My car is in the shop. I have to do the one thing that makes me feel like a mortified 16 year-old again: drive my dad's car around. Adding insult to injury, the window on the driver's side spontaneously pops out of its track. I roll the window down, and it makes a funny noise. I roll it back up, and suddenly the window has begun to protrude in a way that would put Jaw's shark fin to shame. I flee to the only body shop that I know, namely because they're in our 'hood and have a very prominent sign. I was not wrong to do so. The receptionist welcomed me in and laughed at the car, which was an understandable reaction. She, too, agreed, that it resembled a shark fin. The mechanic took a look and said "That's not right." It wasn't. He then proceeded to explain to me how window regulators worked, because these things are fascinating and I wanted to know. He was polite, friendly, and not at all condescending-- a problem for many of us women in automotive environments. He offered to take a look at it first thing the next morning, saying that it would take about a half an hour's labor. Their prices are reasonable, given that most people in Humboldt charge over $100/hour, typically. I brought the car back and they ended up spending about 40 minutes to diagnose the issue; apparently one of the regular arms was close to snapping off altogether. For once, I lost my faith slightly in Japanese steel. Since it wasn't my car, I grabbed a quote from them and told them I'd bring it to my father, the "real" owner of the car. When I went to pay for the labor cost for having found the problem, the mechanic told me not to worry about it. He even told me that I could probably buy a cheaper regulator from Napa or O'Reilly if I wanted to try and save a little on the part. I looked hard at him. This was an honest, trustworthy, and compassionate individual. This, my friends, is someone I would recommend to anyone for auto body work. Nice people. Good mechanics. Honest pricing. Okay, so here's what happened to me: The front bumper of my nissan versa became detached because I hit the accelerator on Drive instead of Reverse while parked ...because I'm that dumb. I was mortified when I saw the damage because I thought I had to buy a new bumper. SO then I went to McCrea Nissan/Subaru shop and they said all they could do would be to order a new bumper, OR the guy recommended trying Myrtletown Body Shop to see what they could do as an alternative to ordering a new one. I said what he heck it's worth a try! Sure enough, the man was able to look at it right away and told me it wasn't a big deal (what a relief) he got someone else to look at it and they said it would take about half an hour! I was so happy, but then I wondered about the price--his response was "nothing". I was like, REALLY?! Yes, they fixed that for free and I just thought I should write a review to compensate for the amazing customer service they've got there. They're super friendly, their office is neat and needless to say I will be going back to them in the event that something bigger happens to my car. This totally made my day. If I could give zero stars, I would. It's been over a month since I needed a window and trim piece replaced. First time in, window is replaced, trim wasn't ordered. Window repair was sloppy, extra silicone everywhere. Second time in, the wrong trim piece was ordered. Third time in (after 3 weeks of not getting a call that my part was in) I was told it would take 20 minutes so I went out for an hour and a half. My car had not been touched in that time. At no point was an apology given, and I have not at any point felt like a valued customer. Overall an incredibly disappointing experience. Poor work quality, poor customer service. read more

I had this shop work on my Lexus ls460. Horrid job. My front bumper was damaged along with a few things because of an accident and this shop can't even manage to get the bumper to stay properly. They literally had a clip that attached the top of the grill to the main car and it was completely missing...The whole damn bumper fell off before a year after they serviced it and I had to go through Geico AGAIN to have them properly take care of the damages since this shop doesn't know what they are doing but will claim they can do it, just to make a quick buck and fool you by cleaning you car very nicely. My vehicles headlamps have something called an "AFS system" stand for Adaptive Front Lighting, I had to actually write it out cause these idiots didn't know what that even was. When I mentioned how that was broken on my vehicle due to the accident, they had the audacity to tell me, after claiming they had fixed the problem, " hey you can actually drive with the AFS bottom off so the system lights won't come on..." trying to hide the fact they couldn't fix the problem. They couldn't just be honest and tell me they couldn't do it but instead lied they had it fixed and I had to bring the vehicle into the shop like 2-3 times AFTER it was supposedly finished and they failed to solve the problem. I also waited over a month for them to epically fail and not provide a damn service but to wash my car. To top it off, I got my vehicle back, they adjusted my headlights so wrong that the high beams were aimed at the top of the tree line and the headlights aimed so low you couldn't see a anything standing 10 feet ahead. They couldn't do anything right with my car except cleaning it. This company might as well change its business name to "Myrtletown auto wash" This place is a joke, I know it's hard to find a cheap good auto place in Humboldt county let alone Arcata/Eureka but this place sure isn't the place. These guys are SO HELPFUL. I came in late on a Thursday and had them look at a sad little dent on the back of my vehicle, causing the trunk to not fit into place correctly without being manually locked. They quoted me what it would be to fix the issue and were understanding when I couldn't afford the process of getting a new part right away. They told me to come back the next day and they would realign my trunk panel where it had been hit, for free! I now have a fully functional trunk, once again, thanks to these lovely folks!
