This auto service is the best place in the area. They had my car completed the same day compared to other competitors whom had no appts until 2 weeks in the future. The price was right. The staff was excellent. My vehicle had to be towed for miles, but to my surprise they took my car in immediately to be repaired. I'm pretty new to the area & I feel blessed that I found a dependable and trustworthy auto repair shop to give my business to. I won't consider taking my vehicle anywhere else. I've never written a Yelp review in my entire life. I don't actually like this app that much but I've gone to the dark side. I downloaded this app just to write this one review over this one business. I'll shorten it up so I don't waste your time. I very specifically asked Old Town Auto repair yesterday when would be a good time for an oil change, they said tomorrow at 8:30. I was very adamant on not wanting to get anything checked, because I had already done that myself with my brother. I just needed the oil change and didn't have the time to do it myself. I dropped it off at 8:30 and they said it would be done 'later on that morning' whatever that means. I got a call around 11:30 saying I need a new carbon filter and some other stuff, and that they were going to charge me $432 for everything. I told them very politely that I just wanted an oil change and was wondering when it would get done thinking it would be maybe an hour. They said they were going to start the oil change, and call me when they're done. So I dropped it off at 8:30 for no reason? They ended up charging me $150, despite the fact that I asked them not to do any break checks. I know my brakes are good you know? So, instead of going to loop Central in mckinleyville, I listen to my girlfriend and went to a place near me and got fucked in the ass. You really think I plan on spending $150 for an oil change this morning? I got my vehicle back close to 5 hours later. Go there if you want but you're going to physically feel them putting the lube on your a****** when you pay way more than you're supposed to. read more

I was quoted at $50 to replace the battery on my vehicle. The same mechanic seemed to be the only one available to work on my car and twice has provided an unsatisfactory experience. He called me mid morning stating that he needed to "pair the vehicle's electrical system with the battery, this is standard for these new cars, which will take more time." Therefore, charging me $145 to replace a battery that was ALREADY provided to him. I did not buy the battery from the shop. I watched a 10 min video on the replacement of my car battery with an explanation of the task, his statement is untrue and a straight scam. It did not take him an hour to replace a battery and I was over charged for a simple task. When he knew I was upset about the cost he didn't offer any option of specials or discounts that were found online. This guy provided poor customer service. NEVER going to this shop again, my apologies to the owners but this is my perspective of your shop now. read more

Okay, so first off let's start with what I came in for. I came in for a standard 67,500 mile service on my 2008 VW EOS 2.0T. The price came out to be about $133 which is a bit rich for my blood but the car needed servicing and I wasn't gonna argue with that... It took them about a half hour after my appointment time before they got my car up in the garage and finished it in about an hour and a half. When I got the car back they said the only issues they had was that they didn't have the necessary tools to turn off my service light on my car haha! Charged me about $96 in parts and $29 in labor plus tax. read more

Grateful, is how I feel after dealing with this and their sister shop at 3rd and U. My RV broke down while traveling through Eureka with my 86yo mom, my daughter and granddaughter. Didn't know what to do, they were so helpful, willing to do whatever to make us comfortable. They gave us a loaner car while we had to wait which ended up being overnight. They had us up an back on the road running great, the next afternoon. Thank you to the owner and the service manager. We appreciate everything you did. read more

Walker was super helpful in talking through all of the aspects of my car maintenance with me -- letting me know both what was going great with it and also suggestions on what work I might want to have done. There was never pressure to spend extra money on things I didn't need. I felt comfortable with the staff and trusted their work. The team was thorough in their inspection, and provided all of the paperwork and a checklist for me to easily see what was done and looked at. When I did decide to have some extra work done on my vehicle, they also took the time to talk through the cost breakdown with me so I knew exactly what went into the final price. I brought my truck in here for an oil change and when I called to see if it was ready I was told to come on down, it was good to go. I arrived and was asked if I had been having any trouble starting it recently, to which I replied no, not at all. They told me it took them 15 minutes to get it started and were afraid to turn it off in case they couldn't start it again. They suggested it could be the starter. They then sent me off with my vehicle broken which when I brought it in had been working fine. No apology, no offer to fix it or even look into the problem further. I was actually surprised they didn't offer a quote to fix the problem. They just didn't look into it and gave it back to me. I returned home and turned it off and have not been able to start it again since. I wouldn't trust this shop for any work now, even for an oil change! I understand unexpected things can happen when working on on a older vehicle but the worst part was their lack of offer to follow through and even look into the problem. Just returned it in worse functioning than when it came in. Good luck to you if you give this shop a try. read more

