This is my first negative review ever. These people are terrible. I made an appointment to have my car approved after being totaled and repaired. The state insists that you take it to an approved repair shop and have it pass brake and lights , etc. They told me it would be $350. My windshield needed repair and they failed my car because of it. (FYI, that could have informed immediately it couldn't pass unless the windshield was replaced) After returning to pick up my car. And getting the failed paperwork . They said that they could have my windshield repaired so it would pass. ( They charged me $400 plus tax) I made the appointment to have them fix the windshield. Again I brought my car in and waited. Once the windshield repair guy arrived he immediately declined to fix my windshield because it was too complicated. They then told me they would find another windshield repairman to my car. I waited two days no call. I then went to pacific in Arcata. Had my windshield repaired. Returned to Johnson's and they said it would be another $400. Because they would have to recheck everything. Of course I wasn't going to pay them another $400. I drove a block to Broadway and stopped at Broadway Automotive. They would only charge $250. I just believe in good customer service. I would never suggest anyone ever going to Johnson's auto for anything. read more

Johnson's electric charged me 295 dollars for diagnostic, repair, and retesting. They were unable to diagnose, they did no repairs, and did not retest. They refused to give me a refund or a partial refund. I have never written a negative review and as a whole don't like to write reviews but I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. They said I could come back to do more testing for free but now I see them as incompetent and will definitely not return. The guy at the front desk was super nice and had good customer service. After having several thousand dollars of work done by Johnson's, I picked up my car and drove it home. I heard a clunking sound in the front end. I decided to take it to another shop and they showed me where 3 bolts were missing on the front of the car and it was unsafe to drive! I am seriously concerned about their quality control. read more

Went in first thing in the morning, a few weekends ago for an oil change and to make sure everything under the hood was running well. The wait wasn't long. Staff was fun to chat with and helpful. Very knowledgeable mechanics. I will be back. I understand why their ratings are what they are. Glad to have found a personal mechanic. We took our Jeep in for a rewire in March 2024. They promised the project would be done by summer. I 't completed until September 2024, and on the drive home, several issues were still not fixed and things that weren't broken when we brought it in suddenly were. We took it back and they "fixed" it without further cost, which was kind of them since the bill was $1000 over the original estimate. Fast forward to today when we took the Jeep out for a drive. It broke down and stranded us. It has power, so it's not the battery or alternator. So just sitting here waiting on a tow because the Jeep won't start. What a bunch of hacks! I had some work done on a car that I was purchasing and the previous owner paid for the service. 3 day later I called and complained about the work they had done. They came to my house and took the car back to the shop. When they returned it they said everything was fine and it was under warranty anyway. 1 month later the work they did failed and they refused to fix it under the warranty. I dropped off a truck I was looking into buying and asked them to do a diagnostics of truck, they called me and said the truck needs a plugs wires and cap and that it would cost me 770 with the diagnostics, when I came to pick up the truck they told me the engine was toast and no compression in the cylinders! so I basically paid 770 for nothing cause the engine wouldnt even start, it was devastating they didnt even refund the $ 187 diagnostics which they should have seen engine didn't have compression. obviously they didn't do a diagnostics but still charged me, the mechanics there are a joke he seemed irritated that he had to help push the truck off there lot to get towed, he got out of truck at one point and rudely told me I had to push the truck lol great customer service too read more

I called in at around 3pm on a Friday afternoon to schedule a smog service on an older vehicle I was selling. I asked for their earliest appointment for the following day, so they scheduled me for 8am on a Saturday. They seem to be one of the few shops in the area who will do smog service on Saturdays. Glen was the person who helped me, and he was very kind. I showed up early Saturday morning and he was super personable, made my husband a cup of coffee, and asked us about our truck we were having the smog service on. He mentioned that they are one of the few local shops that can smog the older vehicles (ours was a 1994). He had us out of there within a half hour, and was sure to mention and invite us to an upcoming customer appreciation day. Overall was a great experience! read more

I came here for an oil change, based on Yelp reviews. The windshield washer had stopped working so when I picked the car up I asked whether they're replaced the fluid. Nope, the guy said, because the mechanism was broken. Bad news. I felt like I wished he'd told me that earlier so they could repair it and he didn't like my attitude, as I was leaving he suggested I not come back. No worries there because today I took the car to the dealer for something else and sure enough I was only out of washer fluid after all. read more

These guys did a full inspection and found other things that needed immediate attention. The gentleman on the phone was polite and answered all my annoying questions lol and broke down the pricing for me; he explained what needed immediate attention and what we could hold off on. I picked up my car this morning and couldn't be happier; it feels like my car is running brand new... I love it! So I went here because of the reviews that I read and everyone said that these guys were the best. Well, they were far from the best. I took my car here 3 freakin times and my issues were made worse each time. The 1st time they charged me $90 bucks just to look at the car, next they said that my power steering pump was bad and that a flush could fix the problem and that was cheaper than getting a whole new pump. Me being a broke college student of course i went with the cheaper option, I drove the car for a couple weeks and then it started making noise again but 10-fold. The 3rd time I went to them and they determined that I needed a new power steering pump, so they replaced that and then it started making noises even worse than before and yesterday afternoon my power steering went out completely and the belt came completely off and my pulley is now crooked and now I have to dip into my savings account to get this fixed. I will not be going here ever again. And if you want your car fixed correctly I suggest you do it yourself. read more

I took my car in with an engine light code indicating that the clutch torque converter wasn't working. They did a full inspection, told me the car was fine, and cleared the code. 6 months later my entire transmission is shot because of the torque converter they didn't fix. Now the repairs cost more than my car is worth. Plus, the mechanic left a key for another car in my car and had to come to my house later that day to pick it up. Very unprofessional and actually made the problem way worse. read more

I showed up a little early and they had me out of there in 20-30 minutes! Great customer service, and they even gave me some pointers on smog testing when the car is registered in different areas! I purchased a re-built lawn mower from here for my work and they were absolutely fantastic to deal with! The mower had a great price and runs great and they worked with me to deliver it to where I needed it. I work for a non-profit and once the heard that the delivered it for free and offered to help fix up the mower when it needed it because they wanted to help the kids in the community out. Now that I have found them I will go there for all my electrical needs. Don't go if you're a female or someone who would "appear," to not know about their car. I personally changed my brake fluid and air filter before going in and they looked me in the eyes and told me that both were long overdue for a change (they were replaced less than 1k miles ago). I also got my tires rotated and aligned by them. Not 1 of my 4 tires were rotated, and I could obviously tell because 2 of my tires have visual blemishes that remained in the same spot. Take your car here if you want to waste your money and be made a fool of. This happened a few months ago, but they keep texting me saying I have services due so I was reminded of their foul play. read more
