Our Coastal Restaurant Run -- 4 Days of Food, Friends & Fun!…read more What started as an idea to get a bunch of retired food-loving friends together turned into the BEST little coastal adventure! We hosted our friends at our home on the Oregon Coast for four days and decided to make it all about what we love most -- good food, great restaurants, and even better company! We hit the road along Hwy 101, exploring some of our favorite spots from Coos Bay to Brookings. Our first pick was SHARK BITE and we all had wonderful food and this was our lunch. Every meal was an adventure, and we had so much fun comparing dishes, discovering new favorites, laughing until our sides hurt, and enjoying that beautiful coastal scenery along the way. We even made our own little Coastal Restaurant Run theme, complete with painted rocks and a restaurant passport. Each stop became part of the memories. The best part? It wasn't really about finding the best restaurant. It was about slowing down, eating way too much, sharing stories, and enjoying four days together. Good friends. Good food. Good times. Great memories. If you love food, beautiful coastal drives, and discovering those special local restaurants along Hwy 101, we highly recommend making SHARK BITE on your list to stop and eat. We'd do it all over again in a heartbeat!

This little slice of heaven was one of the best places we have eaten at in a long time. I was instantly feeling a modern Fried Green Tomato Whistle Stop Cafe vibe! Family owned and operated. This place is a must if you are in Coos Bay!!! Portion sizes , prices were perfect, and food was cooked & presented like you were in a high end restaurant. The family atmosphere made you feel right at home. The conversation with the staff, was authentic and real. I dropped in for breakfast about 830 on a Thursday morning, and the place was wall-to-wall so I grabbed a seat at the counter ... my favorite table in a diner. Immediate service from behind the counter, even though she had several tables out front and a coffee pot in one hand. As she delivered the menus, she went through the specials, which included a couple of items with chorizo sausage that almost made me change my order. I ordered a very generous ground sirloin, Patty and three fried eggs, skipped the potatoes and toast and subbed a beautifully cooked pancake and a fresh fruit bowl. While I waited for my food, not very long, I got a chance to watch the short order cook work the griddle, and what turned out to be one of the owners work four pans on the cooktop making eggs. There's a certain raw beauty to watching a short order cook on a griddle. It was clear watching people come and go, that most are locals. Over half the customers I saw come in greeted by name and their drink order put on the table without them, even having to say anything. Clearly, this place has an amazing following and the owner confirmed it's out the front door on weekends. What an awesome way to start my morning in Coos Bay.

We were greeted immediately when we walked in and waited while the group in front of us placed their order. The girl taking our order let us take our time with the menu and answered our questions nicely. She was super friendly! I ordered the Chopper burger with mac and cheese (for an upcharge), my friend got the Single Saber, then we got the bread pudding and peach cobbler for dessert. We got it all to go since they were closing soon and we didn't want to keep them late. The food was ready within about 10-15 minutes and was still warm when we got home. My burger was PHENOMENAL! It had a really good bun with some kind of herb seasoning on top and a delicious sweet BBQ sauce. The mac and cheese was also good and had a nice smoky flavor. My friends food was also good, they really liked the burnt ends but wished they came with some sauce. The desserts were alright but weren't the stars of the meal. We heated them in the microwave for two minutes before eating them so they were a little mushy but still alright. The bread pudding smelled like BBQ but didn't taste like it so that was weird. The cobbler was just alright. We have leftovers so I'm wondering how they'll be tomorrow when cold. The place itself is small and unassuming. It's hard to miss with the bright green paint. There is decent parking and both indoor and outdoor seating. Their prices were pretty reasonable for the amount and quality of food that we got. They also have all-day breakfast, so we will probably be back again during this trip! Definitely stop in here if you're in town. It is worth it!

The food was delivered to our table in a timely fashion & my chicken sandwich was the largest I've ever had served in the Coos Bay/NB area in the 25+ years I've lived here. While large, it was a bit short on the big taste I was expecting. Perhaps, as they fine tune their dishes, they'll offer a hot honey or other special sauces to make the most of this.
