely will return when we are back in Winchester Bay!

Finally, with friends visiting from Washington, we made a special trip up to Reedsport, just to try it out. Best dining experience for a long time, for each of us! We called in for reservations, and the host nabbed us a table by the window, with an incredible view out across the bay. Upon arrival, Ron greeted us like we were family, and promptly offered us a tour of this very unique facility. The remains of a retired Coast Guard cutter, the entry way brings you into what looks to be a steel galleyway. Portholes peek through to the bar area and dining rooms. Up top, guests can reserve a private dining room, built from the original Bridge Cabin of the ship! Ron's original artwork adorned the walls of the place, and were quite unique - definitely adds to the decor. We sat down with the menu, and were pleased with the excellent variety of items available. We started off with the Clams Portuguese appetizer, and all LOVED it! In my opinion, it could have included a few more wheels of the Linguica, but the flavor was perfect. The drinks menu was very inviting, but considering that we were all extending our Dry January tradition, opted to try them on another visit. For our main course, my partner ordered the Beef Stroganoff. Being an aficionado of this dish, and having her own special recipe herself, she really loved how the flavors blended. Our guests ordered the Spaghetti di Frutti di Mare, and the Shrimp Louis salad. Both were delicious! I requested the Huckleberry-glazed Salmon, and was delighted with the consistency. The turmeric rice side dish was fantastic as well. Our favorite item was the Flowerpot Bread - a dense, two-toned baked roll, with a crusty shell. Very nice for wiping out all the delicious sauce residue from our meals. The parking was just a minor challenge; it is shared with the restaurant next door, so we ended up parking in what seemed to be boat trailer spots. Fortunately, there were no boats coming or going that evening, but it could be dicey during salmon season. We will definitely be back soon, however, to try out some of the other excellent-looking menu items!
