I've been here a few times and have always had a good experience. The ice cream is fantastic and the workers are really friendly. There's usually not too long of a line even on weekends, and you can get your ice cream and walk down the street and window shop. There isn't any seating inside, but you can go out on the front porch and sit there to eat. It can be sticky from people spilling ice cream so I usually just take it and go for a walk instead. They don't have any bathrooms here, but there is a public bathroom down the street that is pretty clean. I've gotten the salted caramel ice cream a few times and it's always a hit for me. I got a a junior scoop of the bing cherry. I give the ice cream flavor an A+, it was delicious. I'm dinging the place for other reasons such as: ice blocks in my ice cream, extremely small portion for the price, they didn't ask if I wanted a cup or regular cone (they just came me a cup :(), and place needs a lot of upkeep. The service is rushed and waiters feel stressed and unpleasant. Shame as the ice cream is good. Suggestion to the owner - the clientele would be better served by having 1. A list of flavors (vs having to scramble in between others guests to read the flavors one by one) that everybody can see while waiting on line 2. The two ice cream counters should be side by side 3. You could have a physical line to help people figure out the flow vs having the wait staff scream at customers. You must visit B J's. I'm not a big taffy person, but even I was amazed by the huge variety of taffy that they have. It had to be at least 100 different flavors. As for the ice cream. They have some classic flavors, like vanilla and rocky road, but also some unique local tastes like Oregon Cherry and my choice, the Oregon Trail (which had swirled Marionberry). You could notice easily that the ice cream was hand-made. It was not any ol ice cream place, it was crafted for my desire. Think of a nice place with welcoming staff and unlimited pleasures of sweets. My taste buds are blown out of this world! Like how Jessie, James and Meowth (Team Rocket) are blown away. Excellent! We stopped here twice on our family vacation this year and had great customer service and yummy ice cream both times. I had chocolate peanut butter cup the first time and chocolate cheesecake the second time, both in sugar cones. They give you a very generous single serving, with 2 good sized scoops. There may be no place better than to have a relaxing ice cream than BJ's in Old Town Florence. It's great after some chowder from Mo's and it's right across the street! Inside it has an old soda fountain type feel, which fits in well with the ambiance that Old Town Florence exudes. They sell all types of ice cream, floats, malts, even salt water taffy. They have benches along their deck to lazily eat your dripping ice cream if it's a hot day outside also. They do have another location someplace else, but I feel that this is the best place to get a feel for Florence (my favorite town on the Oregon coast). The ice cream is pretty good too! read more

BJ's Ice Cream Parlor has been a stop on the coast since I was a kid. Now I take my son there. Sometimes we have service from very friendly and attentive people, and sometimes its teenagers who are more worried about socializing than serving ice cream and cutting fudge. Today we went and they were busy, probably given the warm(er) whether at the coast than inland and the woman working was alone but in a good mood, quick, and helpful. Three and a half stars, but I'll round up :). The service here is friendly and they never hesitate to get you the samples you might want. Portions are great for the price! I like how they have tons of flavors but the taste needs some working on. For example, the salted caramel has way too much caramel. I noticed that a lot of their ice creams with extra additions end up tasting overly sweet, like I'm going to develop diabetes eating it, lol. I'll be back if I'm in the area though! Also love how they have ice cream cakes! Id pick those over Baskin Robbins or Coldstone any day! read more