I've been to this shop twice for repairs to a 2013 Honda Fit Sport. I picked this shop because they are AAA approved. First time was a repair to a passenger side mirror and the second time was two driver side tires were damaged. I found everyone helpful and clear about what needed to be done and cost. From the moment I called Old Town Brake and Auto I felt comfortable and pleased. First of all, a knowledgeable and helpful receptionist answers the phone. (Not some gum-chewing mechanic in the back of a loud garage... ) She was very helpful and easy to understand. They were very honest with me and I never felt misinformed or taken advantage of, as I have with other mechanics in the past. As a young woman not particularly knowledgeable about cars, in the past I have felt like I need my dad to call them to make sure no one's getting the best of me. With Old Town Brake and Auto, I felt like Wally was my dad. He took the time out to explain everything going on with my car. He helped me assess the damage and helped me reach a well-informed decision about what to do. These guys are awesome. They have the best customer service I've ever had at an auto repair shop. When my car had an axle problem, but I had a transportation problem, they squeezed me in and got it fixed with brand new parts (not refurbished) right away. They said it would take 3 hours, but it was ready to go in 21/2. Plus, they gave me a little shop car to drive around town in so I could get my errands done. They were friendly, helpful, honest and outgoing. What a wonderful surprise in this day and age! If you are deciding where to take your car, go here, you won't be sorry. read more

Anytime I need work on my car I will come here. The service was excellent! I thought my clutch was burnt out and needed a new one, come to find out it was just a clip that had worn out. I really appreciated their urgency and efficiency to get my car fixed. Like the previous review, I am a young female and at times mechanics will take advantage of that but not here. Ray (one of the mechanics, owner?) was very patient and was "dad" like in explaining what had happened to my car. I have some knowledge of cars but not enough at times. This place is great! I've been a customer since the 70's, this shop has saved me a good deal of $ over the years. I started with Wally and Steve his son has kept the standards his Dad had. They haven't done work that wasn't needed even though I asked them to.(thought I needed my brakes done & they didn't need any work) The work I did have done was done on time my truck and was returned cleaner than I gave to them. They have a shuttle service and some loaner cars too. These are the only people I will let work on my truck. I send my friends and family without thinking twice. All the workers have 2 goals. Top quality work and a top notch customer experience. They have had some of the same mechanics for close to 20 years which says a lot for the business. read more

I wanted to like this place. They are AAA approved. They maintain beautiful curb appeal, and their staff is friendly. However, not only was there a scratch put through the tint on my window that they assured me they didn't do, they didn't complete the job. They wanted to charge me more than the estimate to finish when I returned to explain what portion was not completed . Clearly there was a breakdown in communication because the particular part was not even ordered. I will have to find someone else. I don't see myself using them again. read more

The Owner of Old Town Brake and Auto was extremely rude and unprofessional toward customers....I recieved the worst costumer service from the owner of this business today. I had previously brought my vehicle in for a check up last week, but they were unable to preform the diagnostics(computer scan of vehicle) due to my faulty battery. When I spoke with the mechanic working on it, he informed me that he would be unable to do a full inspection of my car until my battery was replaced. I walked out that day paying 146$, 50$ for a replaced head light(bulb cost 15$!!) and 89$'for a mechanic to drive my car for 20 minutes, and trouble shoot for another 20 before deciding that until the battery was replaced they couldn't help me. Machanics at Old Town Auto make 22$ An hr. So I basicly payed someone for an hr and a half to replace the headlight, which I have replaced before in 15minutes. I went and replaced my own battery at O'Reillys(145$, and they put it in for free) Old Town wanted 200$ for the same job. When I made an apt to ACTUALLY have the diagnostics done, I spoke with the owner. He was very rude and made me feel uncomfortable about leaving my car there again. After many minutes of me trying to explain that I confused about being charged so much for a job that was not even preformed, he spoke to me in a very demeaning tone, and was almost laughing at my concerns. I can't afford to pay that kind of money to be treated So unprofessionally. Not to mention my 8 yr old was with me and was witness to this poor treatment. I will never bring my business there again. read more
