Stopped in on a Sunday with a party of 8 and a baby the staff was friendly but there were a lot of mistakes made on the orders 6 of the people are now down sick and the calculation on the check I think we're a bit off 3 groups of 3 two of the checks came to 30.00 some dollars and mine came to 55.00 I tried to ask about it but just gave up and left I was hoping for a regular spot to stop but it won't be here. read more

I wish I could give a lower rating. Went in got seated right away then it went all downhill from there. Lady took our order and another table came in 10 minutes later and ordered. They got food before us. SMH. We all ordered soup along with entree. Well entree was served first and then soup. Had to send soup back as not hot. Pea soup was really gross. Not soup but thick as wet paste. Then waitress spilled water all over the MRS. Waitress said would take care of us. She brought out two packages of the HUGE sticky buns. Amazing comfort food. I wanted to eat everything on the menu. The biggest treat was the sticky buns. They are enormous. I'm not kidding. Four of us ate on one of them and still about 1/3 of it was left. On top was a huge pile of nuts that were cascading off. I had fork after fork of nothing but caramelized nuts. It blew our mind when the waitress asked if we also wanted the caramel sauce poured on top. What?? That's an option?! Of course we did. I also had the most amazing cheese covered garlic fries with my sandwich. If you like a diner that still serves up great food at long gone prices and portions, this is the place to hit. I may make the 3 hour drive to the coast again just to stop there. Please keep doing what you're doing the way you're doing it! read more

Absolutely amazing food and impeccable service. I had the Canary French dip with french fries! The best French dip I've ever had and the fries were pretty darn good too along with their homemade fries sauce. It was very filling and ended up taking half the sandwich to go for later on in the day. My husband had The cape perpetual club! He said it was amazing and very plentiful. Stop in here when you get a chance. Put it in your "we need to go here list" and Go here. You won't regret it. I didn't get any pictures of our food because we ate all the food before I thought about picture taking. My Husband and I went as kids and it hasn't changed a bit we waited a little while for our food but our waitress was really sweet! She told us what happened and took care of our bill all while she kept the coffee hot! Food was amazing and fresh!! Ps the cookies are like crack! We decided to try this restaurant because we too remember the old days of the gingerbread house until it got nasty. There were four of us and we got seated quickly. The place was fairly busy. We all had breakfast and it was delicious. Food was not greasy and eggs were cooked perfectly. My only advice to the new owner is to hire some staff. The owner was taking orders, taking money, delivering food and trying to bus tables. People will not stay or come back if they feel ignored and not valued. I wish them well as everything has a learning curve. We will definitely go back on our next trip to Florence. read more

this place is magical, no cap. i'm new in town and when i drove by it, i thought i must have been imagining a mystic gingerbread house in the middle of the woods and i certainly was not. my friend and i opted for the drive-threw and were greeted by who we could only assume was our real-life fairy godmother. she brought us the largest box of fries, the most amazing and huge cinnamon bun i've ever seen, two gingerbread men in their absolute prime AND she gave us some extra gingerbread pieces because, and i must reiterate this, she was a goddess and our fairy godmother. a true GEM of an establishment read more

Wonderful breakfasts! Prompt and courteous service. Extensive menu. Earlier reviews have apparently caught them at "startup" as most of the comments and "constructive input" has been taken to heart and changes and adjustments have been made! We visited twice for breakfast. I got the Loggers Omelette, with the 3 meats (ham, bacon and sausage); potatoes O'Brian and sourdough toast, served with delicious homemade raspberry preserves. The portions were very generous, the eggs cooked to perfection, the best breakfast potatoes ever, and the jam was excellent. Give this newly-reopened place a chance to wow you with their dishes and their homemade pies and pastries as well. You won't be disappointed! read more

This was such a fun find along the road between Florence and Eugene. The Old World Gingerbread Village provides that small town charm and friendly service. The gingerbread stuffed French toast was delicious and was a very generous portion. Could have split it between 2 and it would have been perfect. This place had history and love and you could tell the owner was very proud and made everything with love. We got to look at pictures of her great grandparents travels in Oregon in the early 1900s. When the sticky buns came out of the oven, she gave us a free sample of the delicious, warm sticky bun. Highly recommend this place! read more

I'm never disappointed when I eat here! I'm addicted to "The Anchor" for breakfast which is their stuffed hash browns. My other favorite is the club sandwich and their fries are the all time Best anywhere! The prime rib and meatloaf are also amazing as are the burgers. She also make the best soups ever! Going to this restaurant has been part of my family history through 4 generations and since Carol has taken over she's done such a beautiful job restoring the old traditional, historic feel and combining it with some modern class. She takes such pride in everything she does and it's her true hearts desire to make sure every customer who walks through the door is satisfied, even if they're just stopping along the way to use the restroom. And truly that's how every person working there is also. They all enjoy their jobs and in return provide amazing customer service! And don't forget to take home a dessert, or at least some cookies! read more

Had a late breakfast here today. It's a great place. The food is very good, and very reasonable. The people are great. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. I noticed a lot of bad reviews which surprised me. All I can say is, this is a place to take your time and enjoy it. If you're expecting the snappy rushed service of a corporate chain restaurant, you might be disappointed. However, what you get is far better in my opinion. read more

