They're incredibly un-professional (probably racist) & horrible customer service. I walked into their lobby, I was the only customer in the office and every employee ignored me for an extremely long period of time. They intentionally told me they deleted all my info (pictures/paperwork I filled out) & refused to work on my car for no apparent reason. When I asked why, they had no answer. The owner & his son are passive-aggressive. ALL PPL who are not Caucasian, go somewhere else, they don't want or deserve your patronage. Just way overpriced. I took my vehicle there and absolutely loved them. I went back for two more estimates and with different vehicles, and both times the estimators treated more like a nuisance then a customer, and the prices were really high. I took both vehicles to another body shop that ended up being cheaper and had a much better attitude. I wasn't shopping for the cheapest, just someone with a good attitude first. read more

I was in a minor accident someone rear ended my car thankfully my insurance said I was not at fault and covered the repair completely and they waived my deductible. I choose Fred's Body Shop because I have heard great things about it and my partner has had her car repaired there after an accident with a deer and an accident with a bear and they did a great job both of those times. Everyone was very professional and pleasant to work with. They did an amazing job. Not only did they fix it so good that you couldn't tell it ever happened but they also completely detailed my car and gave it back cleaner and looking better than when I brought it to them. This means a lot to be because I love my car and used to keep it show room clean and ready for car shows but being busy taking care of my son while my partner works full time and when she gets off work I go to work also working full time I rarely have the time to keep my car as clean as I'd like to. A few days before new year's 2022 this vacationing Sacramentan hit a healthy looking (but loose nerved) doe that ran into the road near Orick. The front of my car, hood, parts of the undercarriage, and passenger side to the door were really messed up. I worried the car might be totaled. Luckily, Fred's deemed it repairable. Parts took a month to arrive, especially a crucial part needed to begin and build on top of (the radiator support). Once all parts were in Fred's took two weeks to do the work. Mike was an excellent contact at the shop and a great guy, providing me with regular updates and taking all my calls or returning quickly. I would have paid a $500 deductible to Geico (who was also very good to me) but the shop found one or more parts after-market and my deductible was lowered to $270! I needed body work done from an accident that happened a few months ago and my insurance recommended Fred's body shop. I had been to another body shop in the area for a different car and was reluctant because I had a good experience with the other body shop. I decided to go to Fred's and I am so glad I did! Their customer service and communication was amazing and my car was fixed in just a few short days (the other body shop quoted me "a couple weeks"). This is by far the best body shop I have gone too. I came in because my girlfriend got into an accident with my car and I decided to take it here without knowing how they are or anything. Little did I know that they would be the best one by far! They took care of everything and even called me for any updates about my car. I am surprised to see any starred reviews as my personal experience with Fred was disgusting. Fred let an uneducated, untrained, and unlicensed mechanic use his shop under the premise that my car was being painted at Fred's shop. They told the B.A.R. that the work was being done there. When the car was completed and the work was viewed Fred and his co workers said it was not the shops liability because it was not his employee that did the work in his shop. I took the unlicensed scam artist to court and won. They appealed the case and brought in Fred as an "expert witness." Fred who is a relation to the unlicensed mechanic and went under oath lied and said the work was expertly done, had his seal of approval as a quality paint job. My boyfriends truck had some issues with the door. The other day I couldn't get the door to shut, so I ended up holding the door while driving down from Kneeland. My arms hurt so bad. I ended up making a wrong turn and long behold a body shop. Fred's and me not knowing what to do I pulled in and asked the guys to help at least get the door shut. They did! Then gave an estimate and the next day appointment. The day of the appt was a little hectic, as I had to catch a bus to the bay area and the young woman at the counter was very nice and made sure that I made my trip. She gave me a ride.. They did scratch the tinting on my window and when I noticed it they came to my house and picked up the car to have the window redone. Took my car in for an estimate and they spent an hour taking pictures and filling out multiple forms for insurance, making me late for work. 8 days later when I was ready to proceed with the work they stated they needed to take pictures again and get all the info again. When I asked why they didn't have the pics and information from before he said it was over a month ago. No, it was only 8 days. I went in again to fill out the forms and take the pictures and afterwards they said they wouldn't do the work! Worst experience with mechanics ever!! read more

Our brand new (still with the paper plates) 2014 Honda CRV driver's door was pretty badly damaged (all cosmetic) in a wreck down south by a distracted uninsured driver.Thankfully everything was covered by GEICO. Fred's Body Shop did an AWESOME job. Because it was a new car, it took a bit of time to get the parts. And Troy offered us a courtesy car, which I refused. But BOY was it worth the wait!!! My fiancee swore that the best business for the job in Humboldt County was Fred's Body shop and he INSISTED on using them even though our insurance uses a different body shop. Fred guarantees their work for the life of the car. Chris drove the car to my door when the CRV was ready. The car gleamed down the driveway, there was no way to tell that it had ever been in a wreck. The paint was matched to a "T".
