I called about an hour before and they were able to fit me in I requested Jen to do my toes and I didn't have a request for fingers and they were able to make it work so I can have Jen do my toes even with how busy they were. I came in and I got a temperature check I filled out a little bit of paperwork for COVID-19 in the whole entire time somebody was cleaning after each patron. I'll def be back. I've been going to a river north nail salon for years and decided to give this a try over the weekend. The prices were great and the service was phenomenal. They have an entire wall full of color options (way more than my old salon) and the lady that did my pedi scrubbed my feet until they were perfectly smooth. The one that did my manicure had perfect attention to detail and when she was done, she gave me a free repairs voucher so basically if my nails need repairs I can come back and get them fixed at no cost. Perfect service, quality and experience. I wish I'd come to this salon sooner, 10/10 recommend!!! read more

I try to be as positive as I can about my experiences when writing reviews here on Yelp. Unfortunately, I am writing this negative one today because of my recent experience with Old Town Nails. This nail salon has been my go-to here in Chicago for a while now. I've never had a bad experience with them until yesterday. First, a little background... While getting a pedicure, another tech came to start on my manicure. I work at a bar part-time so my nails are always breaking and end up being cut shorter than I would like, however I've done a really great job at keeping them long recently. I was upset to see that when this tech was filing one hand, she filed them square (my nails are round so I'm not sure why she would do that in the first place); because of this, they became pretty short in an attempt to correct the squareness. I myself fixed them and then just filed the other hand. It is a known thing that 99% of the time their regular customer isn't going to speak or understand their language, so they can say whatever and it won't even matter. This particular visit, after I fixed my nails, the nail tech got up and started talking to some other techs; literally all of them looked at me. I know someone is talking about me when the room becomes silent and all eyes are on me. Do I know what was said? No, I don't. But I immediately felt uncomfortable. I didn't even end up getting a manicure because my friend and I felt very weird. This is a really weird review for me to write, but I felt compelled to share this since I'm in the service industry and I know what bad customer service is. I go to the nail salon on my day off so that I can relax and be pampered - and to feel a little prettier by doing my nails - not to be talked about and be blatantly disrespected just because I don't speak the language. I can't decide whether or not I'd go back to this place, as it is the place I have always gone to here in Chicago, but I definitely felt pretty uncomfortable yesterday and I do not want to feel that way when I'm spending a decent amount of money as a treat to myself. read more

Phenomenal is all I have to say. I've been going to Old Town Nails for about 2 years now and this salon delivers exactly everything I need. This place is the best nail salon I've been to in Chicago. Chau the owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. She is so generous and sweet to her clients and employees like no other; she truly cares. Dina is my girl!!! The first nail technician to have me try colors that I normally would never. Not to mention, she's the person who introduced me to Dip manicures! I trust Dina and her craft. She's SO consistent, has a freakishly good memory and really listens to her clients needs. The lady who helped me with my pedicure didn't even ask If it should be trimmed or cut and cut my nails way too short and spoke in her language the whole time to the person next to her. And then the manicure lady I asked for square round and she gave me almond shaped nails instead. They charge 3 dollars for every time you use a credit card and they don't include a scrub and hot towel dor all pedicures like every other millionth salon does. Never going back there again. FINALLY, I think I've found my new nail salon! I'll be the first to admit that I'm picky when it comes to my nails. I'm very Type A, and less than perfect nails drive me nuts. But Ellen at Old Town Nails had a level of attention to detail that seems to rival even my own. And when she pulled out the paintbrush with acetone for even the base coat, I knew I was in good hands. The lines on my manicure were clean, my cuticles were spotless, and there were zero imperfections in the polish. Even more impressive? I hardly even felt the cuticle or nail clippers, despite the rough, rough shape my nails came in (read: broken and crazy dry). The interior is clean, and prices are cheaper than I've even found in the suburbs (with a new discount for paying in cash). And I have a feeling that in just one visit, Old Town Nails has earned themselves a new regular customer. read more

I've been going to Old Town Nails for over a year for my dip manicures. They always do a great job, I've never had any issues with my nails chipping even when I've had the same coat on for over 4 weeks, and they have a huge variety of dip shades to choose from. The polishes they use are high quality and they all do a great job applying and smoothing out the polish so it isn't too thick. I got my most recent manicure done by Chau and she did an amazing job- she had great recommendations for shades, nail shape, and maintenance to keep my nails healthy between manicures. She is friendly and went above and beyond for my drop in experience! I would recommend making an appointment in the mornings or around lunch time on week days, as it can get busy during after work hours and on weekends. They are usually pretty efficient with fitting in appointments and drop-ins during high volume hours, but if you are in a time crunch I would recommend scheduling an appointment during their lighter hours. read more

Came here out of convenience today and somehow was in and out with a no-chip mani within 15 mins. How did that happen you ask? Well, I was in no rush and they weren't very busy on a Tuesday at 10:30 AM but seemed like my technician was on a race to finish. It was frustrating because I have horrible cuticles and had already picked off my last no chip polish so my nails were rough. Therefore I told her, before she even started that I think I want to give a break to my nails and get a regular mani. Then, before she started the polish I noticed she still had to clean off cuticles and asked her to do so. Well, she said she'd clean them off after. After my polish?? She quickly polished through and kept sticking my hands under the machine and would get frustrated if the light didn't turn on right away. In the end she just put lotion and said here you go....I told her my cuticles can still be cut but since you don't want to do it that's fine I will go elsewhere..$35 for this. I moved to the city about a year ago and a year later I haven't gone to a different salon in the city! I've only left the salon loving my nails while having a very enjoyable experience from the moment I walk in to the moment I leave. Aside from the salon itself being such a clean and friendly place to go, the owner Chau goes above and beyond for clients, like myself. I have very rounded/elevated shaped nails which look extremely thick with the dip and I personally didn't like the gel as much, so just yesterday she tried a "dip-gel" that uses both the dip and gel manicure to create the perfect end product that I am SO in love with. I can say I've been to many nail salons before, but none have gone to these lengths to ensure I'm happy with my nails.