Appears to be a small town, quality, down home establishment from outside. The staff was made up of friendly yet grossly incompetent servers. We were sat at a dirty table. Water came 5 minutes later, weak coffee another 5 minutes after that. After ordering from our dirty, nasty menus we then kept ourselves busy killing flies until the food arrived. The food was simply bad. Literally the worst biscuits ever. How do you make a bad biscuit? Ask this place. The coffee was never refilled, which was welcomed due to its tepid temperature and weak brew. We ate approximately 1/4 of our meals. The server took away our full plates without notice or mention of the fact we didn't eat, Dropped the check, and allowed us to pay $28 for this awful, un-eaten meal. read more

We stopped by to see this once noted location's fame with hopes of experiencing a renewed and memorable meal. We entered with our party of 4 family to a bubbly server greeting us and seating us quickly amidst 3 other active tables totaling 4 other patrons. It was about 9:00am and we were looking forward to a filling breakfast. Sadly, after being seated, our hopes ended. First off, the restaurant looked as if they simply added paint to the exterior with a new sign with little to be said about the interior. Booths and decor looked as if they were never changed and motif had no bearing to the name. This is just another diner. Our server took a long time getting any drinks to the table. 1 coffee, 1 hot chocolate, and 2 waters, another long wait to place our order. Coffee was Luke warm and not worth the wait. The food was finally delivered after a 40 minutes wait, and was less than impressive. Toast obviously waited a long time as it was crunchy from sitting for the meal to be completed. Server never checked back on us throughout our meal, (remember only 4 other patrons there, with 2 servers). I never received a refill on my coffee, and watched the two ladies across from us complain about the same issue, while the elderly woman sitting diagonally from us finally complained to the server about the temperature of her coffee as well as the fact that were coffee grounds in the bottom of her cup. We ate what we could and walked up to the front to pay as we didn't want to wait any longer for the tab. The other server rang us up, while our server laughed while visiting with someone that we assumed to be the owner, or maybe a manager? We can honestly say that we would not consider revisiting this establishment. Better to wait out the 14 minute drive to Florence. The name is cute, and will likely pull folks in for the sake of the original establishment's history, but that's where its success will end. Sadly, the location if not corrected will become another loss as was the same outcome for all of its attempted predecessors. Service industries must be designed to serve. We are the reason that you exist or fail. 4 active tables with 2 servers should have been an easy "A", but the result was an absolute fail. read more

We were excited when this restaurant opened and really wanted to try the gingerbread. We stopped on a Monday to have lunch, which was really good! We tried the gingerbread, which was even better than the original gingerbread village recipe. Menu prices were very reasonable. We decided to go to Florence the next day, which was Tuesday and we wanted to try the clam chowder because they were out of it on Monday. The chowder was very good and reasonably priced at $5.00/bowl. I was a little disappointed in length of time we had to wait to order. It was about 1:00pm or so and it really wasn't very busy. I really hope that next time the wait won't be near as long. read more

Very good food and great service. I have stopped several times on my way home from fishing on the coast. My 2 favorite meals r bacon cheeseburger and turkey dinner special. French fries r excellent and plenty of them and all meals r affordable. Carol and Cindi r very nice and I enjoy talking with them when I stop by. I tell my friends about the good food and good customer service so they know of a good place to eat on way to coast. Stopped in to see what the new management had done since the last time we were here (many many years ago). It has gone through several iterations since then and all the changes I saw were definitely for the better. I ordered the Anchor, which was basically stuffed hash browns with your choice of either ham or sausage, topped with country gravy and 2 eggs. Delicious but bring a BIG appetite! The wife ordered the stuffed french toast and thought it was excellent, but again starve yourself for a day or so or plan on getting a doggy box. :). The coffee was perfect and the service were very friendly and attentive. We're already planning to back and try some of their lunch items based on how good the breakfast selections were. On the way out, grab some of their blueberry scones for the road, you won't regret it. A definite must stop if you are in the area. read more

Solid 3.5 stars. Some of the negative reviews are redic. This place serves large portions (I had the Yachats omelette with tons of fresh veggies and Swiss) of decent food. I hate to write such a review but people should be informed.. arrived at 5pm. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. What we ordered- open faced hot turkey sandwich. Unfortunately the turkey was thin sliced deli turkey.. and not even a good brand. Like the kind you get in a plastic container at the store. Husband took a couple bites and that was that.. I had chicken fried steak with country gravy which I thought was your standard pepper gravy. It was, I think, a ham gravy. It was horrible. I tried to take it all off to get to the meat. Took a few bites, trying to figure out what the flavor then realized they must have deep fried the chicken fried steak in the same fryer as my daughters French toast. It was overpowered with cinnamon. So, I ate the focaccia bread and nothing else. My daughter ordered cream cheese stuffed French toast topped with blueberries. One would think typical French toast.. nope Each piece was about 2 inches tall and deep fried. Kind of ruined the meal. And I was sick all night. read more

Great stopping place either prior to going to the coast or coming home. You are not rushed, play scrabble, look at old family pictures, just a down home feeling. The food is really good and best of all will not break the bank. One suggestion, especially for the Seniors, ask the serving size, you might want to order one and split ( example the BLT is really good but such a large portion one would split it. This place is really good for children. The must is having the Gingerbread, no matter if it after breakfast, this is a must. So don't drive by and wonder what this place is like, drop in, you will not regret it all. read more
