These guys are so good. My electrical issue took a good amount of testing and hunting and they accommodated that. I will not use Pro Pacific again! I spent $500 extra on getting parts here on time for a scheduled appointment. They were supposed to be at my shop at 8:30 am as my motorhome won't run. I called at 9:00 am and they said they would be there shortly. I waited all day...no show. Finally at 5:00 they called and said they wouldn't be there today...no shit. And they finally admitted that they didn't come because they couldn't really reprogram my ecm. Stay clear of this business! read more

Unless you know the people here personally..PLEASE..keep your money and your vehicle far away from this place. I have yet to find an honest mechanic in this town. When I do I'll definitely be giving them much deserved praise. Where do I even begin? I brought my car in for an oil change and a general overview. I was charged $300 for service. I was told it needed $1100 more in repairs from what they diagnosed for parts and service. When the work was done I picked up the vehicle and took it home. Three days later it won't start (new issue). The car was driven a total of 3 miles from the time it left the shop to the three days after, when it wouldn't start. I bring the car back to Pro Pacific. I was skeptical about the whole ordeal but I thought I was just being paranoid. The vehicle; at this point had still only been driven a grand total of 3 miles from the first visit when it all of a sudden happened to stop working till now. They're tearing through the car trying to diagnose the issue. I requested the starter to be replaced. They have to dismantle the front end of the car to do so. They have all the parts from the first visit and a few other parts for service I personally wanted addressed. The headlights, which I had provided them. Any logical mechanic who is fully aware that the headlights were out would've replaced the bulbs at this time, or at the very least asked about it during the process of replacing the starter, two birds, one stone, right. Wrong! They inform me about the fuel injector. One of them is faulty and needs to be replaced. I have them take care of that. We exchanged a few phone calls. They tell me they'd call on this day or that day saying I'd hear from them on specific days. Only to have me continually waiting to hear back from them. I get a call from the intake specialist saying the car starts and runs but now ALL of a sudden after they've torn through the front end of the vehicle it's idling rough. They've now had my vehicle for over 3 months. With not one mention of an idling issue prior. Something that I nor the two other individuals who had driven the car prior to it entering Pro Pacific's garage had experienced. I ask, "so I can come pick it up". I'm told yes, they'll give me a call back in an hour. One week later they call and leave a message saying the car is ready. The following day I go pick it up. $1800 later for a total of $2100+ in the two visits. Not including the $1100 I was quoted on the initial service. And after all was said and done the recommendations for repair remained the same on each receipt. Take the car home. Park it in the garage. 4 days later....it's dead again. Battery drained. So I pop the trunk, where my battery is located and what do I find ...They took the bolts off my fused box located in the trunk and didn't put them back on.....it's just hanging freely over the battery. Tore through the engine and haphazardly pieced the front end back together. Left the engine cover off and other miscellaneous parts in the trunk. I call to speak to Ford. He was unavailable at the time. Leave a message for him to call back. Wait 24 hours no call back. I call the following morning, Ford answers. We have a lengthy discussion about the issues. I ask for some sort of reimbursement and he begins telling me about all their business expenses (salaries and insurances) like they somehow involve me. I hired this business to perform a service for me. I paid for this service and it was not completed. He pretty much tells me that the car is in this condition now because I asked them to replace the starter. Don't know how that could possibly make sense but I got tired of wasting my breath and politely ended the call. To some they're a decent shop, to others they're a nightmare. Tread lightly. read more

Go elsewhere. They're expensive and quality of work is average, at best. They'll try to lure you into getting unnecessary work done. They'll break or damage parts and won't tell you. Grill and headlight brackets broken after my visits there. Busted up side step as well. But they mentioned NONE of it when they were done. Went there BY APPOINTMENT, for simple oil change. And it took them, from the hour they opened until the very last hour they were closing to complete the job. Does it really take from 8am til 4pm to change the oil? And if it's not important enough to service my vehicle when i bring it in BY APPOINTMENT, then why have me scheduled to bring it in that early. Makes no sense to schedule me that early just to let my vehicle sit untouched all day because it's just an oil change. Fortunately, I didn't need my vehicle that same day. Be advised, unless you know someone that works there personally, look elsewhere. You'll find better cheaper places for same kind of work. read more

We were in Eureka doing some work, when we experienced some significant issues with our Chevy Suburban. In great need of our vehicle for work, we pulled into the local Chevrolet dealership. Due to it being late in the evening, they told us they could not help us, but very politely and with confidence referred us to Pro Pacific Auto Repair. That says a lot and puts great integrity into the review I am leaving about Pro Pacific Auto Repair. Upon arriving at Pro Pacific Auto Repair in Eureka, CA, we were greeted by a very nice service advisor who was very understanding to our situation, with it being 4:30pm and with the issue we were facing. Another gentlemen said he would put a code reader on the car and let us know what the problem with the vehicle was. He immediately advised us of the problem, which was an issue with the fuel system. This gentlemen, Mike Bates, who turned out to be the owner of Pro Pacific, could not have more comforting, friendly, professional and most importantly determined to get us back on the road. He and his staff immediately jumped on the problem, they stayed overtime, and within one hour had us back on the road. The best part of this experience was the honesty and integrity in diagnosing the problem, and the integrity in the cost of fixing the issue. I say this with great conviction, "that you all in Eureka are very lucky to have a great company like Pro Pacific Auto Repair." WOW!!!! After my wife's 80th birthday we had booked a site at Shoreline RV park. When we pulled in our Road trek camper van engine light came on, I called a dodge dealership in town of Eureka and Sales manger and the service manager BOTH RECOMMENDED PRO PACIFIC AUTO REPAIR AS THE DEALERSHIP WAS TOO BUSY! I called and a delightful voice answered the phone at 7:30 am her name TARA!!!!! She had me take a picture of the problem area in the engine compartment and she ordered the parts in and scheduled us for 1pm for the repair. JEFF came out back in the alley as we were pulling a trailer he smiled and was done fixing our van in 1 hour!!!!! OMG WHAT SERVICE!!!!!! A pulley on our serpentine belt was the problem as it froze up and ruined the belt, he cleaned debris of all the other pulleys with a wire brush, installed new pulley and belt!!! The cost was very reasonable for the problem solved and TARA the goddess invited us into the office with our dog and we had coffee and read Wine Spectator magazine and talked with TARA while we waited!! In 2009 I purchased a new Nissan Frontier. After the first FREE dealer service, I switched to Pro Pacific because they had installed a camper shell and kayak racks on a previous vehicle. They did the same for my new one and I had them service it too. Because of their quick, and efficient service, I have taken my vehicles here for repairs and service since then. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. Their rates are competitive and I have never felt overcharged. Tire rotation and an interior and exterior wash are included. I have also recommended this shop to others who have had good service from them. This shop is a great alternative to dealer shops. Most of the customers I have chatted with in the waiting room are long term customers that have come here for years. To me, that's the best recommendation any business can get. read more

Great they offer pick up and shuttling when your car is in service but I lost taste for this shop when my first experience had the shuttle driver upon pick up drive way out of the way through old arcata road to get to oldtown instead of driving me from bayside via the highway to get back to the shop. he seemed happy with his little joy ride and my company way too much as he wasted 20 minutes of my time driving the country roads! I was infuriated and told the guy at the desk. completely sleezy and uncomfortable. will not be back. read more

I brought my 91 Isuzu pickup here that has a total value of about $2,000. I asked for a simple diagnosis and told the manager that I'd decide what I wanted to do from that point forward knowing it's not worth throwing a bunch of money at. After it was diagnosed I went in and he read off a long list of things that was wrong with my truck and the prices that were well over the value of the truck itself- which is fine. It's an old truck and there is a lot of potential work. What I didn't like was the resistance and attitude I got when I told him that I just wanted to do the o2 sensor replacement and hold off on the rest until I had the finances and some time to prioritize the long list of repairs. I felt pressured to get all the work done when all I asked for was a diagnosis and some tweaking to make it run smooth. I think it would be helpful next time if the mechanics met the customer where they are at with finances and the age/ future of their vehicle. My truck is no Mustang and my tax bracket is one of the lower one's so I can't throw $3,000 down on a little A to B blue collar work truck. Instead of rattling off a long list of all the possible repairs it would have been helpful and less shady to say, "hey, if you just do A, B, C, that'll probably get you on your feet and going for the next few years." What they do have going for them is speedy turn around time and good customer service... but be careful of smooth talking and buttering up in exchange for high rates. Not recommended for young hard workers who have to watch their budgets. read more

What a horrible experience. This may be a popular spot to take your vehicle, but I don't recommend it. Number one issue, they don't stand behind their work. I had to take my truck to another shop to get it fixed after spending over $4,000 at this shop. They gave me poor advice on how to fix my issues, and kept recommending I spend more and more money. After they refused to do any more work without charging me more money, I took my truck to my trusted mechanic in Oregon who fixed the problem with one hour's labor and documented that Pro Pacific screwed up. Pro Pacific denied it, even though my truck runs great now and refused to cover the fix from the other shop. They over charge for parts, are poor communicators, take forever to try to fix things, and are overconfident in their own abilities. read more

0 STARS!!!!(why isn't this an option?) Took a truck in for a shock recharge-a 20 minute job- and it sat there for 3+ hours and still didn't get worked on. Huge shout out to Mike Ford, whether you are the owner or just the manager, you're doing a fantastic job of making sure people will NEVER return to you! Congrats! Mike was incredibly rude and disrespectful. We were quoted about $200-keep in mind their rate is $140+/hr- for what should have been a 20 minute job. We went in there at around hour 3, and saw that the truck was moved to the public lot across the way and was not worked on. We asked him how much longer it was going to be, we politely told him that we needed to be leaving town soon-we do not live there- and he got angry and began yelling at us calling us disrespectful little punks, telling us we could take our (nonexistent) attitude elsewhere...so we did exactly that(Humboldt Motorsports). He also proceeded to talk bad about the shop we told him we were taking it to-which only took 20minutes and charged $20. As the owner of the truck walked across the street, Mike Ford walked out to his mechanics still yelling and throwing a fit talking trash again calling him names. As I hit the gas(mind you I'm in a diesel) to get across the lot he proceeded to yell at me to slow down-apparently 5mph is too fast- and called me a b*tch...real mature. We will NEVER be taking any of our fleet of 6 trucks anywhere near him or that shop ever again and neither will anyone we know. Having read other reviews, they have wrecked vehicles and assaulted customers, I say 0 stars and stay very far away! read more

I am ABSOLUTELY rating pro pacific auto 5 of 5 stars. There are a few reasons behind this- I brought my 2003 Ford Escape to them so they could fix it up so it could pass a smog inspection. I had a pretty fixed budget but they were more than willing to work with me. Upon finding underlying issues that unfortunately would cost much more than I had, they pointed me in the direction to dealerships I could go to who could help me with a reliable vehicle, AND agreed to do a free pre-buy inspection for me on a future vehicle since they were unable to fix my current. I want to point out that this is not standard procedure for literally anywhere I've went to have any of my cars serviced. Then, I found a car I was really in love with from a dealership that wasn't the best to go through, but I knew I could probably get a car that day with them. So, I brought the car in, the did an inspection (for free), and found that I should absolutely not buy that car despite how much I wanted to. It was a lemon. I was clearly upset and let down - I'm a female in my early 20s, I know close to nothing about cars, and I felt like anywhere I went to purchase a car, they would try to pull the wool over my eyes. And they did try. But Ford, and the folks at Pro Pacific Auto Repair, weren't about to let that happen. Ford, the manager, called a nearby dealership he trusted and told them my situation. He then followed me back to the dealership so I could drop off the lemon car, and literally gave me ride to the other dealership to get me set up with them! Amazing. Not only that, but he said if I didn't end up finding something that day, that they at pro pacific would make sure I made it safely back home... an hour and a half away. I did up finding a vehicle through the dealership he brought me to (Fraga's Sweetheart Motors in Eureka - who I also recommend) so I didn't need the ride home, as generous as that was to offer. I want to give a special thanks to Tara, Jessica, and Ford for going ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me find a safe and reliable vehicle to call my own! Also, thank you for the the laughs and entertainment I experienced in your lobby, the sweetness you all carried in your hearts, and the encouragement I received throughout. They crashed my vehicle and didn't tell me. Over charge for simple jobs. They changed me 30 plus percent over book time, plus fee for checking on the repairs. Parts are marked up over 50 percent from parts store. They suggested I change all my fluids at 30,000 miles. When I asked about manufacturer suggested maintenance. They advised me they don't suggest following the manufacturer maintenance schedule. They want you vehicle not to last long so you buy another vehicle. Please do yourself favor and tow your vehicle to different shop. read more

I love Pro Pacific for two reason. First, they can work on my mobility van, which saves me a few trips to Chico. And second, they actually take me home so I don't have to wait at their shop for the work to be done ( use a wheelchair and if I go to the dealer, I have to spend all day there waiting for my van). They tell me what has to be done, and they charge what seems to be a fair price. I can call and get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time (it seems if I call the dealer I have to wait at least two or three weeks). They are always friendly and I feel like they are looking out for my safety. read more

I was on a road trip from Sonoma county up to Portland when I noticed a my 2009 Tacoma was making a strange noise. I pulled into a shop on the north side of Laytonville where they figured out a ball bearing was going out on my front driver side. He did not have time to fix it so he sent me up to his cousin Mike, at Pro Pacific. I arrived at 3 on Friday, they had me out of there and back on the road by 5:20. Replaced the roaters and washed the windows too! They were fast, friendly and kept me entrained with stories about the adventures of their youth. Wasn't cheap, but I felt their work was quality, and I appreciated their readiness to do a big job late on Friday and to get this traveler back on the road! read more

Ok, so I must be the first to review? Ok, lots of people I know take their cars here. We did once before today,like 4 years ago and my hubby was a bit ticked cause they put in a radiator, it did need one, but my hubby wanted a SPECIFIC one and wanted to be notified and wasnt. So we got stuck with the radiator that works ok, but not the one we wanted. We have a classic car, so, we look hard for the best stuff, we buy the stuff, you put it in, OK? OK, so today's experience, we took in the same car for an inspection (they do it for FREE!) and a minor tune up. OK, not bad. They really advise you well and aren't there to make a buck. Hugo and Ford were great. BUT, they told my hubby one thing and me another and my hubby, well, let them know. They corrected the issue pronto. BUT be advised, I am a smart woman, like MOST women I know, I know cars. I know this car, very well. Don't say you broke a spark plug when you told hubby spark plugs were just worn out. OH and do not put the broken spark plug back in the car. Yes, we wanted to do our own spark plugs, since they were WORN OUT, not broken. But if you break it, you fix it, ok? Great. No labor charged,(they wanted big bucks for labor on that. UHHH, no.) new spark plug put in. We will do the rest, later. 3 stars cause they really really inspected my car and I knew it had a leak and they told me how much it would be to fix it and that I could wait a little bit. I dropped off my vehicle on a Thursday knowing they probably would not be able to work on it until the following Thursday. On the following Friday, they had not done the first repair. They had ran codes to the tune of over $400. On that Friday I spoke at great length with Jeff. He would not commit to starting work on the next Monday and remained non-committal about any date. I was talked down to and splaned about how busy they are- aka- we are important- you are not. If you're not a local- don't go there. Wow. What an incredibly awful experience. Fist of all the personal treatment my fiancée and I received was the worst I can possibly imagine. We were belittled for the way look and made fun of for being "from Portland". Second of all we got charged $700 to do a $300 job because the service manager knew we were on the road and could take advantage of us. Finally the part that these phonies replaced went bad within 45 minutes leaving me stranded on the side of the highway with a $550 tow bill. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO TO THE NEXT SHOP. I drive a '92 Honda. Most of the time it's completely reliable because I bring it in regularly for oil change and annual checkup. I receive good info from Pro Pacific about what needs attention now and what needs to be done soon. When something goes wrong, (as it does with an older car!) I feel that I can trust I'll get an honest assessment. The estimate will be accurate and they will do their best to get it done asap. Last repair was electrical, yes, hard to diagnose! They wanted to be 100% confidant that the problem was resolved before they'd give it back to me. I really appreciate that! And then the bill was so low that it was just KIND, really kind.
